FTWDs final season could have been so much better if it was revealed that Troy was running padre and controlling madison (as revenge) this whole time. He knew enough about nick and Alicia to make madison think padre knew who and where they were this whole time. And here are some other reasons how this storyline would make sense and be more interesting:
- Troy has a military background so him taking over and running a military base makes more sense than two teenagers building it up by themselves because all the adults died.
- taking and training up children to be solidiers also would make a little sense because of his own fucked up upbringing and the idea he has of the type of people who were made for this world. He would have probably had the same idea as shrike, that the kids stood a better chance at padre than with their “weak” parents. The mother of his child dying for being a good person and not getting to raise their daughter (who would not be named after his abuser) could have also played into this idea of the kids being separated from their good parents.
- shrikes radiation cure experiments: Troy ran walker bite experiments before, just to see how people would turn. So it would also make sense if the work we see shrike doing was something he approved of or an idea he himself came up with. As for shrike, it would make sense that she turned out this way if she’d spent years being mentored by someone like troy otto instead of becoming evil and stealing children just because her dad died.
- the scene where madison smashes the glass to expose “padre” would have been such a good and shocking reveal if it was Troy. Imagine Madison finding out that Troy is not only alive but had been the one running this the whole time!
There’s also a lot of other things I would have done differently for the other characters too and I would have liked Madison to have a little villain era and do some really fucked up shit as she tries to take down Troy and padre. How dark would Madison go? Would she survive with her humanity still intact?
I know I’m just talking into the void here because no one care about this shitshow but I just hate it when shows have a plot that could have been good, maybe even great but then completely miss the mark and fans come with better theories and ideas with minimal effort and thought.
#somewhere dave erickson is screaming (and relieved that at least frank dillane stayed away from the show lmao)#fear the walking dead#ftwd#madison clark#troy otto#i also would have had s7a focus on strand vs alicia but v differently with only alicia’s ending staying the same pretty much#then 7b would have been wrapping things up with morgans family and actually seeing the group being taken by padre before having a time jump#then season 8 would have been the much better padre/troy/madison arc#the way these writers reaally do not know how to write for troy and madison#it’s like they tried doing what they thought DE wouldve done with them but couldn’t decide if they wanted them to be villains or be redeemed#anyway i will always mourn the arcs we were meant to have in season 4#madison becoming the villain vs nick and alicia and whatever was planned for troy#troy was only killed off bc dave didn’t trust the new showrunners with him and he couldnt save the OGs by killing them too lmao#but i am glad alicia is alive and we got to see daniel sharmans acting bc most of the cast were only giving about 20% atp#but who can blame them? the writing got to new levels of bad in s7/8 and their personalities were changing every few episodes#actually to be fair they did the best with what they were given they just seemed done#i only tuned in to alicias episodes in s7 so my opinion on the rest of it is from what ive read bc i just could not get through it#so my opinion on the characters full arcs in s7 may be wrong

Warning spoilers for the next episode under the cut and also: me transcribing this scene that made me yell. Mute the “ftwd spoiler tag” or scroll past this if you don’t want to see all this of want to watch the episodes. Hope my fave gif makers will share asap cause I am not as talented as you guys are. With subtitles and raw preferably.
Scene 1: why Troy so desperately wants a safe place
“It’s your kid.” “Why’d you think we wanted Padre?” “Why didn’t you tell us what you wanted instead of trying to take it?” “Oh, so you could take my daughter from me too?” “I didn’t take anyone from you!” “That’s not true.” Troy shakes his head, “her mother’s dead because of you.” “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” “I don’t have time for this Madison!”
Scene 2: Troy vs Madison: Troy’s revelation
“Who did you think I took from you?” ”The woman who rescued me from the dam. The woman who gave me a second chance. ” Troy struggles and pleadingly begs Madison through strenuous grunts, “Please, I need to find my girl.” “No! Now you’re gonna know what it feels like wondering where your kid is!” “Mine could still be alive.”
So Troy was rescued at the Dam!!! That’s where he met his lady. So for 12-13 years he had someone and then Madison killed her. It strikes me as odd that she doesn’t remember it though. Anyway these two wandered around together for years. Had something. Fell in love. WHO IS THIS LUCKY LADY? But also, she tended to his wound? She likely knew about Troy’s past too and Troy admits in his moment of vulnerability and love for someone that she gave him a 2nd chance and now he only has their daughter, Tracy. So I wonder did Troy turn ‘evil’ as the show is trying to portray or were he and his lady just in tune with each other and she was equally a ruthless badass as him.
I personally prefer for the 2nd to be true, yeah he had growth, but also Troy is MADE for the apocalypse. He admits in this same episode that he (and Nick) “were better suited in this world than the last one”. I need more. I need a Troy Otto spinoff where we have this 12-13 year gap filled and if not, my ASS will be writing something in relation to my Troy Otto series I’m writing, which will follow canon S3 up until S8.

