This went waaay above my word count limit but whatever. xD Also I realized only after I finished writing this that I kinda strayed away from the prompt so I’m sorry if this played out differently from what you’re expecting, Anon! 😬✌🏼

Something’s off about Shinichi lately.

Between them, Ran knows herself as the moodier one, so it comes as a surprise when she starts to notice Shinichi acting sourly around her in class. When something bugs him, he usually won’t hesitate to tell her right away, so the fact that he isn’t bringing this one up bothers her a little.

This moodiness has been going on for two weeks. And two weeks ago was the arrival of Sakuraba-kun, a transfer student from London.

Sakuraba-kun’s fairly attractive with his blonde hair and brown eyes, and can speak a little Japanese because his father is one. Girls from their class envy Ran for being assigned by their sensei to assist him with Japanese classes, Ran being his seatmate. So for the past two weeks, she’s often seen around him, making sure he gets his homework done, and Sakuraba-kun cracks jokes once in a while and Ran laughs. A fun lot this classmate is.

“Do you find him attractive?” Shinichi asked her once as they ate lunch.

“He has nice features,” Ran casually replied, not finding the need to add, ‘but he’s not my type’, so as not to thread into the topic of who her real type is, with him.

Sometimes, she sees from her peripherals how the guys in their class whisper something to Shinichi, only for them to snigger and his face to contort into a god-awful frown and curse them away, and then the rest of the day is just him sulking and staring out the window.

Sometimes, before she and Shinichi go up the rooftop for lunch, they bump into Sakuraba-kun and he stalls them for a few minutes, and Shinichi tries to get into the conversation but Sakuraba-kun brushes him off everytime, leaving him peculiarly quiet the remainder of lunch break.

Sometimes, Sakuraba-kun catches up with them on the school gate before starting their walk home, and he goes in between him and her as he walks with them for two blocks before they part ways. Consistently, Shinichi releases a ‘tch’ under his breath whenever Sakuraba-kun places his hands on Ran’s shoulders before bidding her - only her - goodbye.

One time, during their walk home to which Sakuraba-kun wasn’t invited, he openly asked Ran about her relationship with Shinichi, having noticed how they always walked home together. She blushed at the question, unable to meet Shinichi’s eyes as she stammered, “Uh, we-we’re—”

“She’s my best friend. And I’m hers. Anything wrong with that?” Shinichi butted in, face blank but voice dead serious as he walked ahead without looking at their direction.

When he noticed that the two weren’t walking along, he glanced back and saw an amused Sakuraba and a blushing Ran tucking her hair behind her ear.

“Yeah, something like that…” her eyes remained fixated to the ground, Shinichi’s ‘and I’m hers’ replaying in her ear like a broken record.

“Mm. So, just friends?” Sakuraba-kun’s eyes drifted between Ran and Shinichi. He beamed annoyingly and patted Shinichi’s shoulders for the first time.

“That’s nice to know, Kudou-san,” he simpered, winked and walked away.

In those two weeks, that’s the first time Ran heard Shinichi audibly grumble.

The rest of their walk was spent in silence.

The next day was even worse. First period hadn’t even begun and Shinichi’s already as quiet as a rock, which only happened when he’s deep in thought about something. Ran wanted to ask him why, but her attempts always got interrupted by Sakuraba-kun asking for her help in some homework he probably knew the answer to already.

Before she knew it, the day’s already over and as she packed her bag, Shinichi silently drew near her desk.

“Ran, can we talk?”

“Oh, Shinichi. About what?”

“Hey, Ran-san! Are you ready for tomorrow?” the London boy interfered, shouting to her from across the door, “I already asked mom to cook her signature meat pie and I’m sure you’ll love it!”

Flashing him a kind smile, Ran waved him goodbye. “Yes, I’ll see you then, Sakuraba-kun!”

He disappeared out the door, and Ran returned her attention to Shinichi, who witnessed their interaction and was now eyeing her questioningly.

“Sakuraba-kun invited me to his house for tomorrow’s tutoring session,” she began, before he could even ask.

“Okay,” Shinichi nodded his head, averting his gaze to the window. “Okay. I see.”

There was thick silence; she swore she could hear a needle drop.

“I’ll go with you,” he said, and Ran’s eyes widened.

“I, uh... I’m not sure, Shinichi.”

“Why?”

“Sakuraba-kun said to come alone, since his flat isn’t big enough for more than five people, given his parents and brother are there.”

Shinichi perked an eyebrow.

“That guy asked you to come alone?”

She nodded.

“And you agreed?”

“I...don’t find anything wrong with it?”

His nose wrinkled in distate.

“Ran. A transfer student we barely know is inviting you to his house, instructing you to come. Alone. Aren’t you getting a little too comfortable with this?”

He said that with a slightly raised voice, and Ran’s eyes narrowed into crinkled slits. What was he implying? Was he really going to get mad at this?

“What’s with that ridiculous mindset, Shinichi? Sakuraba-kun isn’t up to anything bad. I can confirm that because he showed Sonoko and I his flat last week and-”, she paused midway, biting her lip.

More silence, and she knew right then she wound him up when she saw his jaw visibly clench.

“You went there, and you didn’t tell me?”

“B-Because! You’re going to get upset again,” she gestured vaguely at him, “Like that.”

He threw his head back, pinching the bridge of his nose. “God, you think wrong. I’m feeling worse. The hell are you like that?”

“The hell am I...like…Excuse me?”

In that moment something in her snapped. Apart from his spiteful tone, he didn’t even seem to think through the ramifications of his words. She was just trying to be considerate. But the way she saw it, he’s making her feel like it was entirely her responsibility why he felt worse.

