Clau Gunther y Dj Pamela Lutz presentan su primer trabajo conjunto: “Qué es Amar? Remix”

Pamela y Clau se conocieron hace aproximadamente 8 años, ambas eran parte de la minoría de mujeres que trabajaban para grandes empresas mineras. Pamela de origen nortino y Clau oriunda de Valdivia, ambas prevencionistas de riesgos de profesión para el área de supervisión, se encontraban cada semana para revisión de informes y fue así como de la formalidad nació esta amistad un tanto insólita y con misteriosos matices, ya que ninguna le comentó jamás a la otra sobre su pasión por la música y la inevitable postergación a la que ambas estaban sujetas, debido a los quehaceres cotidianos que dejaban los sueños siempre de lado… Las condiciones laborales eran duras, la jornada extensa, un trato muchas veces desfavorable, en un ambiente machista donde la empatía jugaba un papel fundamental para conservar el buen ánimo: “Construíamos un ambiente agradable dentro de las posibilidades, no siempre se daban y no era nada fácil”.

Cuando Clau se trasladó a Santiago, luego de una importante demanda por derechos laborales que interpuso en contra de la compañía, tras ganar el juicio, perdió el contacto fluido con Pamela pero aún así mantuvieron la amistad aunque las funciones de cada una eran diferentes y requerían de bastante tiempo para adaptarse a una nueva realidad. Comenzó una nueva era para ambas, la época del crecimiento en diversas facetas...Fue una etapa de importantes desafíos, logros personales y sobretodo laborales. Lo anecdótico de esta historia es que nunca hablaron de su pasión oculta por la música y solo luego de que Clau por medio de las redes sociales descubriera las imágenes de Pamela como DJ, comenzaron a conversar seriamente el tema “de pronto veo a Pame en fotografías y videos de Facebook haciendo mezclas, era muy talentosa y lo gracioso de esto es que jamás me la habría imaginado en ese plano...Bueno, creo que ella a mí componiendo y cantando con una guitarra ni en sueños!”.

Tras circunstancias familiares complejas, Clau decidió regresar al sur y partir de cero, su primera inversión fue una guitarra y de esa pasión reprimida nace “Qué es amar?” su primer sencillo: “Era un día triste, estaba mirando el atardecer y las aves volaban hacia el sol...esa imagen me inspiró. Yo seguía buscando respuestas, mi guitarra nueva, mi voz y la letra hicieron lo suyo, pero no responden la pregunta...creo que eso la hace más interesante!”.

El primer sencillo de Clau gustó, superó todas las expectativas y comenzó a sonar rápidamente en radios de Norte a Sur y a ser compartido hasta cruzar la frontera y llegar a ser escuchado en Argentina, Perú y Ecuador. Pamela, ya siendo una destacada Dj en la zona norte, propone a Clau complementar sus estilos y es así como nace “Qué es amar? - Remix” Asegurándole a su amiga: “Clau, si ser valientes es lo nuestro, sigamos en esto porque es el comienzo de algo grande...lo presiento!”. La creación de Pamela deja en evidencia su gran talento y su buen gusto por la música, no cabe duda alguna de que nuestra DJ nortina nos sorprenderá con nuevas creaciones y la veremos próximamente en los mejores escenarios.

No es la primera historia que habla sobre el poder de la música y la persecución que esta ejerce sobre las personas que pueden amarla en silencio, reprimirla, incluso negarla, pero es indiscutible para quienes han tenido la experiencia, el magnetismo que surge de quienes internamente comparten esa pasión aunque no la exterioricen…porque tal como señalan ambas hoy: “La música hagas lo que hagas, sin importar cuanto tiempo pase, siempre te encuentra…por lo que sería más fructífero evitar dar tantas vueltas y dejarte alcanzar más temprano que tarde por ella, hace más que cambiar tu vida, la completa”.

Hoy Pamela y Clau continúan sus actividades de manera paralela a la música: “Aún no hemos llegado al punto de someternos a una elección, y de tener que hacerlo, sin duda alguna, ambas coincidimos en que ya no sería difícil tomar una decisión...le haremos caso a Confucio, quien filosofando aseguró que si eliges el trabajo que amas, no tendrás que trabajar ni un día de tu vida”

Encuentro de Artistas Mujeres PACHAMAMA -2018 en Cusco-Perú.

