Aunque hoy no es miércoles -y tampoco estamos yendo al estreno de Barbie- hoy nos vestimos de rosa para celebrar el #MeansDayGirl.

Mean Girls o Chicas Pesadas pasó a la historia como una de las películas más exitosas en el género Chick Flick, teniendo un montón de fanáticos que siguen recordando sus líneas, como “On Wednesday we wear pink” (“Los miércoles vestimos de rosa”) u “October, 3rd” , y así también por la cantidad de memes que nos regaló y que aún siguen vigentes en nuestro Timeline.

¿Por qué sigue siendo un éxito? Son muchos los motivos por lo que se convirtió en un film de culto para los fanáticos del género. Comencemos por decir que el término Chick Flick refiere a una temática de comedia romántica, que explora el crecimiento interno del personaje y termina siendo emotivo -Por favor, ¿cómo no amar este género?

En mi opinión, Mean Girls redobla la apuesta y pasa a ser una sátira, recreando de una manera exagerada el mundo adolescente en la secundaria y los problemas que conlleva. Tina Fey, su guionista, que también tuvo una participación importante como actriz, logró que tanto chicos y chicas se sientan identificados con la esencia de las escenas y los temas de crueldad adolescente o bullying, el autoestima, la búsqueda de identidad y los principios de la amistad.

También hay remarcar la fuerza de los personajes y cómo se diferencian de otros en películas similares. Regina George es tan odiable como amada por los fanáticos -Rachel McAdams se lleva el mérito de esto-, única e inigualable, destacando a su vez la tendencia en moda de los 2000'. En conclusión, "Mean Girls" es de las películas favoritas de la época y nos deja la contracara de que ya no hacen más películas cómo esas. ¿Cuál es su Chick Flick favorito?