“I don’t get it Shinichi,” she clenched her fist, tight. “Why are you so upset with me when it comes to Sakuraba-kun?”

“What? Is it wrong to be worried for my best friend?” he answered with an equally frustrated voice.

“That’s a lie and your smart brain needs to think of a better reason!” Ran screeched, taking him aback.

“Even if he isn’t doing anything to me in school you’re still acting so bitterly and I don’t understand why! And it only happens with Sakuraba-kun! Just admit that you’re being immature hating on another who hasn’t done you wrong!”

“What?! I-”

She saw the strong urge in him to say something but deciding against it the last minute.

It wasn’t her intention to shout but she couldn’t help it. If only he wasn’t this overbearingly flippant. If only he was more careful with the words he said, and wasn’t saying. Isn’t saying.

She waited for him to speak but instead, he ruffled his hair, grabbed his satchel and walked away, not even giving her a second look.

“Forget it. Go if you want to.”

That day, Shinichi and Ran didn’t walk home together.

The last bell rings and people start to dissipate. Shinichi refuses to talk to her the whole day, and Ran internally struggles as to whether she’ll talk to him first and apologize.

For what, though? She cannot even explain what happened yesterday. As far as she knows she didn’t do anything bad, maybe apart from being a little too harsh with her choice of words.

But it’s Shinichi who started it, she thinks. So she decides to hold on for a little longer, ignoring the little pang in her chest.

She really hates it when this happens.

Her phone pings to an email notification from Sakuraba-kun saying he’s waiting for her at the school gate. She blinks at it and closes her phone. At this point she isn’t even sure if she wants to go. But sensei has given her this job of tutoring him, and she must comply.

That makes her think. Sakuraba-kun is nice and all, but does tutoring him come with the obligation of teaching him whenever, wherever he pleases?

She sighs, pushes herself out of the chair, and stares at Shinichi’s back from two seats away. How she wishes Shinichi’s doing this with her so he can at least talk her through it.

...

But isn’t that what he tried to do yesterday?

“Are you still going?”

Without looking behind him, he addresses her, and she knows it’s for her because they’re the only ones left in the room. Instantly her mind snaps back to her irritation at him.

“Yes.” She replies, purposely hinting annoyance through her voice.

Shinichi exhales sharply, rolls his eyes and stares out the window.

Seeing that there’s no use arguing and Shinichi doesn’t seem to be in any mood to talk, Ran gets her satchel and walks out the classroom. Before she descends the stairs, she hears the sliding door open and his voice reaching out to her.

“Don’t go, damnit!”

Ran stops walking, half turning her head over her shoulder. “Why?”

“Don’t go there alone. Or at least. Study with him in a coffee shop or somewhere.”

“Shinichi.”

“Or just take me with you.”

“I’m asking you, Shinichi. Why?”

He doesn’t speak, letting the silence linger on, shallow footsteps of people echoing from afar.

“Do you like him?” he asks lowly, voice barely above a whisper.

“What? No! What’s with you, Shinichi?!” Ran scowls, this time turning around to face him.

“Have you ever thought that the reason he wants you alone is because he likes you?”

Ran’s lips shut tight, unable to reply. She won’t admit that that does cross her mind a few times, but she isn’t one to care so she sets it aside.

“Have you thought of the repercussions of being alone with a guy who likes you and wants you alone in his house?”

“He isn’t—”

“Have you ever thought that maybe the reason why I’m in a foul mood is because I don’t want that to happen?”

Ran would’ve been blushing if she isn’t so peeved.

“So it’s about what you want now? I’m not gonna go because that’s what Shinichi wants?”

“Then do you want to be alone with him in his room?”

“I’m just going to help him with his homework! You make it sound like I’m wanting to—”

“So you don’t, right?”

“Y-You’re giving me weird thoughts now! Baka Shinichi!”

He drags his feet to her, still not done talking.

“Then, have you ever thought that the reason why I’m in a foul mood is because you’re spending a lot more time with him than you are with me and god, I hate it?”

“B-But I need to because sensei asked m- Huh? Wh—”

“Have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe, about you, I-” breath short, he stops just before her, eyes never leaving hers. Ran’s face heats up, realizing how close he is now when a minute ago he’s just by the door of the classroom.

Gulping hard, she stands her ground, trying to look unfazed. She takes one step forward, meeting him eye to eye.

“Stop with the questions and answer me first, Shinichi!” she demands, voice laced with authority. “Why? Why do you not want me there? Why hate on him?”

He opens his mouth and closes it again, fists clenching and unclenching.

“And don’t tell me you have the right as my best friend to say all these because Sonoko is my best friend too and she doesn’t get mad when I’m with Sakuraba-kun!”

From the distance Ran sees two of their teachers talking to each other, walking to their direction. They don’t have much time. She doesn’t want their teachers asking them why they’re still around because she doesn’t know how she’ll explain this, and Sakuraba-kun is waiting for her outside.

“Answer me.”

She tries to sound commanding, but his silence exasperates her and she feels the corner of her eyes sting. Screw this. Once the teachers get nearer, she’ll just leave him like that and endure this petty fight for one more day.

“Just- whatever, Shinichi. I’ll-”

“Ugh. You want to know why?”

Not giving her time to reply, he grabs her wrist and pulls her behind the wall by the stairs, pinning her not so gently but not so forcefully either. Ran’s eyes widen, and shortly after uttering the first syllable of his name, she is stopped by his lips clashing with hers, muffling the rest of her sound.

His lips are firm and compelling, enough to paralyze her neck down. It lasts so quickly that Ran doesn’t even have time to close her eyes before he separates.

