ORANA 😍 // WA Marron, Geraldton wax and green tree ants; part of our aud195 pp lunch from Restaurant Orana, Adelaide (visited Feb 2020). My absolute favourite dish at Orana. Refer to the previous post for the server’s explanation on this dish. The marron was probably the best marron I’ve ever had so far - super sweet and just cooked. The green tree ants from far North Queensland were sour and provided the delicious pops of acidity. The green Geraldton wax sauce was divine. You probably remember from my stories - wiped everything cleanly with the bread. 🤤 #restaurantorana #adelaide #finedining #modernaustralian #marron #seafood #geraldtonwax #greentreeants #pfrtravels #pfrinadelaide #adelaidefoodreview #southaustralia #perthfoodreview (at Restaurant Orana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_SCOElDPI5/?igshid=104vpybcsvrh7

ADELAIDE // Dessert: HALWAH (aud15): warm semolina, nut and saffron pudding served with vanilla and cardamom ice cream; Shiryakh Combo (aud12): housemade rose & pistachio ice cream, ginger & walnut ice cream and saffron ice cream; Drinks: Rose Sharbat (aud6): traditional Afghan drink made with rose syrup and infused with basil seeds; Sour Cherry Sharbat (aud6): Traditional Afghan drink made from morello cherries from Parwana Afghan Kitchen, Torrensville. Comforting warm semolina, nut and saffron pudding served with their creamy homemade vanilla and cardamom ice cream. Thankfully the cardamom and ginger flavours wasn’t overpowering. Love the ginger & walnut ice cream and saffron ice creams most out of the three flavours. Pistachio flavour wasn’t prominent in the pistachio ice cream. Mixing the Rose Sharbat and Sour Cherry Sharbat drinks together was even nicer than on their own - the sweetness of the drinks were more balanced that way. 😜 Friendly service, delicious food - @parwana.kitchen was one of our meal highlights in Adelaide. Highly recommended. #ParwanaAfghanKitchen #Adelaide #Torrensville #Afghan #AfghanFood #sharbat #halwah #semolinapudding #dessert #icecream #shiryakh #PFRinAdelaide #PFR_ParwanaAfghanKitchen (at Parwana Afghan Kitchen) https://www.instagram.com/p/CQc3hB7DpUd/?utm_medium=tumblr

Squid, XO, Dashi; second course of the aud135 pp four courses Du Jour menu from Hentley Farm, Seppeltsfield, South Australia (visited Feb 2020). This was paired with Ginger Kombucha (not pictured). Super delicious squid noodles with house-made Chinese XO sauce, shiitake mushroom and kombu broth. The squid noodles have just been poached and sliced finely to resemble rice noodles. 🤤😍 #HentleyFarm #Seppeltsfield #southaustralia #modernaustralian #finedining #squid #noodles #PFRinAdelaide #PFRtravels #PFR_HentleyFarm (at Hentley Farm) https://www.instagram.com/p/CD_bafAD1WG/?igshid=1me5dsh9l5wcg

HENTLEY FARM 🥔🌻// Amuse bouche: Zucchini, rye, potato; part of our aud135 pp Du Jour menu from Hentley Farm, Seppeltsfield, South Australia (visited Feb 2020). This rye tart looks so much like a sunflower. 🌻😍 Per Chef David’s explanation, the rye tart has a zucchini Rogan Josh mix. They sautéed the pan with a bit of lime, smoked soy and there’s pomme purée and cracked pepper on top to finish it off. The zucchini rogan josh curry and pomme purée was delicious though the tart was quite oily - it was dripping with oil. #hentleyfarm #seppeltsfield #barossavalley #southaustralia #finedining #adelaide #adelaidefinedining #amusebouche #pommepuree #ryetart #rye #roganjosh #zucchini #curry #pfrinadelaide #pfrtravels #adelaidefoodvideo #perthfoodreview (at Hentley Farm) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBW9pLZjKaR/?igshid=18r0dz4lqgris

HENTLEY FARM 🍳🌸🌿// Amuse bouche: Quail egg, quinoa, curry spice; part of our aud135 pp Du Jour menu from Hentley Farm, Seppeltsfield, South Australia. Such a pretty and delicate amuse bouche. 😍 Per Chef David’s explanation, the quinoa crackers had been dehydrated then deep-fried back into chips. Sitting on top of that is a quail egg that’s half and half boiled so the yolk is nice and creamy. Underneath that is a curried mayo and that’s why the garnish is a curry leaf. The water droplets on the flowers are drizzled honey. #hentleyfarm #seppeltsfield #barossavalley #southaustralia #finedining #adelaide #adelaidefinedining #amusebouche #quailegg #quinoachips #honey #pfrinadelaide #perthfoodreview (at Hentley Farm) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBLhjCwDXqE/?igshid=jy21hojthrcl

STARTERS: Pakoda: spiced crispy chicken, chilli mayo, lime; aud19 from Gaja by Sashi, Adelaide that’s opened by Sashi Cheliah - winner of 2018’s Masterchef Australia (tenth season) - (visited Feb’19). Yummy, flavoursome crispy chicken went so well with the fresh lime and chilli mayo. Even the curry leaves were super crisp. #gajabysashi #adelaide #sashicheliah #masterchef #masterchefau #southeastasian #indian #pakoda #crispychicken #fried #chicken #chilli #mayo #lime #pfrinadelaide #pfrtravels #perthfoodreview (at GAJA by Sashi) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAGGr1MgOsJ/?igshid=k8fxax7qzdmh

