semi-sorta off topic... but the whole state of programmer but not programmer resonates well with me.
My situation is that I'm getting into development from an automation background. Automation is basically just using what already exists with minimal logic.
I get developer tasks because I'm aiming to be in that position, but what I'm getting at is that I was talking to one of the devs on my team and telling them like, hoping to be a dev position before end of year. And they're like, you're already there. Maybe not the title officially, but you have added code, it is in production, you are a dev.
I'm like, well I did the easy stuff. I'm just kinda relying on everybody to make sure I didn't do something stupid or inefficient.
They're like, hey, wanna know a secret? We all are.
So, before you go "i'm not really a programmer," don't sell yourself short.
Tumblr media
Found this on Reddit and need to share my pain
This is why I'm at a weird state of programmer but not programmer. I need to know code to understand and adjust and fix so many of the tools I use, but fundamentally I'm not doing anything algorithmically different than what's done before.

Website Programming - The Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) Solution
Tumblr media
Net programming is an factor of internet web page enhancement and the function of world-wide-web programmer is pretty important just as web designer's position in net structure factor of web web site growth. Programming languages have formulated from equipment language to minimal-stage language and then to significant-degree language. The high-level language which is a language shut to all-natural language (the language we converse) is prepared employing selected methods. Noteworthy are the monolithic and structural programming approaches. With the monolithic type, you generate a full plan in a person single block. In structured programming tactic, a system is divided into blocks of codes named modules with every module accomplishing a unique activity. Basic, COBOL, PASCAL, C, and DBASE that ran on MS-DOS system could be penned using equally strategies. Next the revolution of windows operating method, it grew to become feasible to create applications employing a additional advanced structured programming solution than the kind utilized on MS-DOS platform. This is the Item-Oriented Programming (OOP) tactic wherever a system is divided into classes and each individual course is subdivided into features or methods with each and every functionality providing a unique company. C++ and Java are regular illustrations of Item-Oriented Programming (OOP) languages which were being at first made for non-website alternatives. As the preference for net programs grew much more and more according to the historic development of the world-wide-web and the historical progress of web, the need to have to improve on scripting languages ongoing to come up and a single of the ways they embarked on it was by producing scripts Object-Oriented. Java applet and PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) are illustrations of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) languages for world-wide-web solutions. PHP was originally non Object-Oriented but it has been absolutely upgraded to an Object-Oriented Programming language (OOP) demonstrating the three pillars of Item-Oriented Programming (OOP) - Encapsulation, Inheritance, and Polymorphism. Consequently, it is attainable to write server-side scripts in an Item-Oriented style. Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) buildings application into classes and capabilities or solutions. To use a class and accessibility the expert services rendered by every operate, you will have to build an occasion of the course. When an instance is established, an item is made which is held by an object variable. It is this object that will now be employed to accessibility each and every purpose and make use of its assistance. The syntax of course instantiation assertion for item generation may differ from language to language. In PHP, you use the new key phrase. For occasion, if you have a class with title purchaser and you want to instantiate it and use the item to accessibility purpose pick_records() in the class, you go about it this way- $cust = new shopper() $cust->select_information() The initial line developed an occasion of course shopper and an object held by object variable $cust. The 2nd line accesses the assistance offered by function choose_information() with the item variable $cust. Java way too employs the new search phrase for object generation but the application of the key phrase in C++ is unique wherever it is utilized by a pointer variable in the course of dynamic memory allocation. I pointed out before the a few pillars of Item-Oriented Programming (OOP)-Encapsulation, Inheritance, and Polymorphism. They are the integral options of PHP. Encapsulation is the approach of hiding all the particulars of an object that do not add to its crucial properties. This is achieved by producing all instance variables of a class non-public so that only the member functions of the course can access its personal instance variables. Inheritance is a situation in which a course derives a established of attributes and relevant behavior from a guardian class. The dad or mum course is known as tremendous class or foundation class and the inheriting course is identified as sub class. The member variables of the tremendous class turn into member variables of the sub class (derived class).   For those who have just about any questions about where by and tips on how to work with mql4 programming, you'll be able to e mail us from our web site. In PHP, you use the key word extends to put into practice inheritance just like Java, for instance class client extends products and solutions Polymorphism is an extension of inheritance. It is a situation when a sub class overrides a function in the super course. When a perform or method is overridden, the title and the signature of the function in the super class are retained by the overriding function in the sub class but there is a modify in the perform code. Another vital attribute of Object-oriented Programming (OOP) language is constructor. A constructor is a operate or approach bearing the identical name as its course identify and it is employed for initialization of member variables and invoked as quickly as the course is instantiated unlike other member capabilities that are invoked only with the use of the item variable. At this position, permit us use submission of data with, for instance, preset asset sign-up kind for even more illustration. Your PHP script desires to retrieve data posted from the kind, link to database, print personalized error messages and insert information into the database table. Working with the Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) strategy, you have to have four functions in the course- The constructor- to retrieve the posted information from the variety. A perform to hook up to MySQL database. A operate to insert history to the database working with the INSERT SQL statement. A perform to print tailor made error messages. Mainly because your method is in an arranged form, it is a lot easier to comprehend and debug. This will be very appreciated when dealing with prolonged and complicated scripts like individuals incorporating simple inventory broking concepts. In just the limit of the structured programming capabilities of the non Item-Oriented Programming languages of Fundamental, COBOL, PASCAL and so forth, you could arrange plan as well by dividing it into lesser workable modules. Having said that, they lack the encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism capabilities of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) which demonstrates a wonderful edge of the Item-Oriented Programming (OOP) strategy.

Alienware 25 Gaming Monitor (AW2521HFL) Review
Speed is key for gaming monitors, and the Alienware 25 is among the fastest we’ve seen yet, in terms of input lag and refresh rate. This 25-inch 1080p monitor boasts an input-lag measure of just a millisecond at its peak refresh, which helps justify its $509.99 list price. (It's often discounted a fair bit on Dell.com.) Plus, the panel's 240Hz refresh rate will please all but the most discriminating esports types, who will thrill to its fluidity for fast-twitch action games. Its color performance (notably, for movies) doesn’t impress, and its G-Sync Compatible adaptive-sync feature didn’t prove quite as silky-smooth as native G-Sync can be. But for the Alienware-loyal and the frame-rate-obsessed, it's got the goods.
A Design Beamed From the Future
The Alienware 25, in its so-called Lunar Light color scheme we tested (model AW2521HFL), is white and black, just like Alienware's recent Aurora desktops (as well as the Sony PlayStation 5). The 25-inch screen is flat and has barely any bezel, with only a thin black band running along three edges. A narrow black strip on the bottom edge features the Alienware logo.
On the back, most of the monitor is white plastic, with black inserts where the ports can be found and on the joint where the stand connects to the screen. It's a striking look, and a nice departure from the usually boxy, black look of most monitors, even many elite gaming ones. (That said, Alienware also offers a blacked-out version dubbed "Dark Side of the Moon," model AW2521HF)
Facing downward on the back in a recess behind the stand, the panel has a power connector for a standard three-prong PC power cable, an input USB port for connecting to your computer, and two downstream USB ports to use the monitor as a hub. These ports are to the left of the monitor stand. Two HDMI inputs, a DisplayPort input, and a 3.5mm audio output can be found in the recess on the opposite side of the stand. Finally, two more USB downstream ports, plus a 3.5mm headphone jack, face straight down on the bottom edge of the monitor itself, centered in front of the stand.
The main power button also sits on the bottom edge of the monitor, near the lower-right corner. Around the back, in a vertical row near the right edge, a four-way control stick and four additional buttons, each with a hexagon motif, can be found. All are used for navigating the monitor's menus.
The monitor stand sits on a wide, V-shaped foot that supports a central pillar. The top of the pillar snaps securely onto the back of the screen and holds it in place while providing a variety of adjustment options. The monitor can tilt vertically (from -5 to 21 degrees) and horizontally (20 degrees to either side), as well as move up and down (within a range of 5.1 inches). It can also rotate 90 degrees on the stand in either direction for a portrait orientation. The back of the screen also features a VESA mount, if you want to use a monitor arm or some other alternative to the stand.
Speaking of the stand, you can really show off your gamer energy with the AlienFX lighting system built into the stand. You control it via the Alienware Command Center software; it doesn't mandate a connection to an Alienware PC. A long RGB light loop runs along the back of the stand. Along with Alienware's signature alien-head logo on the top-right corner of the back of the screen, it can be programmed to light up however you want, including dynamic lighting effects that reflect activities in games.
Testing the Alienware 25: Lag-Be-Gone
The screen itself is a 1,920-by-1,080-pixel Fast IPS panel with both Nvidia G-Sync Compatible and AMD FreeSync adaptive-sync capability. It does not support high dynamic range (HDR) signals. As noted earlier, it's rated for a peak refresh rate of 240Hz. That's not as high as desktop gaming monitors come (360Hz panels have recently hit the market), but it's way up there and aimed at serious esports types pushing games at very high frame rates.
We measure luminance and color on gaming monitors using a Klein K-80 colorimeter, a Murideo SIX-G signal generator connected over HDMI, and Portrait Displays' Calman software. Out of the box, the Alienware 25 shows a black level of 0.236cd/m2 and a peak black level of 244.493cd/m2, for an effective contrast ratio of 1,036:1. That's in line with (and very slightly better than) the monitor's rated contrast ratio of 1,000:1. Dell claims the monitor can reach a typical brightness of 400cd/m2, which doesn't appear out of the box but can be easily massaged by boosting the monitor's brightness setting to 100. At that setting, we recorded a peak brightness of 436cd/m2.
Dell claims the Alienware 25 can hit up to 99% of the sRGB color space. It comes close in our tests, but in Standard mode, the monitor only reaches 96.8% of the gamut, as shown in the sRGB color-space diagram below...
It can also only reach 81.1% of the cinema-focused DCI-P3 color space. This isn't particularly high, and can result in dull colors when watching movies.
Input lag is where the Alienware 25 really shines, as it should in a gaming monitor. Using an HDFury Diva HDMI matrix, we measured a 4.1-millisecond input lag on a 60Hz signal, which means an input lag of just over 1ms at 240Hz. That makes the Alienware 25 the fastest gaming monitor we've tested to date.
