"ah, just wear it!" san whines, giving the neatly folded handkerchief to you. "our ride is not more than 10 minutes, i swear!" he makes a fuss on the driver's seat, stomping his feet which makes you panic and finally get the handkerchief in his hands. "if we're not there by ten, I'm removing this." you point at him who only had a big smile, excited as he helped you tie the cloth behind you. "i'm counting." you hear him giggle and the car starting once you have settled on your own seat, mumbling useless counting which was only going to be forgotten later on.

apparently, san had asked you out to eat with him on a great, sunny day and the location he gave you was just beside a highway, nothing but a large, random lot for parking, and the real location was a surprise.

"san, i swear to god i'm getting carsick and if you don't want me to throw up around your shiny interior, just let me see light again." you groan, head helplessly bouncing against the force the car was going. "you're so dramatic," san chuckles, and you hear and feel him press the brakes already, making you sigh in relief as you softly release the cloth in your eyes.

san watches you with delight and a big smile as it takes you a few seconds to realize where you were, and then deeply gasping as you face him. "no fucking way." you say under gritted teeth, "you can't make me go in there." you punch his arm which earns you a light groan accompanied with his light giggles, taking your arm. "come on, my family has been bugging me for months already and i really, really want you to meet them." while you were torn about being in front of san's house dressed in casual clothes, san only looks at you– and it held a lot of love, trust, and warmth. though the only thing that makes it out of your mouth was why instead of why now when I'm dressed like shit, your hands fly to your face to harshly wipe and make sure you weren't dreaming.

"because i'm more than sure of you." san responds, pulling your hands away from your face to hold. he holds warm eye contact and a few eyebrow raises to encourage you for a while until you had finally sighed to give in, nodding at him. "yes!" he exclaims, unbuckling his seatbelt in excitement and looking at you once again who had a dejected face as you prepped yourself. "y/n." he pulls you from your thoughts again, "they're going to love you just as much as i do. i love that you're going here just as you are," san pulls your neck softly to land a soft peck on your forehead which was the only thing to energize you.

it was an understatement that san's family loved you as much as he did– you even questioned why you were so hesitant about visiting in the first place. this was san's first comfort place, his home, before you. and even if it didn't turn out the way it did today, wouldn't hold you back from being san's home, and neither would you.

Xie Lian slowly paces around the edge of the park’s fountain, thinking. He’s seen just as many people here at night, due to the colored lights, but-- someone had still been murdered near here, regardless. Hmmm. "Some of these people have even been found in places where there would normally be crowds," he says, brainstorming aloud, so he can get Euntak’s input as well. It'd been lucky that he'd run into someone else who seems as enthusiastic about solving this as he is. "Do you think-- ah, could there be some kind of magic barrier, or aspect of invisibility, when they attack?" It wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility.

a personal essay on why i love Dr Romantic 2

Dr. Romantic 2 was the kdrama that found me at my darkest. You see, I ended 2019 leaving from what I once thought was my dream job. Hoping to start 2020 anew, I've been in search for some sort of inspiration and in those attempts, trying to fill that void through kdramas. I never even meant to watch DR2, even if at that time it was already trending on my personal twitter feed (also, it was the last week of cloy and i was determined to catch up to it). And I believe it was the universe itself sending to me a Viu app reccomendation and this youtube video below of Cha Eunjae and Seo Woojin meeting again at Doldam.

It wasn't even a fluffy scene for that matter (and tbh I didn't even know it was Ahn Hyoseop who was the ML, I thought it was Dr Bae from this clip i'm sorry *cries*) but I found myself intrigued with how Woojin looked at Eunjae that I decided to give this series a try.

And man, was I goner within the first five minutes. It surprised me how much I enjoyed watching this, when a medical drama wasn't my go-to genre.

As someone who hasn't watched the first season prior, it was a journey for me to discover Master Kim's personality along with Seo Woojin and Cha Eunjae. And just like the great surgeon Master Kim was, he was able to cut right through my heart saying the things I needed to hear. In a way, Master Kim helped me to stitch myself up that I found myself praying to have a mentor like him each time after finishing an episode.

I also enjoyed watching how they explored each of the characters as well. I found my younger self in Yoon Ahreum, innocent and curious, joining the Doldam team in hopes to be as accomplished and bright as the rest. I found my college self in Park Euntak in his seemingly blind faith towards Master Kim and later second guessing his decisions later in the series. I also found myself in Dr Park's legalistic views, and wondering wasn't it best to play the safe side but also secretly envious of Master Kim's bravery. I loved Nurse Oh's voice of reason. I loved how broken Seo Woojin was, and how he never let his past define his present, striving to live a good life.

