I WOULD LOVE TO GET INTO MGS WHERE SHOULD I START?? I have googled it before but I couldn't really find anything useful??? If you please....lend me ur knowledge

YEAH SURE!!!!! this got super long cuz … special interest so i just started rambling but i tried structuring it so it’s comprehensible! but if u want me to shorten it… i onderstand… they are hard to explain so! i really recommend playing the games or watch them to get into it cuz it’s really.. convoluted! i just got really really attached to solid snake... so... yeah! 

 i got into it basically by just playing the first game(for gc and ps 1) but if you can’t play the games you can always watch playthrus. or not! cuz! the main drive force of the games are the characters, and most of them are explored through codec(kind of a spy earpiece) conversations, so i can link some i think are fun to explore just the basis of the characters if you want. i learned most of the game through these. 

the main games are split into two categories: games about solid snake(dave), and games about the person he was cloned from/his dad Big boss: 

big boss’s games are about how he went from a nice kid to a war criminal and also two guys and a girl are competing for his love, and also how he misunderstood the last words of his pseudo mother to mean “war is good”.

solid snake’s games are about redefining himself, building a life for himself, learning that he’s his own person even if he’s a clone, and learning to love other people and building a family from nothing, as well as learning that peace is the right path.

the solid snake games are:

MGS 1: you play as solid snake and befriend otacon and meryl to save the world from nuclear war and fight your evil cloned twin brother liquid. you learn solid snake is a government experiment and a clone of Big Boss. 

MGS 2: you play as solid snake for a bit, but then as raiden, a newcomer and snake’s apprentice. you work your way through an oil rig to save the world from nuclear war again. about learning what it means to live, and what it means to choose love and life instead of hate and war.

MGS 4 : 10 years later with solid snake, who now lives together with and has adopted a daughter with otacon. he’s dying though, since he suffers from clone aging(when clones age and die much faster) and this is his final adventure with his friends and family. old snake also has the horniest design ever, just btw, with his nipples poking thru his skin tight outfit at all times 10/10 very uncomfortably tight for an 80-year old.

and the Big Boss games are:

MGS 3 SNAKE EATER: a prequel, where you play as Big Boss. many people’s favourite game, and a stand-alone to all other games really. you’re in the cold war and you have to choose between your nation and your love for your mentor/mother and also some russian dude is in love with you. survival through the jungle and listening to his weird horny grunts as he eats raw snakes.

MGS 3 PEACE WALKER: a sequel to the last one, but still a prequel. basically a looot of small missions BUT you befriend the best character ever, your mentor’s lesbian gf whose character arc and romance is basically the basis for the game. another phenomenal character is a girl who’s a double spy and infiltrates your camp but grows to love you.

MGSV: last game. last prequel. kind of about Big Boss’s road to becoming evil but who knows because the plot is a mess and it’s unfinished(yeah, they released the game without a finished story so it just. ends)

as i said earlier though, the real heart of the games are the characters and the charm. although they are war games, essentially, the characters are so charming thanks to the level of development they’re given. the games also don’t take themselves seriously at ALL… here’s some codec pieces just to get to know the basic characters, so you know if they’re for you or not.

god ill stop now sorry this got so fucknig long i cant stop rambling but. . you see it’s very hard to explain cuz it’s a lot but i’d personally, if you’re really interested, get mgs1- ps or gamecube/wii. if u dont have any of those watching a playthru/ just cutscene version is like 4 hours so not too long. OR go with snake eater for 3ds/ps to see if you like it... anyway hope this helped like, a tiny bit at least???