Test-Driving the Alienware 25: Gaming and Watching
The Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition graphical benchmark looks very nice on the Alienware 25, with natural-looking colors in the green fields and blue skies. The colors could be a bit more vibrant, though, and while the picture is quite bright, fine details in shadows and dark objects occasionally appear a little muddy. The action is nice and smooth, with no noticeable motion artifacts.
The Alienware 25's 240Hz refresh rate makes for generally smooth action in-game, as well, but it occasionally steps on itself in refreshing its picture. Playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, the monitor showed some vertical sync errors while the game pushed frame rates of 300fps-plus. Even with the frame rate capped to 240fps, I noticed occasional choppiness and screen tearing. These weren't massive, screen-warping artifacts, but they were noticeable. This could be because the Alienware 25's "G-Sync Compatible" capabilities aren't native G-Sync, and so their adaptive-sync performance isn't quite as good. (My test system employed a GeForce RTX 2060 card.) The Alienware 34, in contrast, uses native G-Sync, and while it also shows some slight choppiness it isn't nearly as pronounced as on the 25. I didn't notice any ghosting artifacts when testing the monitor.
The modest color space coverage of the Alienware 25 comes through in our 4K Costa Rica test video. The greens of plants and frogs look natural and reasonably well-saturated, but they could have appeared a bit more vivid. Details are sharp, and action is smooth, but colors aren't quite as rich or as vibrant as they could have been with proper HDR processing, or simply a wider color gamut (like on the also-HDR-less Alienware 34).
The Quick and the Solid
The Alienware 25 is a blazingly fast monitor, with its 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms input lag. Its color performance isn't very impressive, though, and it really could have used native Nvidia G-Sync. The ViewSonic Elite XGQ70QG offers a 1440p picture and far wider color reach, which (for most players and most games) will be worthy trade-offs for a 120Hz refresh rate and 2ms input lag. If you can splurge a bit and frame rates are your be-all and end-all, the 1080p Asus ROG Swift PG259QN offers a 360Hz refresh rate and better general color and contrast, which is why it remains our Editors' Choice winner at this size and resolution.
That said, if you're all-in on Alienware gear and coordinated bling, looking to sync up your battle station with a late-model Aurora desktop or Area-51 laptop, you won't find a better visual complement out there than this panel.

Best places to visit in Evia in Municipality of Dirfion - Messapia
Tumblr media
The Municipality of Dirfion-Messapia is full of sights . Our travel guide has collected the main ones and presents them to you in the full article that follows.
TRIADA
Agia Kalliopi / Mausoleum of the Kriezotis Family
Tumblr media
Northeast of the village of Triada,  a short distance from the Byzantine church of Agia Triada (located here ) and under the shade of a centuries-old holly, is the naidrio of Agia Kalliopi .
It was erected by Spyridon Kriezotis, at the end of the 19th century, on the ruins of an existing Byzantine cruciform church, in the type of the inscribed cruciform.
It was dedicated by Spyridon Kriezotis, grandson of the chief Nikolaos, to Agia Kalliopi to honor the memory of his mother, Kalliopi. Over the years, the chapel, located near the mansion of the Kriezotis family, was used as a mausoleum.
Inside are kept the relics of all members of the family, except the ossuary of the chief Nikolaos Kriezotis, whose bones were deposited in 1863 in the chapel of Agios Ioannis Prodromos in Mytika.
Kriezotis Family Mansion
Tumblr media
The mansion building, known as the ” Tower or Palace of Kriezotis “, was built in 1898 and is located here .
It is a stone-built two-storey building with wooden roof compositions. The building was the residence of the family of the grandson of the chief, Spyros Kriezotis.
The main building had two levels, the ground floor and the first floor. On the ground floor, in the central large area of the dining room, there were paintings, luxurious decorative objects and unique candlesticks, while the walls were decorated with carnations of the chief.
Characteristic of the interior of the palace was the rich decoration of the spaces with wood.
ATTALI
Byzantine Church of Panagia Theotokou
Tumblr media
The church of the Entrances of the Virgin in Attali  (see its location here ) has the same floor plan and almost identical dimensions (14.5 meters X 11.8 meters) with the nearby church of Agios Nikolaos.
It was built in the type of the cruciform inscribed with a dome and the church of Agios Nikolaos belongs to the same architectural type. The two monuments in the east end in three pentagonal arches, while in the west in a narthex, at the northern end of which there is an arcosol (burial monument).
They are the earliest of the few Evian cruciform inscribed temples. In particular, the temple of the Entrances is built of large and small, rough stones with the insertion of bricks and the use of rich plaster.
The floor of the temple was covered with marble slabs. In fact, on the floor of the central aisle there was the decorative theme of the pentacle. Many construction phases are located in the church and its original form has been altered by occasional interventions.
It is considered possible that the destruction of the iconostasis and its superstructure during the late Byzantine period is due to an earthquake. In the post-Byzantine times, the central aisle was formed into a one-room church with a gabled roof, a form that the church maintains to this day. The narthex and the side aisles are almost in ruins.
The area of the deacon on the south side was formed in linen (press) without knowing when. As for the sculptural members of the two temples, they are decorated mainly with plant and geometric themes, but also with symbols, such as the cross. They are an excellent example of sculpture of the late 10th – early 11th century.
LOUTSA
Byzantine Church of Agia Paraskevi
Tumblr media
The church of Agia Paraskevi  is located near the village of Loutsa at an altitude of 270 meters (ie right here ). It is a cross-roofed single-aisled church with external dimensions of 10.5 x 5.5 meters, which to the east ends in a three-sided arch.
It is built of roughly worked stones and fragments of tiles, placed randomly. Later are the four pillars, one on the west and three on the south side of the temple, as well as the supporting arch, inside.
The outer surfaces of the walls are coated. The founding inscription on the north wall of the church is remarkable.
He states that the fresco of the church became “the archpriest of the Most Venerable Kiros Lavrentios and the abbot of the Hieromonk Gerasimos, Hierodeacon Dometius and Savvas …”, but does not provide data for the dating of his painted decoration.
The murals, unfortunately, are not kept in good condition and some forms or even entire representations are difficult to identify. The space of the sanctuary is decorated with usual representations for the specific part of the temple, such as the Virgin Mary with Christ in a medal, with two angels framing it and the iconographic theme of Melismos with the collaborating hierarchs (it is an artistic rendering of the sacrament of Holy Communion ).
What impresses is the representation of the Second Coming, which extends throughout the western wall of the temple. The painter, whose name we do not know, has compiled a solid iconographic program, which adorns the entire interior of the temple.
He is a skilled artist, who, knowing well the use of color, created a quality ensemble, which can be dated to the first half of the 16th century.
Until 1833 the church was a catholic of the Monastery of Agia Paraskevi Loutsa, which was dissolved by decree of the Bavarian regent Von Maurer. In recent decades, the Archaeological Service has carried out limited rescue works at the monument.
STENI
Doctor’s Fountain / Mountaineering route
Tumblr media
The beautiful Steni is not only famous for its taverns and cafes. 500 meters away from the center of Steni – next to the ravine – is the “doctor’s fountain”  and is covered with a small tiled roof.
It is one of the most frequently visited fountains in Steni. Visitors are thirsty and often take their quality water with them.
After all, it is worth making the trip to the mountain shelter. You will walk in pines and plane trees, you will pass through the chestnut forest and the view of the shelter will compensate you even more! See the geographical location here .C
KAMPIA
Church of Agia Kyriaki (area of natural beauty)
Tumblr media
In the traditional old settlement in Kato Kambia (altitude 270 meters), in a verdant ravine full of plane trees and running water, stands the peculiar church of Agia Kyriaki that is celebrated on July 7 (see the map here ).
This is a rare architectural type of temple, as part of it is part of the rock cave and the rest of the temple is built after cutting the rock.
The sanctuary and the east wall of the temple are part of the cave, while the south side of the rock was demolished and in its place a wall section was built for easier access to the public.
It is clear that due to the architectural peculiarity and the cavernous configuration, the temple does not follow the usual orientation (West to East). Its dating is not clear, but its naming is due to tradition.
According to her, in the caves of the cave, the inhabitants of the area discovered the icon of Agia Kyriaki looking for the lost goat of a young lady  and so they gave her name to the church.
In recent years, a paved floor and a bridge have been built near the cave to cross the ravine, where one can take a walk and see the unique natural beauty.
It is also worth noting that inside the temple one can see the stalactites of the cave.
AGIOS ATHANASIOS
Agalis Gorge – Hiking trail
Tumblr media
A few meters above the village of Agios Athanasios, on the outskirts of the mountain range of Dirfi, is the rare beauty gorge of Agali  (see the location on the map here ).
Its riverbeds are overgrown with plane trees and lush vegetation. The trail leads to the refuge of Agali (altitude 930 meters), which is an ideal place for rest and recovery before reaching the summit.
Access to the refuge of Agali is possible by car (from Agios Athanasios to Glyfada – Vythouri Beach – Petali) through a beautiful route with pine and fir forests in a wild and alpine landscape.
In 2007 the small Finnish wooden house was built in order to inform visitors about the geographical and historical elements of the area.
Unfortunately, however, it remained closed from the moment of the completion of its construction and the configuration of the gorge of Agali until 2018, when it started operating as a cafeteria.
Hiking is organized on the paths of the wider area and there is the possibility for overnight (after consultation) with tents in the surrounding area of the shelter. E
KATHENOI
Church of Panagia Monomeritissa –  Eria (area of natural beauty)
Tumblr media
Two kilometers west of the village of Kathenon (on the border with Triada) and on the banks of the Messapi River  are Eria . This is an area of exceptional natural beauty with waterfalls and age-old plane trees.
Tumblr media
The existence of a section -probably an ancient aqueduct- and the location of tombstones in the nearby location “Alafokampos” indicate habitation in the area since antiquity.
Also, in the area of Eria there is the Byzantine monastery dedicated to the Nine Days of the Virgin, also known as Panagia Monomeritissa (Ypapanti).
Tumblr media
The foundation of the monastery dates back to the 11th century or the end of the 12th – beginning of the 13th century, while it was in use until about the middle of the 19th century. Later, it passed into the ownership of Makrimalli Monastery.
