Counterfeit Apple Devices Worth $400k Seized at Port of LA and Ontario International Airport
youtube
In a significant operation aimed at curbing the proliferation of counterfeit electronics, authorities have made a substantial breakthrough by seizing a shipment of phony Apple products. The discovery, made at both the Port of Los Angeles and Ontario International Airport, has brought to light the scale of the issue and the potential risks posed to consumers.
The operation, conducted jointly by law enforcement agencies, resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of counterfeit Apple devices, including watches, headphones, and charging cables. These imitation products, if successfully distributed, could have amounted to an estimated value of $400,000.
The gravity of the situation is further underscored by the implications of counterfeit electronics entering the market. Beyond the financial losses incurred by legitimate manufacturers, consumers are left exposed to substandard and potentially hazardous products that do not meet the stringent safety and quality standards upheld by genuine Apple devices.
The coordinated effort to intercept this shipment is a testament to the vigilance of law enforcement in safeguarding consumer interests and preserving the integrity of well-established brands. The seizure serves as a reminder of the need for ongoing collaboration between government agencies and industry stakeholders to combat the circulation of counterfeit goods.
As consumers and technology enthusiasts, it is crucial to remain vigilant and make informed purchasing decisions. By supporting authorized retailers and understanding the telltale signs of counterfeit products, individuals can play an active role in safeguarding their own interests and contributing to the eradication of fraudulent goods.
In a world where counterfeit goods pose an ever-present threat, the successful interception of this shipment at the Port of LA and Ontario International Airport is a step in the right direction—one that sends a clear message that fraudulent activities will not go unchecked.

For years, a peaceful, million-dollar farm in Indiana hid a dark secret: It was a serial killer’s playground.
When cops finally raided Herb Baumeister’s 18-acre property in Westfield, north of Indianapolis, they uncovered some 10,000 pieces of human remains — mostly crushed and burned skeletal fragments of the teenage boys and young men whom he had abducted and murdered in the 1980s and ’90s.
Nearly 30 years after Baumeister killed himself while on the run from police, authorities are still sifting through the remains and identifying victims.
The Hamilton County coroner announced last month that human remains recovered from Baumeister’s Fox Hollow Farm in 1996 were positively identified as those of Jeffrey A. Jones, who went missing in 1993.
Four additional DNA profiles found at Baumeister’s property have not been identified, bringing the total number of his victims to 12, Hamilton County Coroner Jeff Jellison said.
“Because many of the remains were found burned and crushed, this investigation is extremely challenging; however, the team of law enforcement and forensic specialists working the case remain committed,” Jellison said.
Baumeister, a businessman and married father of three, hunted gay teens and men in central Indiana beginning in at least 1980. He’s believed to have killed at least 25 people, Fox News Digital reported.
He reportedly used the fake name “Brian Smart” and targeted young gay men he met at bars.
Jones was the third victim identified by the coroner’s office in the last six months.
Before him, officials identified Allen Livingston, who was 27 when he went missing in August 1993, and Manuel Resendez, who was 34 when he vanished in 1996.
Baumeister, who moved into the farmstead with his family in 1988, used its sprawling yard and adjacent trail to hide thousands of decomposed remains until his teenage son discovered a human skull and brought it to his mother.
His wife, who initially blocked law enforcement from searching their property, later divorced her husband as more evidence began to pile up against him.
Authorities eventually searched the property when Baumeister wasn’t home and found the bodies of several victims.
Baumeister, who was 49 at the time, fled to Ontario, Canada, in 1996 after a warrant was issued for his arrest, and later fatally shot himself.
He was never charged with the murders and he did not admit to any of the crimes in his suicide note.
The remaining unidentified bones and bone fragments had been sitting in storage until Jellison decided it was time to reopen the case in 1996, according to WRTV.
The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office along with the FBI, Indiana State Police Laboratory, Dr. Krista Latham of the Biology & Anthropology Department at the University of Indianapolis and DNA experts from Texas-based Othram Lab are all working to identify the additional remains.

