No one we've ever seen does double knitting like @taniarichter. Her patterns are so gorgeous and elaborate, often with a fantasy theme. She's currently focusing on designing large scarves and shawls featuring dragons, phoenixes, and Celtic designs, and her past body of work is very varied. You can see dozens of her patterns at www.fastenoffyal.com/tania-richteraetherfang
Pictured here is her Celtic Thistle Unicorn Shawl, a triangular shawl with a rampant unicorn in the centre, and beautiful thistle border motifs.

New pattern: Between the Dragon and His Wrap
With medieval-style dragons and castles, this shawl is a fantasy lover’s delight! It’s knitted entirely in the round, with the fringe built in as you go. This pattern features the easiest steek imaginable - the steek becomes the fringe; you just cut it up the middle and knot the strands to finish!
You can follow either written or charted instructions.
Comes in two lengths.
Purchasing this pattern gives you access to both a standard-format PDF with the instructions and a low-vision/screen reader version.
Pattern is available at https://wipinsanity.blogspot.com/p/pattern-between-dragon-and-his-wrap.html

The #kastanieshawl by @malihadesigns is out today! I used three skeins of @knitonecrochettoo meadow silk in sage. Lisa’s patterns are very adaptable to the yarn you have in stash - and also very addicting! Lisa’s patterns are available on Lovecrafts as well as rav. #malihadesigns #lisahannes #knitting #knittingaddict #knittingismytherapy #knittingpattern #knittingpatterns #offravdesigners #offrav #knitonecrochettoo https://www.instagram.com/p/CH0VLe3pjX9/?igshid=1x1t3ea3qytvh

Before I sewn it into a cowl. Yes including yarn ends hanging around. I just have that tendency to wear knits (and sewn items) as soon as they are finished. Btw: everything you see of my clothing in this picture is me-made. The trench coat is from @deer_and_doe_patterns , the jeans is from @closetcorepatterns and the scarf (now cowl) is by me. And if you want a scarf or cowl just like this, there is still a 25% off (#payhip and Ravelry) on this pattern for a few more hours. #knitting #knittingaddict #knittingismytherapy #knittinginspiration #knittinglove #knittingpattern #patternsale #atalantedesign #designersofinstagram #knittersofinstagram #knittersofravelry #knittersoftheworld #knittersgonnaknit #handmadewardrobe #fallknits #winterknits #xmasknits #christmasknitting #knittingpattern #winterknits #OffRavDesigners (hier: Berlin, Germany) https://www.instagram.com/p/CG20GGwIgcl/?igshid=1r7ssip53loim

What is the Fasten Off Yarnalong?
We're an accessible, inclusive stitchalong event geared to promoting and supporting independent crochet and knitting designers. We also love building community and giving everybody a fun time! To participate in the stitchalong, you just have to start a project using a purchasable pattern from any of our participating designers.
Our event is filled with activities and games, including lots of opportunity for chatting on various social media channels. Makers can get as involved as they feel comfortable with, on the channels they feel comfortable on.
The event kicks off with a two-week discount period; that's when people can use the event's discount code to get 25% off a selection of patterns from our participating designers!
Last year we had 101 designers and 2,365 discounted pattern products, all searchable on our website! This year we're aiming to make our searchable database even bigger and better, with more search features. You can check out our website for databases from past years to see what we had on offer.
More information is coming as the event gets closer! To keep updated on what's going on, you can subscribe to our mailing list, check the website, and/or keep an eye on our social media spaces.

Elizabeth Sullivan is co-owner of Sweet Paprika Designs with her sister Debbie. Their yarns are often the inspiration behind Elizabeth's crochet and knitting designs, and she likes to create patterns which are both fun to make and enjoyable to wear. Size inclusivity is very important to her, and most of her adult garments are sized to fit at least a 30 to 60 inch chest range.
We love the simplicity and beauty of her Khione sweater knitting pattern. The lovely texture pattern at neckline, sleeve cuffs, and bottom hem makes this more than just your average stockinette sweater.