With eyes still closed and brows furrowed, he rests his forehead against hers and breathes heavily, cheeks as red as the setting sun spilling over their faces.

Her pulse starts to gallop a hundred miles per hour.

“Shi...n…”

“Don’t go.”

Hearing him say that again, more expressively this time, makes her forget how to breathe. And when she does attempt to breathe, he closes in again and captures her lips.

Though the press of his mouth remains commanding, there’s this certain softness in it that makes all the spite in her heart disappear. She suddenly forgets why they’re fighting, overpowered by her need to close her eyes and just...feel.

To feel his hand climb the crook of her neck, resting below her ear. To feel his grip soften around her wrist, holding her like a fragile glass he doesn’t want to break. To feel his chest against hers thunder from his raging heart, dancing in sync with her equally restless one. To feel his silky lips move against her dry ones, kissing her lovingly like he is hers, and she, his.

Has she been misunderstanding him all along?

He opens his eyes slowly, meeting hers. She loses herself at the waterfall of emotions gushing from his eyes, a mixture of affection and frustration and everything else in between.

“That’s why.”

A leg or not a leg, that is the question

Hiccups leg is accidentally melted by Meatlug and all is spares are gone. While waiting for a new one his friends take it upon themselves to find a replacement.

It’s an accident, Hiccup knows this all to well, but that doesn’t stop Fishlegs from apologizing a hundred times. Hiccup smiles and says: “Don’t worry about it, Fishlegs. I probably have a spare somewhere lying around. I know Meatlug didn’t want to melt my leg, it’s OK.”

“Are you sure?” Fishlegs asked, tapping his fingers together nervously.

Hiccup smiled some more and nodded reassuringly. With Fishlegs comforted he focuses on getting to his hut where he remembers leaving a spare. Luckily Fishlegs is more than happy to assist him on getting back.

The others send them some odd looks when they first arrive, but soon notice the melted leg and Fishlegs guilty looks. Snotlout snorts and yells: “Are you OK Hiccup? You seem to be walking on your last leg.”

Everybody bursts out laughing and Hiccup can’t stop the font eyeroll as he looks at his friends. “Yeah, yeah, laugh it up.” he says, then he looks at the climb to his hut and asks: “Hey, can anyone go to my hut? I remember leaving a leg there.”

Tuffnut jumps up with a mad grin on his face and starts the climb, before he can enter the hut Astrid yells after him: “Don’t touch anything when you don’t have to!”

That makes Tuffnuts shoulders sag, but he doesn’t complain about it. It’s not like he’s going to listen to it. When it was taking too long to be normal Astrid sighed and followed Tuffnut into Hiccups hut. She was about to scold him, when she noticed he was actually looking for something not through something. “Is everything alright?” she asks, effectively scaring the shit out of Tuffnut, who bumps his head on the table he was under.

He rubs his head and answers: “Uh, no, I mean, yeah… I can’t find the leg.”

“Uh-o.”

When they returned empty handed Hiccup let his head drop into his hands and meekly said: “You couldn't find it.”

Astrid hesitated, but then confessed and apologized. “No, no, it’s OK. Now I just need to write Gobber and wait until he sends a new one back.” Hiccup says.

“Won’t that take a while?” Ruffnut asked.

“Yeah, what are you gonna do until then?” Tuffnut added.

Hiccup deflated, but Snotlouts ego made him perk up. “We’ll find him an awesome peg leg, duh.” he said.

That made everyone cheer and they set out to be the one who brought back the best peg leg. It wouldn’t be The Edge without making everything into a competition. This left Hiccup to write to Gobber.

The next day everybody had returned with their options. The twins options was a way too big tree trunk so they were skipped in Hiccups judging, Snotlout had two too long sticks of which Hiccup wasn’t sure what they were supposed to do, Fishlegs had a stick that admittedly was a bit thin and probably couldn’t take his weight, then there was Astrid who had a good sized sturdy branch. Hiccup thanked the Gods for Astrid and tried to fit her option onto his leg first under the curious gazes of his friends.

He looked at his leg and thought ‘so far so good’ and stood up. Readying himself for a meeting with the ground. When nothing happened he cautiously opened his eyes and looked down. The branch was a tad-bit too long, but it held him. With a careful trim it would most definitely work, with a smile he looked to his friends and he immediately yelled. Astrid was swinging her ax at him and before he could stop her she chopped off a chunk of the leg.

It was quiet on the clearing as everyone eyed the small piece of wood that rolled out from underneath the leg. As it finally left the spot under Hiccup, he left his world tilt again this time in the other way. It remained quiet for another second, then Snotlout burst out laughing and the others joined in. The peg leg was now too short and it must have been a funny sight to see Hiccup sway as he went from one side lopsided to the other.

When everybody was done laughing Fishlegs offered his one to Hiccup. The smaller boy knew it wouldn’t work, but when he noticed that someone was going to comment on that he shot them a glare. He didn’t want to hurt Fishlegs feelings and the rest understood and wisely kept their mouth shut. He fitted it on and tapped the ground a few times, the branch bended and he was starting to reconsider, but then he looked up to Fishlegs and saw the hopeful look on his face and he knew he couldn’t disappoint. So he stood up while bracing himself again and felt the branch break. In seconds he was on the ground groaning with a bunch of concerned friends hovering close. He stuck his thumb in the air and said: “I’m OK.”

He was helped back onto his rock and Fishlegs was saying: “Oh, I’m sorry, Hiccup. I should have realized that the branch was too thin.”