@hibernatingwithgrizzlies has a great post on the accuser’s suspicious back and forth of her claims to have gone to the police or that she has “evidence.”
In general, I think this collection is good at showing her to be unreliable and possibly deranged. I won’t speak further on mental health issues, as I am not a mental health expert. But as a layperson in regard to mental health, I think she looks troubled and cannot be described as a reasonable person.
Supposedly, this woman has gone to court before against alleged rapists. She doesn’t make clear if she won, but she does say that she felt “healed.”
My question is, what’s the caption (e.g. Brunelle v. Accused for civil, or R. v. Accused for criminal) and court number (e.g. 4813998227000658599)? What’s the name of the courthouse or its address? Who was the judge? Was it a bench or jury trial?
If these things actually happened, there is some documented proof somewhere, and she should be able to answer these questions.
I would very much like to read the outcome of that case, if it happened.
She wants to air all this stuff on SocMed EXCEPT anything that would lend her some credibility.
The same with going to the police. What’s the police report number? What’s the name of the officer she spoke with? Which station did she report to?
She doesn’t have to have ALL of this information, but I find it suspicious that she has NONE of it.
She goes back and forth on whether she has proof at all or if she has “proper” proof. She’s very fast and loose with her language and expects us to just guess or psychically know what she meant at any given time. She’s ok with giving SS and other suspect proof but is apparently holding onto some other unnamed proof which she considers proper.
She uses the qualifier of “now” to describe the proof she has…like how did you get proof of something happening years ago to manifest when you didn’t have it before?
And despite having this proof, still isn’t initiating criminal or civil proceedings. She is waiting for PHW to initiate them…for reasons I cannot fathom or indulge. (see what I did there? lol)
Like…police aren’t going to take their direction from rando tweets on SocMed. If she refuses to give her proof to the police and press charges, then he’s not going to be arrested if her supposed proof is “proper” enough. That’s just how it works.
Despite her claims, I doubt his attorneys will suggest PHW spend thousands upon thousands of his own money to try to claim or get a lien against assets she claims she has on Facebook. A civil suit is unlikely coming from his end IMO.
The Crown may sue her for the CSAM/Revenge Porn images if they were made aware of it. Again, the police are not trolling SocMed for leads on crime. They deal with enough actual crime and reports coming in daily. Just look at the daily docket for Ontario: https://www.ontariocourtdates.ca/default.aspx
It is possible that PHW had reported that nude photos of himself have been leaked and passed it onto the police. We might not have heard anything because criminal cases tend to work in stealth so that the criminal doesn’t have the awareness to try to destroy evidence ahead of time.
The fact that the photos were taken down, makes me think the website was compelled to. It may be because it was reported and they have a Standard Procedure to take down any reported CSAM, or it’s possible the police got involved. There’s no way to tell at this junction.
PHW might not waste time and money on a civil suit, but he could be willing to seek justice through pressing charges and letting the Crown take the case. He would have to be available for a statement and going to court, I don’t know him well enough to say if he’d do that. I also don’t know his schedule if he thinks it’s worth pursuing.
I’m just saying this is a possibility.
The government works slow as hell, so I wouldn’t be surprised if PHW had reported his nudes leaked, that it’d be several months before anything happened and the public was made aware. We’re also talking about warrants and digital forensics. All of that takes time and money.
We’re definitely talking more than a year between the crime and someone going to prison. That’s how slow the system is.
If I were the accusers, that’d be the thing I’d be worried about the most. PHW knows who he gave those photos to. If the police speak with them, then any lawyer would tell them to cooperate and rat out whom they might have shared those photos and then went on to post them online. The government does not like HAVING to go to court, and will cut deals if you save them time and money by cooperating with them.
Just look at the Josh Dugger case. Digital forensics had proof of where he got the CSAM, the computer he used, and the modem the information traveled through. They'll be able to trace who posted those photos.
Whatever evidence the accuser thinks she has, it’s not going to matter in a criminal Revenge Porn or CSAM case. There is no allowance for motive or any exemption for spreading CSAM/Revenge Porn.
“The motives of the accused are irrelevant.” R.S.C., 1986, C-46, § 162(7)(b).
If she’s on trial for Revenge Porn or CSAM, the only evidence she’ll be allowed for her defense is only going to be related to trying to prove beyond a reasonable doubt SHE DIDN’T upload those photos.
If criminal cases take so long, then why do I think she hasn’t gone while PHW might have?
Because she’s specifically said that she’s waiting on PHW.
Because he’s remained silent and is smart enough to shut his mouth. The accusers have run their mouth and are still active in the shenanigans of SocMed. That alone would sink any criminal case because she’s basically interfering with a police investigation at that point. She’d be hella dinged for that. Because nothing has happened, it makes me think she's just spouting hot air.