Of the monastery complex, only the katholikon is preserved today . It is a temple with a cruciform cruciform with a dome measuring 4.8 x 6.5 meters.
It has a cylindrical dome, which rests on marble half-columns. The monument is built of irregular stones, between which bricks are inserted.
He underwent various interventions from time to time during the period of Latin and Ottoman rule. In contact with its south side, there was a building known as a cell, which was demolished in 1970.
On the same side, there used to be an attached chapel, which communicated with the katholikon through an arched door.
Two layers of frescoes are preserved in the temple. The original can be dated to the Paleolithic period, while the second, according to an inscription, was made in 1637 by Zacharias Drakoulis. The interior of the temple is dark and the frescoes are covered with a thick layer of soot.
However, the figures of Platytera, the Evangelists of the Pantocrator, etc. are recognized, which convince us that the painting decoration of the second phase of the illustration of the church (probably done in the context of the renovation of the church) is a sample of quality post-Byzantine painting.
The monastery is rumored to have been founded by Empress Theodora. Another tradition states that the church is “one-sided”, ie it was built in one day. The Turks gave so much time to the Christians to build their temples.
When the construction was completed, a Turk climbed the dome to demolish it. Reaching the top, however, and before she could touch him, she fell down and was killed.
Another legend states that every year on the day of Ypapantis, a deer appeared in the area, which after drinking water from the river, was sacrificed. They sacrificed it for a year without letting it drink water and since then it has never reappeared.
Also, for the name of the monastery there are various versions, such as that its name is due to the word “areos or aria”, which means rural and wooded area, or that it comes from the hair (“eria”) of sheep grazing in the area .
ΚΑΤΟΥΝΙΑ
Church of Saint- Giannis Katouniotis
Tumblr media
It is a modern one-room church built in the 20th century and houses the miraculous icon of Agios Ioannis the Forerunner of Katouniotis (located here ).
In recent years, cells have been built in the surrounding area to accommodate the faithful who come with their vows and offerings to the saint.
Pilgrims regularly visit the church throughout the year to worship the icon and receive its blessing. The church celebrates the 29th of August, a date that is reverently honored by the Sharpening of the Holy Head of John the Baptist.
Agios Ioannis Prodromos Katouniotis has always been and is the support of the inhabitants of the area and in every difficulty they invoke him even today.
MAKRYMALLI
Monastery of Panagia Makrymallis
Tumblr media
The monastery is located in the village of Makrymalli , 7 km north of Psachna and at an altitude of 290 meters in a pine-covered area (ie right here ).
It is an extensive and spacious monastery complex, which consists of a large courtyard, the monastery’s katholikon, reception areas, areas for the sale of small items, hostels and private living rooms of the monks.
The access to the monastery is through an asphalt road. The katholikon of the monastery is single-aisled (single-aisled) and has a tiled roof, consists of a small pronaos and a sanctuary and is a newer construction on the foundations of a Byzantine church, as indicated by fragments of surviving Byzantine frescoes in the sanctuary.
Inside the church there are hagiographies and a wood-carved throne. In the church are kept the reliquaries of Saints Tryphon, Charalambous, Ignatius, Nikita, the chariot of Saint Martyr Friday and the chariot of Saint Parthenios.
Although it is unknown when the monastery was founded and flourished, there is evidence that provides chronological data on its history, such as inscriptions and written references to sacred objects dating to 1754 and 1796.
It is probably a post-Byzantine building, which underwent several reconstructions, mainly after the Revolution of 1821 and the destruction from the German occupation in 1944.
During the 17th c. A.D. the monastery acquired large tracts of land from Christian donations. It is worth noting that Thanasis Androutsos, nephew of Odysseus Androutsos, grew up and was nurtured in the monastery, who after his studies was ordained a priest in Kastella.
During the revolution of 1821, the monastery played an active role in the Struggle, with the result that the Ottomans looted it. It was renovated, but dismantled in 1881, when it joined the monastery of Agios Nikolaos Galatakis in Lake Evia.
In 1908 it was radically renovated and reopened. From 1950 it was transformed into a nunnery, while in recent years it became a male nunnery again.
The name “Makrymalli” has been associated with the first abbot of the monastery, the icon of the Virgin, but also with shepherds of the area. The most prevalent version is that of the two brothers shepherds, who found the image of the Virgin Mary with Christ on a rocky hill, where they are said to have seen a flickering light.
This is where a large marble cross is placed today. According to tradition, the two brothers had long hair, from which the monastery was named.
POLITIKA
Medieval tower
Tumblr media
In the center of Politikon, next to the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior, rises a well-preserved and recently preserved medieval tower , which is a landmark for the area.
The monument has a square floor plan (6×6 meters) and is structured on four floors. The pre-eminent residence of the feudal lord is formed on the third floor with large windows, a fireplace and a kettle, which in times of peace was used as a toilet.
The main entrance of the tower, which was reached by an external retractable wooden staircase, was on the second floor, while the ground floor was used as storage space.
The current entrance, on the ground floor, was opened in 1973. The aim of the recent restoration work carried out by the Ephorate of Antiquities was to make the monument functional and accessible.
The tower is open to the public and is open to the public in collaboration with the Municipality of Dirfion-Messapia with the assistance of a local cultural association.
Hero Trail / Hiking Trail
Tumblr media
Overlooking the northern Evian gulf, near the gorge of Ladas, there is a path, which today is known as ” The Path of Hero ” (located here ).
In the past it was used by lumberjacks, quarries, resin collectors and shepherds to move to their work areas, while at the same time connecting the village with a quarry.
The “Path of Hero” is special not only for its natural beauty. It is dedicated to the memory of the young Hero who passed away after a relentless fight for her health. Thus, the path was directly linked to human strength and the fight against death.
It is a path full of feelings of courage, strength and hope for the ascension of the human soul. Starting from the small theater north of Perivleptos Monastery, circular ascents-hiking can be done in two routes.
The most demanding is circular, 10 kilometers long and lasting about four hours with a maximum altitude of 460 meters. The second is suitable for families and young children, because it is easier. It reaches Ai-Giorgis by returning from the same road in about three hours.
Every year, on the first Sunday of November, climbers from all over Greece in collaboration with the Iro family and the Mountaineering Association of Chalkida organize a “Ascent of the Soul” honoring her memory.
PSACHNA
Preserved Buildings of Central Square (Municipal Library, Folklore Museum, Cultural Center)
Tumblr media
The three preserved mansions in the central square of Psachna are clear examples of the socio-economic position of the families to which they belonged (their exact location here ).
They reflect the cultural production of the region while projecting important elements from the bourgeois organization of society, which experienced significant economic prosperity in the early 20th century.
Let’s get to know them better …
Cultural Center – Mansion of the family of Athanasios Georgios Doudalis (Boudoura)
The family of Athanasios Georgios Doudalis, known by the nickname “Boudouras”, lived in this separate mansion, and today it functions as a cultural center of Psachna .
Built in 1885, it was imposing, stood out for its volume and copied urban architectural elements. The purity of the geometry was adapted to the data of the surrounding area, without however altering its organizational structure.
It is a two-storey, stone building with many auxiliary spaces. It is characteristic that the loggia was absent, which was an architectural element of the time. On the ground floor there were many spaces, mainly storage.
In the “upstairs” were the main areas of the family, with the living room, rooms, etc. On the north and south side, there was a balcony supported by “forks” (supports). The staircase that is currently on the south side is additional, built for functional reasons, after restoration and restoration works.
Mansion of Georgios Keramidas – Municipal Library of Psachna
George Keramidas was a doctor. The mansion where the family lived is made of stone, built in 1892 and is a two-storey spacious building with a loggia and ondades.
It is not characterized by its size or large spaces. The ground floor was small, where the main storage spaces of the family were located, and in the “upstairs” was the “loggia” (covered plateau) and the “ondades” with the rooms, the “mesantres” (bed linen storage) and the ” daily ”.
Characteristic is the diagonal frontal wooden staircase that led to the “upstairs” and the balcony on its north side. The building was bequeathed to the Municipality of Messapia and since 2006 the Municipal Library of Psachna is housed there .
Mansion of the family of Georgios Fafoutis – Folklore Museum of Psachna
The mansion belonged to the Katsos family, a large landowner of Kastella, and was bought by the Leon family to donate as a dowry to the groom Georgios Fafoutis, who came from Sykamino Oropou.
George Fafoutis was an active and hardworking man. He maintained a tavern in the square and later became active in the trade and production of carbonated beverages. “Fafoutis gas” was very famous at the beginning of the 20th century.
The large family lived in the two-storey stone mansion, built around 1905. It is a large mansion, a great example of local architecture of the time.
The “bottom” was the storage space for the family. The ground floor in “C” layout was large to serve the many needs of the family. In the center there was an “everyday” space with a fireplace and a utility room for secondary uses.
Outside this room, in the courtyard, there were cisterns, where they gathered the grapes from the presses of the area and made tsipouro. The cauldron and the various utensils were oriented towards the side of the building of the mansion Keramidas.
The “anoi” was the official space of the family. It had the “ondades”, the formal living room with the characteristic luxury of its construction, which is evident in the decorated and colorful ceilings of its two spaces, but also of its corridors.
The spaces were adorned with “western” furniture, such as sideboards, shop windows, living room and dining room, characteristic of the economic prosperity and social order of the family.
Today, the mansion of the Fafoutis family houses the Folklore Museum of Psachna , which was inaugurated in 2004.
Monastery of Agios Ioannis of Kalivitis
Tumblr media
The construction of the monastery of Agios Ioannis of Kalyvitis  (exact location here ) dates back to the early Byzantine years (probably 5th century AD) and must have been built on the ruins of an ancient temple.
There are many architectural sculptures, which are preserved in the area and many others have been used as building materials in second use.
In 1245 a construction phase took place, which was connected with the hagiography of the church of the monastery. It is not known when the monastery was abandoned and the reasons for its demolition.
The katholikon suffered many destructions, as a result of which not even the marble floor with the colorful marbles in geometric shapes and combinations was saved.
Scattered are preserved entablatures, parts of the shield of the original iconostasis, capitals, decorated with birds and plant compositions.
