there are definitely toxic and unsafe environments/people ON TUMBLR, and in some places it can be really unsafe to voice certain opinions! that is A Thing. but that doesnt mean that everyone is? squints

oh yeah! i'm not saying that tumblr in general is super fabulous and accepting and welcoming all the time either because that's just as wrong and stupid

there are bad places and people just like there are good places and people, in and out of the context of this site, and making a mass generalization like that is wicked dumb

GOD yes and I feel like even if Jecht hadn't been hit by a Plot Bus and had become less of a shitty dad {and/or Tidus had just grown into needing him less due to no longer being seven}, they could never have been that unguarded. Because Jecht is at best terrible at sincerity, and Tidus has always been in his shadow, either wanting to surpass him or wanting to be nothing like him. And we see that Jecht's response to not knowing how to handle messy emotions is to unequivocally declare this a No Messy Emotions Zone, I Mean It.

Whereas Auron also doesn't know how to handle messy emotions, but he doesn't try to mock Tidus into not having them, just kind of waits them out, which is an infinitely more helpful response.

I am somehow fond of Jecht, but there is no denying that he was an incredibly shitty dad and Auron, despite having no idea what he was doing, was better for Tidus than Jecht had ever been.

Well, I'm still with my parents, and mom was cooking. Also I had to physically get up and go fetch it, which was unattractive. But. Some days you need to eat ice cream for dinner. You can tell my mom is cool because her response was "don't eat more than half [of the half-gallon container]".

In conclusion, ice cream.
