One week ago today. I still can’t believe the #AlltheBrightPlaces movie is out in the world. Thank you, all my lovelies, for watching and rewatching! And thank you to the incredibly talented @b.b.creates for creating this lovely beyond lovely book sculpture of the ATBP film set. And for collaborating with my wonderful husband @silent_rhino to surprise me with this personalized version, which not only includes @ellefanning and @standup4justice as Violet and Finch, but little versions of my husband and me. Absolute magic. ❤️ #repost @b.b.creates ・・・ Back in 2015 I created a book sculpture for The Boston Globe about books becoming movies. The book I sculpted was “All the Bright Places,” by @jenniferniven. Fast forward to late 2019 and the movie is finally in the making. Jennifer reposted my sculpture on Instagram. It was such an incredible compliment. Then it was followed up immediately by a message from her husband saying he had to get it as a surprise for her. 🤯 He commissioned me to restore and add to the sculpture as a Christmas gift. It was a huge moment for me as an artist and I thought it was the sweetest gift ever. He wanted to add them both in directors chairs on set. (Look closely at words on the back of the directors chairs. I wanted to honor their love and connection with words from the book. I always try to make it about the details.) We selected hair styles and outfits to create the perfect paper portrait of them. I’m so proud of how this turned out. I’m still so honored to be a part of such a sweet and thoughtful gift. I mean how cute are they - in real life and paper?! I love their love. Also, they both had really great hair to work with 😏 The movie came out on Netflix last week and I finally had a chance to watch #allthebrightplacesmovie yesterday. I cried a lot and laughed and smiled, too. Another day another paper cut... 😊✂️ ⭐VIVID Dreams⭐ by @parkinsons.art 18th-29th August 2021 ⭐⭐11am-6pm daily⭐⭐ I was commissioned by Parkinsons Art who really liked my #SMILE Series and thought it went well with communicating some of the many symptoms people living with Parkinsons Disease have to deal with, one of which is the loss of facial muscle control. I have made a series of 5 portraits, each representing one of the incredible artists taking part in Vivid Dreams. This is Cherry Vogt-Ward. Originally from the island of Barbados, she has spent the past 35 years in Zurich, Switzerland and relocated to to he homeland at the end of last year. She was diagnosed with Morbus Parkinson in 2007 and is categorised as a Young Onset Parkinson’s patient. In 2013 she volunteered at the World Parkinson Congress in Montreal, Canada which was an emotional and empowering journey but also the impetus for the birth of the Barbados Parkinson’s Trust and Support Group which became a registered charity in 2015. Later that year, she had a dream in which she was told to pick up a paintbrush and easel and start to paint. She had not had any formal training in painting, but trusted that small voice. She now gravitates to painting ceramics and furniture. Funded by the Arts Council England, 60 artists from around the world will showcase their creative talents at the Gallery @oxotowerwharf , London, and there is a virtual gallery online as well via www.parkinsons.art and there is a link in my bio.