Hiccup reassured him, but the larger boy was still looking guilty. He was pushed away, however, by Snotlout who pushed the two sticks in Hiccups hands proudly. Hiccup eyed them wearily and said: “Uh, Snotlout, I’m a bit unsure. I have one leg and these are way too long. I don’t-”

“Yeah, they’re not for that.” Snotlout interrupted, “They are leaning-sticks, you’re supposed to lean on them and they help you hop. Here let me demonstrate.”

He showed them that if you leaned on the top and set the ends a bit in front of you could jump pretty far with only one leg and stay upright to repeat the process. Hiccup nodded enthusiastically and said: “Wow, that’s pretty smart! Thanks, Snotlout.”

That made Snotlout bashful, like he didn’t know what to with praise. Hiccup wanted to move on after that, they had been unproductive long enough, but those plans were foiled by the twins who had been surprisingly quiet until now. “Hey! You can’t leave without looking at our option!” that was Ruffnut.

“Yeah, it has to be fair.” and there was Tuffnut.

“I’ve seen it, it’s a bit on the long and thick side, don’t you think?” Hiccup answered, while he rubbed his temples.

“But that’s not what it’s for!” “Oh, no, this is better.”

That piqued Hiccups interest and he motioned for them to explain. Tuffnut began: “You see, this great invention is” “The carrystick!” “Jup, it’s great. You just have to sit on it and” “Two others can take you wherever you want to go. You can say it’s genius” “I will say it’s genius, sister.” “Why thank you, brother.”

“That doesn’t seem safe or handy, or genius for that matter, at all.” Hiccup said.

“Yeah, we thought you would say that so we brought a second option.” Tuffnut said.

“Hey, that isn’t fair!” Snotlout exclaimed.

“It is, you dummy. Two people, two options.” That was Ruffnut.

“Technically it was never stated that the twins were a unit. So, they’re right.” Astrid gritted.

Hiccup sighed and asked: “So, what is your second option?”

The twins smirked and produced one of Gobbers peg legs out of Tuffnuts coat. Hiccups eyebrows shot to his hairline and he said: “That’s, that’s- How did you find that! I thought I had lost that one.”

“Yeah, we did too, but Tuffnut found it near the boarpit last night and you were already gone and we wanted to show you our carrystick.” Ruffnut explained.

Hiccup sighed deeply, he was pretty sure he didn’t want to know, but look back his leg anyway and strapped it on. When he was done he turned back to his friends and said: “Well, no time to waste. We have stuff to do.”

He watched them leave while grumbling to themselves. He could survive with a normal peg leg for two days, it wasn’t a big deal, but he took Snotlouts leaning-sticks just to be sure.

My explanations and reasoning under the cut.

The Mountain

Of course, The Mountain is already dead, so this feels little redundant. I don’t think Cleganebowl is happening. The Mountain isn’t the same person Sandor had beef with, and Sandor isn’t the same person he once was. *shrug* I’m personally rooting for the Arya-takes-down-the-Mountain theory.

Varys

There’s a good chance that Melisandre is wrong about Varys’ death (like she’s wrong about well, almost everything):

“I have to die in this strange country, just like you.”

But we pair that with the line from Daenerys:

“If you ever betray me, I’ll burn you alive” 

…and it seems to seal his fate (I don’t buy for a second he’s got allegiance to anyone but himself). Of course, there’s a chance it could be a line foreshadowing someone else’s death that’s been ‘leaked’. We’ll see!

Viserion

I could argue that Viserion is already dead… but since “(The Night King)’s done the same thing to Viserion that he did with Craster’s sons,” I assume he��s a dragon version of an other. That’s probably not too important, anyway.

I think Viserion will be taken down by Drogon, mirroring Viserys and Drogo *shrug* I love my parallels, don’t I?

Cersei Lannister

When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. Eh, eh?

For as much as everyone cries “cliche!” about Jaime being the valonqar, imagine if all that foreshadowing was traded in for some shock value, and someone like Sansa does it. *shudders* Nah, man. I want Jaime to mirror himself - the Kingslayer/Queenslayer who took down both mad monarchs threatening to ignite King’s Landing in green flames - finally getting recognized for his act of heroism. That’s much more satisfying than a quick shock that has no buildup. But I suppose, there is a pretty good chance the valonqar is Euron.

(Though I do admit - I would actually love for Cersei Lannister to make it out of this alive, somehow)

Jaime Lannister

“I cannot die while Cersei lives. We will die together as we were born together.”

Both twins have weird lines like this. So, it’s fair to assume if one dies, they both die. And if one lives, they both live. So if Cersei is brought down, Jaime will be, too. How do I see it happening? Perhaps by one last (poisonous) kiss - wherein Brienne comes in to cradle him as the life drains from his body? I dunno. But after all, he wants to die in the arms of the woman he loves, and for better or worse - that’s Brienne.

Jorah Mormont

It’s been long speculated that in season 8, we’ll be seeing a ‘beloved’ character turn into a wight - and I think the best candidate is Jorah Mormont (keep in mind we’re talking show Jorah, who is leagues better than book Jorah).

Admittedly, I do notoriously give D&D more credit than like, anyone else around here. That said - I’m not sure the polar bear thing was entirely for “coolness” factor, like they claim. The moment I heard this line, followed by Jorah looming eerily over Beric…

I thought for sure we’d see this paid off in the very same episode. To me, it just seems wildly out of place and a waste of dialogue. I hope it’s some clever foreshadowing that we’re going to see a dead 'Bear’ of Bear Isle biting someone next season.

Of course, there is always a chance that the greyscale might play some sort of role in preventing Jorah from turning… I guess we’ll see!

Lastly, I’ve always been intrigued by Jon holding a Mormont shield during the BotB - I have a tendency to read too much into everything, I admit - but wouldn’t it be great if Jorah died saving Jon’s hide?

