I haven't posted in awhile so have some new art for my Diamond Swap AU (which is just some character designs)

I know I originally said that the fusion that was apart of Purple and White's rebel gems was a Garnet, but I decided to change that. Now the fusion is Anhydrite, a fusion of Aquamarine and Padparadscha. The two gems are from Yellow's court instead of Blue's court and the Off-Colors because I felt it fitting for the AU. Aquamarine is still the same from canon, just in Yellow's court instead, but has grown nicer over time with being fused with Pads. Pads is treated like other Sapphires, since she is one, but her future vision isn't like a normal Sapphire. Her future vision allows her to see things in the very near future (like when someone is literally about to enter the room to announce terrible news of a rebellion from the younger diamonds, who are gathering up their courts to help with protecting Earth from being colonized by Homeworld). It may seem useless at first, but she usually has more information on current situations due to being able to see all, within a certain range, of what is happening in the close future/the now. This makes her a valuable asset to the Diamonds as the rebellion takes place. However, Purple and White know this and try to use this against them.

Pads had been discussing with Yellow Diamond that Purple and White would arrive and be stopped as 7 gems would be poofed, herself included, during the fight. Just as Pads said that the two youngest diamonds did indeed show up and six gems were poofed, but before Pads could be poof Aquamarine pushed Pads out of the way, deeming her too valuable to be poofed at a time like this, causing the two to fuse into Anhydrite for the first time. This caused chaos and the two unfused before Aquamarine quickly rushed the two off the Cloud Arena down to Earth. (basically following the story of Garnet).

They weren't quick to fuse again, making sure to find somewhere safe to be since they knew that gems of their class weren't supposed to fuse together. Pads tried to see when they would each chance she got, but Aquamarine always managed to do something she never could predict, leaving her in the dark about their future. Aquamarine mostly acted like she didn't actually enjoy fusing as much as she actually did. She just feared that if they fused again that trouble would so follow. However, she couldn't deny the longing to be something more than just an aquamarine and padparadscha with Pads. Soon the two would fuse once more, still unsure of who they new were, but loved every second of it. Eventually the two would be found by Purple and White and be asked to join their cause to protect the Earth, a place where the two could exist as Anhydrite for as long as they wanted and others could do the same.

OK. This is my first attempt at writing Fanfiction. It’s a Steven universe fanfiction.

This takes place between Steven Universe the movie and Steven Universe Future.

Backhanded Memories

Today was orientation of their first day operating and they decided to allow an easy start to the new school year.

“Hello class This is Garnet, and we’ll be doing some self-disclosure today,” a tall women with a star-shaped visor with big and cubed hair said, “The purpose of this orientation is to get to know each other as students. you don’t have to share, but I encourage you to do so. As you already know, my name is Garnet, a fusion who fought for my right to exist during the gem war on Earth, and I’ll be conducting some of the classes you’ll attend here.” Several gems clapped, Garnet gestured to the gem next to her, another fusion with four eyes and arms, a pointed nose, wide afro-style hair, and her gems placed on her chest and navel, to speak.

“W-well, this is a little nerve wracking,” she said, “H-hi everyone, my name is Rhodonite and we-I used to serve a Morganite but ran away after we were caught fusing. L-luckily I managed to escape Homeworld with my friends and captain Lars, and now I’m here .” she said as she nervously chuckled.

The group of gems were amazed and excitedly began taking turns by sharing their names and former roles they had back on Homeworld. Some were soldiers, others were artisans, maintenance workers, record keepers, and rebels of the former empire.

The gems were quickly sharing their stories, as the circle was finishing, Garnet called on a little gem, an orange sapphire who wore an orange ball dress with puff sleeves and a big bow, with her gem on the back of her right hand with the power to only see into the recent past, “Padparadscha would you like to share?”

There was silence for a moment and then Padparadscha replied “Oh! I predict Garnet will ask me to share my past.” She then paused again, a frown forming on her face, “Sadly I am unable to. Please excuse me, I need to go.” She said as she quickly ran away, leaving the class a little dazed.

“It’s alright class, everyone gets nervous once in a while.” said Garnet. “Now then, as we have finished the orientation, the rest of the time can be used to get to know each other better.”

Rhodonite looked at the direction where the orange sapphire went, hand on her face and arms crossed, and a concerned expression on her face.

“You should go talk to her,” Garnet said, startling Rhodonite.

“B-but what if I say something wrong and it will upset her?” Rhodonite asked.

“Don’t worry about it.” Garnet reassures, she then gently pushes her hand against her back. “she’ll be by the cliff overlooking the ocean .”

Rhodonite nodded and ran towards the cliffs east of little homeschool as Garnet watches them silently, wishing them good luck, as Rhodonite calls out for Padparadscha.

“PADPARADSCHA! PADPARADSCHA! PAD-!”

Rhodonite stops as they see the little orange sapphire sitting on the grass looking over the cliff towards the setting sun, sniffling and small sobs that could be heard.

Rhodonite sits down on the grass next to her and exhales.

“Padparadscha, why did you run off like that? You had me worried. Please, tell me what’s wrong.” They said concerned.

A silence engulfed them both. Until a backhanded gem raised their palm towards the sun.

“Rhodonite, I predict you will try to ask me what’s wrong, and I see there’s no point in trying to hide it.” Padparadscha began. “When I emerged from one of Homeworld’s kindergardens I was like any other of my gem type in appearance, grace, and poise. I was respected, treated with care by the gems surveying my emergence. I was taken to be tested to see if my visions would be useful to Homeworld’s empire. I failed, as I could only recall what only just happened. I was called defective, useless, an abomination. They ordered me to be shattered. The guards were reluctant to shatter a high-ranking gem type, I was grabbed and ready to be shattered but when I realized what was happening, before I knew it, I was flying away from the Guard’s reach and crashed through the facility ceiling.” She paused and began continued. “I eventually landed on Homeworld’s surface and met you, Fluorite, and The Twins of Rutile.”

The small sapphire parted her hair to reveal her singular eye, still leaking tears.

“Although I am a sapphire, I can only live in the past. No matter what I do or say it would have always been done. Do you know what it’s like to only see what you have missed?”

“Padparadscha, I had no idea you felt this, if only I-“ Rhodonite was then unintentionally cutoff by the smaller gem.

“Despite that,” she continued “ever since I met all of you and Captain Lars, it made realize that I was happy to be with you. Every little recommendation, interaction, and compliment made me feel like I belonged.” She then turned to the taller gem fusion looking at Rhodonite with admiration.

“Thank you.” She said as she leaned her side onto Rhodonite and hugged them.

Rhodonite’s lower arms hugged back. “You’re welcome.” They said, “the sunset looks beautiful from here, isn’t it?”

A cool breeze passed.

“I predict, you’ll say the sunset is beautiful. And I see it is.”

Both of them were unaware of their teacher a fair distance away from them, smiling as she adjusted her shades reflecting the pair in front of the sunset.