Now that a week has passed since that horrible ending of FTWD, how would you have liked Troy's story to be wrapped up?
Thanks for asking! I guess it’s gonna be a LONG one…
If I absolutely had to wrap his story, then I would’ve made him and Tracy leave the main group/PADRE behind. It’s hard for me to say that this season had any arcs, but the potential was there - Troy appears both stuck in his old ways and being perceived by other characters as the person he was 12 years ago, but during the season he realizes that he’s already changed a long time ago and lets go of some things and ideas that he has been carrying around like deadweight.
I saw a lot of people say that Troy is irredeemable because he ‘killed’ Alicia, but for Tracy to believe the lie about being her kid, that must’ve happened ~8 years ago very shortly after Serena’s death. A much younger Troy who haven’t really experienced fatherhood yet lashing out in grief is very different from this idea of current Troy seeking out Alicia in cold blood that some people seem to have.
We even have a parallel with Madison, who assumed that Nick has been dead for years and didn’t even look for him, finding out that Charlie killed him as a misguided 11yo, but still violently lashing out at her and sending Charlie to her death. Madison fully expected Charlie to die, and if that confrontation happened right after Nick’s death with no one around to act like her conscious, then I have to assume that she would’ve killed Charlie. I mean, Madison isn’t above killing kids…
So, I would’ve brought more attention to when ‘killing’ Alicia must’ve happened and how that parallels Madison while also highlighting what Troy didn’t have back then - time to process and a support system to stop him like Victor and Daniel tried with Madison. Otherwise, that’s just hypocrisy. Which this season was full of, but it went completely unaddressed.
Every ‘good’ character was acting like they know Troy, when most of them saw him maybe once or knew him for a couple of weeks at best, but they’re very sure about the opinions they have on him, even tho 12 years have passed. They also act like his perception of those events isn’t correct, while their is.
It’s especially evident with Daniel acting like Troy has lied to Tracy about Ophelia, when he absolutely told her the truth. Ophelia did poison a lot of innocent men. As unfair the situation was for Walker and his people, what most ranchers were guilty of was peacfully living on the land that was still legally bought from the tribe, and then also trying to protect their home.
If they were somehow not innocent enough, then Nick was poisoned and almost died too, but Madison sure kept her mouth shut about that little detail while literally having Nick’s ashes on her. She, herself, beat Ophelia up for what Tracy says she did, but for some reason Daniel never gets challenged on rejecting the truth.
Let’s not forget that the scene leads to Strand realizing that Daniel is only there because he wants to hurt Troy for causing Ophelia’s death by killing Tracy, and then Daniel and Madison actually try to kill Tracy in an unnecessary cruel way only to be stopped by Strand. Seems like a very weird thing to not explore more, when Troy’s main sin is ‘killing’ their daughters. These people are not better than Troy, in many ways they are worse, so, if they deserve another chance and to go their separate ways than so does he.
Troy was really on his best behavior this season. He is constantly accused of being the worst, but his actions don’t support it. He takes over the hotel with no casualties, he doesn’t intend to kill Charlie, her offers to take over PADRE peacefully, he refuses to side with Crane, he saves Madison - he’s not killing anyone just because he can, and is ready to avoid all casualties.
I’ve seen people treating Troy killing Luciana’s men as some kind of proof that he didn’t change, but they had an option to just leave the place before Troy even came. Troy was there only because his kidnapped child sent a distressed call from that location. He was wiling to resolve that peacefully too, but was forced into a shootout by men that were either directly responsible for kidnapping Tracy or guilty by association, men that were also getting in his way of saving Tracy from being killed by Madison and Daniel. He wasn’t after these men, as they for some reason assumed.