Missing: Stacy Lucien "Luke" DiLenardi
Tumblr media
August 17, 2024
Stacy DiLenardi was 30 years old when he disappeared in November of 2005. Stacy had lived in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada his whole life, but had moved to Sault Ste. Marie (Garden River) to begin a new job. The job was working as a technician at the Ontario Forest Research Institute (OFRI). Stacy still always had contact with his family in Sudbury, despite the move.
On November 27, 2005, Stacy talked to his father on the phone. On November 28, the next day, he went to work wearing beige pants and a biege/khaki vest over a blue sleeved sweater. Stacy left work for lunch that day, driving his 2003 red Chevrolet Cavalier to Sewell's Gas Bar.
This gas bar was located on the Rankin Reserve (436 Frontenac St). At 1:12 pm, Stacy bought some Player's Light cigarettes. After this, Stacy was never heard from or seen again. No one knows what happened following him buying cigarettes.
Investigators searched extensively for Stacy after he disappeared. On December 1, 2005, only three days later, Stacy's abandoned car was found "disabled" 7km in on Connor Road in Duncan Township, 13.5 km from where he was last seen.
There was reports that this location is considered a snowmobile trail 15 km behind Garden River First Nation Reserve. There was no evidence found, and the search was called off due to heavy snow.
In April 2006, about 5 months after Stacy disappeared, there was a second search that spanned over 20 days. Sudbury Police reported that up to 55 trained searchers from Sault Search and Rescue, OPP and the Sault Ste. Marie City Police searched heavily.
OPP helicopters were used, along with snow machines and specialized OPP canine handlers with cadaver dogs. The initial area where Stacy's car had been found was searched again as well. Law enforcement claimed to not just be looking for Stacy himself, rather any evidence that would suggest he walked off, or was deceased.
In May 2006 the search was called off. No evidence of Stacy's whereabouts were ever found. At the time. of his disappearance, Stacy had only been living in Sault Ste. Marie for less than three months.
Stacy DiLenardi is described as wearing glasses, known to smoke menthol cigarettes, thin build, standing at 5'8 inches tall, 155-160 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair to his ears, balding on the top.
Stacy is also described as having psoriasis, a skin condition, on his arms, legs, and back. He took medication for thyroid and depression. He had recently changed his name to Luke legally.

Is anyone else finding it suspiciously convenient that Mason Verger was able to find someone who had culinary ability, surgical training, and a level of sadism comparable to Hannibal’s own?
Like, I have spent many an afternoon poring through through the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons’ disciplinary hearing records.
And yeah, there is at least one former surgeon in the province who is now prohibited from doing surgery, and who is apparently very comfortable risking maiming people with unnecessary cortisol injection treatments; something which he presumably does to swell his billable services quotient, and for which he has been cited and/or sued repeatedly.
So like… yeah, surgeons who are not good people exist.
But to find one who’s also an excellent cook?
…and also desperate and/or reckless enough to tie himself to a mad, murderous nepo-baby, and thereby risk going to jail and/or being fed to the pigs himself once his utility runs out?
And who would take such obvious pleasure in the idea of disassembling a living person?
Like, how many disgraced surgeons did Mason have to interview? Surely at least a half-dozen. Did none of them think…
“Huh; this guy seems like he may be the next notably awful Canadian nepo-baby serial killer. I should probably put in at least an anonymous tip with law enforcement.”
It just feels like a lot of things would have to come together, and I really don’t know how Mason, even with his infinite resources and bottomless creepiness, would’ve been able to find this dude without coming to the attention of law enforcement in the process.

