Finally, the weather has begun to cool down from the brutal heat of summer. Furuya hates the heat, hates the feeling of his chest tightening whenever he runs laps under the beating rays of the sun. It makes him more unfocused than usual. Practice becomes a blur, Sawamura’s shouting and Haruichi’s encouragement and even Miyuki’s laughter all blending together in a haze as he gasps for breath.

He’s just finished dinner, which is never his favorite part of the day. His teammates force him to eat much more than he’d like to keep his stamina up, and he always comes out of the cafeteria feeling a bit queasy. Furuya knows he should sleep, but ironically this is the one time he can’t bring himself to do so. With the cool evening breeze fluttering around him, his body is restless. He wants to pitch.

Sluggish legs carry him to their captain’s dorm room without a second thought, and Furuya knocks slowly. Surely Miyuki will turn him away at this hour, but it won’t stop him from trying. It never does.

Izuki smiles, a nice, pleasant expression to hide the growing feeling of dread festering in his stomach. He supposes he’s happy that Hyuuga is asking that of him now, but he can’t help but feel that if something goes wrong, Hyuuga will never talk to him again, that their friendship will shatter into pieces at the slightest discomfort. Sometimes Izuki longs for everything to be simple like it was when they were kids, a nostalgia for something they can never go back to, for a time where they held hands and snuggled up together without a second thought. Now everything is tinged with precariousness and the knowledge that Hyuuga is pushing himself -- and for what? Does he really like Izuki that way, or is he trying to prove something to himself...?

“Sure,” Izuki manages. There’s a strange voice chattering in his head, wondering if his hair looks okay or if he seems cool at all, if he’s standing awkwardly or seeming casual enough. He feels awkward in his own skin suddenly, and he’s also hyper aware of things he usually tries so hard not to think about, like how cute it is when Hyuuga furrows his brow in that grumpy manner of his, or how strong his hands are from playing basketball, or how his glasses look nice on him (even if he doesn’t have the stereotypical smarts to go along with them). “But if you don’t like it... we can stop, okay?”

HE WAS ALREADY WORN OUT from the countless exams he had be taking extra prep sessions for. If he wanted to achieve placement in Keio, a GPA at par wouldn’t be enough to dazzle them. Kasamatsu made a plan for himself to go straight home on off-days just so he could get to bed at a decent time. Tonight, he was proud of his effort, retiring for the evening at a decent 09:00. He thought he would rest well. This is how he planned it. But a sudden alert from his phone brings the male up from his sleep. Thinking it were morning, the Kaijo captain was distraught at the sight of the time illuminating his screen. 

This better be important, thinks Kasamatsu squinting at the screen——not yet adjusted to the screen’s light. In that moment ( upon seeing the contents of that text ) he wished he left the damned thing on silent.

For a few minutes all he could do was stare and fathom if the younger were insightful or just plain bored. Why the hell was he up at this hour anyway ? He didn’t have the energy to call the younger and chew him out as his impulses would usually steer him. But the next morning he was going to advise the younger keep away from the hairspray.

His gaze shifts away from the computer screen to his lit up phone, wondering who could be texting him so late at night. Probably Iwa-chan telling me to sleep early again. Instead of Hajime’s name, seeing Tetsurou’s name instead intrigues him immediately and he taps on the notification to be brought into messages. Reading the contents of the text makes his face soften, and an equally soft smile touches his lips. It warms him to know that even with his struggles, Tetsurou’s still thinking about him to give him wishes even after his birthday’s passed. mortified that kagami and aomine should be making so much noise at maji’s right now, but consoling herself with the fact that they are not all sitting together, satsuki looks over to tetsu with an awkward smile. she adjusts to face the window a little more, and holds her hand to hide her face from the scene. “it’s nice that they’re friends now,” because she knows, despite the yelling, that they’re not angry yelling at easy other. they’d both have just left if they didn’t want to hang out. she picks up a french fry and pops it into her mouth. “but it is a shame that they’re so loud about it. right, tetsu-kun?”

Oh, Miyuki's going to kiss him? Willingly? Furuya tries not to look too excited, but it's hard to hold back the sparkly aura. If he seems too needy, then Miyuki won't want to kiss him; but if he seems too disinterested, then Miyuki will know he's lying. "Um, yes, senpai," Furuya says. He wants Miyuki to kiss him all the time, actually. It's a bit of a problem. "Yes, please?"

the way they’re told that they’d be going with mitsuri was by being told that they’d need to change out of white yutaka and until their uniform / something that’s easily done with no complaint. as they return outside, she’s talking with some of the girls, all of whom grow quiet upon seeing them before scurrying off to somewhere or another and they think nothing about it. the girls are still young, all with their own quirks, and kids doesn’t care or mind what they do anyway.

upon reaching her, mitsuri begins explaining where the two of them would be heading off to / which type of demon they were to go after and how many / the works, all of which they quietly listen to as they walk with her. she stops at the entrance of the butterfly estate, resulting in kid stopping beside her.

“ is something wrong? ” if anything, they’re assuming that something’s been forgotten, but she shakes her head and asks for them to close their eyes and they do exactly that. mitsuri is…. well, herself, so they don’t think too much any request from the love hashira and then it happens.

there’s lips gently pressed against the corner of their own and while it only lasts for a moment —

light blue eyes fly open only to spot her green ones, bewildered. it takes no time for their face to heat, shamelessly showing their embarrassment as they freeze on the spot, not rigid, but like half melted ice and they don’t know if the proper answer would be to freeze or melt so they end up doing both.

what? what!? they’ve never been kissed before and — well — now they have, but what for?

how stupid do they look? slowly taking a step back as they force theirself to at least blink and they’re sure she had just completely destroyed their thought process. sure she’s the love hashira, but she just doesn’t kiss anyone! right…? yeah, that’s right, they’re sure of it.

“ kanroji-san—? ” luckily for them, their voice doesn’t crack but her name comes out so choked out that they’d rather their voice would have just cracked anyway. it’s been exactly one second, but there’s so many thoughts going through their mind it felt like an eternity had already passed and there she is, still looking at them with that smile on her lips and blush dusting her cheeks.

"That's quite the range of emotions," Izuki says with a laugh, though his heart does a strange little flip at the word kiss. Huh. Clearly Hyuuga doesn't mean it like that, it's more of a -- Izuki, that was a great pass, I could kiss you right now! Like that. In a platonic way. "With that range, I'm sure we could arrange one or the other." Hyuuga is probably closer to kill right now. "If you killed me, I think you'd miss having someone to tell to shut up," Izuki adds cheerfully. Agreeing to a kiss is a little bit precarious, since he's not sure what Hyuuga means by that, or if Hyuuga himself even knows what it means. "If I stop making jokes for fifteen minutes, will you consider not killing me?" That's a lot to ask, actually. "...At least five minutes?"
