Before bedtime I decided to give a try with Sky Children Of The Light, how an owl OC would be. I'm really thinking into making more about this game, I always felt a great passion with journey and abzu, and this one is just as special (✿◡‿◡)

I recently read all of the Guardians of Ga'Hoole books and of course it reignited my hyper-fixation from middle school. I know they look kinda copy-paste-y, but for the sake of simplicity I just sketched out a base that I used for all of them. (They're all owls, what do you want from me?) All 6 started out in my sketchbook.

Let me introduce you to Benter, Orion, Solan, Dymas, Maple, and Ansel! All 6 are up on my artfight (I've nearly quadrupled the number of characters I have there now lol) along with some lore!

My Guardians of Ga'hoole OC, Nettle :)

Nettle is a wandering scholar who’s fascinated with plants of all kinds. Her mother was a healer and tried to encourage Nettle to settle into the same profession. Nettle, however, had no interest in comforting patients, or wiping up blood. She found the actual herbs they used to heal others much more interesting. Against the advice of her family, she left as soon as she could fly, travelling the lands to record various different plants, their uses, life stages and appearances.

Nettle doesn’t mind socializing with others, especially those who have a scientific or artistic mind like herself. However, she hates ‘politics’ and generally involving herself with the struggles of others, especially at larger scales. Her complicated diction, blunt honesty and sometimes unempathetic nature does not always endear her to others. She does have a few friends, and generally makes time to visit them—she enjoys giving them gifts from far away places.

Fact; Owls move their heads all around to judge distance because their eyes are fixed in place and can't move.

I wondered recently about Owl ritos and the idea that their eyes are fixed in place and swivel their heads, then I remembered that in BOTW, Elder Kaneli, an owl rito I believe, does move his eyes.

We don't even see his head swivel, which is kind of a missed opportunity imo. I have one Owl rito oc, Huegen, and I have been thinking of how his case works.

I decided that he could move his eyes only a little. For upclose things, he has no need to move his head. For far away things, he'll turn, swivel, and circle his head around. And yes, he can turn it 180°.

Owl ritos are just a really interesting idea that zelda hasn't touched on as much as they could have. What do yall think?

I sincerely wish Tumblr hadn't dropped this illustration again. I'm just looking for viewers for my owl, not knowing what methods to attract people to my account. His name is Desmond and he is a wizard. Looking for inspiration, I watched "Legend of the Guardians" and now I'm even set up to read books! I think in the future I will not mind portraying the heroes of history.
