Okay, I finished HSR 3.3 and here are my thoughts.

SPOILERS (of course)

The good stuff:

The animated cutscenes are very well done. Good stuff.

Everything after the boss fight. The whole segment all the way to the end was what I wanted from the game this whole time when it comes to the storytelling and dialogue. It's to the point, doesn't overexplain everything in detail, and feel more like people talking.

Music is still great. Hoyo-mix still doing their thing.

Edit: forgot to add, showing character deaths even if I think they'll probs come back. Like that last part of the patch felt like there is something at stake more than any of the previous ones and finally leave us hanging with questions. I'm finally actually excited again to see what comes next.

Another edit: Wanted to add that the one subtle thing they did great so far is the Flamereaver. Never once explained, even if it's pretty obvious from the start who he is and something's up with him. Same with Lygus. No one sits down and talk about him, he's just very suspicious and clearly up to something. But with the pathces extended for so long, these guys felt forgotten for ages.

The bad:

Dialogue somehow feels even more stilted that before (from before the boss fight though, after that it was actually pretty good)

Dan Heng is still unvoiced although he is very prominent. This is not a jab at his VA btw because he's not one of the people being an ass, he's just stuck in this situation like most others, but we're getting to the climax, so it stands out and unlike ZZZ we can't really rewatch cutscenes.

Everything that came before the boss fight inclusing 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2 could have been reduced by half for a more snappy and to the point story telling. The first part of 3.3 DRAGGED on holy shit. They feel the need to explain everything in detail and I think that's a hindrance.

Characters are not well fleshed out with exception of Phainon and Mydei imo. Most of them only have real relevance or story right on their patch. Aglaea is better than most, but they did nothing with her like until 3.3 and the good stuff's here. It's just too fast so I really just don't establish any emotional connection with them enough to leave me devastated. A lot of revelations also are tied to them, so it feels like I'm just thrown information without set up. ZZZ had this issue with 1.7 for one of the chars for me, but for HSR it's like the majority of the cast of 3.x that's like this.

The writing style shifts so much between before and after boss fight imo that I wonder if this is the change that they mention. I'm curious to see if 3.4 will be different.

I'm ill today(tonsillitis), so I just pulled out my practice novel from Docs and it was talking about the idea of [Kisegawa fronts every time when they're ill]...I don't know why, but I just think so.

I think its because I imagine Kisegawa with defensive attitude and as a caregiver of Pathces(or even Owen, but Owen is more likely to be taken care by everyone...), and she does not want to make Uendo or Patches struggle with illness when she could bare it by herself.

But Kisegawa(and Co), please don't endure alone.

The dungeon wasn't enormous. They weren't too far from the other. Words washed over, beyond them. It didn't want to attack. It didn't. But need was there. Into the webbing, the sticky pathces... it moved back again, into the corner, lowering itself. It had been seen, after all. Maybe they wouldn't notice the webs. Maybe they were smart enough to stay back. With any luck, curiousity would draw them towards the drider, so hungry for relief, the aching inside it's body. It had been forced to release into it's own webbing here before, an awful crime, when Lolth deserved every one of her young to go into a warm body...

River heard something moving and looked up since that was where the sound seemed to be coming from. They blinked curiously at what they saw and tilted their head. They hadn't seen many driders in their life but after a moment they recognized the being.

"Well you are a pretty spider." They commented while carefully trying to sidestep the web dropping down on them. They had no interest in being spider food and so were hoping that the other being wasn't so starving that they couldn't have a conversation. "Why not come down here and we can talk. I am sure we can work something out."

They didn't particularly want to attack the other being but they would if pushed to it. For now they just tried to avoid the webs. Some would catch on their large wings however and they would attempt to cut themself free with the sharp spade of their tail.

I personally think it started as just someone talking about "rotting" in bed. Probably it started as a self degradation joke because lately i noticed you can't talk about mental health without turning it in a self degradation joke because if you don't it becomes too serious and you are "ruining the mood" or whatever.

Then more people started using it because it resonated with them. It was a good term, poetic even, honestly it's concerning how many people resonated with.

But people started to use rotting when really they mean resting. Some people might actually meant that after a day of work they just can't be bothered to do any cleaning to themselves or their surroundings. But really most people thought of it as "resting".

As in "You aren't you anymore. You are a corpse, and your heavy blanket is a pathc of moss that has taken over your form. Now you aren't existing anymore. You can rest."

But the "new trend" thing really is just influencers and brands trying to ride the wave of popularity of something and just trying to make themselves more "reletable" but ofc people see right through it and it's annoying.

Another day, and another trip into town. All because the parcel hadn't been delivered. Apparently he had been out, but he virtually never left his house, more likely they simply hadn't wanted to come near the place, he could hardly blame anyone for that, far too much fire damage, the outside looked a wreck.

It had just been easier to go to the post office and get the package, and given how early the closed it meant that it was one of the rare times that he was actually in town at a normal hour. Normally he'd try and do it as late as possible.

He'd turned the corner, and almost instantly bumped into someone, causing the package to fall. "Oh I'm sorry. Are you alright?"