Euron Greyjoy & Theon Greyjoy

For as formidable as book Euron may be - I don’t see him living. This series just isn’t about evil prevailing. What I think he will do, however, is attack Jon and/or Daenerys at sea, perhaps as they try to flee the north. I’m one of those annoying people who thinks very few lines of dialogue are wasted in-show, and this one is a fucking thorn in my side:

I think Theon will succeed in taking down Euron (I think this scene is a great foreshadowing that he’s going to save house Greyjoy by saving Yara), but it will likely be at the cost of his own life. I suspect he’ll not only save Yara - but perhaps some members of his other house, too. After all, he’s a Greyjoy and he’s a Stark.

The Night King

Oh, this one is fun, isn’t it? I’m probably the only person who doesn’t want the Night King to die - but I’m pretty sure he will and that I know how it’ll happen. First, we’ll finally get to see Vladimír Furdík’s stuntwork paid off in the final season, which almost ensures there will be an epic showdown between Jon and the Night King.

But you shouldn’t want Jon to defeat him! (Or Daenerys, for that matter!) Why?

“The gods hate kinslayers, even when they kill unknowing.”

This quote is specifically told to Jon by Ygritte when she recounts the tale of Bael the Bard. Interestingly, Bael the Bard heavily mirrors Rhaegar x Lyanna. And what also happens to mirror Lyanna, is how Sam and Jon become friends. Jon comes to his rescue as he’s getting his ass whooped by his fellow black brothers - just like his momma coming to Howland Reed’s aid. Both Jon and Lyanna go out of their way to further humiliate the tormenters, too.

I predict the Night King will disarm Jon Snow and in this crucial moment, and that’s when Sam the Slayer will thrust Heartsbane through his back (perhaps melted down into more wieldable daggers by Gendry?), Howland Reed-style, saving Jon’s life and frankly, blowing everyone’s minds.

Buuuut it’s going to be about as satisfying as Arthur Dayne’s demise - as we’re going to learn of the Night King’s history, and perhaps that his death marked not only the death of the wights and white walkers - but all of Craster’s sons, perhaps wiping out a whole misunderstood race.

‘A villain is the hero��of the other side’, after all - and if you’re familiar with my theory that the Night King is the one using his greenseeing powers to manipulate the visions in the flames that the followers of R'hllor see… then this line by Beric might foreshadow his death:

Sansa Stark

Before anyone comes for me, there’s a fair amount of eerie foreshadowing - at least in the books. If the season 7 script leaks are to be believed, Sansa might still be the 'lone wolf’ she warned against last season, distancing herself from her family out of jealousy or paranoia.

The way I see it going down, though, (if it does at all) the Stark girls will mirror their direwolves - and Sansa just might die in her sister’s place, saving her life.

Jon Snow

First, let’s look at the conversation between Jon and Melisandre prior to the Battle of the Bastards:

Alternatively, there is some amazing book foreshadowing that Jon will live.

Why include in the story Beric has come back from the dead multiple times, at all? Why tell us that each time he comes back, he’s a bit less of himself? He’s not a major character. Is it all just for 'flavor’ - or are we being groomed to see it happen again to someone we love?

And how bittersweet would that be - seeing Jon come back a second time, but not quite the man he used to be - the one we all grew to love.

I love the theory that Jon Snow is Dany’s mount, treason, and fire for love - and that she’s the one who commits treason against him, by possibly demanding he be brought back 'against his will’ (though, considering he’s a father-to-be and potential newlywed, I don’t think he’ll gripe about it as much in season 8 as he would’ve in season 6.)

When Jon died the first time - I thought for sure he’d come back in some blaze of glory. That they’d try to burn his body, but he’d have this epic 'Unburnt’ moment, like Dany (lol). I’d like to see Dany wake a dragon a second time with some sort of similar funeral pyre that she walks into… except that two people walk out instead of one.

Considering the man gave his life long ago for Catelyn to become Lady Stoneheart in the books, I think his entire purpose for still kickin’ around in Season 8 is to give someone the 'Last Kiss’. Not really a unique idea, no. Popular candidates tend to be Sandor (after all, he tells him 'We will meet again’), Daenerys, or one of the Stark kids. But my money’s on Jon.

Melisandre

I’m an atheist (like GRRM), and therefore, I more or less despise Melisandre for basically convincing what used to be a good man to burn his daughter alive. That’s some Abraham and Isaac shit right there (and that shit better happen in the books because it’s powerful AF commentary and I’m here for it).

All that said, what I’d love to happen with Melisandre is to see her realize her god isn’t real (assuming the Night King has been messing with her visions), and have a personality crisis/breakdown. Afterward, if my theory about Jon happens to be true, she’ll play a role in bringing him back, perhaps even lending her life in the process. Buuuut I wouldn’t mind Gendry’s future wife avenging his cousin’s death and closing her 'blue eyes’ forever.

Tell me more about FP and Hiram fucking at the Halloween party because hermione was going out with fred!!!!

one of you just… had to ask… fortunately for you i already have the night mapped out. also i never specified it was halloween but ya know… tis the season so imagine what you want. anyway.

it starts off with fp standing back somewhere sulking and watching fred and hermione flirt with each other all night and kiss and touch etc and he’s clearly visibly upset and no longer into this whole party situation. cue hiram coming up behind him and following his line of sight and he scoffs, makes a comment about how pathetic fps being to which fp responds “please. like youre not sitting here plotting your revenge on fred” 

hiram puts on his best cars salesman smile and says “actually ive got other plans. got some candy upstairs if you’re interested. it’s fresh.” which is code for hiram went into the city that week to pick up more coke and its the good shit. 

now, fp isnt really that much of a partier when it comes to anything stronger than weed. sure, he partakes from time to time but in general its not really his thing. but he takes one look up and sees fred with his tongue shoved so far down hermiones throat he doesnt know how either one of them is still breathing and he thinks fuck it. might as well make the best of a shitty situation. so he downs the rest of his beer and follows hiram upstairs.

theyre a couple of lines in and fps got a good high going when hiram starts talking about fred and hermione and what they must be up to right now and fp does not want to hear about this. 