Knit Eco Chic's patterns are engineered with intentional details to create enjoyable and stunning projects. They also have an eco-focus. As a result, she has dozens of lovely designs for you to check out!
It was really hard to pick just one of her designs to show off here, because she consistently creates beautiful garments and accessories. We finally decided on Woodsong Camber, because it's such a unique and handsome hip-length sweater, with its panels of cables and lace travelling diagonally down the body, and matching panels down the sleeves.
You can see much, much more of her work at www.fastenoffyal.com/knit-eco-chic

Stitchers, start your engines!
We are delighted to announce that the 2022 Fasten Off Yarnalong has begun! This is our biggest year yet, with:
109 designers
3,500 discount-eligible patterns
Over 4,300 patterns in our database altogether
As usual, we kick off the yarnalong with a discount period. Use code FO2022 on any of our participating designers' discounted patterns to get 25% off the regular price! Our website's search feature lets you hunt for patterns you'll love, and lets you see which ones are discount-eligible.
Yep, that's right, this year we're showing all patterns from our participating designers which can be individually purchased off-Ravelry, not just the discounted ones! We hope this gives you a wider variety of yarnalong projects to choose from, and gives you a better idea of the great work that the designers create. We've also added new search features this year, which we hope will help you find exactly what you want.
So go ahead and get started on your yarnalong projects! Use our #FastenOffYAL event hashtag to follow along on social media, and check out our website at www.fastenoffyal.com for more ways to connect with our community, play games, and win prizes.
Have fun!

The yarnalong is coming!
To help get you ready, we've put a bunch of new information up on our website:
Event schedule
Info about event activities
Info about event games
Info about event prizes
You can also follow us on our social media accounts to keep abreast of our preparations:
Instagram
Twitter
Tumblr
And of course you're welcome to join our Discord server anytime. The event channels won't be up and running until the yarnalong starts, but now is a great opportunity - especially if you're unfamiliar with Discord - to join and play around with the platform for a bit, so you can get used to it, and say hello to people as the conversation starts heating up. This year, we've created a #using-discord channel in the 'Start here!' area which you can use to try things out, and find resources for learning how to use Discord.
The more, the merrier!
Why not bring a friend? Or friends, plural? While you're waiting for the yarnalong to start, please feel free to tell people about it - the more makers we have, the more we support our terrific participating designers! Looking forward to seeing you all in the event!

Irocknits Designs likes to surround herself with colourful expressions, friends, and clothing. She also has a bi-weekly YouTube video blog where she chats about knitting!
Shown here is her latest design, recently released: Chim-Chim-in-ney Socks. Actually, it's two designs, because it comes in DK weight and fingering weight versions!

Liz Corke creates patterns for adventurous knitters who are ready to move beyond the basics. Her patterns are relaxing knits for experienced knitters, or a great way to learn new techniques and skilsl for newer knitters, with photo tutorials for new or unusual techniques.
She's got dozens of lovely designs on offer, which makes picking one thing to show you very difficult. But we've settled on Fearthainn as a great example of her beautiful aesthetic. Check out www.fastenoffyal.com/liz-corke-knits for lots more!

Millie Tansill is one of the many Tunisian crochet designers who have joined us for the first time this year, and we are thrilled to have her. She enjoys finding new ways of putting colour and texture together, and we wholeheartedly love that she does - just look at what she's done with colour and pattern in Tunisian crochet with her Six-Panel Cowl!

@hrhdeb likes to take people, places, and things which are dear to her, and turn them into lace knitting patterns based on an alphabetic code! Her designs feature clean lines, simple shapes, and bold colours.
One powerful example of her bold colours is her 2e Awareness Hat, created to build awareness of the 2e, or "twice-exceptional" community. We love the bold stripes and strong contrasts, as well as the message behind the design.

We're looking for volunteers!
Tumblr media
We couldn't possibly run the event every year without our fantastic volunteers! The event is filled with lots of activities and games, and we need help to run them all. If you'd like to help out, please let us know what you're interested in doing, by using this signup form. The responses will determine which activities and games we're able to have this year, as well as which platforms we can support them on. We need to be able to make these decisions in time for the start of the yarnalong, so although you can absolutely fill this form out at any time throughout the event, we do need to know by November 20 whether we definitely have enough volunteers for:
Moderating
Social media posts
Monitoring channels for random giveaways
And remember that everything is optional, please don't feel obligated to volunteer for things which don't interest you!
