Hmm, idk about this one because Lestat obvi. did not care enough about Antoinette to bother replacing her finger. And with this theory, you're essentially shifting this selfish and callous act from something Lestat does to maintain his lies into something Claudia does out of petty cruelty—thus painting Lestat in a more compassionate light by making Claudia more villainous. It's a bit of a cop-out. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Ok, I'm pulling this up because the replies got too long :)

​I'm extrapolating behaviorisms from all the books, including the later books, the knowledge Lestat had here (and that Louis and Claudia do not know about yet). They wouldn't have known that body parts could be reattached. He did.

Calling that a cop-out in a fic is a bit weird, don't you think? This isn't a meta in the sense of the word, and it cannot be either, because we haven't seen the truth about season 1 yet, and especially not "murder night" and the happenings there.

And I really don't get why that would make Claudia more "villanous" or that act as "petty cruelty" - that was her finger in a way, he gave it to her, and she took it back off Antoinette because he... cheated. (And yes, he cheated and THAT was very selfish and callous, agreed.) Claudia does that to mortals all the time. Why is this different here? Yes, she hated Antoinette, but at the same time I'd say that Antoinette didn't even deserve her consideration in her mind, outside the necessary consideration to make her plan work that is.

These vampires are vampires. They kill and mutilate aaalllll the time. Hell, shortly before the incinerator scene Louis tore off someone's jaw. Claudia used the twins, poisoning them to fool Lestat (and Louis). I don't quite get why the finger would blip differently in any of that tbh. These... people are not human anymore, and in a very real way Claudia is more vampire than Louis or Lestat combined.

And re the not caring about Antoinette... I'm not so sure tbh. Season 1 was very... let's say shaped, Louis painted her as the Mistress, the one so beautiful and alluring she pulled Lestat away from him - and then, when she is turned she suddenly has wrinkles, she is ugly in his eyes... we'll see how the whole Antoinette-arc will hold up in the long run (as I said in my other post re Antoinette this could go either way btw, if she shows up in Paris it'll definitely get worse, lol), but as with all things on this show there is more to it.

And in regards to Lestat "only doing this to maintain his lies" - really? That is why he turns her? Why he keeps going to her over decades? This is why he (supposedly) says she will fit much better with him and Louis? Because he tries to maintain his lies? I really don't think so. I think there is much, much more to it, and (we know that we have only seen half the story....) as said before, I am filling in gaps with the context I know of from the Chronicles (and Lestat did care at least a bit more about Antoine there, even if he left him behind), and the chapters dealing with 5-7 might not align with what we've seen because I'm changing it to what might have happened (and what we might get to see yet)... as voted on. The fic is tagged as such, too.

Though next time think twice before asking me to talk about something I'm interested in, because you never know when you're gonna wake up lovecraftian horrors!! :DDD you'll see what i mean when you press read more :))

So, I'll say it right now - this post is largely inspired by the second story highlight of this Instagram user (sorry, I don't know their name, only that their Instagram handle is dee_girl_metalfamilyfan), it's in Russian though, so keep that in mind

Alright, so I'll break this theory into two parts: the first one will be all about Ches, and the second will be about his potential child (spoiler: you might've seen her!)

Without any further ado, let's get to the Ches part:

1. The creators said that they're gonna explore Ches' character in the second season. Obviously, it doesn't mean anything on it's own, but just wait.

Dima: Let's talk about the second season a little. Of course, the seconds season will show development of the old characters, as well as new ones. That's in short. As you see, Ches looks a bit different here.

Alina: Yeah, we'll show a bit more about Ches at the ages of 18 to 20. His past. We'll reveal a bit more about his complex character, as much as it's possible.

(The source of the translation) Also I think they also said at one point that adult Ches will get some character development too? But that's probably a given, considering that we wouldn't see his youth if it wouldn't have affected him in the present, flashbacks without any relevance to the overall story don't sound so good

2. Not sure about this one (we don't know how much in character it was) but I can't not mention it.

Alina: Actually there was this one fanfic that I really liked. I don’t remember what it was called, but it was about Ches having a daughter, which is a cool topic. It was relatively in character and truly interesting. It’s great when people focus not just on sexual relationships of the characters, but also try to look at their development. That was a really interesting one. That’s it.

3. This one's a pretty big one, in my opinion. So, this is what they said on ArtWave '19:

Dima: Ches also has flaws.

Alina: [to Dima] Don’t spoil stuff.

Dima: His flaw is that he's very... irresponsible, let’s say.

So, maybe, just maybe, Ches does have a child but he, you know... left them? As the Instagram highlight from the beginning say: "he might be irresponsible enough to leave his child, and he's probably irresponsible enough not to use any contraception" (rephrased, not the exact quote)

4. Alright, so, the only mention of this one I can think of right now is the aforementioned Instagram highlight. The Metalfamilyfan says:

I contacted Korg/Корж, (admin of @ metal_yama [and I believe one of the organizers of the Metal Family Meetup in Moscow]) and she asked Alina on one of the meetups: "if Ches were to be a father, what kind of father would he be?"