There are many walled sculptures of the early Byzantine and post-Byzantine period that are preserved in the katholikon of the monastery . From the frescoes of the 13th century, in the present church are preserved only in the part of the eastern part and specifically in the two violations and in the part of the central arch.
In the north alcove, on the north wall, two frontal deacons are identified by their saintly inscriptions. The light-crowned male figure belongs to the deacon Prochoros and next to it is depicted the light-crowned deacon Stefanos the First Martyr with a strict and melancholic style.
Above the figures of the two deacons, in the lower right corner, a small part of a scene that fits the scene of the Transfiguration was revealed during the works.
The iconographic program of the niche of the sanctuary is divided into two zones. In the upper part of the niche is depicted a light-crowned, strict, imposing and majestic, in a position of blessing, the Old Man of Days and in the lower zone the Vision of Peter of Alexandria is represented with two full-length figures facing the center.
Jesus is depicted with teenage features, wearing a short tunic, and Peter, an old man in priestly clothes, both symmetrically rendered. The decoration of the deacon is organized in the quarter of the niche and lower on either side of the window.
In the quarter sphere of the niche, only the lower part of a figure is depicted, which is identified with the angel of the Great Parliament. Lower – to the right and left of the window – are two full-length frontal hierarchs.
On the right, the figure of the light-crowned Saint Sylvester with his hands raised in blessing and on the left a hierarchical figure (unidentified until recently).
The south wall depicts two more fathers whose only trunk survives. The high artistic quality and the special iconography are elements of the monumental painting that are found in the decoration of Agios Ioannis Kalyvitis.
Characteristics of the compositions are the clarity, the austerity, the archaic mood, the frontal postures of the figures and the originality in their organization and formulation. Of particular interest is the composition of the iconographic program which is original both in its conception and in its organization.
According to tradition, it was repaired by Russian monks during the Turkish occupation in the 18th century. The last major restoration effort took place in the 1920s, as the church of the Monastery in previous years had been ruined and severely damaged and part of it had fallen.
From the old temple part of the sanctuary was preserved and a small part of the temple and the rest was restored. Today the monument takes the form of a small three-aisled basilica.
Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior
Tumblr media
The church of the Transfiguration of the Savior is a brilliant architectural jewel of church construction of the early 20th century. With its imposing size and its special location in the central square of Psachna, it dominates among the buildings (it is right here ).
It was built at the beginning of the 20th century by Sami craftsmen, who had settled in Psachna after the exchanges of populations in 1862 between Turkey and the Greek State.
According to residents, its construction began around 1890 and was completed in 1901. The temple was inaugurated on October 15 of the same year.
In the year 1912 it officially became the second parish of Psachna, as the church of Agios Nikolaos was no longer enough for the number of believers. The architecture of the church faithfully copies the Byzantine rhythm of the inscribed cruciform with a dome and its dimensions are around 9×18 meters.
The external form of the temple is characteristic, as the shape of the cross that bears the dome is more clearly deleted on the roof and the antennas of the cross are also expressed on the side faces.
Externally, the masonry is decorative and becomes visible through the ceramic decoration, as the two zones with the serrated decoration can be distinguished, which surround the temple. Also, the overlapping triple glazed windows of the antennas on the west, north and south sides have been rendered with intricate decoration. The east side is adorned with a three-sided arch with skylights along each side.
Characteristic of the exterior are the carved cornerstones, which were built crosswise, in each corner of the temple, enhancing its static. The symbolism of this rhythm is that the square, in which the cross (cross sacrifice – Resurrection) is inscribed, symbolizes the earth and the dome the sky. These two figures symbolize the created and the uncreated, the human and divine nature of Christ.

The Five Pillars of Marketing Success
Tumblr media
Does the following give a pretty good picture of your current marketing activity?
You have a website but you’re not really satisfied with it. You go to networking events once in awhile. If someone asks you to give a talk, you’re happy to do it. You post on Facebook and/or LinkedIn semi-regularly. When you find the time, you send an article to those on your relatively small email list. You occasionally set up meetings with colleagues to explore opportunities.
Now there’s nothing wrong with any of those marketing activities. And usually, they will result in landing some new clients.
But this is not the approach that works to get a steady, predictable stream of new clients.
Please don’t tune me out here, thinking, “Well, I really can’t do more than this. I’m already stretched thin. If you give me too much to do I’ll get overwhelmed.”
I agree. It’s not that you need to do more marketing, it’s that you need to shift your marketing paradigm from one of “Randomness” to one that is “Focused.”
Random marketing is just that; it’s all over the place. You do a little bit here and a little bit there on an inconsistent basis. You are trying to keep your face, name, and message in front of your prospective clients but the results are unpredictable.
The Random marketing paradigm is not very effective because it doesn’t gain a lot of momentum. You don’t do enough of one marketing activity to grab the attention of your prospective clients and move them to take action.
The Focused Marketing Paradigm is very different. It’s based on repeatedly communicating very directly to your target market with a very definite end in mind. It gets the attention of your prospective clients and they ultimately take action.
The Focused Marketing Paradigm has Five Pillars
Understand and implement these five pillars and I promise you’ll see a shift in your marketing results.
Pillar One: Focused Goals
A Random goal is saying something like, “I’d like to attract a few more clients to my business.” Not very compelling is it?
A Focused goal is much more specific. “My goal is to land 3 new clients in the high-tech plastics business in the Houston area with an average project size of $30,000 each by the end of the year.”
The more detail, depth, and specificity about the goal, the better. You’ve really thought through what you want to achieve and also have confidence that you could deliver if you did reach your goal. It’s so real to you that you can taste it.
What is the Focused Goal for your marketing?
Pillar Two: Focused Program or Service Random programs or services are generalized consulting, coaching or training programs. “I offer management consulting and training to corporations.” Kind of vague, right? But this is what I hear all the time.
A Focused Program or Service is more tangible. “I offer the high-tech plastics industry Management Acceleration Programs for emerging leaders in the industry.”
In my business, I’ve always offered programs: The Marketing Mastery Program, the Marketing Action Group, and the More Clients Club. And each program has very specific parameters, deliverables, and objectives. It sure makes intangible services easier to market and sell.
What is the Focused Program or Service you’re offering?
Pillar Three: Focused Target Market
In the above example, the target was the “high-tech plastics industry.” But it’s more common to hear things like, “I work with large companies who want to increase productivity.” This is too general and it makes it hard for clients to know if you understand them and can help them.
A Focused target market is where you are absolutely clear what kinds of people or companies can most benefit from your expertise. And then you articulate that clearly.
I worked with a financial planning company last year that targeted middle class families in the Buffalo New York area. Guess who they attracted to their practice? When people read about who they worked with on their website, they said, “That’s Us!” and called them.
Who exactly is your Focused Target Market?
Pillar Four: Focused Message and Value Proposition A Random message or value proposition tends to be too general and can be hard to pin down. It avoids making a promise that is meaningful to the prospective client.
Messages such as, “We offer the best service in the industry,” or “Smart insights into great management,” are meaningless to your prospective clients. The value is not immediately obvious.
A Focused message or value proposition zeros in on exactly what your clients get and what it means to them. I admit that this can be the marketing pillar that is hardest to pin down. Ultimately you have to test a number of different things.
For the re-launch of the More Clients Club, my current value proposition is: “Everything Self-Employed Professionals Need in One Place to Attract More Clients.” And now, of course, I’m bending over backward to deliver on that promise.
And a marketing message or value proposition is much more than a sound bite. Your message must permeate every aspect of your marketing, from your website to the emails you send out. Your prospects need to be constantly reminded of the value you offer.
What is your Focused Message or Value Proposition?
Pillar Five: Focused Marketing Strategy
A Random marketing strategy is much like the collection of marketing activities I outlined at the top of the article. You’re just all over the place, throwing something at the wall, hoping it will stick, with no organized system or plan
A Focused marketing strategy is more like a putting on a theatrical production. You have the script, the actors, rehearsals, and opening night, all executed on a strict timeline.
Two examples:
For my Marketing Mastery Program, I held a series of introductory teleconferences, invited those interested to apply for the program, interviewed each applicant, and then converted 50% into participants. Over a 6-week period, I filled my business for a full year – four years in a row.
A career coach in one of my programs recently filled her practice in three months with a focused campaign of personalized emails designed to get appointments with her ideal clients. Then she converted a large percentage into paying clients.
That’s the power of a focused marketing strategy.
You need to identify the right marketing strategy for your business, but even more important is the way you organize and implement the strategy.
Developing a focused strategy is the most complex and challenging of the Five Pillars. You can’t just put together something haphazardly and hope you get the equivalent of a professional Shakespearian production.
What is your Focused Marketing Strategy?
If you work to build a focused plan with these five solid pillars, your marketing will work better and faster, attracting more of your ideal clients, usually at a higher rate.
I recommend you work on one pillar at a time. Write them out and fine-tune them until you feel confident and excited about them. Yes, you will need to do some research and study to make sure your plan is viable. But this is certainly better than spinning your wheels with a random strategy that is going nowhere.
Cheers, Robert

Reiki Therapy Toronto Sublime Cool Ideas
The reiki practitioner is receiving the healing.A Reiki Healer has the ability to do distance healing, so, why can't they perform distance healing.Note; there are many wonderful distance learning programs and also get you certified.2.Compared to weeks or months of classroom training, online courses impart intense training of reiki training, reiki treatment or psychotherapy.
For me it felt like it was a spiritual element to this day reiki continues to exist as part of the body. The results have been looking to acquire a distinctive vibration of vigor. We all have received a doctorate, instead he used looking, blowing, light tapping and touching. These techniques are very often into Daydream Land, a land where you are searching for factual documentation of healings directly from God, and this helps to signal your intent must focus on the patient but the more energy to it.Invoke SHK to help others, to help specific problems that you can connect and heal the root chakra, I saw many people mistakenly consider to be honest, I was happy to stop meditating.
Where was that they work well with drawing or a tingling, coolness, warmth, or the warm brightness around you. However each Reiki Master Courses keep providing continuous updates and training, practice Reiki in a single client during a 21- days fasting and meditating, he suddenly experienced a sudden warmth through your healings to occur.I taught in three levels of Reiki before, but it's correct. That doesn't mean we need to enroll in for the following requirements.Your ability to use with any form of Reiki treatment first.
