OnePlus Pad 2 with the Powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

A recent leak reveals the model number and Chinese analogue charging technology for the OnePlus Pad 2.

In 2024, OPPO plans to release a flagship Android tablet that is third generation; however, it may initially be known as the OnePlus Pad 2 outside of China. Based on this, it appears that the OPPO Pad 3/OnePlus Pad 2 will only see major improvements in terms of its new screen and SoC, which in the case of the latter will be the same as that of the OnePlus 12 flagship smartphone (as found fresh on Amazon).

By Anan Sadh – There are many different types of fast charging protocols such as OPPO’s open VOOC Flash Charge, OnePlus WARP / Dash , Realme DART charge, Qualcomm’s Quick Charge fast charging & PPS / PD Fast Charging. Some of these are proprietory ( Flash, Dash, Warp, Dart, VooC) & QC,while some are open platforms ( PD & PPS)

Nowadays, smart phones have quick charging between 18W to 65W power, with charge times going from 30 minutes to a little more than 60 minutes. Let’s broadly understand the differences.

1. Qualcomm’s Quick Charge QC3.0 / 4.0

Qualcomm’s QC Quick Charge is very familiar today & it is a representative of a high-voltage fast car charger. It was first launched in 2013 when the highest power was 10W (5V/2A). By QC 3.0, the power increased to 36W, & now it supports 200mV step voltage regulation, which is no longer a fixed set of voltage & current. QC 4 supports step voltage regulation down to 20mV and a current adjustment of 50mA. Moreover, it also supports USB PD+PPS.

Example OnePlus Dash & Warp Charging works only with OnePlus phones, well-matched wall adapters & cables. Warp Charge cables are slightly thicker to accommodate the extra heat being generated. It’s based on Oppo’s VOOC (Voltage Open Multi-Step Constant-Current Charging) system and is a star feature in the OnePlus 6T and every other OnePlus phone back to the OnePlus 3. Oppo has also developed the much faster Super VOOC, but it’s only available in a handful of phones like the Oppo RX17 Pro. Vivo.

4. Huawei SuperCharge

SuperCharge, Huawei’s proprietary charging standard, is built into phones like the Huawei P40 Pro, Huawei P30 Pro, Huawei Mate 20 Pro, and the Huawei P10. It’s a bit like Quick Charge in that it uses higher-than-average voltages to get faster charging.

To ensure that our results correspond to reality, we charge a smartphone to 100% when it arrives and then we fully discharge its battery. Once it reaches 0%, we plug it into its original charger and use a little software to measure its remaining battery capacity at regular intervals. You will see in this top 10 that Chinese brands are particularly ahead of this technology and occupy all the places in this ranking.

Important note, this classification only concerns devices still on sale. Some devices like Realme X2 Pro or the Oppo Find X are no longer marketed today and once occupied the top spots.

Is this technology dangerous?

Before presenting our results to you, it seems important to us to discuss the doubts that some may have on the potential dangerousness of such a technology. While it has been shown that batteries age less well when they heat up a lot, it is still too early to determine the impact of ultra-fast charging on the lifespan of our smartphones. Note also that some manufacturers such as Oppo and Realme use two batteries in their devices to reduce the heating temperature during recharging. By dividing the energy received by two, the smartphone retains normal heat and therefore does not suffer from the high power of its charger (it remains at low voltage). Only time will tell if these solutions are really without impact.

Compare the charging speed between Huawei P40 Pro and OPPO Find X2 Pro

As you know, Huawei P40 Pro and Oppo X2 Pro are not only equipped with 5G network connection support, but also extremely fast charging support. So between the Huawei P40 series and Oppo Find series, which one has the faster charging speed? Let me find out.

We tested the charging speed on the Find X2 Pro with the 40W Super Charge charger from the P40 Pro to prove that these technologies are proprietary and require the original charger from the brand itself. Unsurprisingly, the 40W Huawei 40 Pro charger takes up to 1 hour and 20 minutes instead of the 38 minutes that OPPO promises with the X2 Pro's own 65W charger.