And she said: "The kind of that would say "kid, look at that birdie over there!" an then he would run away"

Someone's words are not the perfect source, but they did tag Metal Yama and from what I know they didn't disagree with what the author of the page said. if anyone has anything to say about this (disprove or definitely prove what I said) feel free to do so in a reblog, notes, DMs, send me an anonymous ask, or in any other way you feel comfortable with

5. Ches has literally been through the same thing, and we know how important the theme of the cycle of abuse is in Metal Family (or, in this case, the cycle of neglect? Abandonment? Idk)

6. Here we can see Ches with a blonde girl. Nothing too special, probably just a one time hook up. He doesn't seem to be interested in her, and she seems to be annoyed with him.

But wait...

What is this?

Like, it doesn't even matter if there's actually a punk/rock/whatever band named MOM or not, I just think it's pretty weird to put it in this particular drawing of Ches and this random woman who is implied to have slept with him. It's not integral to Ches' character as, for example, Korol i Shut is. It's just... there. For some reason.

Alright, now, finally let's get to the second part of the theory: who is, exactly, his child?

The short answer is, according to this theory, her:

First, let me list every single instance of her appearing in canon (and by canon I mean everything made by the creators. Even with this definition of canon it's not much, I promise): The screenshot you can see above on the left (it's a screenshot from the second season and it appeared here), an instagram story posted by Alina (above, right), and two drawing with a lot of characters where you can spot the girl which I'm gonna call her PinkHair or PH for short, I'll mention them later I feel like I should mention this, comparing the sources of the images and the dates when they were posted, it's safe to assume that the screenshot in the classroom has the latest and final version of her design. The red hair most likely doesn't mean anything

1. Alright. So. we've seen Dee and PinkHair in a classroom together, so they're most likely related in some way, or at least they know each other. Their exact relationship doesn't matter here, because all that matters here is that they're related story-wise

Let's look at the first image. This is the banner of the main Metal Family channel. Ches is near Heavy (they get along quite well and I'm sure Heavy aspires to be like Ches in many ways), Dee (we can see his classmates/friends near him, they're all about his age), and we can see people related to Glam on the left side of the image (including Ches!), and Vicky's - on the right side (notice how the hell sign is also there)

Now, I'm not absolutely sure about this one, but it's still kind of weird - look at the image on the right (it's from ArtWave 2021 btw) - wouldn't it make more sense to put PinkHair near Dee? Also, Curiously enough, not only is she not close to Dee on this image, but she's also standing next to Ches.

Though this whole thing could be explained by art theory (too many small things in one corner of your drawing isn't great composition wise lol sorry PH) but I still can't quite skip this point

2. Remember the "MOM" lady? Fun fact, she has the exact same pearl earring that PinkHair has on the screenshot.

3. I'll put all similarities with her supposed parents in this point: Mother: * She's also pretty uh.. glam? for the lack of a better word? Or feminine in a traditional sense, yeah I think that's a better way to put it. Like colors they prefer to wear for example, and jewelry. Characters like that aren't common in Metal Family * She's gotta be a blonde. I can't imagine her being anything but blonde. If she manages to maintain that hair color as a brunette I'm just straight up assuming her character arc is gonna be killing God because these kind of people are capable of anything. I fear them with every fiber of my being. * I can't say for sure because of the shading, but it seems like they both have gray eyes, and she also has darker skin compared to most MF characters. Though, it's likely that Mom just applied a lot of fake tan Ches: * We know that Ches for sure has darker skin * AND grey eyes * There's also some possible personality similarities but I'm not sure if you can compare a child to a parent they've never really known in this way

That's about it, I suppose, I hope there isn't that many grammar mistakes and logically unfinished parts and whatnot in this post I forgot to edit lol x) I'm not sure how to end this post other than to remind you guys that almost all the points in this posts are inspired by the "тупая теория" highlight on the dee_girl_metalfamilyfan's Instagram page, so go check them out and subscribe, they post Dee x The Quest Girl fanart and and always credit the artists. Your tags honestly make my day! 😂 also Bridgerton is still making those numbers which makes me wonder why more Historical Romance novels aren’t being adapted 😩

It'll be interesting to see how the numbers hold up. Netflix usually seems to be pretty on it with their projections, and if they're projecting that the show will hit 400 million + hours at the end of the week and it does, it'll be over halfway to the total monthly numbers for s1's first month. Unless it experiences a pretty severe drop after the first week I would think that it would either hit or outdo what s1 did in terms of viewing hours for the first month?

We'll see. The thing with romance, especially historical romance, is that it's so insanely *feminine* in the eyes of pop culture that I feel like the bar keeps getting raised. Season 1 did crazy numbers and it's like let's see if it's a fluke. Season 2 may well also do crazy numbers and it'll be like let's see what happens with season 3.

