#of course i believe Superboy deserves better than the initial treatment
Text
I swear so many DP x DC fics handle the Superman Connor thing like Superman had absolutely no right to be mad or "how dare he not immediately act like a dad to a clone of him"
Superman had every right to not only feel uncomfortable but also deny being forced to a raise a child he never consented to.
Superman already had an image of being a father. It was with Lois. It was in a humble countryside with his Ma and Pa.
But instead he is put in a situation where a child born from the machinations of an enemy who has viewed him as a threat and a weapon he can use for himself.
For the latter, that clone is proof of his success in using Superman as his weapon.
Of course Superman doesn't see Superboy for being Superboy instead Lex Luthor's Clone.
He sees the success of his enemy who will ruin everything he tried to fight for.
He has made Superman his weapon.
And that is a valid reaction to come to for Superman personally.
It's personal.
A reaction, only he himself, the target, can feel.
He viewed his body as violated, his dreams with Lois as violated. His city, threatened.
And that is not irrational.
Superboy is Lex Luthor's dream to control Superman.
Superboy can destroy Metropolis the same way Superman can.
He sees that. Blinded by it, yeah. But not wholly irrational.
And also, I don't believe Superman had to take care of him as a son.
Cuz, I'll admit, it's a violation and I am drawing parallels to rape.
If a woman got violated and doesn't want the kid, I support it.
If a man got violated and doesn't want the kid, I support it.
They aren't ready for them. And you shouldn't force parenthood on anyone.
Superman deserved a say in this.