Troy was not in the wrong in that situation and, overall, he proved every character that badmouthed him wrong with his actions. Charlie says that Troy only cares about hurting Madison and not PADRE? Troy saves her life and proves that safety of his daughter (the reason he wanted PADRE) is more important. Daniel says that Troy is a lier? But what he told Tracy about Ophelia was true, and he either confesses about other stuff or lies to protect his child. Strand acts like Tracy needs to be rescued from Troy? Troy is literally the best parent this show had. And so on.
It boggles my mind that the show is either unaware that Troy’s words and his actions are so different or is aware, but unwilling to do anything with it. Kinda like it does absolutely nothing to call out other characters (baby snatchers, attempted child murderers, killers for hire, ex tyrants and such) on their hypocrisy when judging Troy. So, going back to the original question, I would address all that and make all the characters realize how similar they are, and that they have no ground to judge each other. That the only good thing they can do is go their separate ways, as they seem to be much better people when they are not in close proximity.
Oh, and if I’m not allowed to keep Serene ‘alive’ long enough to have Troy put her out of her misery and him and Tracy burry her together, then I would give him more time to process her ‘death’. I think she serves as a perfect symbol of Troy clinging to things that are no longer there, his ‘deadweight’. He seems to blame Alicia and Madison for her death, but he went from someone who ‘killed’ Alicia out of grief to someone who saves Madison. Allow him to meaningfully burry his past and that be proof of his change and the fact that his revenge quest is over.
ALTERNATIVELY
If I don’t actually have to finish Troy’s story, then I would retcon the shit out of this season with one simple fix - unreliable narration from a severely traumatized 8yo girl.
You saw Madison push a dull ass object through Troy as if he’s made out of dough? No, you didn’t! Tracy’s mind exaggerated that wound. You saw Troy dead on the ground? No, you didn’t, because Tracy already ran away, and that’s her mind filling the blanks. You saw a dozen adults standing there doing absolutely nothing after she ran away? No, they all ran after her and left injured Troy behind to be rescued by his men, who should be in the area anyway.
You saw walker!Troy? Well, that being a false memory child mind came up with to cope with trauma makes far more sense than an 8yo, who got easily overwhelmed by walkers multiple times before, spending an entire night searching through the remains of a 5000 horde that was just in the area, in the dark, and actually finding her dad, who went in some random direction, without being eaten alive.
Then her digging a grave for a 6’1 man in the ground that was so frozen that it could hold a horde, with her bare hands too. Then easily finding her way back to Madison, who got saved from a gunshot by a tiny soft silver necklace, and digging her out from under rubble. Then an 8yo knowing some ‘field medicine’ that allows you to heal chronic lung issues with zero oxygen tanks and such.
None of these things make sense and the show would be better, if they will get retconned as Tracy running away too early to see Troy die, shooting Madison (but the bullet only grazing her, which is something Tracy could actually know how to deal with later) or just knocking her out and then spending the night crying holed up somewhere close while her mind makes these fixes to allow her to go back and help the only adult she has to rely on for survival.
Then I would continue Troy’s story, where he first gets better physically and mentally, maybe finds a new community of interesting characters (that isn’t just 13 ‘fanatic’ men, but also a little boy, so, do Troy’s men have families with them that we never see? What happened to the boy? Why even add a boy, when a grown ass man could’ve told us that Tracy is gone…) before going to find his daughter who won’t even be with Madison and Alicia at that point (because I don’t want to see them again) who left Tracy with whatever first community they found (good for her).
That’s my pitch for the first 2 seasons of a Troy spinoff.

