tpot 17 spoilers here's what i thought of it lalalala

overall very good episode!! not the *best* ever episode but not every episode can be. it was very silly and fun and also what the fuck is happening

this eliminations played out how i most expected it to, i like pillow and yellow face is alright i guess but it was definitely their times to go. love how pencil freaked out for a hot second over having the most votes (again) i knew they would do that they are so evil for it. I LOVED BOTTLE'S LITTLE DOODLES of course she draws 2018 cute boots and mouth good for her

speaking of bottle was such a fun host! the "everything she does takes literal days" thing was a bit overused but i'm glad they stopped doing that once the challenge started. nice little subtle bit of character-building for four given how he was seemingly happy with bottle taking over. bro cares more about cooking than hosting now i can respect the growth and progression

the challenge itself was a very neat idea, splitting up the teams like this is a very good way to get new groups of characters to interact who wouldn't have otherwise. i thought for a second when bottle shuffled everyone around that we were getting ANOTHER team swap and nearly screamed lmao. but yeah super funny how the eating contest objects where all chill with each other (for the most part) but everyone else was at each other's throats the whole time lmao

pencil. oughhhhh pencil. i am ill. i dont really think pen was the best choice to talk to her at the end but to be fair the options were pretty limited given that everyone else was either MIA or book. the bookcil scene was awesome yes girlie get ANGRY unleash your RAGE. i think it would have been a bit more impactful if they didn't have fanny going basically "erm, awkward!" right in the middle of it but yeah good food i am fed

oh my god what has happened to one's room. has gaty torn through there like a feral animal or something or was this all the product of one's own frustration. given how she fucking mutilates donut i wouldn't discount the latter possibility. also six is plot relevant what, and purple face is gonna lead them to the EXIT and then (theory time) one's gonna use that group to get three out of the fourtress for. something. idk yet but things are happening

individual challenges lightning round go! circus circumstances is amazing i love slasher tacks, love evil tv arc they should have him Kill more. ferris wheel was kinda whatever but i love how they're bringing back snowball's old relationships with certain characters, particularly gb and pen. THE FOURSE IS BACK I LOVE YOU FOURSE not much else to say i didn't already cover in the previous section. eating contest was fun they leaked price tag's search history (and loser got cancelled lmao). winner felt appreciated i need to kiss them what who said that

wow i had a lot to say about this one huh, forty minute episodes will do that to ya. elimination predictions: grassy is almost certainly out, the team 2 votes (aside from icy's) were really close last time so it really depends on where the icy voters' votes will go now, and just by fandom reaction i can tell you it will not be grassy. for 🎼 i'm less sure but i can certainly say bottle and pen are safe, they were all over this episode they got so much to do. i think it might be liy or tb as much as i hate to say it, they kinda got sidelined in their challenges

DAILY BRAINROT

I clearly need more accountability than I currently have because I've been running around writing whatever the heck I want instead of making progress on the priority list.

Obviously, I still have an awful lot of details to hash out and, you know, the whole rest of the story to build, but I did write out a few parts last night to get a feel of the vibes, so here's a little piece of that.

I can guarantee you it's even worse in context, because I almost made myself cry working on it. :)

Mask burst into tears and Warriors automatically pulled him into his arms, disregarding the blood and dirt. Mask never cried. Warriors had only seen him tear up once before, and that had been when Tune had taken a bad hit to the neck and nearly died on the battlefield. Warriors wrapped his arms around Mask tightly, gently rocking back and forth in what he hoped was a soothing manner. Twilight was better at this, but Twilight wasn’t an option right now. He could feel how thin the poor kid was underneath his loose clothes. He was notably lighter than he had been the last time Warriors had seen him, even though he was clearly taller. If anyone was feeding him, then they weren’t feeding him enough.

i have an assignment due in two days (havent started it yet) but im too busy thinking about character progression through body types. i knowwww its been said and done before but ough. i just cant get over 'character whos skinny during The Horrors heals and puts on weight and its celebrated.' like i need me more of that shit i beg. becoming more than just a 'healthy' weight, because theyre safe and they dont have to be in the peak of health anymore. they dont have to be worried about being 'unfit' or stretching their supplies just in case. oughhhhh im not okay about it

In other related news, I did my first completion run in Everspace!!! (The original one)

WOW what a cool game. I honestly am not a rogue-like person, but rogue-lites are a lot more tolerable. ESPECIALLY WHEN THE RUNS ARE ALL SPACE COMBAT??? The graphics are gorgeous for 2017 but also not too intensive! It’s very well made where you have multiple things you’re trying to accomplish at any one time by running each run. Even if you don’t make it to the end, you can still unlock upgrades to help you with your future runs!

I typically am not a fan of games that don’t let you customize your loadouts entirely, and I do admit I first stuck my nose up at the realization that this game only has 3 pre-made loadouts for each of the 3 ships, but honestly I changed my mind! Those items are just the ones you START runs with, but you can find and make replacements with the resources you collect my mining things or blowing things up!

Speaking of the 3 ships (a 4th with the dlc), the balancing I feel like is really distinctive and well done. You start with a medium ship that has medium overshield and medium health bar, but if you can make $10,000 credits (which disappear every new run, so you’re intended to always spend them before starting again), you can unlock a heavy class ship that has no overshield but better armor and a rear gunner turret, or a light class ship that has puny shields and health but can teleport and cloak! Each of the three also has unique equipment that can be found during your runs, like different turrets for the heavy class or different shields for the medium and light!

