Than suddenly in the middle of nowhere on the remote Oodnadatta Track we saw this! Fantastic metal art made by former Mechanic Robin Cooke. ( I first thought it where the remains of Burning Man🤣). It was really really windy and most of the art was making some sort of sound and the rusty windchimes where truly awesome 🎼🎼. This long abandoned railway siding between the old Ghan Railway Line and the Oodnadatta Track is in the middle of almost nowhere. This iconic Australian track takes you along the route of the original old Ghan Railway and Aboriginal trading route. For many years this siding was home to settlers who looked after the railway line between Marree and William Creek. The line closed in 1980. And here we met #katievisco !❣️ If you like to meet or read a story of inspiration, well you must check out Katie’s website. “Starting this July 2019, I will be following a long-time dream of running 2,112 miles from Darwin in northern Australia to Adelaide in the south, passing through the Great Sandy, Tanami and Simpson Deserts. Instead of the ease of using vehicle support, my husband Henley Phillips will be supporting the trek on bicycle, peddling up to four hundred pounds of gear, food, and water at a time. The run will take an estimated four months to complete. The Oodnadatta Track is an unsealed 617 km outback road in the Australian state of South Australia passing from Marree in the south-east to Marla in the north-west via Oodnadatta, with a population of about 200 people. Travelling aside the Old Ghan Railroad was really interesting and Oodnadatta was unexpectedly fantastic as the Roadhouse was painted bright pink standing along many deserted old huts, houses and caryards. On these Outback roads you will find regular crashed cars , some really old and rustic, many tipped over and are a good source sometimes for spareparts. I always do think about the people who where in these cars, did they survive? As many drive too fast on these unsealed roads and slipping off the road happens way to much.