But mostly, I fell in love and found myself most in Cha Eunjae and cried buckets with her. Cha Eunjae and I were similar in a lot of ways : spoiled, sheltered, would make lots of excuses and obsessing about being good enough. While Cha Eunjae was initially presented as a weak character, I liked how she didn't pity herself. She was a fast learner, picking herself up growing little by little throughout the episodes with hits and misses along the way. I loved how Cha Eunjae owned up to her own life. Technically, coming from a well-off, doctor affiliated family she could easily pull-off some strings right from ep 1 when she was sent off to Doldam Hospital. But she faced the consequences of her actions head on and allowed herself to be of service during her time there.

Just like Cha Eunjae I also had my share of situation based anxiety attacks in a weirdly ironic case as well. I understood where she came from, Cha Eunjae knew what she had to do and that she was capable, but there was so many background noise that would make her doubt and blank out the last minute. Watching Cha Eunjae grow became a vision for me to what I would like to become.

I cried with her when Master Kim told her off saying she should quit becoming a doctor, as it was a scene that hit close to home. And I cried all the more when she firmly said no when Master Kim said "If I told you to quit would you really do it?"

And of course there was the Seo Woojin and Cha Eunjae love line. I am always a fan of the slowburn trope but I believe that it is quite tricky to present a slowburn love story-- too slow and it might feel dragged on, too quick and it may lose its essense. And Ahn Hyoseop and Lee Sungkyung, with all the minimum scenes & skinships that they have, delivered it with pure magic. I loved, loved how their love story was more-than-it-meets-the-eye kind of thing. There was meaning behind the things they said, and didn't say. Their push-and-pull was satisfyingly good, that whenever Woojin makes an indirect confession I felt as breathless as Cha Eunjae was. Being deprived from the typical lovey-dovey scenes, their latter scenes then became so much sweeter especially with those little caressing Woojin did. *blushing intensifies*

Most of all, I loved how Seo Woojin wasn't some kind of hero/prince charming for Cha Eunjae and how Cha Eunjae wasn't the catalyst for Seo Woojin's character growth. Rather, Doldam hospital gave them the tools to grow, and they picked themselves on their own, with each of them occasionally offering each other support when needed to. They were truly relationship goals!

It's been over a year now simping over this kdrama (and a year since I joined kdrama stan twitter because of said drama), and I hope that we wouldn't wait too long for season 3 ❤️

tapping your fingers anxiously on the table, your lips nibbled on the straw you had been sucking frustratingly as the cup closely stuck on your nose. the blue light from your laptop continues to blare, as you stare right at it, trying to understand the words that were plastered on the document you've been working on for hours.

"ah, shit..." you crane your neck, sipping the lasts of your third coffee and settling it down as you focus once again and start to rapidly for a few seconds then blank out again. just as when your eyebrows start furrowing because of another brain meltdown, your eyes twitch at the sudden feeling of being stared at.

your eyes roam around the cafe instinctively, and it's almost met with the ones of your schoolmate you've only seen around, lee juyeon. he awkwardly shifts his eyes away from you and you found a second of entertainment, leaning back on your seat and crossing your arms as you, now, stared at him.

you see him continuously give you glances and you can't help but snort, finding it adorable how juyeon doesn't seem to keep his eyes off of you, even though he was caught already. when your phone softly vibrates, you sigh in disappointment as you gather your things, writing something on a memo and smiling at yourself.

as you walk closer to the exit and near his table, you could still see him give you quick glances and it makes you chuckle, biting the insides of your cheeks as you stop beside him. he finally lets out a small, awkward chuckle, looking at you bashfully.

"juyeon, right?" you smile, giving him the note that contained your number. "next time, just ask for my number instead of checking me out every two seconds." you nod at him, giving him a wink before finally walking out, leaving a very flustered and flushed-red juyeon inside the cafe, gulping his coffee nervously.

you can think whether he was really interested in you next time; but this time, you enjoyed being bold to your two-year happy crush who you unintentionally caught looking multiple times.

i love the chemistry between lee sungkyung and ahn hyoseop (esp ep 11-12???????)

^this two scene was adorable (sadly i couldn't find the scene i was looking for but it's when cha eunjae told seo woojin that she was concerned abt him and his reply made me turn into mush)

plus, i can't leave out how cute kim minjae is in this drama😭 his romance with yu areum is so so so adorable (and i have to admit, the first time this drama made my heart race was when park euntak "confessed" to yu areum + when he said she shouldn't be eating chickens with another person if she already made plans w/ him)

so freaking cute man i can't handle it