SA PIZZA 🍕 // Salsiccia: house made pork, chilli and fennel seed sausage, wood smoked mozzarella, fior Di latte, Lardo, sliced fennel and wild fennel fronds (aud28) and Truffle & portobello mushrooms pizza (aud30); 35cm pizzas from Pizzateca, McLaren Vale, South Australia. The truffle pizza was the clear winner. So so good. 😍 Salsiccia pizza’s house made pork and sausage were flavoursome but it unfortunately had too much chilli oil dripping from the pizza base. #pizzateca #mclarenvale #adelaide #southaustralia #pizza #italian #truffle #pork #sausage #cheese #pfrinadelaide #pfrtravels #adelaidepizza #adelaidefoodreview #perthfoodreview (at Pizzateca) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_pXX8Mjon9/?igshid=1excekoig4jp

ORANA // Set buffalo milk, strawberry & eucalyptus; last course of our aud195 pp lunch at Restaurant Orana, Adelaide. Very unique dessert - the set buffalo milk had a consistency somewhat like panna cotta - melt-in-your-mouth with the fragrant Indigenous ingredients of strawberry gum and eucalyptus. Per Orana’s website, “Chef Jock Zonfrillo had fond memories of eating panna cotta with poached strawberries as a child in his native Scotland. At Orana, he’s given the recipe a distinctly Australian flavour, using strawberry gum leaves from the Atherton Tablelands which are infused with an oil and cooled, creating the vivid green emulsion in the pool of juiced strawberries that surrounds the set buffalo milk.” #restaurantorana #adelaide #southaustralia #finedining #setbuffalomilk #dessert #strawberrygum #eucalyptus #modernaustralian #pfrtravels #pfrinadelaide #adelaidefoodreview #perthfoodreview (at Restaurant Orana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_mdEK-jKIm/?igshid=1e2023zhxs6i

ORANA // Kohlrabi, quandong, lemon myrtle & dorrigo Return of the bread – with native thyme & macadamia butter; part of our aud195 pp lunch at Restaurant Orana, Adelaide (visited Feb 2020). This kohlrabi dish is one of the iconic dishes and featured on tonight’s Masterchef Australia S12 All Stars Pressure test. Such a pretty dish and the pickled kohlrabi was refreshing and delicious. The bread was crusty and chewy. #restaurantorana #adelaide #finedining #modernaustralian #jockzonfrillo #masterchefau #kohlrabi #breadandbutter #pfrinadelaide #pfrtravels #adelaidefoodreview #southaustralia #perthfoodreview (at Restaurant Orana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_PQrs0jejN/?igshid=h5rdltjhpjdd

ORANA // Two of the most delicious dishes on the aud195 pp lunch menu at Restaurant Orana, Adelaide. ‘Tongue in cheek’ roti – jerked leatherjacket cheek & lamb tongue and ‘Soup Soup’ – crocodile with Australian botanicals (pics 5&6). Salivating thinking of how good these two dishes were. Super tender leather jacket cheek and lamb tongue with the uniquely aromatic “soup soup” which smelt citrusy of Australian natives like lemon myrtle. 😍 #restaurantorana #adelaide #finedining #pfrinadelaide #tongueincheekroti #roti #lambtongue #leatherjacket #soupsoup #jockzonfrillo #modernaustralian #adelaidefoodreview #perthfoodreview (at Restaurant Orana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_NV3b4jJ_x/?igshid=djf9ss8cpwa4

ORANA // “Surf and Turf” - Toro with Davidson Plum curry & Wagyu with mountain pepper; part of our aud195 pp lunch from Restaurant Orana, Adelaide (visited Feb 2020). Swipe left for the video and enable sound on for the introduction. Both tuna and wagyu were very tender. First time trying seafood (both the tuna and prawns) that’s not thoroughly cooked - definitely tasting foods out of my comfort zone at Orana. #restaurantorana #adelaide #finedining #tuna #wagyu #skewers #pfrinadelaide #pfrtravels #southaustralia #modernaustralian #adelaidefoodreview #pfrvideo #perthfoodreview (at Restaurant Orana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_NTNhTDq2e/?igshid=wj2an3zjxddo

ORANA // Murray river cod, succulents and eucalyptus; part of our aud195 pp lunch from Restaurant Orana, Adelaide (visited Feb 2020). This was one of my favourites. The fish was perfectly cooked - deliciously tender in a yummy, creamy eucalyptus broth. One of the main reasons of visiting Orana was because they champion local Indigenous ingredients and to support the compilation of the Indigenous Food Database by the Orana Foundation. Pretty sure I wouldn’t have been able to try a lot of native Australian ingredients in a fine dining setting if I had not visited - this was what made the Orana experience unique. #restaurantorana #adelaide #finedining #pfrtravels #pfrinadelaide #southaustralia #cod #succulents #eucalyptus #adelaidefoodreview (at Restaurant Orana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_NPJHCD_jN/?igshid=1mq2yzs6xafgz