“dont you have anything better to talk about? better yet, how about you just dont talk at all.”

“what, youre still acting like it doesnt bother you?”

“it doesnt”

“liar.”

and fine. fp’s lying. but he’s not about to admit that to hiram so instead he gives a half assed “thanks for the drugs” and makes for the door.

but then hirams grabbing his shoulder and telling him to wait, crowds in to fps space which is really hilarious considering fps got a significant amount of height on hiram but he’s too high right now to think about that, also apparently at some point hirams hand has ended up on his crotch so... he’s a little distracted.

hirams massaging fp through his jeans and talking about how its not fair that fred and hermione get to have all the fun and they should be allowed a little something too, is taunting fp with “theyre probably already in the bathroom down the hall as we speak. hermione on her knees... sucking fred off...” 

and next thing hiram knows fps growling and spinning him around, bending him over on the desk and hiram has got the biggest shit-eating grin on his face cuz he knows he just fucking won. says “thats more like it” as he hears fp behind him undoing his belt and hirams scrambling with his own. 

fp fumbles around with the condom, asks hiram where he keeps his lube and reaches over into the desk drawer to retrieve it. 

theres a moment of hesitation on fps part where asks hiram if he’s done this before because for as much as he cant stand the guy, a coke fueled quickie probably isnt the best way to be introduced to anal and fps got a conscience ok? 

but hiram scoffs and says “you wish” and fp rolls his eyes but he’s got all the confirmation he needs to keep going so... he does. 

admittedly he probably couldve spent some more time loosening hiram up but they both know what theyve gotten themselves into and hiram wasnt complaining so.... it was what it was. 

which was hard and fast and angry. 

when it was all said and done and they were tucking themselves back in to their pants, fp couldnt help but feel guilty, which really pissed him off because did fred ever feel guilty about sleeping with half of their graduating class? no. 

but hiram still had that goddamn smile on his face like he was up to trouble.

fp couldnt deal with it anymore. he felt gross. he needed to go home and shower. 

hiram followed and as soon as fp opened the door to step out into the hallway he ran right into none other than... you guessed it... fred and hermione.

everybody was at a standstill. fred knows what a post-sex fp looks like, as does hermione with hiram, so it wasnt hard for them to clock what just happened. fp wouldnt meet freds eyes. fred actually had the nerve to look betrayed, and then pissed when he looked over fps shoulder to hiram standing behind him. hermione was just confused as to why and how this happened and hiram looked like he just won the goddamn lottery. 

fp mumbled something about going home and ducked downstairs as fast as he could and hiram simply said “great party, don’t you think?” before sauntering off without a care in the world. 

oh and you can bet this led to a giant fight between the four of them. fred was pissed at hiram for sleeping with fp. hermione was pissed at fred for being pissed that fp slept with somebody else. fred and fp had a big ass fight about fp sleeping with hiram specifically. hiram and hermione didnt really get into a fight cuz like... they were technically broken up. although she did get mad that hirams whole game plan with fucking fp was just to get back at fred. everybodys so goddamn sloppy i love my kids.

ive been seeing a lot of rather cringy lgbt+-related rant videos and posts on tumblr. these kinds of thing has been going on for a while now. i think maybe its just totally inappropriate timing what with all the trump dilemma that made ppl become more triggered than usual, but its come to the point where i have to go out of my way to make both a rant and a psa out of this post.  or maybe ive been following the wrong ppl.

anyways, those cringy rant vids/posts. they are usually white teenage girls who go on and on about how someone called them “miss” when “excuse me????” *cough cough* “ACTUALLY, im genderfluid.” 

ok. howbout YOU excuse me. bc frankly, you look like a “miss”, so thats why i called you “miss”. i mean like i wont call you a bitch until you look like a female dog. OH MY!!!! im sorry!!! youre genderfluid. my bad. correction: a genderfluid dog. so yeah, dont you act all triggered just bc someone assumed your gender identity incorrectly. how could i tell when you have your boobs falling out of your shirt?? you dont exactly announce your gender to the world, do you??? its only fair that i would assume so. empathize with the ppl who arent exposed to the different lgbt spectrums. dont rant about it. yall lgbt ppl assumed this “dont assume” policy for yourselves. im willing to follow, but there will ofc be ppl out there who are not aware. dont blame them. from the moment any child is born, they are subjected to this hetero-normative view of how a person is identified as.  they are programmed from a young age that there is an order in which a person follows. if youre not female, youre male. there seems to be no other option. being lgbt creates the opportunity to be someone else. not all ppl are exposed to this. those who do take advantage of it. 

im part of the lgbt community myself (as i am bi), but im embarrassed for what some of you have done to demean the value of the lgbt community. its like how ppl seem to always be hating on feminists all over again, bc of some ppl taking it too far and dont fully understand what it means. just bc you dont conform to the norms of society when it comes to sexual orientation doesnt mean you get any special favour. my friends, even the gay ones, have been joking around about how “omg youre cant do _____ just bc im gay like thats not ok.” but i find the truth in what they joke around about. ppl from the lgbt seem to always be finding excuses to be offended when someone comments on their sexuality. 