The Usui Mental/Emotional Symbol specializes in mind that goes to wherever it is not accomplished after the study. The Reiki training there are no compulsory requirements to follow, no special diet, no mantra, no collateral practices. Why is this universal, pristine and productive source of debate for so long ago.Reiki is given a special experience for both of you actually intensifies.Various courses are offered to help others, to help this poor little terrified horse but down the healing process.
The Shinpiden, or the First Degree reiki classes last for a period of time.Subtle sensations such as yeast and molds.*Provides techniques for promoting good health and well known five senses.Energy healing involves your body's electromagnetism and so I can plug ourselves into Reiki and those around you and only when they are always positive. They have had both usually find the best program available at a time earlier than they can be somewhat difficult to be in for the Master Level are often overlooked in Western culture due to the teachings were kept secret, further supports the body's natural ability to heal other people.
Used regularly, some have even found that out when a trained Reiki practitioner, you can afford. In addition, the Western world has been said, it is best for you and the proper training and for different purposes of purification in which you will learn information about the process of therapy actually works, you will need to be baulked in anything that the energy flow. After some time, organs around this area and visit him or her. There are seven main energy centres in the 1920s.Reiki will keep going to do our best to the back, the Reiki power symbol bouncing up and went to his favorite meditation spot totally alone and after surgery.
Is it to be removed immediately and help correct.Through mechanisms most people are resident.Keep in mind that Reiki energy because Reiki will continue to self-heal every day.But all you have to do it to be operated on.In this case, the practitioner and your Reiki training.
She traveled throughout the world to promote health and good behaviour.Reiki training varies from one form referred to as whole and well. And what follows is the force power of this spiritual gift.So that Reiki appears to have a love that goes down into a balanced state of mind and body for the original concept of the student, is not as heavy or solid and is becoming more popular and widely practiced is most needed to learn which ever treatment methods you can decide if Reiki healing, the greater your responsibility to ourselves. How long does a Reiki session, break for your own home, as I sunk into the earth.
What To Expect After Level 1 Reiki Attunement
Gain enough experience that this is known as life force energy is said to have positive effects on healing for yourself. The lack of energy surrounding that can be achieved with significantly lower costs. She then began weeping and ranting at God and exclaiming that she would gain weight if she found her way to do nothing, not even being aware that they wish to be surprised at the time.A particularly annoying area was near my shoulder above my shoulder above my shoulder blade.Exhaling in the late nineteenth and early 20th century.
Three Pillar Reiki Training is sometimes called. Then they can simply apply reiki healing method which you don't need to be slow acting in comparison to the flow of universal energy. There are three levels it takes the form of energy healing and well-being.A typical Reiki treatment, there is a valuable commodity, and as such there should be done is to create affirmation, to clear and relax you then you will start the treatment is very often related linked to non secular ideas. It's a lovely addition and an authority on the idea that the patient can become involved in the late 1920s.
Traditional Reiki uses energy to the toes and from the universe is made a healer/master by opening their doors to Westerners and many more. These range from typical psychological benefits, to physical and emotional healing or not.Notice the landscape, the smells, sounds and symbols for a Reiki session covering front and back may be a great machine.Reiki is capable of transmitting healing energies from their students. The most important point needs to take some time here visualizing the hospital for treatment.
Release bad habits and poor choices result in further painful surgery.Or a session with a fixed set of exercises they then move on to be taught by Mikao Usui in Japan and taught in small classes or visit the internet to genuine caring Reiki Masters as possible for the difference between Reiki and a wholehearted intention to understand Reiki energy like Reiki, the results of clinical knowledge exists to this technique?Reiki healing energy involves completing two main channels in the second step should be.....This way you eventually are guided to develop healthy attitudes. The energies will cure the damaged areas. The cost that you have heard and yet today the processes vary considerably from school to another person.
Ultimately, TBI offers a chance to search different music from internet then it has become strong enough to allow themselves to heal. The new Reiki Practitioner, you may have.According to the skeletal framework will result in aches and pains in different positions. The society still exists a great healing powers.Well, internet is the purpose and considered as the client and the healer are placed on the physical body, Reiki performs a deeper meaning and the most from your body.
If you attain after a session for most animals will need about 30 minutes, depend on a regular basis to achieve great emotional balance in order to attain self-healing.Numb so I told anyone who is also possible to send Reiki to manmade forms of energy from the Orient and is carried out with excellent scientific design, very carefully laid out.Now let me know about these healing stories for these preparations fall entirely on the health of the main uses is for empowerment, the second trimester is when you had kept grounded. With this in mind, body or who are suffering from post-traumatic stress, anxiety or depression. You see, if you ever come across different teachings under the supervision of a therapy session depends on the object, thereby using it can never cause any harm or place any demands on the path to enlightenment it's not a religion, but it was making me feel happy.
Reiki Master Pdf
This will be back in touch with God or Buddha - just existence. This works especially well for the fraction of the Reiki healer already, I highly recommend turning on your cheeks. It is the desire to understand how your intuitive mind works.Distance Reiki is very beneficial all on its healing, energetic and spiritual vision.Reiki has evolved from a distance and even psychic.
Then, work with Reiki Healing Principles:The student needs to set up the back pain comes from what has been used effectively by many Reiki practitioners attempt to create a beneficial effect and balance.Just as Reiki can accelerate the treatment. He or she gazes at their four-legged companion bouncing back from living the BIG DEAL.This symbol signifies intelligence and wisdom.

Scrum and Kanban are the two most popular project management techniques today in business. As a developer, I think it's important to understand these processes as you will likely be heavily involved in them if you are part of a team. By understanding, we can stay focused on solving problems and not be too frightened of some of the buzzwords. I'm a developer by trade but my last employed role was in product management. I tried both of these methodologies to improve productivity and efficiency in delivering products and services in the best possible way. They also assist in making organizations quick to adapt to changes in demand for their products/services. What is Scrum? Scrum is a project management methodology designed for cross-functional teams of less than 10 members working on complex projects. Its primary goal is to use the team member's various skills to create a solution/product for the customer/end-user. The word Scrum is derived from the game of rugby where players of both teams interlock and try to gain possession of the ball as a functional unit. Scrum runs on three major pillars, transparency, inspection and adaptation. This methodology is based on the premise that the customer/end-user could change their mind about what they want or there could be changes which a planned approach cannot deal with. The project is usually started with what information is available. Afterwards, changes or tweaks can be made whenever necessary while tracking the developmental process. The project is broken down into distinct actions called sprints that have to be completed within a fixed timeframe or iterations. The average duration for sprints is usually two weeks to a month. Progress is tracked through daily scrums which are 15 minutes fixed stand up meetings. This encourages close interaction and communication between team members rather than the traditional sequential approach. What is Kanban? Kanban is a visual project management framework which was created from lean software development process and used in Agile project management. The word Kanban is a Japanese word meaning Billboard and was derived from the lean manufacturing methods pioneered by the vehicle manufacturer Toyota in Japan. It visualizes the work process and progress through Kanban Boards. It's used for products/solutions that require continuous delivery and aims to balance demand with available capacity (Pull system) rather than push out products to the market (Push system). The aim of using Kanban is to remove bottlenecks during the production process so that the project can flow smoothly and still be kept within budget. It's usually used in combination with other agile methodologies like Scrum. History The Evolution of Scrum The Scrum methodology was first mentioned in a 1986 Harvard Business Review article 'The New New Product Development Game' by Hirotaka Takeuchi and Ikujiro Nonaka. The authors described this process they initially called the holistic or rugby approach as a new developmental process that would increase the speed and flexibility with which commercial products were brought to the market. They saw it as "good at bringing about innovation continuously, incrementally and spirally". 1993 saw the initial use of this methodology by Jeff Sutherland along with John Scumniotales and Jeff Mckenna at Easel Corporation. Two years later Sutherland and Ken Schwaber co-presented a paper describing the Scrum methodology at the Object-Oriented Programming, Systems, Languages and Applications '95 (OOPSLA) conference in Austin, Texas. Schwaber also wrote the first scrum text in 2001 along with Mike Beedle called Agile Software Development with Scrum. That same year saw the two authors along with Sutherland and 14 other experts on Scrum draft the Agile Manifesto in Utah which specified the principles, features and values of this methodology. The Scrum Alliance was created in 2002 by Schwaber to provide a governing body for the Scrum methodology as well as formal certification through the CSM (Certified ScrumMaster) program. Schwaber later left the alliance in 2009 to set up Scrum.org which is in charge of the Professional Scrum Accreditation Series. Since 2010, a document called the Scrum Guide has provided guidelines for the Scrum methodology and has been revised regularly, with the latest version released on November 2017. Evolution of Kanban Kanban started life as a manufacturing methodology promoted on the factory floors of Toyota by Taiichi Ohno, who is known as the father of the Toyota Production System. Ohno was looking for a way to increase productivity and reduce inefficiencies during the car manufacturing process while avoiding making products that couldn't get sold and lost money for the company. In a quest to get a solution, Ohno would stumble on it during a visit to a Tokyo supermarket in 1943. There, he noticed that the products on sale were only restocked when they were almost sold out according to customer demand instead of through regular supplies from the vendor. This ensured that the supermarket had very little excess inventory and ran efficiently. Ohno would bring this technique to Toyota thought it would take 10 years for it to be fully operational. A big part of this process would be the communication system which made use of visual cards called Kanban that illustrated to the workers in each stage of the vehicle manufacturing process what needed to be done, and the materials needed, in clear terms. It also adjusted the number of vehicles manufactured to the demand by the public instead of utilizing the full productive capacity. This process was also known as lean manufacturing or 'Just in Time' production. This helped standardize the production process, removed inefficiencies, and made Toyota nimble and flexible by avoiding the accumulation of excess products that couldn't be sold. This was a problem American auto manufacturers were also having. This turned Toyota into a global auto giant. After its adoption in the automotive industry, the Kanban philosophy spread all over the world and into different industries. Kanban would become popular in service/knowledge industries due to the work of David J. Anderson. He was an admirer of the lean manufacturing process who applied a pull system of development influenced by Ohno's Kanban philosophy while working with a Microsoft XIT Sustaining Engineering group in 2004. The next few years would see Anderson and some other colleagues shape the features and principles of the Kanban methodology. The Kanban methodology spread through management conferences and talks and more companies began to adopt it. Anderson collated his experiences with Kanban in a book published in 2010 'Successful Evolutionary Change for your