james didn't know you felt this way when he laid in your arms, fast asleep. he was a worrier, always so concerned, so agitated. but he couldn't worry like this. you preferred him asleep, peaceful. you would have him like this forever. he looks awfully pretty, too. brows unfurrowed for once in his life. all his wrinkles and creases smoothed out by slumber. you wonder how you resisted such a sight all this time. moment like this didn't exist in your world. tender moments like this, where you held someone so close. felt their proximity in such a way. his warm skin against yours, the dampness of his sweat. the dim lamp light asked the question: will it ever happen again? will it disappear the second you turn me off? will it fade? will you forget this feeling?

you instinctively pulled the covers over his arms when he shuddered. you watched him ease back into that dulcet sleep. and that's when you knew. you'd truly never be this happy again.

Still going through Perforated Heart. I really like it, but I often need to pause for a day, because no amount of fanfiction could prepare me for passages like this:

I said, “I think kielbasa is Polish not Ukrainian. What’s a vole?”

John said, “A vole is like a gerbil. Smaller. Easier to insert.”

I said, “Insert where?”

John said, “Into the lower colon. Use a tube. Put the gerbil in a rubber glove. Insert into anus. Allow small mammal to go exploring. Stimulates the prostate.”

I said, “Whose prostate?”

There's much more going on beside crazy kink talk, but believe me, it's everywhere in the book, and only gets crazier.
