"The Double Stop Fiddle Shop" These are pictures of the recently burned down fiddle shop in Guthrie, Oklahoma. On Feb 24th, 2019 a fire broke out for reasons unknown and claimed the shop and more than 400 instruments passed down from generations. These buildings are pieces of Oklahoma history. They can be traced back to being built in the 1800s when 10,000 people rushed to Guthrie, Oklahoma during the land run of 1889. The owner was Byron Berline. He's a world famous 3-time national champion fiddle player. He has recorded with Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, The Rolling Stones, and more. Byron luckily had his most prized possessions in a fire proof safe. Including a 1923 Gibson Lloyd Loar mandolin worth up to $200,000. It's an all around tragic scenario. With the loss of such history and the unfortunate circumstances for Byron Berline its hard to find any sort of a silver lining. But, I will leave you with this... After the building burnt down The town of Guthrie, it's surrounding communities , and music lovers from everywhere united and raised money to support Byron and rebuilding his fiddle shop.
