12 PM
I overcommitted. Vegan is like not feasible. Those people with protein deficiencies? I would be one of them. Vegan replacements are apparently beans, nut butters, edamame, kale, spinach, and peas. I don’t really eat nut butters and i haven’t eaten beans in so long. Plus I read some article about vegan diets amplifying depression. I have depression, this is probably not a long-term strategy. BUT I want to prove that I have control over my body so I’m starting the 7 days thing today and then I can make a new plan.
TLDR new plan:
Breakfast: 2 pieces of fruit or a piece of fruit with oatmeal and drink tea or coffee with no sugar.
Lunch: 3 cups of a dense soup
Dinner: 900 calories on non-desert days, 600 calories on desert days
Dessert: Under 1120 calories a week, so like 3 times a week.
Rule: You can eat into your desert calories if you don’t want desert. Hover at ~1500 calories, no snacking. Try to free your mind from thinking about food.

So I just finished eating my first vegan meal. It sucked. It was gross. Idk how I’m supposed to go on like this. I made a soup that has:
Vegetable broth, potato, lentils, carrots, onions, celery, and salt.
BRUH. It smelled really good, but it tasted like water and i have a WHOLE POT of it. I realized usually when i make soup i’d use like a smoked sausage for flavor and a chicken broth as a base. I wish I could say I caved after but while I was cooking my roommate said she was going to McDonalds and offered me some nuggets. I accepted. I have no regrets because literally this meal tasted like nothing :/ I’m going through looking at meals and cookbooks and my flavor palette is simply not vegan. I think it’s safe to say i’m pivoting to the new plan. Literally eating that makes me want to go back to McDonalds and compensate for my sense of loss.
EDIT: I looked back at the recipe and apparently I forgot the lentils and the bay leaves. That is like totally insufficient.
~* more rambling from noon *~ I eat out like everyday. Vegans probably cook almost all their food.
I eat desert everyday. None of the deserts I eat are vegan.
I dont eat cheese that much. Vegans never eat cheese.
Because I eat out all of the time I rarely eat vegetables. Vegans eat tons of vegetables.
I could easily see how I could lose weight with some adjustments. I think if I stopped ordering delivery or eating out (except in group events) that would help significantly. Also I could make desert like a once a week thing, instead of everyday. The thing is I want easy solutions. So this is what I have come up with:
Excuse #1 : Breakfast food sucks/ I don’t have time for it/ waste of delicious calories
Solution #1:Fruit and Tea in the morning (if I’m really hungry or just want more food I can add on oatmeal). For people who hate oatmeal, try wheaties or frosted mini-wheats. Excuse #2: Fruits are like terrible in the winter
Solution: Grapefruit, Papaya, Kiwi, Clementines, Oranges, Pears, Pomegrantes, Apples, Banana.
Excuse #3: Everyone says eat deserts in small portions everyday but all my favorite deserts are super high calorie (cake, croissants, donuts, churros all come in at around (250 calories per the amount I eat comfortably)
Solution: Once a week won’t cut it (realistically), If i shoot for 1500 calories a day, thats 10,500 calories a week and to lose weight only 10% (1050 calories should come from desert). To me that sounds like desert 3 times a week or capped at 1050, in case i decide to really just go for it. I bumping it up to 1120 calories. This means I can eat an entire pint of my ben and jerry’s pint in a week as long as i don’t do other deserts. That’s like 11%, so not bad.
Excuse #4: I don’t like salad, it’s cold, it’s not a meal.
Solution: Soup. Like 2:1 food to broth ratio, 3 cups of soup. (Rings in at like 400 calories) Soups can definitely feel like meals because they’re warm, plus they are versatile. You can make anything a soup (including veggies) by submerging it in warm broth.
Now I think the main trip for me is going to be dinner portion sizes. I think if i eat basically nothing for breakfast (read: fruit and tea?) then basically nothing for lunch( read: soup), this means i have like ~900 calories left for dinner and dessert. YIPPEEE. The thing is though a desert splurge takes this down to like 650 which is difficult. A piece of fried chicken (a thigh) is like 300 calories O_O. that’s like 2 pieces of fried chicken and a salad. A cup of mac and cheese is also like 300.
Solution: Calorie count dinner. 900 or less on non-desert days, 600 or less on desert days.

