some of y'all are going too far with the slur stuff atp because y'all are forgetting basic human decency and acting like people who don't want to be called slurs or who want people to use trigger tags for slurs are in the wrong. if you start saying more slurs specifically to distress them because haha dumb idiot baby can't handle the naughty words, then you're a fucking asshole. lol
trigger tags and personal boundaries aren't an attack. it allows people who are uncomfortable with slurs and people who aren't to coexist. y'all are getting so damn whiny like please step back and realize you are not pulling a power move you are just being mean

man wdk why maybe we're just pretentious and cranky right now but whenever people respond to common writing advice with "you can write whatever you want" it's like. yeah obviously. but the people who seek out writing advice and should care about it tend to be the people who need it.
not as in They're Bad but as in a large portion of people who write aspire to be published and to be published your work needs to be marketable and to be marketable you need to follow the rules, save if you deeply understand them and can break them in a manner which retains readability. we mean there's also self publishing but if you get any readers at all your reviews will suffer and as a result your sales will suffer.
there are some publications which take more experimental work but once again you need to understand the rules to break them. there's a big difference between "knowingly breaks rule for a specific purpose" and "makes a bunch of mistakes that will annoy readers at best" and it can be very easy to tell. sort of like the art style vs mistake thing. you can be aware when something is "wrong" but implement it in a way that makes sense and is cohesive with the rest of your work, and you can also just draw the thing wrong. it doesn't matter if you don't plan to do shit with your art so make as many fuck ups as you want but if you aspire to get a job with it then sorry man you're out of luck.
maybe we're just unsympathetic too wdk. cuz apparently people need reminders they can suck shit. you can suck shit 馃憤 does not change anything about writing advice though or make it less valid in the grand scheme of things.

the body acceptance movement struggles for us because it seems like most of the time, the intended goal is "people with conventionally unattractive features can still be beautiful" and not "people with conventionally unattractive features still deserve respect and the ability to live in their bodies without unwarranted advice or rude comments" and that sucks.
it just leads to "look at this person, they're fat AND beautiful!" or "look at all these models with acne! see its harmless!" ok. you show us a hot person. of course theyre hot. can you please treat us with basic respect now.
people are body positive until they see someone who is fat and ugly or has unflattering acne and then suddenly its a problem

we think one of the things that bothers us about shipcourse the most is how obsessed both sides are with involving race and real world politics into it like hey 馃挅 can you guys stop talking about southwest asia + north africa and discussing your assumptions about the real actual people who live there to make a nonsensical and unnecessary point about whatever the hell you believe

we're still losing our mind over this one vid we watched where someone got accused of being a predator because they asked teenagers what their sex ed experience was like in the context of sex ed reform. and they weren't even targeting any teenagers in specific it was a general answer-if-you-want question so nobody was being pressured to answer. they were not even being addressed
wow man 馃槶 wow
young people absolutely should have the space to share their experiences if they want to without the people opening up to hear them being called predators. there are issues within it and even issues so severe that it can cause long term negative effects (like how we experienced!) and nothing will be fixed if we put an age requirement on who is allowed to talk about it.
also, big thing, not everything related to sex is a sexual act. talking to someone about your experiences with sex ed in an informative manner is not a sexual act. sexting people, sharing nudes, etc is. big difference! and obscuring those differences is just. worsening the current groomer panic so much.
and the worst part!!! is that!!! who do you think is lecturing young people on sex ed in the first place??? adults!!! but guess what... .. . sometimes... it is not voluntary... like in our experience of not being able to dip the class unless we got parental permission... and that is a million times more concerning than voluntarily talking to someone about why that experience was troubling!

annoyed forever & always by people who ask for "more woman authors" like !! women have very consistently been in the majority for the last decade at the very least when it comes to author demographics. what you need to show us is some sort of proof that women get worse offers or less readership on average or something! because raw author demographics are very obviously not the issue!
#or at the very least maybe you could focus on demographic disparities within certain genres#or. other demographics. such as ones pertaining to race or queerness or disability or class#and honestly one thing when it comes to demographics that we feel people miss out on#is how many people in that demographic actually SUBMIT#'there are more X authors than Y authors so publishing is discriminatory towards Y authors' is inherently flawed & annoying#there could totally be something if like 80% of submissions are from women but only 55% of authors are women#thats hard data to get most likely but without it we dont really feel any reason to be alarmed over the matter of demographics#for example - there are less poor authors. this is not because publishers hates poor people#but because poor people have less free time and don't have the same resources to market#or get help like paid editors#while higher class writers have a lot of free time and resources so they have an inherent edge#thats not necessarily the fault of publishers... thats the fault of our economic system#there needs to be more context in order to make certain points. incomplete data borders on meaningless#and we're not saying that there hasn't been research or points made with full data we're saying that there are too many people who#get lazy with their activism#publishing is not fair and we need to understand why. it is not the same for every group and the issue does not always start with publisher#pedve 'pinions#sorry for putting all this shit in tha tags we realize now this prolly shoulda been main post stuff#but no time to transfer 馃構

we've been seeing a lot of people call themselves anti-dni which we don't get because the big issue is that people don't know how to use dnis correctly and not that they. exist. its basically an extension of customizing your own internet experience as much as you can.
but also its weird how we dont see many people who are critical of how people use dnis criticizing the really alarming trend of people making posts criticizing and spreading their opinions (usually misinfo) on a group of people but having those people in their dni. like hey thats fucked up, dangerous, and unproductive. and the more reach you have with that post the more fucked up it is. if you take time out of your day to say cruel or misinformed things about a group then they're allowed to refute you no matter how uncomfortable you are with them. if you're really sincerely so uncomfortable that you can't handle that then don't post about them. shrimple.
obviously this doesn't apply to oppressor groups like you can complain about racists all you want and then snipe any racist who so much as looks at you. thats a whole different thang. but if you think bi lesbians are some menace to society and make a post tryna prove it and then having bi lesbians on your dni then sorry dude but if they ignore that shit we're on their side. this applies to any fkn discourse point regardless of what side we're on. it's annoying and intellectually degrading.
in b4 "it's a vent" put it in your private discord server then or just reserve it for your friends only. not hard 馃憤

not to sound like a caricature but media reviews for stuff aimed at children or teens that focuses on stuff like "why are the characters depicted as cool and capable, they're X years old" / "where are the adults? they need an authority figure" / "the target audience's opinion doesn't matter because they're all dumb idiots" is ageist and adultist as fuck LMAO shut your ass
the last one is pretty obvious but when it comes to the first two, it is SO obvious how entitled adults feel to having THEIR perception of younger people validated in all pieces of media featuring them and how THEIR presence is necessary in everything for it to be "realistic" because younger people can't function without them etc etc etc like get over yourself

we consider ourselves a radical pro-otherkin as it relates to transspeciesism within society and we no longer use the website we put our thoughts pertaining to it into so now it's going to be y'alls issue.
pre-emptively feel free to block the tag #centikinning for our otherkin related postings and #pedve 'pinions for our general thoughtstuffs because we're going to be using those now.
