OKAY SO, I’m gonna try to get active on here again. Cause, honestly it’s ridiculous how inactive I’ve been. Did I even rp more than like one or two posts over the summer?
I have a few things I need to do first: One of which is unfollow a bunch of people. Now, thing is, I don’t want to unfollow any mutuals who would still want to rp in the future, therefore I ask that you LIKE THIS POST so I can know you’re interested, and maybe shoot you a starter at some point (if i can see a way to get us interacting that is) so we can get something going. If anything just pop into my ask box if you’d like, I’m all for that.
I’m gonna reblog this a few times over the next day or two and see how that goes. And then I’m going to start unfollowing people, sorry. I need to clear things up and change a few things on my blog, see if that’ll help with my muse.

Their [Owen and Beru] execution was ordered by Darth Vader, who watched it via hololink, feeling it was "revenge" for their supposed weakness, and "failure" to defend his mother

prxncessleia said: Meanwhile Leia holds on to her anger FOREVER.
Leia's a lot more like Anakin than Luke is. Luke is a l o t more like Padme. Which is really interesting. I mean, Leia has Padme's political prowess, and Luke is more attuned to his capabilities in the Force and is also a really good pilot, but when it comes to personality, Luke is a thousand times more mellow than Anakin ever was. I mean, he has his moments where he gets annoyed, but it fizzles out pretty quickly. he's a lot more like Padme--p chill. Whereas Leia gets angry and it persists for a bit. She doesn't just get annoyed, she gets pissed and probably holds grudges. --actually the fact that Luke's able to let things go pretty easy is what made it easier for him to accept his path to becoming a Jedi i think.

already said this one billion times: Identical twins; Luke is told by Obi-Wan that his twin brother (Lassiter?? Lorenz?? Larik?? SOMETHING) has been captured by the Imperials on the Death Star. ...because lbh if Luke stumbled upon the video he'd be like ??? ?? ?? ?? ? ? ?? ?? ??????????????? (give me an excuse to be an alderaanian prince)
Role Reversal: Leia was raised by Owen and Beru on Tatooine where an R2 unit shows her the image of a young Alderaanian Senator seeking out a General Obi-Wan Kenobi. (give me an excuse to be an alderaanian prince x 2)
Anakin Skywalker didn't become Darth Vader: Unfortunately, the Empire still takes control of the galaxy. Anakin is forced to part ways with Padme, each taking one twin. Anakin with Luke and Obi-Wan on Tatooine, and Padme with Leia on Alderaan where they stay with the Organa's.
Zombie Star Wars: It starts off with one of the clones that the Emperor has created. It's some weird side effect, and it slowly spreads until it infects the Stormtroopers who eventually infect all the planets they inhabit. It's no longer a fight against the Empire, but a fight to save the galaxy against flesh eating zombies that are over running every world, adapting, evolving...
Modern (i think i have this in my verses): Luke finds a flash drive at a garage sale which has government projects he shouldn't know about on it. When he opens the file on his computer, a day later there are crazy foreigners at his door step, the FBI is hounding him and Ben Kenobi, the kind man who used to let him stay around his place for a day or two when Luke didnt want to be home now tells him he has to get that flash drive into the hands of an underground society called The Alliance. To do that, he has to get himself and the flash drive hidden and out from the eyes of the government.

Gotta keep
One jump ahead of the bounties
One jump ahead of blasters
I smuggle only what I can get on board --That’s Everything!
One jump ahead of the lawmen
And that’s all, and that’s no joke.
These guys don’t appreciate I’m Solo
[ Riff raff! Street rat! Scoundrel! Take that!]
Just taking what you won’t miss guys.
[Shoot him down and take it back guys]
I can take the hint, gotta face the facts, you’re my only friend, Chewie!
[Who? Oh it’s sad Han Solo’s hit the bottom.
He’s become every Bounty’s prize to find.
I’d blame parents except he hasn’t got’em]
Gotta smuggle this, gotta smuggle that
Tell you all about it when I’ve got the time.
One jump ahead of the slow pokes One skip ahead of my doom Next time gonna use a non de plume
One jump ahead of the Troopers One hit ahead of the Imps I think I'll take the Falcon for a spin.
[Stop thief! Vandal! Outrage! Scandal!]
Let’s not be too hasty!
[Still I think he’s rather tasty]
Gotta smuggle this, gotta smuggle that--otherwise we’d get along!
[Wrong]
One jump ahead of the Fighters
[Vandal]
One jump ahead of the pit
[Street Rat]
One trick ahead of Disaster!
[Scoundrel]
They’re quick but I’m much faster!
[Take that!]
Here goes, better throw my hand in, wish me happy flying,
I just gotta make the jump!