take it from my experiences. i live near two schools, so there are lots of kids in my neighborhood. the school im going to is a very multicultural public school that has a lot of brown and asian kids (my squad), and the other school is a prestigious private school specializing in art that is predominantly white. both schools are very close, so we know the ins and outs of each other. admittedly, i have lots of friends from both of the schools: lgbt friends, non-lgbt friends, and friends who jokes/pretend that they are lgbt. my point is: i know this kid from the private school. there was a rumour that he is gay. i confronted to him and bluntly asked him if he is actually gay. he started yelling at me defensively, saying “do you have a problem??? you cant just hate me bc im gay.” I DID NOT DO ANYTHING. i didnt speak to him again. on the other hand, theres this muslim trangendered boy in my school. hes quite famous due to his gender identity. when i met him for the first time, i asked him if he is transgender. he was cool about it and just simply said “yeah. im pretty famous in this school arent i?” he didnt get offended. he didnt act defensively. we were off with a very good start. since our school are more multicultural than the private school, a lot of us coming from eastern countries. eastern countries are more conservative and they dont take kindly to “different” ppl. he worked hard to be who he wants to be, and he is confident with himself and his gender. 

not totally unrelated to this, but im a friend of a girl who goes to the private school. nice kid, very cute, great at dance. she usually dresses in pretty dresses and skirts. but one day, she came in with jeans, sweater, and short boyish hair. everyone was surprised. then she told everyone she is genderfluid. there were a lot of genderfluid ppl in the private school, not so much in my school. when i asked her how she knew, she said why not??

it seems like there is a trend on being lgbt+, especially in this demographic (white, female, teen). as soon as its openly accepted, ppl will conform to become a part of this new thing. even after joining tumblr and seeing all these new lgbt+ categories makes me question myself. i tried to fit myself into this label, and i feel that this is what is happening. before it is accepted in western countries, the idea was very hush hush. now that everyone is beginning to accept it, suddenly everyone is lgbt. not like “oh im closeted bc lgbt is not accepted and now im out bc its accepted.” no, its like “oh this lgbt thing is pretty new! lets see which category i THINK i fit in the best and squeeze myself into this label.” im sorry, if youre an actual lgbt veteran and you have been fighting all your life for acceptance and equal rights. but there are ppl who are trying to conform to this lgbt+ “thing” bc it seems like everyone is out as well. there are even some ppl who would go out of there way to make a point that they ARE indeed lgbt+. you cant just wake up one morning and decide that youre suddenly asexual, or pansexual (when you havent even had a sexual relationship) or genderfluid. its not fair to those who have worked so hard. but then again, im in no position to tell you who you are. you are the controller of your life. but dont act all defensive and go crying to your followers just bc someone makes a comment on your sexuality/gender but  youre not confident/sure enough about it to forget and forgive. if this is truly who you are, then TAKE ACTION. you dont need to prove to me that you are lgbt, just simply embrace it by expressing it. BELIEVE IN WHO YOU ARE. and dont be ashamed. you cant stop someone from assuming when you yourself dont accept that fact. who cares what others think.

ok so. after all that longass rant with the telling of my whole fucking life story, half-assed motivational quotes, and some rather rude use of language, the moral of the story is: i dont have a problem with your gender identification or sexual orientation, im actually fine with it. but i do have a problem with people using that as an excuse to act all disgusted and horrified and lash out on social media when someone may or may not have intentionally “offended” them. if its actually offensive, fine, you are free to make a point about it and shove it up their asses. but when someone asks you if youre gay, you DONT FUCKING GIVE THEM YOUR ATTITUDE. saying yes is enough. its up to their discretion to either shrug and move on (which i would do bc i dont care about your sexuality) or they can punch you in the face like a fucking trump supporter that they are. it is only when they punch you that you fight back. DONT FIGHT WHEN THERE IS NO REASON TO FIGHT AT ALL.

Are Condos Profitable as Investment Properties? Let's Look at the Numbers.

The short answer is probably not, but maybe you know, it kind of depends. There certainly can be times when it makes sense to buy a condo or co-op.* For example, we recentlybought a package of 17, which was a very good deal. But there are a lot of things that you need to be careful about when investing in condos or co-ops. Well start with flipping. Flipping a Condo The biggest concern I would have with flipping a condo regards the market you live in. If you are in a dense, urban area like Manhattan or San Francisco, then there isnt much of a problem with flipping a condo. But in some more sprawled out areas, condos tend to be less liquid. In other words, they can be harder to sell. For example, here are days on market (DOM) for active listings in Kansas City, MO: Houses DOM Condos DOM

