JEKYLL INTO THE JEKYLL-VERSE

Okay so I’ve been working on this for a few days now, and essentially, you know how Worse than I had thought is just a J&H crossover based off of the spider verse movies? Yeah. Well. I decided to draw that idea in its full glory!! So here they are!!!

I’d like to make a mention that some of these Jekyll’s belong to people I know!

The Jekyll in the middle is WTIHT Jekyll, who belongs to me

The Jekyll’s to his right are OG Jekyll and Musical Jekyll respectively, and to his left are TGS Jekyll and 2015 Jekyll

The nerd Jekyll with dual coloured hair is Jackson Jekyll from monster high, and the all white Jekyll beside him is MAZM Jekyll from the game Hyde and Seek!

It’s been a month since I finished ITV Jekyll & Hyde and it has not left my brain since. Was it perfect? No. Did I have fun? Yes. Was I upset that it was canceled? Also yes. How am I coping? Well, by slightly rewriting the series and adding my own character cause I was not that big of a fan of the whole ‘your-birth-family-is-your-real-family’ idea. Maybe if the series continued, they could have addressed.

For the people who know me for my TGS OC, you know I had given Henry Jekyll a daughter. Anne-Marie had taken over my drawing life at this point. I figured, why not also put a version of her into the show? Hello multiverse, I have come a-knocking.

This piece takes place in Season 1, where Robert Jekyll arrived in London. However, instead of running into Lily, he runs into a seven-year-old with a big grin on her face, asking him if he wants some information.

Also, this was an excuse to try out a different style. I figured since this show takes place in the 30s, I could try out the Noir style. I was also very inspired by @/moonsun2010’s Dracula animatic. Just thought it would make the slow-burn found family stuff very dramatic.

This is my third time rewatching Jekyll and Hyde (2015 tv show) in the last 3 weeks. I am obsessed. I wish there were more content out there based on the fandom.

I also wish there was a second season tbh 😅 Who's with me? Maybe if enough people request it, they'll bring it back even after all these years.

I love this TGS animation of Jekyll and Hyde. I wish Unicron was in Transformers MTMTE and Lost Light. Split personalities sharing a body would be a fun idea. Or they are one spark in two bodies (split spark twins).

My personal headcannon is Primacronus was the firstborn, and later split into Primus (Rung) and Unicronus (Unicron).

What’s your favorite adaptation of J&H?

Great question! I don't know that I have a singular favourite, so I'll just ramble about a few notable ones.

Minor spoilers but just notes about aspects I liked and nothing big, as long as you're familiar with the general concept

I am of course quite fond of the original novel (1886). It started it all and was well written and a good read. And of course, the undisputed best line of "If he be Mr. Hyde, I shall be Mr. Seek." Pop off Utterson.

I feel like I have to give a shout out to the 1912 short film because it's impressive to me that there's a film adaptation that old, as that's toward the start of films in general. It's 12 minutes, it's online free, it feels like a lab safety sketch, good little watch.

I really enjoyed the 1968 movie and thought it was a good portrayal. I liked that we got to see a nice and charismatic side of Hyde before he became really abusive (I'm a fan of more nuanced presentations over ones that treat it like a purely good vs evil monster movie). I liked that it kept some aspects of mystery and that it was fairly true to the book.

Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde (1971). Hyde is a woman and a girlboss, what more do I need to say. I support her wrongs.

I adore the songs from the musical. Unfortunately some of my favourites from the album seem to not be in the actual play, but I am a theatre kid and love me a good musical.

Mary Reilly (1996) was the first film adaptation I saw so I'm partial to it. Good sense of mystery about the situation since it's from the perspective of one of his maids.

I'm also a fan of the 2015 series. Definitely very different to the book and follows his grandson so it's different characters/story, but I found it to be a very enjoyable series. I'm very upset that it's only one season, particularly given how the first season ends. I hc Hils as trans and you can't change my mind.

I'm fond of a lot of different aspects of different depictions so it's hard to pick a singular favourite. There are more that I've seen that I enjoyed that I may do specific review posts of later, as well as more detailed thoughts on these, but that's an overview of some of my highlights, and some recommendations if you aren't familiar with these

Save for the Chonny Jash versions, what are Jekyll and Hyde's favourite iterstions of themselves? (MazM, TGS, musical, etc...)

I am rather a fan of the 2007 (film, not series) and 2015 modern adaptations, and I also really quite liked the 1986 Soviet Russian adaptation.
