Cait - Does not totally understand at first. However, when F!Sole explains it, she thinks it's pretty awesome. She is quickly asking about F!Sole's best fights, and if she has any tips to help Cait improve her fistfighting. Fortunately, F!Sole has quite a few pointers.

Piper - Is really fascinated and with great interest, questions F!Sole quite a bit about classified missions. Fortunately, now that pre-war times are long gone, F!Sole is able to talk about everything she's done. However, she tries to leave out the more gruesome tales, but Piper says that she would never think less of her even if she had to do some bad things.

Curie - Finds herself a little worried about what F!Sole had to do and how it could have affected her from a psychological standpoint, but she is very interested nonetheless. She actively listens when F!Sole speaks about it, and Curie even discusses some of her knowledge on the subject.

MacCready - Thinks it is really awesome when he hears about it and he asks her if she did any work as a sniper. He is very pleased to hear that while she did not personally do any sniping, she had a friend on her team that did. She recounts as many stories as she can remember, and MacCready just watches and listens quietly, taking it in excitedly.

Deacon - Is really excited when he hears this and he is really curious about the more spy-oriented parts of the job. When he hears about the voice changers, he thinks it is even more awesome and he asks her if she could figure out how to make one of those since he could definitely use it for Railroad missions.

Codsworth - Already knew that she was a part of special forces, but he is very happy to hear more about her job now that she doesn't have to keep secrets. He is enthralled with her tales, and listens carefully, leaning in a bit as the action escalates.

Hancock - Is extremely interested and he tells her that she must have some real guts and seen some pretty crazy things. He asks for her best stories and they end up having a few laughs about some of the practical jokes that her and her military friends played on each other sometimes.

Danse - Is extremely enthralled and asks her tons of questions about it, wondering what it was like to be in such a prestigious militarized group. He makes some comparisons to the Brotherhood and he actually even says that he wishes the Brotherhood could adopt some of those strategies for themselves.

Preston - As soon as he figures out exactly what it is, he tells her that is incredible. He knew she was an amazing fighter but he had no idea that she was an elite soldier. He actually now thinks that she is somehow even more qualified to be the General of the Minutemen.

Valentine - Finds himself pretty surprised, but he's impressed with her abilities and the experience she has had. He asks her about the job, knowing it could not have always been an easy one, and he offers to talk with her about some of the worse sides of it if she wants.

X6-88 - Is quite impressed and he now understands why she has such incredible battle prowess. He believes that she is exceedingly talented and her time in special ops could only help her talent grow. He feels that she is an even greater asset to the Institute now.

Strong - Does not understand and even after she explains it, he's pretty confused. So she ends up just simply telling him that she and her team were some of the best fighters from her time. As soon as he hears that, he is much more interested and wants to know how she smashed enemies.

BONUS:

Maxson - Immediately is very pleased and interested. He asks her quite a few questions about the work, and once those are answered, he even asks her if she would like to teach Brotherhood soldiers some of the strategies and techniques that F!Sole learned during her time in the special forces.

as usual i recommend all my moots (i have a "#fic rec" tag if u wanna check that out!), but i figured this would be a good time to shoutout some specific authors whose works i go out of my way to read when i see them on my dash!

@yanfei-cafe -> dex has a lot of sweet short stories that never fail to improve my mood (well, besides the angst ones). her stories r like those little mini cakes. not too long, but just enough sweetness that ur satisfied! dex writes for genshin ships & for reader-inserts (primarily reader inserts) and i think even i've requested from her a few times hehe.

@tartagliaxx -> op very much has a writing style that i adore w/ how descriptive they are in their stories! i highly recommend them bc u can see the passion and effort they put into their work! each are delightful to read. if an author can make me read albedo and enjoy it, that's how u know they're good !!!

@witch-hazels-musings -> hazel is a sweetie to her anons and is super descriptive in all of her writing! she writes for a plethora of characters && tends to have the shorter scenario style w/ a variety of different characters in response to a single prompt. warning that she does have some adult content/writing on her blog, but it's all tagged appropriately.

Expectation: OP protagonist with riveting backstory fights to become the strongest hero, makes many friends along the way who recognize his talents and pure heart, big bad scary villains make him stronger

Reality: OP protagonist is already the strongest hero. His backstory? After fighting a lobster-man with nipples drawn on him with a Sharpie, Saitama decides to do a workout routine every day, and somehow ends up becoming the most powerful known being in the universe. His main issue is that now, he literally can take down any villain with a single punch, and he’s very bored of it.

Best Qualities: Animation is bomb, music is dope, humor is funnie, and Best Boy is a man whose superpower is riding a bicycle. Also Saitama egg head

If you were in a coma for all of 2015, this is the main thing u missed. Moving on.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun (Monthly Girls’ Nozaki)

Genre: Romance/ Comedy/ Slice of Life

Expectation: Smol shoujo protag girl grows closer to her oblivious crush through a fated, if awkward, incident which reveals an embarrassing secret that has to be kept at all costs. Through one another they gain more quirky friends, help each other grow, and, eventually, the male lead realizes that what he needs has been beside him all along.

