Gameplay and story segregation, Octopath Traveler's old friend... There were a few points in the game where it got especially egregious, but I had gotten used to it from the first game by that point.

Ochette is actually the protagonist of an edgy Pokemon romhack. Picks her starter and the one she doesn't pick gets mad and tries to kill her. Captures Pokemon and straight up eats the ones she doesn't want to keep.
