mahae tried their absolute hardest to work around their schedules to go see taeyong off and it was all for nothing because their flight from shanghai got redirected and delayed and now they're stuck in jeju airport..................... the way this shouldn't have even been a thing that *could* happen at all, if only SM had just handled their schedules better to begin with. like sorry but some people are brainrotted because they're turning this into unitzen fanwars when this is about SM once again proving that they are a shitty company. a fansign (something that can happen whenever) vs. seeing off your friend for enlistment (something that happens ONE time) like come on..... they knew in advance when he was enlisting too, they could've planned around it. but no, instead, we didn't have an ot9 send off and mahae had to go live on instagram from an airport like "guys we did all that we could" like yes we know, you angels, it's not your fault it's SM's...

So I'm seeing a lot of a certain fandom (when will they mind their own, my lord) celebrating that they're "free from NCT for a decade" because of the start of the enlistment era and it just makes me outright cackle because that's just... not true. My favourite thing is when people forget or just don't know the sheer amount of members and units in NCT. Like sorry but these fuckers will continue to be everywhere and we'll be seeing them for a long time unless SM finally implodes.

SM quite literally has the chance to carry out the most seamless enlistment period of a group like... ever? (if they actually do is another story given that it's, well, SM but I digress). The NCT system has many, many shitty downsides but this just isn't one of them. Out of the current 26 members of NCT, only 11 have to enlist. I won't get into the nitty gritty breakdown of the overlapping enlistment years but essentially no substantial amount of members will have to go all at once in the near future (Dream's 00 line is going to be rough but that's close to 2030 so not anytime soon, and by then 127 will be back almost entirely). The fact that the age gap between 127's hyung line and Dream's hyung line is so big is a huge advantage and WayV doesn't even have to go at all.* NCT Wish are also young so it's not even of use to think of their enlistment just yet. Factoring in all the NCT U combinations SM can make as well as solo career launches, it's safe to say that you guys will not "be free" from seeing NCT around. A blessing for fans but an eyesore for haters, I guess.

Of course, with all this said, it doesn't make it any less sad to see them go, but I just needed to get this off my chest because it makes me laugh when other fandoms are in our business but they're not even in our business properly because they have no idea what they're talking about.

i haven't been active much but i've come here to yap because these haechan bubble messages make my head hurt...

putting aside what I think about sending trucks to companies (spoiler: i deem them redundant and embarassing) there's no way that haechan understood them to mean leaving the team behind? literally all his peers (note: his own teammates) have solo schedules and they're obviously still part of the team. am I going crazy? what's being misunderstood and by who?

an idol of his popularity having less than 5 solo schedules (of any kind) in 8 years is crazy, no? it's one thing if he didn't want to do them but over the years he's expressed desire to do stuff like e.g. go on lee mujin and do solo song covers (to which he said "SM can't clear the copyright for me" whatever that fucking excuse means) but now it's oh no solo schedules because "i still like the team"? it just doesn't make sense to me really. solo schedules wouldn't seem like such a big deal now so late into his career if SM just gave him the opportunity to do the things he wanted to do WHEN he wanted to do them like his peers but alas.

the conclusion as always is: SM Entertainment you will burn to the ground and one of the reasons i'm alive is out of spite to see your downfall for fumbling talent for years and years. p.s. well done Taemin for escaping.

i know we're only 3 soloists deep right now but it's just so fun with the variety they've given us already? i want to be silly and fun in the title tracks and melancholic in the b-sides? taeyong. i want a villainous title with pussy popping b-sides? ten. i want to feel like "hm, maybe life is worth living after all?" doyoung's whole album.

i'm just so excited what the future brings for the nct brand in terms of its soloists. i really hope everyone gets to do everything they want for their solos or at least as close as possible to their vision as they can get, given that they're not independent artists. jaehyun is up next on the solo rollout and i just know he's going to serve us the most beautiful, real yearner, r&b we've ever seen. i'm so ready.

I finally had time to sit down and listen to Doyoung's album. Wow. What a beautiful display of his talent. The songs feel so refreshing and just beautiful. The band instrumentals definitely elevate the listening experience and the album is so cohesive. Some of the instrumentation was very reminiscent of some J-Rock I've heard before (the more pop side) in a good way! I'm so impressed overall. Loved it.

First listen favourites:

From Little Wave - it got such a visceral reaction out of me which I didn't expect? Legit made me tear up, his voice is so special and the way the instrumentals support him is just stunning. Goosebumps. Very beautiful.

Time Machine - the harmonies and adlibs! It just feels so warm and lovely. Thank you Doyoung for giving Mark a chance to sing. Oh and Taeyeon is spectacular, but no one thought otherwise.

Lost in California - not what I expected based on the highlight medley but it ended up being one of my favourites. It sounds nostalgic and in an odd way it reminds me a little bit of AB/AP era FOB?

Serenade - so cute and pretty!

Can't wait to give this album more spins.