Reality: The crush writes romance manga, and that is literally all the man cares about. It’s not a secret, but when he told people they didn’t believe him. Nozaki and Sakura grow closer, but only because he confuses her confession with a request to be his Beta. They gain quirky friends through one another, but there is zero character development throughout the entire fucking cast. Every episode is run by Idiot Plot. All the characters share a singular brain cell. There’s a tall butch lady turning every girl in the school gay. Please watch

Best Quali-teas: Everyone is baby, lots of gay shenanigans, and toxic masculinity does not exist, the OP is pretty nice, too

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. / Saiki Kusuo no Psi Nan

Genre: Shounen/ Supernatural/ Fucking Everything tbh

Expectation: Slice-of-life supernatural where protag has psychic powers, albeit limited ones, and has to keep them a secret at all costs for fear of his safety. He has a few friends he loves and cherishes, and at least two girls who are in love with him that he has to choose between-- all of which are people he wants to protect from his double-life.

Reality: Kusuo is very aware that he is the protagonist of an anime, and he does not want to be. Born with pink hair? He rewrites the human genome to make colored hair normal. End of the world looming? He just keeps rewinding time so he doesn’t have to deal with it. Harem situation? He actively uses his powers to avoid all love interests at all times (see the above). The plot of each episode is him trying to stop the plot as quickly as possible without killing anyone. The main issue is that everyone around him is either dumb or just generally attractive to plot-driving circumstances, and they all, for some reason, want him to be in on their adventures.

Best Qualities: Heavy “me and the boys” energy, plenty of Idiot Plot, so funny that my 47yo mom who hates anime admitted that it’s funny, meta as fuck, occasionally sweet scenes, equally good dub and sub, Saiki is babie

The fandom for this shit is like. Nonexistent. Apparently it came out the same season as Mob Psycho 100, so that might be why. I almost didn’t watch it, but I got bored and it turned out to be a serious gem. Go watch if ur having a bad day, it will make u cry laughing

Sakamoto Desu Ga/ Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto

Genre: Slice of life/ Comedy

Expectation: God I don’t even know. I’d say a typical slice of life where the quiet kid is bullied but makes friends, there’s a love triangle as they grow up together through high school, yadda yadda, but look at this dude. I can’t imagine him being anything other than what he is-- a legend.

Reality: The entire show is just a question of how extra one man can be, and how well he can pull it off. Sakamoto is an “average” high school senior (in the sense that he has no supernatural abilities), but he’s....far more than that. He’s Sebastian Michaelis if he’d never been a demon. Everything always works out for him in the most ridiculous of ways-- he’s just that good. He makes a McDonald’s uniform look like Prada. He’s so smooth his bully ends up having a crush on him (and yes, it is a gay crush. no heteros in this show). 

Best Qualities: lots of homo content. the side characters, inspired by Sakamoto’s grace, all become better people, and you root for them. The circumstances are always average, but the presentation is fucking riveting. Watch to send ur depression into remission.

Another one no one talks about????? U all were so busy with ur broku no hero macadamias and ur Nartoes that you slept on this. Now’s the time to take back what was lost. Love yourself and binge this shit. 

Nichijou/ My Ordinary Life

Genre: Slice of Life/ Comedy

Expectation: Cute girls do cute, girly things and have fun with Their Close Good Friends (TM).

Reality: Cute girls get into very bizarre situations with extremely manic energies. Sometimes, the situations are normal, but the girls react in a bizarre, manic fashion. It will make you alarm-laugh.

Best Qualities: Adorable art style, little continuity, relatable as fuck

A nice little watch if you’re bored. I think the eps are on YouTube.

Pop Team Epic/ Poputepepiku

Genre: Only God Knows

Expectation: Probably a cutesy 4koma-type thing with 2 schoolgirls having shenanigans.

Reality: A regular acid trip with lesbian icons Popuko and Pipimi who are not schoolgirls, but gods. Like if Eric Andre and Hannibal Buress were turned into omnipotent anime icons. Watch at your own risk.

Best Qualities: Lots of unexpected parodies and references amongst a shitpost of a show. The OP is a bop. Popuko terrifies me, but also empowers me as a young woman because she will not hesitate to kill a bitch. She and Pipimi love each other a whole lot, so it is LGBTQ content, which is always a plus. 

I’m sure you’ve seen this one floating around. It will make you feel fear, and then laugh. Now, finally...

Ouran Highschool Host Club

Genre: Romance/ Comedy

Expectation: The protagonist is a girl who is mistaken for a boy and must be the servant of six rich, handsome young men, all of which are in love with her, and her secret must be kept at all costs. A reverse harem anime with plenty of fanservice.