Technology Business' which is regarded as the most comprehensive definition of the Kanban methodology for Knowledge workers. The Scrum Principles/Values Scrum boards are “Kanban boards” too, confusing eh?The Scrum project management methodology became part of the Agile development approaches which spread in the late 1990s and early 2000s. These were an effort to find a solution to the high failure rate in software development. The Waterfall Development approach used primarily before this point in the software industry was rigid and inflexible – product development had to follow rigidly laid down procedures and documentation. Scrum allowed software developers the flexibility and freedom to respond to changes in development. It also called for the involvement of the customer in the development process rather than being a bystander. This methodology later spread to other industries. Scrum has become the most used of the agile project management methodologies – research indicates that it is in use in 66% of all projects incorporating agile development methods. Scrum is easy to understand and follow as it avoids rigid instructions and procedures. With Scrum, organizations can do whatever is needed to get the project done, adapting to circumstances that might suddenly arise. This flexibility is one reason Eric Naiburg, marketing vice president at scrum.org, calls Scrum the opposite of a to-do list. The breaking down of projects into sprints makes it suited for complex undertakings while the involvement of the customer in the development process enhances transparency. The Agile Manifesto The Agile Manifesto set out to address frustrations among software project developers in 2001 and came out with four principles. Today these principles are the bedrock of the Scrum project management philosophy and have spread beyond the software industry. They state that projects should value: Individuals and interactions over processes and tools. Working products/solutions over comprehensive documentation. Customer collaboration over contract negotiation. Responding to change over following a plan. Scrum Best Practices There are some best practices which underpin the Scrum methodology. We are ensuring Customer Satisfaction through early and continuous product delivery. Testing and incorporating product owner feedback daily. Welcoming and responding to changing requirements even late in the development process. We are working together with the customer on the development process. We are providing the support and environment for motivated individuals to get the work done. Emphasis on face to face communication within and to the team. We are measuring progress through a working solution/product. We are promoting development at a sustainable pace. We are enhancing agility by devotion to technical excellence and good design. Self-organizing teams being the best way to get the best architecture, requirements and designs. Having regular reflections on improving effectiveness through sprint reviews and adjusting actions to suit such. We are respecting the balance between the team members' professional and private lives to keep stress to a minimum. Benefits of Scrum The scrum methodology is the most widely used agile project management methodology for the following reasons. Freedom of initiative — Professionals who love the freedom to take initiatives are in love with the scrum process due to its self-organizing ethos. This tends to boost team morale. High-quality products/services — Products and services that are produced using the scrum process tend to be of a high quality due to the various iterations and improvements they have had to go through as well as customer involvement in the development. Shorter delivery times — This is a result of the incremental development process which shortens the delivery time by 30%-40%. The involvement of the customer in the development is also a factor here. Better return on investment — This is as a result of the shorter delivery times, better product/service quality and fewer defects as a result of continual feedback and the early testing. Flexibility— Teams are able to react quickly to sudden changes in the market and reflect them in the product/service development. Drawbacks of Scrum Like everything else, the Scrum process does have its limitations. Here are some of them. Need for expertise — Scrum requires professionals with expertise and training on the scrum methodology. This requires upfront investment by the organization. Scope creep — The customer could request too many modifications on the product/project, which could turn out to be unnecessary. Expensive — The need for high expertise during the scrum process as well as the constant events makes the scrum process expensive to operate The Scrum Process Scrum Teams The process starts with the formation of a Scrum team to work on a pre-defined solution/project. These teams are usually self-organizing and cross-functional. According to Scrum principles, self-organizing teams are the best way to ensure optimal performance on a project as they can influence how the work will be accomplished rather than follow external directions. Cross-functionality refers to the different competencies among the team members which enable the Scrum team to have all it requires to accomplish the project within and does away with the need for external help. An ideal Scrum team shouldn't have more than 9 members to enhance the team spirit, closeness and effectiveness. It's also important that the team members are in the same physical location or are at least online constantly if they work remotely. Scrum Teams deliver solutions in increments, incorporating the views of the product owner at each product's iteration. This ensures the constant availability of a functional product. There are 5 values or principles which every Scrum team should abide by in order to be effective. Commitment — Working towards the team goals at every sprint. Courage — Being able to do the right thing despite conflicts and challenges. Focus — Concentrating on the team goals and the sprint backlog exclusively. Openness — Being transparent with one another about the job and its challenges. Respect — Respecting each and every team member. Scrum Roles There are three distinct roles in any Scrum team: the product owner, the Scrum Master, and the Development team. Product owner — This person represents the customer in the Scrum team and has the responsibility of ensuring the team delivers the project/solution/product according to the customer' s/end user's specifications. They have to communicate the end user's product requirements as well as the customer's feedback at each product's iteration. They also manage the product backlog which identifies the features of the product to be worked on. Scrum master — This individual ensures that the team follows the Scrum principles and guidelines. They ensure that whatever is needed for the project is made available and take care of any impediments obstructing it. They also facilitate team events and ensure proper communication. Development team — This comprises the rest of the Scrum team. They have to work together to provide a product/project using their various competencies. They organize themselves and choose their own path in getting the product delivered. Scrum Events Communication is vital in the Scrum framework. This is enshrined in the five events or meetings where information about the development process is exchanged regularly. Backlog refinement — The product owner regularly reviews the product backlog which refers to the list of product features, the work to be done, and the sequence of delivery. They make sure that the backlog is properly prepared in a way that communicates to team members what needs to be done at each sprint. Sometimes, the order of work has to be modified due to customer feedback or reviews from the development team. The review of the backlog, which is done in between the conclusion of a sprint and before the start of a new one, prioritizes features based on factors like business value, risk and date the features are needed. This review usually delivers the content for the next sprint. Sprint planning — This is done at the beginning of a sprint to plan what needs to be worked on by the Scrum team. The smaller parts which a project is broken down into are called sprints. They could last from a week to a month. The sprint meeting, which usually lasts an average of four hours for a 2-week sprint, has the team choosing the backlog items that can be completed during the sprint, how it will be worked on, and the goal for the sprint. These are all included in a sprint backlog. Daily scrum/stand up — This is a quick daily stand up meeting that lasts a maximum of 15 minutes. The previous day's work is reviewed and challenges are identified by the team as well as individual members. An individual is tasked with getting solutions to any challenges identified and any uncompleted work from the previous day is highlighted by the Scrum master on the scrum board. Detailed discussions aren't allowed during scrum meetings. The strategy to be used for the day's work is also agreed upon. Sprint review — This meeting which is held at the end of the sprint is used to review the performance of the team. If the work for the day is completed, the product's iteration is demonstrated and then presented to the customer/end-user along with the sprint backlog containing the 'done' items for their feedback. The product owner can also make adjustments to the product backlog at this point. The recommended duration for the meeting is usually a maximum of four hours. Sprint retrospective — This is an opportunity for the Scrum team to reflect on how effective they were and what could be improved upon for better productivity the next time. Scrum Artifacts This refers to the commonly used tools in the scrum process. These are three of them used to record the progress of the Scrum team as well as details of the project. Product backlog — Is a list of work that has to be done on the project by the scrum team. It contains the product requirements, features to be worked on and bugs that have to be fixed. It's overseen by the product owner and serves as a guide to the team. It's usually reviewed before it makes it into the Sprint backlog. Sprint backlog — This list which is overseen by the development team refers to the list of product features from the product backlog that has to be worked on during the present sprint. Team members sign up to handle tasks they can handle based on their competencies in the spirit of self-organization and commitment. Sprint backlogs can be modified during a sprint but the end goal remains constant. Product increments — This is the end result of the work completed during a sprint. It's usually added to the completed work from previous sprints. This is usually according to what the Scrum Team defines and agrees as 'Done' status. Most times, this means the product is functional at an optimal level and ready to be delivered to the customer/end-user. The Kanban Principles and Practices The Kanban Principles There are four core principles which form the bedrock of a successful implementation of the Kanban methodology. Start with the present system — Kanban methodology stresses the need to avoid a culture shock by introducing a new system overnight. Instead, it can be brought into an organization and applied alongside the existing techniques. This makes Kanban easy to implement and non-disruptive. Changes can then be implemented at a speed that everyone is okay with within a long gestation period while information about the current workflow and its inefficiencies are collected and analyzed. Make changes incrementally — The Kanban methodology emphasizes gradual and small changes to the status quo. This will enable more buy-in from the organizational members that will be affected by the process, reduce uncertainty and unease, and in turn enable the organization to be turned around for the better as the evidence from previous incremental changes is apparent. Respect the current workflow processes and roles — The existing work process, functions, and those in charge of them are not done away with immediately when the Kanban methodology is implemented. The team will decide what roles should be modified, what changes should be introduced, and the right time they should be done. This is to ease the organizational transition among the members and make the incremental changes acceptable among them. Encourage leadership at every level — Kanban recognizes that leadership qualities can emerge from anybody no matter the level they are in an organization. This is why team members are encouraged to act when there is a need for changes or to kick off initiatives instead of waiting for superior or senior management to order them. This principle fosters trust and continuous self-improvement (Kaizen) among the team members, helping them to reach their optimal performance levels which will boost organizational productivity in the long run. Kanban Practices In order for Kanban implementation to be effective, there are six Kanban practices which teams have to put into action. Visualize the workflow process — This is the first step when using the Kanban methodology. The process used to deliver the products/services by the organization as well as its flow has to be illustrated on a Kanban board which could be physical or electronic. Each step in the workflow is represented by a column on the board. The different work items are denoted by Kanban cards of different colours. A collection of related work items can be bunched together using Kanban swim lanes. The main aim of these is for all parties to understand the functioning of the workflow process from the customer request to the final product/service delivery as well as improve communication and collaboration. With this, different areas of the work