i love the way the pjo tv show emphasized how percy is singular, in that he’s already whole, already complete–not broken, not fragmented but a full person who’s already more than enough, but also: percy is singular in that he is truly and achingly unique, the other even amongst a crowd of others, that even surrounded by literal demigods there is something about him that can have people pointing at him and whispering and forcing him outside a line that demarcates their differences.

and that’s why there is something so beautiful about the thought that this singular percy will have grover and annabeth as his forever friends and companions, that he will gain the loyalty of countless demigods, that he will inspire people to fight alongside him–no longer singular in his struggles but together, but many, but plural.