Con la finalidad de brindar un homenaje a la madre tierra y a la vez promocionar en forma activa, la presencia de la mujer en el escenario de las artes plásticas a nivel regional y nacional e Internacional, nace este escuentro de hermandad de aristas del género femenino. La muestra colectiva, reúne un ramillete múltiple de creadoras, en promedio fueron más de 200 artistas,que participaron, procedentes de diversos lugares, virtuosas de distintas disciplinas como: Pintura en óleo, acrílico, acuarela, escultura, fotografía y danza. Hay artistas de diversas generaciones y latitudes locales, nacionales e internacionales entre ellas tenemos de Perú, Cuba, Chile, Bolivia, Argentina, Suiza y Costa Rica

Es un evento convocado por la Fundación Cultural del Banco de la Nación y en coordinación de la Srta Pamela Arredondo Miranda, Gestora Cultural, artista y restauradora, tiene el fin empoderar a la mujer y hacer una participación activa en el campo del arte.

Por quinto año consecutivo, viene realizándose este encuentro que congrega artistas nacionales e internacionales.

El I Encuentro de artistas mujeres, fue denominado “Pachamama”, que se realizo con gran éxito, el año 2014 en las instalaciones de la Galería Museo del Banco de la Nación.

El II Encuentro se denomino Pachamama “Tinkuy de la Tierra y el Cielo” “Encuentro de la tierra y el cielo” , agosto 2015, se realizo en las instalaciones de la Galería Museo del Banco de la Nación, el cual tuvo su replica en la bella ciudad de Huancayo denominada la “incontrastable”, octubre 2015 en las instalaciones de la Universidad Nacional del Centro del Perú. Posteriormente en el mes de diciembre del mismo año, se presento la muestra en el Museo y Catacumbas del Convento San Francisco de Asís en Cusco.

El III Encuentro se denomino Pachamama “Sonqoy Patatatay” “Latido del Corazón” agosto 2016, se realizo en las instalaciones de la Galería Museo del Banco de la Nación.

El IV Encuentro se denomino Pachamama “Ñan Pacha Pakarimunña” palabra quechua significa “Amanecer en el camino”, agosto de 2017, se realizo en las instalaciones de la Galería Museo del Banco de la Nación. Ese año tuvo como a invitado especial al Artista reconocido Juan de la Cruz MACHICADO, quien participo con la obra en óleo denominada “CHECACUPE”.

De igual manera, se realizo un ciclo de conferencias previo al evento denominada “I Ciclo de Conferencias “Arte, Cultura, Poder e Interculturalidad” 2017. En las instalaciones del Museo Machu Picchu- Casa Concha. Cusco- Perú.

Teniendo como ponentes a:

Dr. Donato Amado Gonzales – La Presencia en el arte de la mujer en Cusco”

Art. Saúl Ponce Valdivia – “Poder, Cultura, Dinámica y Dialogo Intercultural”

Art. José Luis Carreño Zarate – ” La Creación Artística como fuente de Conocimiento”

Y este año 2018, nuevamente, nos preparamos para rendirle culto a la Madre Tierra con una ofrenda de arte, V Encuentro de Artistas Mujeres Pachamama “Ámame/ Munarykuway/ Munita/ Eaa Nowi. Quechua, aymara, shipibo. En la ciudad de Cusco y Puno en Perú. Este año tiene como eje principal el valor de la mujer y el empoderamiento con el el lema Ámame- Munarykuway (Quechua), Munita (Aymara), Eaa Nowi (Shipibo), debido a los altos indices de feminicidios y violencia contra la mujer, es preciso buscar mecanismos y estrategias para lograr la igualdad efectiva en todos los ámbitos de la vida. Y, particularmente, impulsar una mayor participación de las mujeres en los escenarios de poder, arte, cultura, hasta lograr una participación paritaria. Pachamama 2018, reunirá artistas mujeres locales, nacionales e internacionales.

documenta 14: Learning from the South

Quinn Latimer, Editor-in-Chief of documenta 14 Publications, speaks about the South as a learning process, documenta’s public programme taking place in Athens and language as a liberating act.

Ms. Latimer, what do you mean by “South as a State of Mind” in documenta’s magazine? Is documenta 14 just centered on the North-South divide or is it going to address South-South relations as well? South as a State of Mind was founded by Marina Fokidis in Athens in 2012. Beginning in 2015, it temporarily became the documenta 14 journal, edited by myself and documenta 14 Artistic Director Adam Szymczyk. We have published three issues so far; we have one more to go. I’m sure the meaning of the title for Marina is a bit different, but I have always read it in a number of ways. One may understand it as a nod to a geopolitical site in contemporary narrations of power and what are commonly referred to as the “Global South” and the “Global North”, once called the “East” and the “West”. But it also may be read as a space for imagination, resistance and a certain kind of climate-induced subjectivity, be it radical or not. Despite exploring aspects of the entangled history of modern Greece and Germany, however, documenta 14 is not interested in embodying or furthering binaries like the North-South divide, and neither is our magazine.

