Le fleuve parisien prévoit d’accueillir les épreuves nautiques de l’édition 2024. Au programme : triathlon, paratriathlon et nage en eau libre, prévus au départ du pont Alexandre III. L’ambition va plus loin et promet 23 points de baignade en Île-de-France, dont trois dans la capitale, dès l’été 2025.

Une étape Obiettivo 3 avec Yvan Territo, relayeur, Laura Mahieu, nageuse handisport, Jean Claude Thievent, champion du monde sur piste aux Virtus Games, des non-voyants du Tandem Club Dijonnais : du vélo pour tous, normal, autrement, voire paranormal.

Yvan, ancien plongeur, est paraplégique depuis un accident de plongée en 2004 où il risqua sa vie pour sauver deux camarades en détresse en Mer Rouge. Le sicilien est recruté en 2019 par l’association handisport privée italienne Obiettivo3 créée par Alex Zanardi. Reconverti au paratriathlon il devient cet été champion d’Europe moyenne distance. Membre du relais parasportif qui relie Cortina à Paris, il a traversé en handbike la Côte d’Or le 27 septembre. Sur son vélo couché Carbide, conçu par la société italienne Maddiline, Yvan est intouchable en descente. En dévalant Bessey-en-Chaume, il mène la danse dans la plongée de 5 kilomètres vers Pont d’Ouche. Avec des pointes à 75 km/h, le Transalpin est tout schuss ; il distance ses compagnons de route qui recollent, un à un, avec le concours d’un ralentisseur ou d’une contrepente, aux roues du Palermitain ; ceux qui le précédaient dans la montée depuis Meursault et l’ont accueilli par un ban bourguignon au point le plus haut, reforment un gruppetto de plusieurs clubs FFVélo locaux. Yvan va avoir besoin de ces compagnons de route. Dos à la route, jambes à l’horizontale, mains au maindalier, il rencontre quelques pièges sur la véloroute, entre Crugey et Vandenesse-en-Auxois, là où la piste coupe plusieurs routes surélevées à la chaussée bombée. Avec une garde au sol du cockpit qui ne dépasse guère plus de 10 centimètres, le bas de caisse tangente et morfle. L’assistance est nécessaire pour dégager le handbike cloué au bitume. Cloué mais non touché, le pilote bénéficie d’une aide à 3 reprises. Un peu plus loin, un ourlet de bitume, déformé par une racine, laboure le fond du siège ; la coque décolle, retombe ; le coude du pilote tape la route ; Yvan envoie un juron du top 10 des insultes ritales. Touché mais pas coulé, il est ensuite méfiant dans Pouilly à l’approche de 3 coussins berlinois dans un hors parcours improvisé qui contourne des travaux de voirie d’une rue impraticable. Les derniers kilomètres jusqu’à Semur sont réalisés hors véloroute, en accord avec le staff italien. Une arrivée du tonnerre lui est réservée ; le public et les élus locaux saluent le relayeur sans frontière accompagné de 2 binômes voyants malvoyants en tandems, d’un autre handbike piloté par Laura Mahieu nageuse amputée, de Jean Claude Thievent, déficient intellectuel champion du monde sur piste aux Virtus Games 2023 et de cyclistes valides ravis d’avoir partagé une journée de vélo pas ordinaire, au-delà des différences.

Triathlon swimmers took to the Seine in competition on Thursday and Friday, but results of water quality tests showed “significant discrepancies” in the hours leading up to Saturday’s scheduled paratriathlon events, organizers said in a statement. The competition was transformed into a duathlon of just running and biking. Water safety officials are trying to determine why two testing systems used for the river produced different results. One indicated too-high levels of bacteria overnight, said Pierre-Antoine Molina, who oversees public policy for the Paris regional administration. Rainfall in recent days may have been a factor. A previous test event had to be canceled this month because heavy rain caused overflows of untreated waste in the Seine, leaving water quality below safety standards. Rainfall also hit Paris ahead of Saturday’s cancellation. Paris is spending massively on water-management projects that officials say will make pollution caused by storms less frequent. Olympics organizers remain undeterred in their mission to hold open-air swimming events along the picturesque river, viewing this month’s cancellations as a learning experience. The head of the Paris 2024 organizing committee, Tony Estanguet, said a contingency plan will be in place next year to allow swimming events to be postponed for a few days if water quality isn’t up to standard. But there’s no plan B for moving the competition. “We will remain in this extraordinary location, no matter what happens,” said Estanguet, a three-time Olympic gold medalist in canoe slalom. ‘’We want to preserve this ambition.” The plan for Olympic and Paralympic athletes to swim in the Seine dovetails with çity hall’s efforts to clean up the long-murky waterway. Paris has promised more transparency about its cleanup efforts than Rio de Janeiro, where concerns about sewage-contaminated water dogged the 2016 Olympics. This week’s triathlon takes athletes and spectators — watching for free — to some of the French capital’s most striking vistas: The swim starts from the bottom of the 19th-century Alexandre III bridge and its golden statues. The bike and run laps go along the Champs-Elysees and through some prestigious neighborhoods. João Paulo Santiago Gregorine is an amazing, 21 year old, para-swimmer from Brazil.

João was born with spina bifida myelomeningocele. This is a congenital condition which left him paralyzed from the waist down and caused some quite severe joint contractures in both his legs. He has been a full time wheelchair user for all his life...

For as long as his parents can remember, João was an extremely active child who loved to play with his friends. From a young age on, he also practiced various sports. He started off with wheelchair handball and para-triathlon, but at his 12th, he started competitive swimming...

By now, João has won over a hundred medals in swimming competitions. His most memorable victory yet was winning a gold medal in the Parapan American Games in 2017!

If everything goes well, João will represent his home country in the Paralympic Games in Tokyo this year!