FTWD Thoughts {𝒯𝑅𝒪𝒴}
Tumblr media
Okay so was I the only one that was disappointed with how dirty they did Troy when they brought him back?? Like WTF WAS THAT??
Like you brought Troy Otto back from the dead, and ya'll (ftwd) fumbled so hard. How the fuck do you ruin that good of a character?
I wanted Troy to come back as a complete MENACE. I wanted him to come back at the most dangerous and conniving, and driven villain in TWDU since The Governor (using him as an example cause he was the only villain to actually scare me) And then of course he should have gotten shit done and settled down and been good and had a life cause he is NOT evil
And they set him up SO well, his return and his entrance was EVERYTHING, in the first episode he started off so strong, and then, as they always do, they fumbled. They downgraded Troy so much, downgraded his power, his abilities ALL OF IT
Why? Cause they had to make sure Madison could beat him. Cause lets be honest, Troy with full power and ability? There is no way in hell he was losing to Madison, and the showrunners couldn't do that cause they're stupid. They sacrifice so many awesome characters and so many awesome storylines for the fucking Clarks and I hate it.
Given, I don't like Madison or Alicia. If you know me, or have seen be blog before, you know that lol.
I think FTWD really took off in popularity and awesomeness in season 4, AFTER Madison was gone, and Morgan took over. Why? Well one Madison was annoying AF so I was happy she was gone. But ALSO because the story expanded, it took on more awesome characters, and it wasn't just about the Clarks. It was about ALL the characters and their journeys and struggles. We got to see John, and June, Dwight, and more about Luci and a bunch of others.
It started to feel more like an actual group, like TWD with Rick and his group, which I liked.
But of course, then we had to ruin stuff for the Clarks. Like, no, stop it.
Stunting Troy's character has happened a lot and repeatedly with FTWD especially when it comes to Madison. Like they couldn't let him be happy, have a family, have a living wife, keep his kid. Like, stop it. Stop screwing over one of the best characters of FTWD!
Like, if we were being honest, Troy should have been an unstoppable force of nature! And like, was he truly evil? NO, gods no. He offered the people of PADRE a place to live, sure he wanted the compound to keep his own people safe, but he never says he's gonna kick everyone else out. He just wanted Madison and Strand dealt with. And you know what, I understand that.