Luke being actually good at holding his alcohol because Biggs could be a bad influence sometimes and buy drinks, and they’d waste evenings getting completely drunk, doing stupid shit.
Luke getting completely wasted post-anh and waxing poetic to leia about how amazing she is, but not mentioning his budding romantic feelings for her because he feels inadequate as a silly farm boy from backwater tatooine.
Luke then half-jokingly hitting on Han cause it’s totally better than moping, and han being like ‘u r so d runk wow’ and being surprised by exactly how much luke had had to drink. Luke just joking around for a while until he kinda crumbles thinking about his and aunt and uncle and ben and biggs and being drunk is so not fun anymore.
Han being a nice friend and patting him on the back before scooting him off to sleep off his drunkenness, because aw Kid and no, ew, emotions.

There's something that always bothers me about Vader's redemption and Luke's part in all of it--which kind of fucks me up when roleplaying Luke, because I want to rp his character correctly, but then I get stuck on certain points--
Anakin falls to the Dark Side and does a ton of terrible things and becomes a monster both physically and mentally (I'm going to include TFU in this because that's pretty important and idgaf if it's not technically canon). He helps tear down the Jedi Order, kills children, hunts down all the Jedi, terrorizes the galaxy, 'adopts' a child whom he mentally/emotionally and physically abuses, betrays due to his fear of Palpatine (a fear that's complete and utter bullshit if you ask me, but that has more to do with the fact that Anakin is forever in the mentality of a slave: he can hardly give up calling Obi-Wan "Master" despite the fact that they are on equal level and therefore goes off to find someone else that will subjugate him. I'm not entirely certain why this is the case since he seems entirely capable of making his own decision, but it seems the only decisions that are PURELY his own and not the result of an order, or a rebellion against an order, is his marriage to Padme and his final decision to save Luke from death) and is without a doubt the second worst person in the galaxy, right beneath Palpatine himself.
Now, I'm all for the idea that in saving his son and killing Palpatine he renounces all of his evil doings and that absolves his sins. Because I imagine that once you've returned to the light side of the Force you're capable of mourning all the bad which you did--and I imagine he actually did mourn those things even as Darth Vader or else there wouldn't have been that speck of goodness with him which Luke was able to sense. My issue with all of this isn't necessarily that; it has far more to do with Luke than Anakin/Darth Vader.
As I've said before, Luke was devastated finding out that Darth Vader was his father, and in order to come to terms with that decided his only recourse was to save his father from the dark side despite all opposition (because that sliver of hope was found when Vader offered him a place by his side to rule the galaxy--which he did as well Galen, but Galen wasn't his son. Anakin apparently never lost hope of ruling the Empire. Though what he planned on doing when he finally reached his goal is a good guess--his initial intentions seemed that he wanted to create peace and I doubt that even as Vader he saw peace in the Empire but, can't really say for sure considering dark side and all that. Maybe it was some kind of mixture of Anakin's hopes for peace, the thought of having his son by his side, maybe redeeming himself in his own eyes by becoming Emperor which created the spark of uh goodness? I have no idea). Thing is, I just can't seem to reconcile the idea that he would be completely okay with everything that he'd done. I can understand why he would forgive him, because no one else was willing to do so (for good reason) but at the same time I can't see Luke just saying 'well he saved my life and he was the best person ever' (in the rotj novelization he's been fighting with this idea of darkness within himself and it comes to a climax when Palpatine is trying to goad him into killing Vader, but after everything he's just like 'I've made my decision and now I'm at peace' but things don't really work that way imo). And yet I sense that that's how we're supposed to look at him at the end of RotJ. I mean, I get it, Luke succeeded in bring his father back from evil and saved his soul, and in that he could be at peace--but there's just something that doesn't really add up to me.
At the end of ESB he's obviously devastated and there's eight months (I believe??) in between ESB and RotJ where, we can assume, he's mulled this over all in his head alone. He mentions the truth to Leia only right before he goes off to face Vader--and it seems that he hasn't spoken to either Obi-Wan or Yoda since (I'm not gonna go looking for the scene right now but I'm pretty sure he legit opens the conversation with something like 'Ben! Why didn't you tell me?'). Which means that no matter what Yoda said, Luke's training was something that started with Obi-Wan, continued on his own for three years before he goes to Dagobah, given further real training on Dagobah (and then of course tested, and he constructs his own light saber which is a test in and of itself if I remember correctly--right of passage), until finally he is (or would have been given) status as a Jedi Knight after defeating the Sith, much like Obi-Wan in TPM--and therefore is still REALLY incomplete. IDC how long he spent on Dagobah, it wasn't really that long for him to internalize all the ideology behind becoming a Jedi.
So I can't see Luke being so easily able to reconcile the fact that Vader, even after forgiving him and saving him, is his father, and that he's done terrible things to, not only himself, but his friends and his sister. I just see that as something that would really bother him even after RotJ. I can't see him walking away and thinking "Well I did it. I made a bad man into a good man. I fuckin did it."
I feel like there'd be some sort of emotional conflict there: was Luke's life more valuable than all the other people Vader killed, was that enough to absolve Vader of all the wrong he had committed? I figure what comes down to it is that the Force's will said 'yes, that's enough for him to return to the good side' but I don't feel it would be such an easy thing for Luke to settle. And yet I get at the same time if there's an emotional conflict that it causes problems with his being a Jedi and would therefore take tons of meditation to work out and he's supposed to be able to let go of all those feeling--but i just don't think it would be so easy for someone that didn't actually have a real training like Obi-Wan or Anakin did (And lmao Anakin did and he still had issues sO obviously it can't be so easy to just get rid of all those mental/emotional conflicts).
...I don't know if I've made any sense here, but I just kind of needed to get that out primarily cause I don't know if that should even be a problem in Luke's character. Like, should he still be bothered by that, or would that negate his ability to forgive his father? I dunno, I'm stUCK ON THIS. Idk, I mean is forgiving Anakin his evil the same as excusing him of it once he's been redeemed? :I I don't think that's the case but I'm.
TL;DR: The mun is having a hard time with the idea of forgiveness and shit when it comes to Luke and Anakin's relationship post RotJ.
#outofmindtricks#...dont bother reading this its a complete mess and I have no idea what i was getting at#iT'S LONG#and probably cONFUSING