I honestly don’t care a lot about the story, I’ve been imagining little kobold me piloting the ships this entire time (which have amazing looking cockpits and VR support (no motion controls ��)) so every time I see the white male human protagonist I don’t pay nearly enough attention as I need to to understand what is going on

On the lore side, this game has unique factions and weapon foundries that all have their own lore pages, and there’s these ancient alien ruins guarded by aggressive black holes, and the human colonialists totally suck because they ofc started a fight with the aliens that already were there, and it’s all very fleshed out!

The game is pretty challenging too!!! I actually just play on easy mode, which you can change at the start of each run if you want to! Easy mode means you get 25% less credits but the game goes in your favor more often. I was just getting frustrated in the higher difficulties where I would need fuel to progress or nanobots to repair things but the game would SO RARELY give them to me.

Now that I’ve upgraded my ships and my pilot upgrades more, I might give the harder difficulties another shot tho! We’ll see!

sorry for getting personal, but oughhhhh you know shits bad when I finally finish that longass post thats been sitting in my drafts for weeks just to distract myself. And Im not even american, I live in germany and we're doing fine-ish i'd say. Our Bundeskanzler just threw out the financial minister who sucked ass so thats nice, I'll hope the new guy ends up being less bad. I mean the afd (most far-right mainstream political party) got a lot of votes at the last major election and a lot of them came from young people as well, but our political system is basically built for stagnation so Im not too worried about them being able to do very much. or I guess I should say Im not the most worried Ive ever been, I am still pretty worried because the thing that sucks about this system is that making any progress is incredibly hard but its so easy to slip closer towards fascism

I am in FL this week visiting my grandma! oopsie! disclaimer that I somehow managed to be in a teeny tiny window of No Hurricane At All which I am very grateful for so I am totally safe, it's not even raining where we are lol

I initially had the thought of like, well, my flight on Thursday back might get cancelled so I may not actually make it to temple to read … so I definitely didn't study as much as I should have, which may have been a weird reverse manifestation thingy, the universe going "well you're not prepared so now you'll definitely be home in time" typa beat. ah well I have time to cram

watching: saw "The Watchers" this evening with my grandma on hbo. I'm gonna be so real with y'all, this movie sucked. it was not good! I understand and like the vibes they were going for but the script was bad, the acting was stilted because of the bad script, the plot was not good, characters were not compelling, THE TWIST WAS NOT WHAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN … spoilers, but the twist ABSOLUTELY should have been that the main character had been a changeling the whole time, not the old lady. which, like, maybe the point is that's what we're supposed to assume…? but they don't make it explicit which I think was a mistake because it just makes a lot of it feel out of place. I really loved the themes of twins/duality running through it that really just. carried zero weight ultimately. the redeeming factors of this film were the setting (which carried a lot of the cinematography, really atmospheric forest) and Olwen Fouéré who is extremely sexy. she is apparently largely a stage actress which makes a lot of sense, she really was the only one Acting acting which just made the underacting from Dakota Fanning so much flatter. mega nepo baby vibes from this (m night shyamalan's daughter), though I guess I could be nicer because she's my age and I doubt I could do a better job. shrug.

spent a large part of today watching Ryan Hall on youtube tracking the hurricane progress.

I made her brisket recipe and honey cake for Rosh Hashanah last weekend. great success, I might toss some baby carrots in with the brisket next time, I feel like it needed more veg, but otherwise was perfect. I got to bring honey cake to my grandma who probably hasn't had any in like 50 years and she loved it :) I really want to try making her Russian honey cake recipe but I didn't have the time or energy this year. I also picked up some "goldee" apples on a whim from a local orchard farmstand and they are soooooooo good 10/10.

misc: by some miracle I should be able to catch my scheduled flight despite mr milton, please everyone think affirming thoughts really really hard at [airport redacted] to keep it all moving tomorrow.

But even I will admit music has a special and debilitating power over me. The emotion, the word choices, the chord progressions that build up for the height of a song. Everything can make a song so powerful and oughhhhh. OughhhhhHHHHDFD Oh and don't even get me started on showing people your music taste and them showing you their faves and finding the spot in the middle where it melds. It's part of the reason i haven't been back to give many updates (I do have some news to share here!!! But I want to get everything around before I do), and I actually am just about halfway through the 3rd Chapter right now! :) I do sometimes post out-of-context references on my alt, though it's less to do with progress and more of me just kinda chuckling to myself as I go along... (So if you want to go in completely blind, which I recommend, I don't advise going to check it out!!)

Sips black tea. Ive said it before but I feel like people prioritise Dibs mental issues over Zims because Zim can't be softened and made more of a victim like Dib can. Despite the fact that Zim is a child soldier who's experienced what's basically indoctrination, people don't see him like that. They see him as someone who murders and harms innocent people, especially children, and don't recognise that Zim only acts that way because he's been in a military all his life where, if he isn't violent, he is nothing. People seem to "baby"ify Dib and his wrongdoings because he's easier to project onto. Sorry to be so blunt, but I really need to acknowledge that most people who like invader Zim are neurodivergent or don't exactly fit the "norm", just like the show and it's characters itself. But Dib, as a character, is more clear about not being the norm, about being the weird kid with no friends. So people empathize with him more, and transform him into a soft, unnecessarily hated child. Which, well... He is, depending on your interpretation. It isn't his fault that he's hated like that. But that doesn't travel back into Zim being one in the same as Dib, since he isn't as clear about it. He hides it better as a character, not as visibly effected by his ostracization by his peers. It's shown that he's effected by it, but he has outbursts and is loud and "annoying" enough to make it not seem like a big deal to him. And with that, it's much harder for people to project the "UWU soft bean" innocent victim image onto someone like him, despite the fact that he has much more trauma and problems than Dib. TLDR I think that bug is much more fucked up than dib and we need to start giving him forehead kisses and flower crowns too