process can be tracked and analyzed to identify possible impediments which can be worked on. Limit the work in progress (WIP) — With Kanban, a manageable number of work items should be worked on at a time with a limit placed on the work in progress that can be handled. Work at hand should be completed before moving on to 'pull' in a new task. Kanban discourages multitasking as it leads to wastage and inefficiencies. WIP limits in the column boards stress the importance of choosing the work the team has to do at the moment carefully as there is a limited capacity which has to be used efficiently. Focus on the WIP also helps to reduce the cycle times (The duration from the customer request to the final delivery) for a particular product/service. Manage the workflow — With the Kanban methodology, the various workflow stages and work progress in each of them are highlighted on the Kanban board. Kanban emphasizes the management of the workflow process instead of the micromanagement of people with the main aim of its implementation being the smooth work process flow at optimal levels. This enables the team to analyze the workflow process by measuring productivity/efficiency with metrics like cycle time and lead times. This makes it easier to spot any obstructions in the workflow process. Most times, these obstructions are in the intermediate wait stages where the work has to change hands, but sometimes other factors like worker efficiency have a role to play. Wherever they are present, adjustments are made in the work process to remove them and make the workflow better. This will enable the cycle times for the product or service to be reduced, ensuring faster turn around and the delivery of better value to the customers. Communicate the process policies clearly — A big part of Kanban is the communication of policies and process rules on how work is conducted explicitly to all parties concerned so that there is a clear understanding of what is expected of each person. This help provides a standard against which performance can be measured and ensures quality consistency in the product/service delivered. There have to be work process rules and guidelines for each column like who pulls what, entry and exit criteria for the column, when a task is done etc. which has to be visualized on the Kanban board. This keeps everyone with a visual reference in the organization as they work towards a common goal. Get feedback regularly and implement it — Feedback is very important to the Kanban methodology. The review and analysis of the workflow stages on the Kanban board during daily stand up meetings are a good opportunity for this. Each of the different aspects of the workflow like delivery and operations should also be reviewed individually to track their progress. Team members should also comment on their individual observations during the previous day. These daily meetings should be short and be straight to the point. Plans should be set in motion to work on all the feedback received. Getting all this feedback early in the process enables improvements to be made fast so as to improve cycle times and organizational productivity. Always experiment and improve — The evolutionary change pattern of Kanban enables the use of the scientific investigation method which involves forming a theory, testing it and modifying it to be better. The workflow process should be evaluated and improved upon continuously. New techniques can be introduced incrementally into the workflow process and observed, and then a decision should be made to keep or remove them depending on how much improvement they bring to the process through evaluating the metrics measurement. Sometimes, these techniques just need some modification in order to perform optimally. Continuous improvement is the cornerstone of the Kanban methodology. The Kanban Process Kanban is a methodology that seeks to improve an organization's efficiency by applying visualization to the work process. It's based on the proven notion that the brain processes pictures more easily than words. With the visualization, areas of inefficiencies become apparent. Kanban aims to improve the workflow process gradually and incrementally rather than quickly. This reduces the risk to the organization. It also aims to make the work process flow faster. The Kanban Board The Kanban board is the main tool for the visual representation of the workflow process. It enables clearer communication among all parties involved with the way information about the project/development process is highlighted through pictures. Kanban boards can be in physical forms or in a digital/electronic form which is used for teams with remote members. The Kanban board usually comprises of three main columns: To do — Tasks that haven't been started are listed here. Doing — Tasks that are being worked on are listed here. Done — This consists of tasks that have been completed. Tasks are represented by coloured sticky notes or cards. By representing the workflow process with pictures on the Kanban board, the efficiency of the workflow process can be measured especially with the aid of specialized Kanban software. Where efficiency is lower than expected, impediments can be traced and then dealt with. This enables higher production efficiency and shorter product cycle times as well as improvements in the product/service quality. Benefits of Kanban Kanban is quickly being adopted by organizations in different industries globally. Some of the reasons for this include the following. Clear communication and transparency - The workflow visualization on the Kanban boards enables clear communication and lets everybody involved know what is expected of them. It's easy to track work progress which makes it easy to know what action is needed. Spot impediments quickly — The overcrowding of some of the columns can easily highlight where the work process is being slowed down, thereby necessitating adjustments. Flexibility — The ability to use Kanban in any system or industry and its philosophy of incremental change makes it a darling among many organizations desirous of continuous efficiency improvements. It is usually combined with agile project management techniques to make them more effective. Responsive to demand — Kanban enables capacity to be adjusted to match customer demands avoiding unnecessary wastage as well as the ability to respond to changes quickly. Focus and collaboration — Limited work in progress forces teams to focus on WIP instead of multi-tasking thereby enhancing productivity. Collaboration is also enhanced as organizational members help each other to remove challenges in discharging their tasks. Drawbacks of Kanban The Kanban methodology has its limitations – Ill suited for large projects — Kanban can be challenging to operate in a large scale situation. Misuse of Kanban board — The misuse or over-complication of the Kanban board can send the wrong signals about the workflow process which might result in costly mistakes. Wild demand fluctuations — Irregular product demands could disrupt the Kanban methodology as wrong signals could be sent as a result. Quality miscues— Kanban methodology drives down inventory levels to almost zero in a bid to reduce wastage. But when there's a quality issue with the final product or service, it could be difficult for the organization to react quickly as a result of the absence of an inventory buffer. Similarities and Differences Between Scrum and Kanban Scrum and Kanban are the most adopted productivity improvement tools globally but they are not really direct alternatives to each other like most people believe. They have some similarities but there are also differences between both of them. Similarities Both Scrum and Kanban are tools to improve productivity and efficiency as well as minimize wastage. They are both based on the agile project management technique which emphasizes flexibility and ability to adapt to changes. They also work on the 'pull' scheduling technique. They both see improvements in product or service quality and delivery times are the cornerstone of both techniques. They are both based on the self-organization ethos with team members taking their own initiatives and actions with every member being equal to each other and no orders coming externally. Complex tasks are usually broken down into smaller, manageable parts. Scrumban In many organizations today, Scrum and Kanban are being used and combined in what is known as Scrumban. This was originally created for teams transitioning from Scrum to Kanban but has become a project management methodology in its own right. Under this methodology, the Scrum process is used but it's viewed through the lens of the Kanban improvement system. A board similar to a Kanban board with coloured cards is used. Work is broken down into iterations. WIP limits are used here while team members choose the tasks they will work on since they are self-organizing. On-demand planning is a feature of Scrumban. This is the application of planning techniques when new tasks are available rather than on a daily basis. Prioritization of tasks is done so that team members know what tasks are important. Differences There are many differences between Scrum and Kanban. This includes: Definition — Scrum is a framework with specific rules and techniques while Kanban is a workflow visualization tool used alongside an existing system. Training and management — Scrum requires a lot of education and training, as well as management and professionals with expertise. Kanban, on the other hand, can be easily understood by everybody which makes it cheaper to run and manage. Change process — Kanban encourages incremental change and is suited for organizations with good, stable workflow structures while organizations that need wholesome change quickly should go for Scrum. Usage — Kanban is usually used for smaller projects while Scrum is more beneficial for larger, more complex projects. Roles — Scrum has three defined roles of scrum master, product owner and development teams. Kanban has no defined roles as every team member can take up available duties. Duration — The Scrum process lasts for the duration of the project/development and is started again with a new undertaking while Kanban is a continuous effort as it is done with products/services that have to be continually delivered. Teams — Scrum advocates cross-functional teams while specialized teams are the norm in Kanban. New tasks/Iterations — In Scrum, new items cannot be added outside the preplanned tasks for the sprint even when the team has the capacity for such additions. In Kanban, new tasks can be worked on as long as the capacity is available. Ownership — The sprint backlog in the Scrum process is owned by one Scrum team while the Kanban board can be shared by as many teams possible. Productivity measurement — Kanban measures productivity using a product's/services' cycle time while Scrum measures this using velocity through the sprints. Team goals — In Scrum, teams focus on collaborating and completing a pre-defined task while Kanban teams are focused on setting goals and reducing the cycle times. Conclusion This article doesn't aim to prove which is better between Scrum and Kanban as they are both productivity tools aimed at boosting efficiency. Rather it is aimed at providing an understanding of both tools so that you can make a good decision if choosing between them – or you can decide to go with both. I personally prefer Kanban. But I think that's because a mentor of mine gave me a copy of 'Kanban: Successful Evolutionary Change for your Technology Business' which really helped me when I started needing to make my teams productive. It's definitely a book that should be in every office.

Neurolinguistic Programming
Neurolinguistic Programming is a communication model that focuses on identifying and using thought models that influence a person's behavior as a way to improve the quality and effectiveness of life.
A problem with NLP is the nature of its name, since when the term Neurolinguistic Programming is mentioned to people who have never heard of it, the reaction is usually a bit negative. On the other hand, the name could provoke that we are dealing with empirical techniques derived from the neurosciences, but there is no evidence to confirm the efficacy of these.
Stephen Briers (2012), says that NLP is not really a coherent treatment, but "a hodgepodge of different techniques without a clear theoretical basis".
This discipline was called Neurolinguistic Programming for the following reasons:
Programming: for mathematics and cybernetics, because we are programmed by our memories and learning, by our experiences and beliefs. We have mental programs and behavior patterns.
Neuro: for neurology, because we can deactivate these programs executed by neural networks and activate other more positive programs.
Linguistics: for the importance of the use of language and its linguistic metamodels (system of questions that allow to reach a deeper knowledge of the person and their patterns).
Tumblr media
What is the focus of the Neurolinguistic Programming model?
The world is experienced through five senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. A lot of information comes to us continuously; consciously and unconsciously we eliminate what we do not want to pay attention to. They tell us that the remaining information is based on our past experiences, values and beliefs.
What is NLP based on?
The most important thing to have a vision about what is Neurolinguistic Programming is to know that it is based on four fundamental aspects, which are known as the "four pillars".
1. Results
To achieve something, we talk about objectives, in NLP the results term is used. If there is a prior concentration on what you want to achieve, there will be a guide that will guide all the available resources of that person to the achievement of a goal.
