Iris Van Herpen ‘ Earthrise’ Collection

For the 2021 edition of paris couture week, dutch designer Iris Van Herpen has collaborated with Parley for the Oceans to create five dresses entirely made out of upcycle marine debris.

Dicen que "el tiempo y la marea no esperan a nadie". Tampoco nosotros nos hicimos esperar. Tras el amanecer bajamos a la orilla a marcar la zona, para caracterizar cuantos residuos estuviesen en la arena. Cualquier jornada auspiciada por el #ProyectoLibera es, para nosotros, una celebración. El resultado satisfactorio. Gracias, como siempre, al grupo de voluntarios con el que contábamos. La recogida ha sido minuciosa y detallista; nos valía cualquier residuo, por ínfimo que fuera, que no perteneciera al litoral marítimo. El cómputo general de residuos costeros de Doñana. Envases: 2 kg. Papel/cartón: 1kg. Vidrio: 1kg. Farmacéuticos: 1kg. Punto limpio: 7 kg. Resto: 18 kg. Total: 30 kg menos de basuraleza. No hay que perder tiempo, tampoco la naturaleza puede esperar más para que no sean irreversibles los daños provocados en ella. Started sailing at the age of 6, 8 hours in the water almost everyday until i was about 23. Now, i need the vitamin SEA almost everyday. I sail, swim, surf, dive, anything that will make me taste the seawater, I’m down. . WHAT if one day we wont be able to do all this? What if our oceans die? The ecosystems? By 2050, 90% of the world’s coral reefs will be gone😔 . As much fun as it is, we cant ignore the fact that there are complex ocean threats and there is no magic fix. But there are simple steps you can take to make our oceans better. We need to raise awareness for the beauty and fragility of our oceans and support cause that can end their destruction. I participated in a cause by parley and i will continue to do it. We can start small, support any organisation that help protect our oceans. Educate yourself about the ocean. A little support goes a long way. It wont be better unless we take action and inspire other to do the same thing.
