Ouizi’s “Summer Always Blooms.”

Contemporary artist Louise Jones, aka Ouizi, recently completed an intricate bundle of oversized pink, white and yellow flowers plus giant butterflies sprawling across a massive building wall in downtown Bentonville, Arkansas. The piece was produced and curated by the women-led global curator group Justkids and commissioned by OZ Art, who recently partnered to bring 13 public art experiences by world-class artists, including Nina Chanel Abney, Lakwena, Camille Walala, Steve Powers, Mantra and many more, to 9 cities in Arkansas last Fall.

RVA STREET ART FEST

Born and raised in Los Angeles to Shanghainese parents, Louise Jones (née Chen), aka Ouizi, now lives and works in Detroit. An early introduction to the work of Georgia O'Keefe — along with fond memories of picking figs with her grandmother — helped feed an obsession with flowers which only continues to grow as she applies her drawing and printmaking background to large scale mural projects. In 2012 Richmond, Virginia jumped on the street art festival bandwagon launching @RVAStreetArtFest — supporting arts education and showcasing an array of local and national artistic talent. In 2016 Ouizi joined the cast adding this work at La Vera Pizza on Hull St just across the James River in the Old Town Manchester neighborhood.  @0uizi/

Louise Jones (artist name Ouizi) created a mural for the Archives of American Art exhibition Bloom which opened March 1st at the Lawrence A. Fleischman Gallery.  The show will continue until up until October 6th.  Here is Ouizi working on the mural a week before the show opened.  Come to the exhibition to see the completed mural!