Okay no but jokes aside, and I've probably beaten this subject to death by now, Luke would have been pretty devastated after learning Vader was his father.
I mean we don't really get to see that in the movies, at all. Cause we just jump from him getting his hand fixed to him going to rescue Han on Tatooine. I dunno anything about the novels in between ESB and RotJ and whether or not they mention these things, but from just inference about Luke's character and how much he wanted to know about his father and his heritage as well as his initial reaction to that knowledge--well it would have taken a while for him to come to terms with that.
I do know that in the novelization for RotJ he's still struggling with the information, really. They kinda gloss over it in the movie-- but Luke was hurt by the admission. He had this ideal of a father who was this great Jedi warrior and was cut down by Darth Vader--which was part of his reasoning for wanting to take him down in the first place (aside from Obi-Wan's death). He's thinking Anakin was this amazing figure to be idolized, because Luke's never had a real family (Owen and Beru were kind guardians, but they really did treat him like a nephew--there's a distance between them due to secrecy and lies since I think Luke sensed Owen was always lying to him otherwise why would he keep asking about Anakin?), so as soon as he gets this tidbit of information he hangs onto it like a lifeline.
So the rug is pulled out from under his feet. He sits on that for a l o n g time. I don't think it's very healthy that he kept that to himself, but lmao why would he want to reveal that "Hi, I'm Luke Skywalker, guess what my dad's actually Darth Vader hahahaha". The reaction to that would probably been not so great. I don't think he thought Leia or Han would treat him any differently, but there was probably always the small twinge of doubt. And Luke is fairly optimistic person--he likes to see the good in people; hence the reason he's disappointed in Han for his initial decision to leave the Rebellion. So of course when he's finally accepted this horrible truth, he realizes that hey, I sensed something in Vader that wasn't pure evil--and he wants to help. It doesn't matter what Vader did before, it doesn't matter that he's murdered countless of people--all that matters is right now he sensed a speck of light in all that black hole darkness and there's a chance he can bring his father back from hell.
I don't think it's all hunky dory to him though--it must still be a sore point to think about all the shit Vader did, and he desperately does not want to follow that path (thing about redeeming Vader, it also makes him realize that he's not doomed to become a Sith as well, i mean can you imagine the weight of that; one of the worst people in the galaxy is your dad and everyone is saying you gotta go kill him). He wants to redeem the Skywalker name (another reason as to why he helps save Vader). Like, I'm sure it bothered him--at least that's how I play Luke anyway, as always having this part of him that is constantly aware of any of his failures, that always wants to prove himself, that's constantly looking for his own place in the universe and reconciling his name sake. That tries to piece together why his father did what he did, why he turned to the dark side, why. Luke's always full of questions that usually can't be answered.
I could go on about the reasons for Luke literally needing to forgive Vader, and all the reasons why he needs to save him (the ESB dagobah cave scene has two meanings: Vader is his father, and Luke's fear of becoming like Vader and his need to defeat both that fear, and his father).
...can i just write essays on star wars i'd have a lot of fun providing evidence for that.
#outofmindtricks#holoarchive#i GOT REALLY CARRIED AWAY WITH THIS BUT GOD I COULD TALK ABOUT THIS ALL DAY HElp