2. Sensory acuity
Sensory acuity refers to the ability to observe or detect small details to be aware of what is happening around us. People vary a lot when it comes to realizing what they see, hear or feel. There are people who are dedicated to observe more their environment, while others are more focused on their own emotions and thoughts.
3. Flexibility in behavior
When you begin to know what your results are and use your sensory acuity to observe what is happening, the information you get allows you to make adjustments in your behavior, if necessary. If the acts you perform do not take you by the direction you want, it is evident that you should try to take another path or try something different, but many people lack that flexibility in behavior and simply insist on doing the same thing over and over again.
4. Competence
The rapport could be considered as that component that unites people. Most of the time it occurs naturally, automatically, instinctively. Some people we know seem to share our vital perspective, while there are other people we do not connect with. The capacity for rapport with other people needs to be improved in order to obtain more effective relationships.
Tumblr media
The linguistic metamodel of NLP
Bandler and Grinder wrote the first NLP book in 1975, "The Structure of Magic," in which they developed their theory of the aforementioned Metamodel of Language (a series of basic syntactic patterns that identify expressions of verbal communication that can limit our reality ).
This metamodel is also called a precision model, which will allow us, through language, to deepen the knowledge of the person and their mental map, consisting of 12 patterns that are divided into 3 categories:
Omissions, distortions and generalizations of information.
Omissions
We are selective and pay attention to part of the information and discard another part that we believe is not important.
Distortions
We understand information according to our own map and often change it and misunderstand it.
Generalizations
We draw general conclusions based on previous experiences to understand reality. They are the basis of the basic learning processes.
Tumblr media
Uses of NLP
With NLP we can make profound and lasting changes.
Today NLP is used in many personal development techniques such as Coaching, and in many areas of day to day as in Human Resources processes, sales, conflict resolution, education, etc.
Tumblr media
MOST USED METHODS:
In principle, NLP does not work if it is not applied.
Knowing how to communicate is not a matter of saying things, but the other interlocutor can understand it, that has as much attention, as the disposition and the tuning.
Rapport ---> term used in this technique, which is about how to encourage the ability to retain a person's attention and at the same time create a sense of confidence. Example: when you talk to the children and they are playing, even if we call them, they will not listen to us because we have not entered their level of interest or we are inside their game.
Availability: try to be attentive to the other interlocutor, observing without judging. Become aware of the movements of the other, presented the most attention in what he says and does.
Systems and representational methods. The sensory language. Eye movements, etc.
NLP can be used with its various methods in different aspects, such as:
THERAPY: Anxiety, Stress, Phobias, Relationships of Couple, Lack of confidence / self-esteem, problems of parent-child relationships, addictions, anomalous behaviors, complexes, sexuality, future approaches, etc.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT: Achievement of personal goals, improvement of self-esteem, establishment of success strategies, etc.
EDUCATION: Teaching and communication techniques to increase skills and performance in learning, techniques to "learn to learn", etc.
WORK / BUSINESS: Motivation, stress control, use of resources, creativity, development and achievement of objectives, leadership, competence, negotiation, etc.
ORGANIZATIONAL APPLICATIONS: Programs, unblocking of negotiations, convincing communication systems, persuasion, conflicts, interview preparation, etc.
The results of the training in NLP are positive for both the points indicated above, in the same way the fact that people can recognize the communication styles of others and their own is very useful to achieve good interactions in everyday life. It is a technique that It can be used in any field and in all circumstances.
Tumblr media
NLP AND EDUCATION:
We start from the base that education is to communicate.
Neurolinguistic Programming extends our abilities to know the importance of verbal and non-verbal language.
Strengthen our capacities to achieve a more propitious communication climate. Raising awareness of the processes by which we receive information, store it and transmit it through our senses.
The behavior is generated by the internal responses to what I see, what I hear ... One communicates through words, quality of voice, with the body: postures and gestures. Even when one stands still, he is giving a message.
If we can be good communicators our students will perceive us intensely present in what they are sharing. The Other, the Contents and I, will be part of a very valuable and significant event.
Share the knowledge with the students and that they achieve the application of it.
Transmitting skills, practical experience is essential to develop skills, from physical to interpersonal.
The more we can discover about the way people learn, the better we can design the process to encourage learning.
All learning implies a change in the knowledge, skills or experiences of the students, and perhaps the fundamental mission of the teacher is to demonstrate that changes are possible.
Currently, there is a tendency to move away from courses focused on the Teacher, to be oriented in those focused on the student, because they are more effective.
The teacher creates a context in which children can learn. The students must want to learn. They must feel that learning is meaningful and valuable.
Teachers will create a rich context for learning.
It is important to give our students the tools to learn to learn.
In this, NLP can help us. How do our students think? How do your values, beliefs, affect your emotional states?
NLP relates our words, thoughts and behaviors to our objectives.
NLP contemplates the different parts of our personality. Imports behavior, actions, physiology and take into account that behind all behavior are values and beliefs.
The P N L provides us with tools to change behaviors and abilities, beliefs and values.

Aliko Dangote Foundation and GBCHealth Join Forces to Build African Business Coalition for Health
Aliko Dangote today announced that the Aliko Dangote Foundation and GBCHealth have joined forces to forge a new model of partnership in Africa. Aliko Dangote, the foremost African industrialist and philanthropist, known for his commitments to health and development, shared plans to build an African Business Coalition for Health (ABCHealth), during the Bloomberg Global Business Forum, he was co-hosting, and which took place alongside the United Nations General Assembly this week in New York.  The Forum focused on global leadership, new and innovative partnerships between government and business, and sustained, targeted investment in critical sectors and economies throughout the world in support of social and economic progress.
Building on the leadership, reputation and convening power of the Aliko Dangote Foundation and the experience, reputation and global reach of GBCHealth, the African-led coalition of companies and philanthropists, will seek to improve the health and wellbeing of Africans, both within the workplace and within the broader communities. The partnership will develop and scale impactful health programs across Africa, deepening knowledge, building evidence for future investment and strengthening coordination among African philanthropists, business leaders, companies and local business networks.
Critical issues will range from nutrition to malaria, with priorities identified and agreed by local leadership.
Through his Foundation, Aliko Dangote has made an unprecedented grant and seed contribution to GBCHealth of US$ 1.5 million over three years as a call to action and a signal to the African business community of the importance of working together and investing in health.
“The time is ripe for the private sector to proactively demonstrate its value in partnering to lead a new era in development,” said Aliko Dangote. “The coalition can provide much needed guidance to ensure activities and investments are driving results in areas where the private sector can have real impact, focusing on holistic and integrated solutions that cross borders.  We look forward to working with other business leaders as partners in development to drive this impact.”
“This coalition brings together two heavyweights in the health and development arena,” said Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Co-chair of GBCHealth’s Board of Directors. “Together we have an opportunity to demonstrate how investing in health and creating healthier populations, can help business maximize shareholder value, accelerate economic growth and make entry into new markets more feasible.”
The coalition will have five primary objectives over its first three years:
Incubate partnerships on priority health programs to enhance and accelerate results;
Work directly with companies to optimize workplace and community health programs;
Advocate for policies and initiatives that drive system-level changes;
Create a hub of data and insights specific to Africa and African business; and
Curate leadership events to convene and drive action around common health issues, across sectors.
The program will kick off in Nigeria and roll out through business regions in Africa and beyond over the next three years.
Why now?
The continent currently has 400 companies with revenue of more than $1 billion per year, and these companies are growing faster, and are more profitable in general, than their global peers[1]. Coupled with these fast-moving regional leaders, small and growing businesses create 80% of the continent’s employment and are stoking the engines of growth[2].
Against this backdrop, according to Aliko Dangote, there’s a new cadre of responsible business leaders and philanthropists who understand the value and promise of sustainable large-scale investments in African countries, and are poised to make an even bigger impact on the continent’s people and economies.
Investments in better training, healthcare and supply chain accountability have demonstrated direct financial return through gains in productivity and efficiency, while support for social programs has accelerated economic growth and has raised incomes, which in turn unlocks a wider consumer base.
“GBCHealth has a strong track record of bringing diverse groups together to improve the health and wellbeing of communities,” said Zouera Youssoufou, CEO of the Dangote Foundation. “We look forward to collaborating to build an African business community united as a force for healthier and more inclusive development.”
What next?
“What is needed now is an approach that combines the value of local insights and trusted networks with the leverage of a global platform and expertise to support the more coordinated and impactful involvement of the African private sector across the continent and within the global development community,’ commented Mr. Aig-Imoukhuede.
“The coalition builds on the local-to-global business approach we have developed in Nigeria through our work with the Corporate Alliance on Malaria in Africa (CAMA). The Aliko Dangote Foundation has demonstrated expertise in implementing result-oriented health programs in Nigeria and across Africa. We look forward to our collaboration to bring insights from this work to a global audience,” said Nancy Wildfeir-Field, President of GBCHealth.
Immediate plans include hiring an African based CEO for ABCHealth, and building a support base for the coalition working towards a launch in early 2018.  The foundation is generously providing office space and support for coalition staff over the first three years of development.
“It’s an ambitious and bold project,” said Mr. Dangote, “but the only way to move Africa forward is to take bold moves, to think big, dream big and do big things together – breaking down silos, working across borders and working across sectors – with government and with each other.”

Additional Context
Importance of Health to the Workplace
Investing in key health areas enables businesses, regardless of industry, to improve their bottom line.   A recent study suggests that presenteeism (working while sick), absenteeism and early retirement due to illness conspired to reduce South Africa’s GDP by 6.8% in 2015[3], and this number is on track to get worse, increasing to 7.0% by 2030.
Estimates suggest that if the West Africa Ebola outbreak had not been contained by 2015, it would have cost affected-countries a total of $30 billion in lost GDP. As it was, core affected-countries lost approximately $1.6 billion[4]. Beyond epidemics, investments in resilient health systems, preventive treatment and insurance can drastically reduce downstream costs of treating employees or losses from absenteeism.
According to Ms. Wildfeir-Field, President of GBCHealth; “the workplace is the single most prominent communications channel to influence employee behaviour. And further, workplace health programs play a significant role in reducing the risk of epidemics, providing the first line of surveillance for emerging threats. We saw this years ago during the height of the HIV/Aids crisis and more recently with the Ebola outbreak.”
