Here are some top tip to help with your mealtimes. If you’ve been making the most if this time and cooking nonstop but it’s not serving your health goals like you want then here are some simple and nutritious steps to make the most out of meal time. 1. Remember the Nutrition Basics Add lots of colour to your plate. Eat lots of fruit and vegetables, whole grains (instead of refined grains) and lean protein. Try not to rely on processed foods (though, no all all bad) and sweets to get your colours in. 2. Raise the Bar Try to add salads to your meals to increase your colourful foods and get those veggies into your body. Try loading a wrap with it and then add some protein too. Easy, quick and healthy. If you’re having to as a salad then add some seeds into it. 3. Salad Bar to Breakfast Bar Take some fresh berries, fruit, nuts, seeds, some oats, granola or muesli and add them to your favourite yoghurt or shake. Gotta love a smoothie bowl. 4. Sun is Out and Summer is Almost Here We’ve been having some lovely weather here in the UK. So why not have a change of scenery and take your meals into the garden or out on the balcony. Make it something special, have a BBQ or pretend too. Inject some fun into it all. 5. Don’t Forget Your Supplements Most of us are taking some sort of supplements and this that aren’t probably should be. Get the balance right Proper nutrition can do wonders for your body and your mind, providing you with energy so that you can function and thrive. To ensure that your body is working optimally, you should eat regularly throughout the day, viewing food as fuel that will power your body and allow you to perform at your best. For this reason, it is important to eat a balanced diet which combines carbohydrates, Proteins, and fats. 2. Fill half of your plate with fruit and veg According to a recent study, there is a correlation between eating fruits and vegetables and feeling more positive, and this is just one of the reasons why I’d recommend that at each meal time, half of your plate should be dedicated to fruits and vegetables. 3. Eat mindfully Mindful eating means simply paying attention while you eat, taking time to focus on the food you’re eating and how that food makes you feel. 4. Cut out the processed foods More often than not, processed foods offer little to no nutritional benefit whatsoever.