MY PREDICTIONS OF SEASON 8b OF FTWD AS SOMEONE WHO STOPPED WATCHING IT AFTER SEASON 3
people who will die:
Luciana
Troy
Sherry
who is the kid in the trailers?
obviously Troy’s (although I don’t think she’s his biological child but he adopted her or something like that) but somehow she’s tied also to Alicia who isn’t dead but maybe she’s been captured by Troy as a way to make Madison suffer idk.
what does Troy want?
PADRE (who I have 0 idea about what that is, I think they like steal kids?) took his kid so he wants to get her back and also to kill Madison because she’s with PADRE (like when he said “you took everything from me” in the trailer.)
what I’m hoping for:
Alicia’s return (which is very likely)
Troy’s character not being completely destroyed (which is also very likely)
ANGST
not a boring season like season 4 was
idk I need to catchup with the last 5 seasons because I’m not understanding a shit about what Fear The Walking Dead is about anymore

“Bird/Rebirth” symbolism from TWDDD 1x2 Alouette
To get it out of the way, we’re talking about episode 1x2 here, or 102 if you want to format it that way. I’m mentioning it because...
Tumblr media
...as we've talked about for years, the hands on the clock behind Beth as she wakes up (rebirth/resurrection symbolism) points to the TEN and the TWO. Or in other words, the 10 and the 2, as in 102. Or as in “episode 1x2”. Neither the audience nor the characters knew anything about Beth’s whereabouts at that point, she might as well have been dead.
But of course she wasn’t. Because where Beth, in 5x8 Slabtown, was protected by the Bird symbolism from her encounter with the Blue Heron painting from 4x12 Still...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...Lily wasn't. TWDDD 1X2 was the episode where she died.
Tumblr media
...or that's how you could put it for simplicity’s sake. It's not entirely correct though, the reality is a bit more complex.
Tumblr media
As we saw, Isabelle sang an old lullaby, “Alouette”, to calm Lily down before giving birth. “Alouette” is French for lark, and “Lark" is a bird.
In other words, the Bird symbolism actually WAS present in Laurent's birth scene, it just didn't apply to Lily. Instead, it protected her child.
(Let's also not forget that Lark was Madison's (from FTWD) Padre name, and Madison "resurrected" after being thought to have perished in the fire (Sirius symbolism) at the Diamond Stadium)
Tumblr media
And in the words of Pere Jean: "It's a miracle".
A live baby, born from a dead woman. That's what I'd call major "resurrection/rebirth” symbolism.
Tumblr media
Let's talk about how this is how we know the rebirth/ resurrection symbolism is also intertwined with the Sirius symbolism. As I constantly keep talking about, Sirius symbolism means return/resurrection/rebirth because it originates from the astronomical event that occurs when Sirius the Dog Star returns to the night sky after having disappeared for some time. And "Sirius" symbolism in the TWDU is often represented by the prescence of "fire" in some way, shape or form, because Sirius the Dog Star got its name from Greek "Seiros", which means "glowing", "scorching".
And how do we know baby Laurent is covered by Sirius symbolism?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Welcome, Laurent"...
Here are few fun facts about Saint Laurent (Lawrence in English), who we now know baby Laurent is named after:
Tumblr media
Here he is, looking fierce in the face of fire:
Tumblr media
Oh, by the way, Saint Laurent/Lawrence is often referred to as "Saint Laurent/Lawrence of Rome"...
Tumblr media
Isn't that an interesting coincidence? Because we all remember this...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As I've written about in countless posts over the years, Beth is a Sirius character, look at her face, she's no stranger to lighting stuff on fire!
Au contraire, this is the face of someone VERY comfortable around fire (at least from a symbolism standpoint). Look how exited she is over the thought of burning shit down:
Tumblr media
And finally, let's appreciate the Bird symbolism that was permeating the final minutes of 4x12 Still, along with all the Sirius (fire) symbolism and the references to Rome...
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Enjoy this "wolf" reference against a backdrop of ravaging flames...
Tumblr media
Finally, I think this is a good time to remind everyone of the ongoing filming in and around the Louvre this week...
Tumblr media
...because it sure is a tremendous coincidence that the name "Louvre" possibly could be a reference to...
Tumblr media
…a wolf's den.
Yup! The name “Louvre” is by many thought to be a reference to a wolf's hunting den.
It's almost as if the Louvre is precisely where the “wolf” would be comimg "home" to, or something...
I'm sure there will be a party if/when that happens...

Teddy was a great addition to Fear the Walking Dead. I wish he hadn't gotten killed off in season 6. Part of the reason why season 7 was dreadfully boring was because it didn't have Teddy in it. The villains in S7 were lame, uninteresting, and non-threatening. Imagine if Teddy had been in that season, doing his best to make the apocalypse even worse. He was a good villain and the showrunners killed him off way too soon.
Honestly, I wouldn't have minded if he had been the main villain for season 8 too. Including Troy was a mistake. He should have stayed dead. Teddy would have been so much better as the villain for the final season of FTWD. The show probably could have still worked with the PADRE stuff included. Maybe Teddy could have killed Shrike and her brother, then he and his cult could have taken over PADRE for themselves, and Madison, Morgan, and the others could have fought them.
Unfortunately, that's not what happened. Teddy got killed too soon. And seasons 7 and 8 of FTWD had awful villains.

Maddison supposedly died at the dimond stadium.

She was gone for a very long time, presumed dead.
We know she didn't die there, and you could say she survived/resurrected at the dimond stadium, too.
Just going to leave this here...👇👇♦️♦️♦️💎💎💎

The official walking dead account also used this confetti 🎊 filter to depict the return of Maddison and FTWD. No other character got the confetti filter added to their picture.