Oh man, I had so much to say last night and now my brain is mush.
I’m in love with Poe Dameron tbqh. Like he didnt even have the biggest role but I’m in love with what we got out of his character. Idk why but he made me think of Wedge tbqh. ...someone ships him and Finn and I was just like “??? but why”
Marrying Poe. ME.
Rey/Finn makes much more sense.
(I laughed at Finn’s “you looked at me like no one else” well i mean you were a storm trooper, god u are so cute weeps heart eyes at first sight)
(laughed again at Finn and Poe’s jubilant reunion. you guys knew each other for like 5 minutes but i guess those five minutes WERE pretty intense. ...so i waved it)
(frowned at Kylo @ Rey “You think of him as a father-figure” him being Han and im just like ‘he HAS been mad nice 2 u but ok’)
also does Han know who she is cause they did a weird thing where when the alien lady (WHO I LOVED OMG) asked Han “Who’s the girl” they switched to Rey getting the lightsaber-- and the whole “it calls to you”
And why would she be getting images of Kylo if they weren’t somehow related??
Yeah I’m thinking that Rey is Luke’s daughter. I don’t know why Han nor Leia is aware (or at least Leia isn’t aware, I don’t know about Han--I feel like that cut was deliberate, it was a really specfic moment to shift over and i mean he warmed up to her REAL QUICK.) I also am not sure why Rey is like “Luke Skywalker?? I thought he was a myth” which has to mean that she was with her mother most likely? It looked like she was very young when she was left on Jakku, so it’s likely that that was the same time during which Snoak(?) seduced Ben/Kylo to the dark side. I’m not entirely sure--are they Sith? Because Snoak mentions that he is the head of the Knights of Ren which sounds kinda like this some kind of offshoot of the Sith, but idk could be wrong
Also lmao @ Kylo “I can teach you the ways of the force”
child you dont even know the ways of the force. Your training is so incomplete. You are the palest imitation of Darth Vader I have ever seen. Still loved him though. He has some really nice character potential. Also I’m gonna marry his hair. Personally really liked that lightsaber duel, even if it wasn’t a conventional one.
I’m honestly all sorts of fucked up about Han tbqh. Like holy shit, I saw it coming from a MILE away but I still was shaking my head the whole time “like please no” BUT AS SOON AS HE WALKED ON THAT AREA I WAS LIKE “NONONO”
“There’s one thing I have to do but I don’t know if I can. Will you help me”
</3
round of applause for Harrison Ford tho tbqh, he stepped into that role like he never stopped playing it. It was so damn perfect I could cry.
...Carrie Fisher felt a little um. lacking tho, not gonna lie. But I give her an okay since she really hasn’t been acting--unlike both Mark and Harrison. And wE DIDN’T EVEN GET TO SEE MARK IM SO--
his hair was gorgeous tho like wtf. also weird Jesus-esque shot when they were on the island. Jedi Jesus.
Finn is also super cute omg. He’s so cute. Wtf you’re adorable. And apparently they taught him how to shoot in Stormtrooper school. ;w;
Wtf was that INTENSELY Hitler/Nazi scene though jfc, like did you have to hit me over the head with the nazi germany symbolism. The guy even started shouting toward the end. and all the storm troopers did the one arm salute. Looked nice but they needed to chill with that. I know that was the original idea, but w o w you went there and then kept going.
I do hate the general tho. He needs to die. LIKE MAN I WAS JUST WAITING FOR KYLO TO FUCK HIM UP but he just doesn’t have the respect or the age yet for it. And it shows so well.
No I really enjoyed Kylo’s scenes. He’s trying so damn hard to be Darth Vader (Grandad gonna come down from his force place and smack u upside the head holy shit) God knows Luke must’ve told him ten thousand times “UR GRANDAD WAS A GOOD MAN AND RENOUNCED THE EVIL AT THE END”
and all Kylo heard was “...Renounced the Evil?? He was Evil?? sweet.”
you dont understand how much I love this stupid sith kid gOD HE’S SO STUPID
I love Rey ten thousand times more than. like I dont think I’ve loved a female character more in my l i f e. Leia can say she saved her ass herself all she wants, guess what, Rey actually saved her own ass. Like she was finding a way out when Finn and Han showed up.
Also Chewie 8(( when han died 8((( so upset.
if he had got a headshot on Kylo, that would’ve been over HAHA
Chewie and Han with the crossbow blaster IMFUCKING hOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PARTNERS AND HAN--YOU NEVER TOUCHED IT??
“I really like this”
why do you think your partner has been using it all these years wHY
also wtf were u smuggling wtf were those things how did you not dIE
he’s also definitely not dead hahaha that didn’t happen. haha. nah. he’ll be back haha.
#tfa spoilers#outofmindtricks#this is long and babbly and i just hAVE SO MANY FEELINGS#BUT DONT READ IF YOU DONT WANT MAJOR SPOILERS