Administration of the Defence of Canada Regulations (DOCR)
"Administering the DOCR proved to be a boon to the careers of RCMP men. At the start of World War II, the Intelligence Section of the RCMP was a six-man operation at headquarters, attached to the Criminal Investigation Branch. By 1943, there were now 98 in the headquarters operation of the Intelligence Section, with important increases in the field: twenty more men working in Toronto, nineteen in Montreal and nine in Vancouver.
The effect of World War II on the overall size of the RCMP was also impressive. The RCMP force was immediately increased by 700 at the start of the war. On June 6, 1940, the list of police officers who could enforce the DOCR was expanded to include all RCMP officers from the rank of inspector and up, and officers of similar rank in the provincial police forces in Quebec and Ontario, as well as chiefs of police in municipalities with populations of more than 10,000. There were still not enough police.
On June 24, 1940, RCMP Commissioner Wood wrote Ernest Lapointe to complain that he could no longer meet demand, especially in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. Wood went so far as to express concern for the health of his men, so busy and over-extended were they. So, on August 30, 1940, authority to administer the DOCR was extended once again to include almost all police officers in Canada, whether at federal, provincial, or municipal levels.
One of the products of the increased RCMP workload were the monthly security bulletins issued by the Intelligence Section to senior federal officials and the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). Right from the beginning, some of the recipients of the bulletins were wary of the value of the reports. Jack Pickersgill, second-in-command in the PMO, analyzed the bulletin of October 30, 1939. His comments reveal some of the deficiencies in the RCMP analysis; they bear summarizing:
no distinctions between fact and hearsay;
no distinctions between subversive doctrine, and legitimate social and political criticism;
obsession with Communists, to the exclusion of information about Nazis or Fascists;
no evidence of sabotage or espionage directed against Canada;
no co-ordination with military intelligence, censorship officials, immigration officials, or External Affairs;
police spying on law-abiding Canadians, thus making the police political censors;
lack of capacity and training for real intelligence work directed against the real enemy.
Also wrote Pickersgill:
It is more likely that there are secret, German agents in the country. From a casual reading of these ‘Intelligence Bulletins’, one would scarcely realize that Canada was at war with Germany; there is not the slightest hint that anything is being done in the way of intelligent and well-directed anti-espionage work.
Pickersgill suggested that an intelligence branch be created within Justice, to whom the RCMP would report, in order to co-ordinate government intelligence efforts.
Nonetheless, King, Lapointe, and the Justice Department continued to support the work of the RCMP in spite of criticism both internal and external to the government. When the tide turned against the government’s policies of repression of the left, the RCMP ceased the widespread distribution of security bulletins. One shouldn’t expect just administration of a law that is itself unjust.
The violations of normal, legal protections under the DOCR might also accrue to another element, however, which explains why internees were never explained the full nature of charges against them. Some information obtained by the RCMP was retrieved secretly from informers within the Communist Party, sources that had to be protected were they to continue to be useful. There is a series of letters that establishes the policy of the RCMP and government about this secret information. In the first of these letters, the Justice deputy minister wrote to the RCMP:
If you have evidence which has been obtained through the medium of a police secret agent, the identity of whom it would be extremely undesirable to disclose, then I suggest that you are not compelled to, and should not produce such evidence, even by withholding it you may have little in the way of other evidence to support the order for internment. The recommendation of the tribunal is only a recommendation and not a judgement, and the release of the appellant after the finding of the tribunal is a matter which is in the absolute discretion of the Minister of Justice, and he may, with or without assigning any reason, order the further internment or the release of the appellant. In cases where you do not disclose confidential information to the tribunal, you should notify the Department so that all the facts may be brought before the Minister when called upon to act in the matter.
When the RCMP asked if the instructions about secret information were to apply to enemy subjects, as well as to British subjects, Lapointe responded in the affirmative, adding that he would consult with the RCMP before freeing internees. At least, some of the explanation for the functioning of the DOCR, therefore, lies in the government’s protection of its espionage network among communists.
In fact, during the 1920s, an RCMP Staff-Sergeant, John Leopold, had become a highly placed informer within the Communist Party. Leopold, who used the pseudonym ‘Jack Esselwein’, had provided  evidence in 1931 that permitted the government to prosecute Tim Buck and seven of his  leading colleagues in the Party. During World War II, we know of at least one other RCMP informer within the Party, although there probably were more. A certain ‘Koyich’ was active in Alberta, a fact uncovered by Patrick Lenihan, a Calgarian, and Ben Swankey, from Edmonton, both of whom were interned in Hull."