It's the party when the wolf comes home, confetti! 🎊 Wolf = Louvre/dimond.
Beth started out trying to collect kids to get them on the bus, Maddison is collecting kids to get them to Padre.

If FTWD had revealed Madison had died when she was shot and she actually what we see of her after is her in the afterlife or a pre-death dream sequence. And the story strand tells Tracy about Madison surviving the shot and saving padre is just to save 8 year old Tracy from the trauma of being a murderer. Making her believe that she inspired Madison to save padre from her fathers horde (which also may be causing her to feel guilt), I’m an attempt to make her believe in goodness and remembering “grandma” Madison in a more positive light.
I mean.. about it, she is reunited with Alicia, who is healthy now and for the record, she should have died on the beach - it makes sense given that Alicia wakes up looking healthy and feeling healthy and once again the colours are brightened as she goes off to help others. Then when we see them watching from above, that part is real and we are actually seeing the other characters alive and well. Madison and Alicia were just seeing that everyone is going to be okay before they move on. When strand sees them he’s seeing their spirits or imagining them. Their journey home to LA is actually their journey to a version of heaven/peace. It also fits in this story, bc they alluded to an afterlife / near death dream when nick died and when grace almost died, but her baby actually died instead. Anyways this is just my stupid thoughts on how to make the finale less of a dumpster fire. I spent too much time on thinking of ways to improve bad storylines.

This week's FTWD episode made no sense to me. You're going to bring Dwight and Sherry all the way back to the Sanctuary in Virginia but have no tie in with any of the OG communities? Absolutely pointless.
If the endgame was to get Dwight back to Padre then they could have caught up with him somewhere near the Georgia border. It was like bringing Morgan all the way back to Atlanta for only one episode.
Honestly, it would have been better to let Dwight and Sherry leave only to find a way to write them into the spinoff.

Sort of random review for ftwd s8 ep 6 (spoilers ahead)
Things that made me ugly cry:
- "i will leave this message every morning at down" the parallel i swear
- "I need you to look after Grace for me"
I mean just the fact that he buried Grace near Eastman.. 💔
- the whole speech to Eastman, how much he's grateful for him, the little smile he gave his grave while Mo was training with the stick, like "see how good she is?"
"They are people that means as much to me as you all do", i m so happy he said that 💚
And the worst: "need to make sure they are ok"
Well, well.. 😭
and then you see the people he lost in a flashback montage, AND IT INCLUDED BENJAMIN😭
Yet he doesnt even know abt Henry😭
Finch dying, i f....king hate it. He was such an angel.
Dwight and Sherry over, "maybe we're just not meant to be together", "maybe us failing has nothing to do with bad guys like Negan" he says, its awful, it hurts, i mean he did everything to find her, and then they dont work out. F... off, really, im mad. I get that Finch dying didnt help (fucking understatement), but this is a guy who fought so much for her and now he's giving up and well, its been more than 8 years plus the time spent together before the apocalypse so yeah its unfortunately realistic or at least it can be. Love doesnt always last. What hurts is that you know they still love each other. But love isnt always enough. They tried. More than once. But it hurts. Really hurts. Just like real life...
Ok, so abt Lennie interview, i guess i fell for a trap. I used to say i dont listen what actors say good or bad, and here i was falling for this trap: now, which trap: interview trap or "teasing that will never led to somewhere trap", i guess we will see
Madison taking over Padre, hell yeah. Can u imagine that 2 seasons ago she was supposed to be dead?
Is it Troy, is it Alicia's arm?
Now, we saw with Madison (and Troy?) that everything's possible so... im sure Alicia's alive. Hope they reunite.
And Strand...
One last thing: farewell Morgan, i will always love you, but you better come back on my screen and reunite with Rick and everyone, and the sooner the better
Edit: and or course... when he says abt Rick and him that it wouldnt be the first time they find their way back to each other... 😭