The Cons of Following a Raw Food Diet
There are some nutritionists and doctors who don’t believe in radically transforming your diet to a raw food one. The reason being that it might not cater to the idea of a well- balanced diet.  So, is this a case of too much of a good thing? Well, precisely! A raw food diet is sometimes deficient of some of the nutrients like B12 and lowers the good cholesterol levels like HDL, too.
Also, studies have shown that people who followed a raw food diet for a longer period of time lost large amounts of body fat. Though it might sound like music to the ears of some people who are struggling with their weight, it might also mean you may become underweight.
Women may end up suffering from menstrual irregularities and some women may even stop menstruating because of their extremely low body weight.

Recipes with Raw Food
These raw food diet recipes are really simple, since they not really require any cooking. Just put in a few ingredients and you will be sorted. These two recipes can offer some variety to your diet.
1. Sauerkraut
Fermented foods are foods that undergo a process of Lacto-fermentation, in which the natural bacteria feed on the sugar and starch in the food to form lactic acid. This process helps preserve the food and creates beneficial enzymes, b-vitamins, Omega-3 fatty acids, and numerous other strains of probiotics.
Natural fermentation of foods not only helps preserve the nutrients in food, but also breaks the food down into a more digestible form. This is why fermented foods help in digestion. Sauerkraut is one such food highly beneficial for your health. It is fermented, raw and great for your health.
Ingredients
1 Medium Head of Cabbage
1-3 Tbsp.  Of sea salt
Method
Chop the cabbage. Sprinkle salt over it.
Next, knead the cabbage with your clean hands, or mash it with a potato masher or Cabbage Crusher for about 10 minutes, until there is enough liquid to cover.
Put the cabbage into a quart jar and keep pressing the cabbage below the liquid. Pour a bit of water to completely cover the cabbage.
Snap the lid shut with a coffee filter.
Keep the culture at room temperature. The temperature should be 60-70°F for at least 2 weeks or so until you get the right flavor and texture.
Once the sauerkraut is done, seal it with a tight lid on the jar and place it in a cold storage. The sauerkraut’s flavor will continue to evolve as it ages.
2. Bell Pepper and Watermelon Rainbow Salad
You can never go wrong with a salad when on a raw food diet. The veggies add the right degree of antioxidants to your diet. Modern diets are largely devoid of fiber, so a recipe like this helps provide the fiber punch to your meals. Your protein content is largely taken care of by the nuts and seeds. The best part of eating healthy is that you cannot overeat on a raw food diet, as it is packed with fiber and nutrients, which makes you feel full and satiated quickly. When you stop over indulging, you stop having weight issues or any kind of health issues.
Ingredients
1 bowl watermelon cubes
2 yellow bell peppers
1 cup onions
1 cup cucumber
1 cup tomatoes
Pomegranate Juice
2 Tbsp olive oil
A pinch of oregano
10-12 Olives
Parsley chopped
Romaine lettuce
Rocket lettuce
Flax seeds
Pistachios
Salt & pepper
Method
Pour the pomegranate juice into a bowl.
Add the salt & pepper and blend it well. Then drizzle with olive oil.
In another bowl, add the watermelon cubes, yellow bell peppers, onions, cucumber, tomatoes, and olives.
Then combine the parsley, salt, and pepper. Blend them all thoroughly. Add the lettuce leaves, flax seeds, and pistachios. Add this to the watermelon mixture. Toss it well.
Serve the salad chilled.
The raw food revolution is here to stay. With its myriad benefits, it can do wonders to your health. Just be mindful that you do not follow the diet for too long. Following the diet for a few months will definitely have convert you from a processed food addict to a raw food enthusiast.