My Ideal Role as an Environmental Interpreter in Northern Ontario
In the heart of Northern Ontario, where pristine lakes mirror towering pines, and the air is scented with the earthy perfume of the wilderness, my ideal role as an environmental interpreter beckons. As someone deeply passionate about nature, envisioning myself as an outdoor recreation planner or park ranger in this untouched paradise sparks a profound sense of purpose and fulfillment.
Location:
My dream role unfolds amidst the vast expanse of Northern Ontario's untamed landscapes. I envision myself stationed in one of the region's enchanting provincial parks or conservation areas, where the boreal forests and crystalline waters create a haven for both wildlife and wanderers. Perhaps I'll find my calling overlooking the rugged beauty of Algonquin Provincial Park, or immersed in the tranquility of Killarney Provincial Park, with its windswept pines and the awe-inspiring La Cloche Mountains (see below!).
Tumblr media
Image credit: Gibson, S. (2011). Fall in the La Cloche Mountains [Photograph]. Flickr. https://www.flickr.com/photos/scott_e_gibson/5423666669
Role as an Outdoor Recreation Planner:
In the role of an outdoor recreation planner, my days would be dedicated to curating experiences that seamlessly blend adventure with environmental education. Crafting interpretive walks that wind through diverse ecosystems, planning immersive workshops on wildlife tracking, and organizing community events that foster a sense of stewardship would be at the core of my responsibilities. Collaborating with local communities and Indigenous groups to ensure cultural sensitivity and sustainability in recreational activities would also be paramount.
The job would involve meticulously researching and understanding the region's flora and fauna, historical significance, and geological wonders. By identifying key points of interest and creating engaging interpretive materials, I would aim to connect visitors with the natural world on a profound level. Guiding canoe trips along meandering rivers or leading starlit hikes through ancient forests, I would strive to instill a deep appreciation for the intricate web of life that Northern Ontario harbours.
Role as a Park Ranger:
Alternatively, as a park ranger, my responsibilities would extend to on-the-ground conservation efforts and ensuring the protection of the delicate ecosystems within my jurisdiction. Conducting regular patrols to monitor for signs of environmental degradation, managing wildlife habitats, and implementing sustainable practices for visitor use would be integral aspects of my daily routine.
Educating visitors on Leave No Trace principles, wildlife safety, and the importance of preserving the region's natural integrity would be an ongoing mission. Additionally, responding to emergencies, providing first aid, and collaborating with law enforcement to enforce park regulations would all be part of the multifaceted role of a dedicated park ranger.
Bonus - I'd have the opportunity to sport this awesome uniform:

Skills Needed:
To excel in these roles, a diverse set of skills would be imperative. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, would facilitate effective interpretation and education. A deep understanding of ecology, conservation principles, and local cultural history would also be essential. Lastly, proficiency in outdoor survival skills, navigation, and first aid would ensure the safety of both visitors and the environment.
In conclusion, my ideal role as an environmental interpreter in Northern Ontario transcends the ordinary; it is a commitment to bridging the gap between people and the natural wonders that surround us. It is a dedication to preserving the pristine beauty of Northern Ontario for generations to come, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who, like me, find solace and inspiration in the untamed wilds of this remarkable region.
As we reach the end of this exploration into my ideal role as an environmental interpreter in the enchanting landscapes of Northern Ontario, I want to thank everyone for tagging along on this imaginative journey. I hope it has sparked a sense of wonder and appreciation for the natural world that surrounds us!🌲🌿🌍 Until next time,
Madison B.

The Legal Consequences of Bullying: Understanding the Laws and Responsibilities
Bullying in schools is a pervasive issue that not only causes emotional harm but also has legal implications. In Canada, schools and individuals are held accountable for their actions regarding bullying incidents. Rogerson Law Group, a distinguished law firm, recognizes the importance of addressing the legal aspects of bullying in schools. In this blog post, we will delve into the legal consequences of bullying, the responsibilities of various parties involved, and how Rogerson Law Group can provide guidance and support.
Tumblr media
Legislation against Bullying in Schools: In response to the alarming prevalence of bullying, Canadian provinces have enacted legislation to protect students. Laws such as Ontario's Accepting Schools Act and the Safe Schools Act in British Columbia outline clear definitions of bullying, establish reporting procedures, and set consequences for those found guilty of bullying. Familiarizing oneself with these laws is crucial to understanding the legal framework surrounding bullying in schools.
Responsibilities of Schools and Educators: Schools and educators have a legal duty to provide a safe and inclusive learning environment. This includes taking proactive measures to prevent bullying, promptly addressing incidents, and implementing anti-bullying policies. Failure to fulfill these responsibilities can lead to legal consequences, including potential liability for negligence. Rogerson Law Group can offer legal guidance to victims of bullying, ensuring their rights are protected and advocating for appropriate recourse against responsible parties.
Liability of Parents and Guardians: Parents and guardians also bear legal responsibility in addressing bullying. In cases where their child engages in bullying behavior, they may face legal consequences, such as civil liability for damages caused by their child's actions. It is crucial for parents to educate their children about the consequences of bullying and intervene promptly if their child is involved in such behavior.
Civil Remedies for Bullying Victims: Bullying victims may seek civil remedies to hold responsible parties accountable for the harm they have endured. Rogerson Law Group can assist victims in pursuing legal action, whether it be through filing a lawsuit for damages or obtaining restraining orders to protect against further bullying. Their experienced legal team understands the complexities of bullying cases and strives to ensure justice for victims.
Criminal Consequences for Bullying: In severe cases, bullying behavior may cross into criminal territory, leading to charges such as assault, harassment, or uttering threats. Rogerson Law Group can provide guidance to victims and their families regarding criminal proceedings, working in conjunction with law enforcement agencies and prosecutors to pursue appropriate legal action.
Understanding the legal consequences of bullying is essential in combatting this pervasive issue in schools across Canada. Rogerson Law Group is committed to supporting victims of bullying, advocating for their rights, and holding responsible parties accountable. By recognizing the legal responsibilities of schools, educators, parents, and guardians, and seeking legal recourse when necessary, we can work towards creating safer and more inclusive school environments for all students.