Reality: Haruhi is a genderfluid queen who doesn’t give a fuck what others think she is. Because she broke a Conveniently-Placed Vase and is relatably poor, she has to pay off her debt by being a host herself-- which means male-presenting when flirting with her female classmates to make her dough. The six rich, handsome young men all share three brain cells, and most of those cells go to the character who has one line per episode (usually, it’s “Yeah”. I hope that VA got paid well). The only love interest-- the “leader” and most popular of the six men-- is so dead-set on their club being his Found Family, he confuses his romantic feelings for Haruhi with paternal ones. This is obvious to everyone but him. He never gets the brain cells. 

Best Qualities: Trans characters!! Lesbians!! Extreme “me and the boys” energy, except they’re all rich, so shenanigans skyrocket. Many 4th wall breaks. The most powerful Host looks like he’s 5. Any “fanservice” is never played straight. Takes the Found Family trope to a whole new level. Nice Parks & Rec-quality balance between hysterical and sweet. Everyone is in drag at some point.

I know all of us senior citizens grew up on this shit, but you younguns need to watch the classics to appreciate the newfangled stuff. I recommend watching when you’re in a cheesy rom-com mood.

Pizza fights the Sistem

Yesterday i felt very badly all day, dont know yet if it was cuz was just a bad day or because I didnt have the occasion of laying down some virtual ink soaked by anger on this page. Ill recover today. Double dose...

I wanna talk about how revolutionary is eating pizza. It just fucks all the onanist tendencies of limited people that gotta always put circles in  circles and squares in squares ( and btw that s the game the give us when we are 2 yrs old, no big progression from that point) . I dont know why this topic, maybe is cuz Im in a place, Japan, where everything has to be meticolously categorized and processed always in the same fuckin stupid way. SIDEWALKS! I mean....SIDEWALKS! How can you screw sidewalks? easy, instruction for dummies ;

- lobotomize people convincing them that every rule is fondamentally necessary to society’s prosperity

- give them a fucking “walking direction” . So you gotta keep the left as strictly as when you drive

I always bump into tons of people because they dont care if you slept 3 hours and you had been standing into a cold operating room with your feelings and heart broken in 1000 pieces for 18 hours straight, they are gonna keep the “right way” no matter what. Since Im a very polite person I always say in these occasions “ gomen-nasai “ you poorly minded motherfuckers! But I m not making a racist argument about Japanese, it’s not  their fault, they were born in a society where everything was so overpacked and closed and pressed that everyone had to strictly observe rules and codes to assure a decent living. All this post is not about Japanese ofc. I always tend to say things using layers and layers and layers of allegories. Remember the fruitless pompous style? You are knocking at the right door . I d like to expand the argument to wider horizons. Someone once told me I “ look at things as they were black or white, no shades of greys”... doesnt this sound so fucking black or white?? What I modestly think is that people are scared of strong opinions, especially about themself , so they barricade their souls behind tons and tons of confy and reassuring garbage. And the connection with Japan is obvious, you gotta walk on the right side, mesmerizing yourself in the crowd. Let’s make a mental experiment ( i m a fisics geek, well, have been ) : you are a proton, big , tanned, ripped, smart,fuckin smoking hot proton, and you have your only electron orbitating around you. This electron is the only you have ( you are an hidrogen atom ) and the only you ll have cuz the chemistry ( actually fucking atomic forces) made the matching, not you. Now, this little, pretty, soooo smart and passionate and talented and superbly crazily hot electron just get tired of orbitating at some point because she ( ops) feels like it s such a heavy job. How can this happen? well, it cant. Not in physics. Not in nature. In order to leave his proton an electron gotta recive enought energy to move to the next “orbitating station” and more energy again and again ,station after station, till it can finally be free. At this point the little pretty electron is not part of the atom anymore and it cant say it still feels part of it. That s not being black or white classist : either you are part of the atom and you keep orbitating no matter what ( cuz you just cant exist out of it )or you are free and alone and ur life sucks ( i dont wanna tell you which is the destiny of a free electron, you check it). Why people cant behave like the matter they are made of? because you know, we are not made of dreams and bullshit like that, we are made of fuckin red squishy beefy meat ( atoms-->molecules-->cells-->organs-->body--> human). I think i know why. It s cuz we have a huuuuuge problem that avoid us from behaving naturally ( like THE japanese problem)... we dont eat enough pizza, or we do maybe but without realising our act of rebellion. We gotta confront with a terrible thing; the idea we have of ourself and our interactions with the world. We give rules and limitations to what shouldnt have any of those by definition. If you love someone you should just keep doin it till there is no love anymore . If you just run away, because you wanna convince urself that all ur problems dont come from you but from someone else cuz it s easier ( and we all do this, apart from me that im perfect by postulate), you are just gonna live forever like a miserable person. Like japanese.