For the first issue of the D14 South we decided to look at forms and figures of displacement and dispossession, and the modes of resistance found within them. For me, the crucial essay is the one by feminist political theorist Françoise Vergès. It’s a text I still think about. In it, she describes growing up amid the resistance movements on La Reunion Island, a former French colony in the Indian Ocean, and then later on in Algeria. Vergès narrates the long history of South-South relations, something often left out in hegemonic histories of center and periphery. She describes a world of exchanges between Africa and Asia – a world, as she writes, “of solidarity routes among anti-imperialist movements of the various Souths, the Southern world of music, literature, and images.” For her, Europe was geographically and culturally on the periphery. Her essay Like a Riot: The Politics of Forgetfulness, Relearning the South, and the Island of Dr. Moreau invokes Audre Lorde’s famous maxim: “The learning process is something you can incite, literally incite, like a riot.” Inspired by Françoise’s essay, we have tried, to the degree that we can, to displace the centrality of “Europe” in our thinking and in the work that we do. We did not come to Athens three years ago to make a magazine about the “South” per se and yet by being here the work changes, one’s thinking changes. Greece is the starting point in this edition of documenta. The programme connects Greek’s military dictatorship with other dictatorships worldwide (among them Chile, Argentina and Spain). Is it a counterpoint to the fact that Athens is the birthplace of democracy? What are the reasons to speak about it? The public programmes of documenta 14, called The Parliament of Bodies and ongoing in Athens since September 2016, has focused at times on the history of the Greek dictatorship – it’s true. It’s an episode that happened not so long ago (1967 to 1974) and, as with many violent periods of fascist rule across the world, it’s a history that has often been systematically suppressed by successive governments, democratic or other.

The Parliament of Bodies is held in a building in Parko Eleftherias (Freedom Park), a former nineteenth-century military quarter. Behind the Athens Municipality Art Center, which hosts documenta 14’s public programme, is the Museum of Anti-dictatorial and Democractic Resistance. Both buildings were used by the dictatorship: one as offices, one as a site for torture. The Greek Ministry of Defense still owns the buildings: both the art gallery and the museum of memory, which seems like a pretty emblematic state of institutional progression in our contemporary world. After former sites of governmental violence become cultural centers and contemporary art galleries, after former factories become our museums, what does the institution become next? This is all to say that ideas and forms of democracy and freedom have always been tied to their denial. That Athens is said to the “birthplace” or sometimes “cradle” of democracy makes it sound very natural, almost biological. There is nothing natural about it, though. We’re seeing this more clearly now, perhaps, as democracy itself – in all its undemocratic forms – seems to be shedding its skin across the West, which took so much of its democratic political imaginary and visions of white male supremacy from its elected ancestors in ancient Greece. These are all reasons to speak about it, I suppose, not in order to simply memorialise or institutionalise the past, but to think and voice how such authoritarianism continues to be enacted today. Parallel to documenta 14, the city of Athens is also presenting the Athens Biennale 2015-2017, “Omonoia” (Concordance/Agreement). One of its programmes, the Synapse sections “Rethinking Institutional Critique – A view From the South”, is also addressing the topic of the “South”. Is this event linked to documenta 14? If yes, in which sense are both art events related? I think language floats – terms migrate. And sometimes they hit the ground. Thinking through the ideas and implications of the “Global South” has been an academic and political focus for years now, which I am sure the Athens Biennale is also picking up. That Athens has had a magazine for several years called South is very likely another reference. That said, the Athens Biennale programme is not linked in any sort of collaborative way to our own. Nevertheless, the biennale’s offices are just upstairs from ours. We are breathing the same air, so to speak.

Language structures our reading of and our being in the world. Language is also a form of control. But language, untied from its empty clichés and fascist operations, can be liberating as well. It is the medium in which we think; it is often the medium in which we relate to others. I’ve been thinking about the foundational act of language – its uses and abuses and affects, as public rhetoric or private literary production. Thus the d14 publications explore language itself; they do not simply employ it in the service of various aesthetic, political, and discursive regimes. One way we’ve considered the publications of documenta 14 is as a means of reading power through resistance to it. The magazine is also a space in which the artists of documenta 14 can test out ideas, try to articulate or generate something new. Some artists have created works for the magazine that think through those they are creating for the documenta 14 exhibitions in Athens and Kassel. Likewise, documenta 14 is not primarily an exhibition with sideshows of publications and public programmes. The magazine South as a State of Mind, the public programme The Parliament of Bodies, the exhibitions in Athens and Kassel, together they make up what we know as documenta 14.