And idk, man. I think that season 2 has the lead in from season 1 helping it out, as well as the hype from book fans for the most popular ship in the series, and the Simone Ashley hype. If I felt like the genpop was rejecting it I'd say that it may not be sustainable but genpop seems pretty into it? The audience score seems to rise with the new ratings, which is not really what s1 experienced?

I *do* think one edge s2 has is that a lot of people got curious about s1 but then passed once the word spread about the sexual assault. Knowing that this season is like... a redux, but without sexual assault probably helps.

It's just like--if every season has to be a huge hit in order to justify the *genre* being adapted, lol, we're about to hit a wall. I think there are gonna be people who loved s1 and drop off because they didn't like s2, as that always happens. There are gonna be people who loooove s2 but aren't here for Polin. You can only count on a Kate/Anthony subplot to carry that season in terms of views so much. And while s2 was undoubtedly less outwardly sexual, it's still a fuckton hotter than whatever Polin is gonna be serving, and I still think that even in the absence of sex the eroticism and feeling that sex is going to happen still propels a lot of the conversation about the show. Like. People aren't into the "it's not far enough" speech because it doesn't get their panties wet. And I just think Luke N. is being set up for failure following two objectively popular romantic hero performances. I do not think he's a RJP, and I don't think he's a JB. I don't think he has the power they have lol.

I also feel like... The people behind the show are still grappling with it being a romance (hence the numerous subplots) so maybe people still think that this isn't...? Succeeding? Because romance? Which is objectively ridiculous. I don't see a lot of people talking about how RIVETED they were by the LW plot this season.

And I've said it before and I'll say it again--I think, in part because of marketing, a lot of Bridgerton fans who've only seen the show or only read the Bridgerton books somehow think this is like... elevated... material. Everyone has something that works for them, but this is not *elevated* historical romance material. Julia Quinn writes some pretty standard historical romances. If you like Julia Quinn, there is SO much more out there for you. If you don't like Julia Quinn or want to try something different, there is SO much more out there for you.

Idk. I think that there's just still this idea that this worked because it was special and different and not because it's a pretty standard genre piece. (Plus some dumb subplots that would never be in a real historical romance, lol.)

2. what’s the basic summary of your wip? a girl discovers she’s an enhanced human after her father is murdered so she joins a secret group that is after those who killed her father and who plan kill more like her.

4. who’s your favourite character? how are they introduced? my favs are the core five lol they’re all written to be likeable. and they’re all introduced in the first three chapters.

6. what’s the biggest mistake your mc has ever made? i’m actually not sure yet, i’m not too deep in backstories yet but she’s an icon in the present

7. what/who inspired you to write? my very first work was inspired by a dream that wouldn’t leave me alone. but for this work, it was actually that taylor lautner movie where he finds out his parents aren’t his real parents and he has to go on the run with lily collins from a bad organization lol

She understood how vital Grey was here, but he was no authority figure of hers, and ever since she was little, her father taught her not to let people walk all over her. She was emotional, and she spoke her mind when she got upset. 

“Excuse me, but I saw my father killed in front of my own eyes, I was chased from my home in freaking sweatpants, shot at, picked up by strangers, shot at some more, and now I'm told I’m being targeted by some secret organization that's been out to kill me since birth! I think I'm entitled to a bit of leeway right now, don't you?”

22. what are some representations your wip has? (gender, lgbt, poc, disabilities, etc) of the 12 main characters, 6 of them are women, 9 of them are lgbtq+, 8 of them are poc, and as for disabilities--there’s a character with half-deafness, one with a prosthetic arm, and another with a prosthetic leg. also the main character has ptsd.

23. is your wip a stadnalone or part of a series? honestly, it could be a series if i got my shit together. i’ve written two endings already, one of which closes it completely, the other opens it to a sequel so we’ll see

24. which character goes through the biggest change throughout the story? def the main girl. she starts out as a regular college student and ends so strong and powerful.

25. who knows about your wip or interest in writing? do they help/support you? only my fam and a few friends know about my writing at all, but as for this book, my girl @harpermiller who i love very much lets me rant and send snippets and ask questions all the time

26. annoying habits your characters have? heidi is a know it all, kit is almost annoyingly loving, tate is real closed off and even those closest to her don’t know much about her, grey doesn’t let his emotions show which makes it hard for people to help him.

27. what’s the last three lines you wrote for your wip? with or without context. no context!

Sav supposed this was their now or never moment. She knew she loved Kit Torres--she just didn't know in what way. Sometimes it felt completely platonic, other times Kit would give her a look that grew butterflies in her stomach.

28. are any characters based off people you know in real life through looks, personality, or habits? i suppose tate is kind of like a side of me no one knows. and kit gives me grant ward vibes sometimes. but other than that, no.

29. what’s a ship that could never happen in your wip? who and why? almost anyone with grey because he’s their leader and mentor. 

30. what’s your goal word count? like 60-100k honestly i just wanna finish it lol