As you can see, in August of 2018, the average actively listed house had been on the market for 23 days and averaged about 30 or so days since the beginning of 2016. On the other hand, active condos had been on the market for 50 days and had averaged about 70 days since January of 2016. This is more than twice as long! Nationwide, according to the National Association of Realtors, condos and co-ops have a slightly longer number of months of inventory than houses (4.5 to 4.3), and that has been slightly higher for the last few years. (Months of inventory denotes how many months it would take for all the currently listed properties to sell given the number of sales there were that month.) While that discrepancy is much smaller than Kansas City, it must again be stressed that this depends on the market you are in. In a densely-populated city with a large number of condos, there shouldnt be much of a problem with liquidity. But in a city that is more spread out (like Kansas City), it can present a bit of a challenge. The reason for this is rather simple: Most people looking to buy a home are looking to buy a house. A survey from Zillow, for example, showed that 83 percent of those surveyed preferred to buy a single-family home. Part of this is because some condos dont allow pets, and Americans love their pets. In addition, Americans love barbecues. (Although the lack of lawn maintenance that condos provide is nice.) Related: How We Purchased Our Easiest (& Weirdest) Deal Yet: A Package of 17 Condos The other problem with flipping condos is related to the first; the HOA (Homeowners Association) fee. Each condo or co-op has an HOA, and each HOA charges a monthly fee. While these HOAs do provide some services (to be discussed below), what they mean for the flipper is primarily that your holding costs will be higher. Each month you fail to sell that condo is another month you rack up HOA fees. These may be relatively minor on a more expensive flip, but they may eat into your precious profit margins on a cheaper one. Again, I am by no means saying that flipping a condo doesnt work. You just need to know what kind of market you are in and build in a bigger margin for higher holding costs. Holding a Condo Far and away, the biggest problem with holding a condo or co-op is the HOA fee. Now, HOAs do valuable things, so they are by no means useless. They will usually do all exterior maintenance and repairs, as well as pool maintenance if there is a pool. They will almost always pay for trash removal as well. HOAs provide insurance on the exterior of the building (you will need insurance on the interior of your unit of course). Sometimes, they provide maintenance and replacement of the HVAC and electrical systems. Sometimes they pay for water and sewer. Sometimes they pay for a doorman. It all depends on the HOA in question. But these services are usually things you could have done cheaper or dont need in the first place. Most of the time, Ive found that the HOA eats up any profit margin I was hoping to have when analyzing a condo. For example, heres a condo with a $300/month HOA and a market rent of $895 (something Ive seen quite a bit in Kansas City):

OK, so you make $270/month, which isnt bad. But what if you want to finance this condo? A condo with these types of numbers could go for around $100,000 in many parts of Kansas City. So, if you got a 75% loan at 5% interest with a 30-year amortization (which is very hard to get on a condo bought as an investment in the Midwest), the monthly payment would be $402.62 ($4,831.44 annually). In other words, you would be losing about $132/month or just shy of $1,600/year. But if these numbers were for a house and you could get rid of that pesky $250/month HOA, all of a sudden you would be making $118/month. (Of course, your maintenance and recurring CapEx would go up some, so it would be more like $50-75/month). That being said, weve found condos that work, but even the ones that work are tighter on the cash flow. In Kansas City at least, condos that make sense as investments almost always have an HOA of $200/month or less. (This is for condos whose prices range from $50,000-150,000.) The Bylaws Another thing you have to be very careful about is the bylaws. Always request a copy while doing your due diligence and review them carefully. We had one condo we almost had to back out of (or flip) because the bylaws said we couldnt rent the unit until we had owned it for three years. Luckily, the HOA had relaxed that rule. In one of my less brilliant moments (of which, admittedly, there have been a few), I got a condo in Overland Park under contract. We requested the HOA bylaws, but never received them, and then I just forgot about it. Once we started to try and rent the unit, though, we realized that condo owners in this complex were prohibited from renting out their units. So we decided to sell. This wasnt the end of the world because we had equity, right? Well, unfortunately we ran into the problem noted above, and it took a good long while to get the unit under contract. Then, the buyer had to lower their offer because of something to do with the loan they were getting (long story), and I decided to accept it because that HOA fee just kept eating away at our equity. In the end, our profit came to $2,498. Not a disaster by any means. But also not the typical real estate success story youll hear from whatever guru on a late night infomercial. Related: The Ultimate Guide to Investing in Condos and Townhomes Regardless, though, you need to carefully read these bylaws and make sure they dont contain anything objectionable. In some areas (particularly those expensive, dense cities that are usually the best place to buy condos and co-ops), the bylaws give the HOA a lot of power over who an owner can rent or even sell to. Indeed, these boards can reject leases. Ive even heard of them rejecting refinances! But there are other questions you need answered as well. Are pets allowed? What does the HOA pay for? Do you have a parking spot attached to your unit? Etc., etc., etc.

Management Quality and Special Assessments One of the other things I really dont like about owning a condo is that I become dependent on the HOA to make sure the complex doesnt go to the birds. In fact, we backed out of one condo recently because the HOA was out of money, the complex needed serious repairs, and there appeared to be a high level of vacancy. As the owner of only one out of many condos, you just wont have the power to turn such a complex around. And if it starts to fall apart, theres not much you can do but cut your losses and sell (unless, of course, you want to run for HOA president and spend your precious time squabbling with the rest of the board and other angry condo-owners). In this same vein, you have to keep in mind the specter of the special assessment. If the HOA needs to do a large repair and doesnt have the money in the bank, it will have to issue a special assessment to all of the condo owners. This is just an additional fee that is over-and-above the normal HOA fee. In some instances, they can be quite high. Therefore, if you are looking to buy a condo, ask to see the HOAs financials to make sure they have some money in reserve. And take a look at the building as well. Ask yourself (and the HOA manager) if there are any major repairs the complex will soon need and if a special assessment may be coming down the line. Conclusion In summary, condos and co-ops usually make for difficult investments. But they are by no means impossible. A small percentage of our portfolio is made up of condos, and Ive seen plenty of people successfully flip them. Indeed, if you consider a $2,498 profit to be a successful flip, then I have one of those under my belt as well! Typically, condos and co-ops make more sense to pursue as a flip than as a hold and also make more sense in densely-packed cities. But they can be a good investment anywhere. I would just be very careful with them and probably avoid them as a beginner. *The difference between a condo and a co-op is that with a condo, you own your unit and a percentage of the common elements. In a co-op, you are a shareholder who owns a percentage of the entity (typically a corporation) that owns the complex. Condos are generally a bit more desirable and usually sell for more than co-ops.