The City of Toronto has taken a step toward cracking down on illegal renovictions after a committee of councillors approved a plan to regulate how landlords renovate their properties.   The Planning and Housing Committee voted to direct city staff to develop a bylaw that would attempt to curb the practice, which tenant advocates say is growing. They say the regulatory change would prevent landlords from evicting people by claiming they plan to renovate a property only to then increase the rent and find a new tenant. A long line of deputants decried the practice and said it's contributing to the housing affordability crisis currently gripping Toronto. Lawyer Karen Andrews from the Advocacy Centre for Tenants Ontario, told the committee that the city needs to act. [...] Under the law, any tenant displaced by a renovation to their rental gets first right of refusal when the work is complete. But lawyer Karly Wilson, from Don Valley Community Legal Services, said it's up to the tenant to keep tabs on their landlord and enforce their rights. In most cases it isn't practical or effective, she said. "As it stands, there is nothing in place to confirm that landlords are actually doing the renovations they say they're going to do and there's no way to ensure that tenants are being offered their legal right to move back in when those renovations are done," she said.

A 60-year-old California man was arrested at the Canadian border last week with about 400 pounds of cannabis and more than $600,000 cash in his car, according to law enforcement.
Andrew Lee Toppenberg, of Tustin, California, mistakenly ended up at Canada's Rainbow Bridge border crossing in Niagara Falls, Ontario after following GPS coordinates that were entered incorrectly, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Toppenberg was subject to an inspection because he did not have his passport with him, according to police.
Police said the money and drugs were located throughout the car. The cannabis was in vacuum-packed containers and the cash was separated into bundles and concealed in a safe, suitcase and lockable case.
Toppenberg was charged with suspicion of the possession and import of cannabis and possession of more than $5,000 knowing that all or parts of the proceeds were obtained by a crime.
Toppenberg appeared in court Monday and remained in custody.

This is tagged on Google Maps as the "Ontario AIDS Memorial Tree", but I have my suspicions that it was maybe dedicated much morr privately than I thought? I haven't found much more information on it, and Google also tagged it as "temporarily closed", which it clearly isn't. It's hard to find, though, since it was in a completely different place.
I'm also not sure which tree it actually is: the little tree where the plaque sits would make the most sense, of course, but this park pretty obviously got remodeled recently. Not too long before 2020, I think. Thing is: does this small oak tree look like it's a 30 years old? So, could it be the bigger oak beside it? Or the maple tree in front of it that also has a dedication/plaque in front of it? Did they mix up the plaques when they had to close the park because of the remodelling maybe?
Anyway. I don't think those questions can be answered (unless I find someone who was there in 1989 or something). I don't even think they need answering.
I'm not even that bothered (well... I am a little bit) by how hidden this place is.
What I am annoyed by is the park itself. It is honest to god right next to the "Ontario Police Memorial". Google even tags this park as the "Ontario Police Memorial Park". The big memorial is from 2000, but there's another one from 2017/18 dedicated to correctional workers. (The placement of the last one (in front of the trees with dedications) would go along with my half-baked theory that sometime before 2020 the park got remodeled/changed and they messed up the placement of the plaques when they put them back in (they tend to get taken out for safe-keeping when bigger projects put them in danger of breaking).)
Anyway.
It feels weird to me to have this AIDS memorial between monuments for law enforcement. Weird and insensitive.
