ORANA 😍 // WA Marron, Geraldton wax and green tree ants; part of our aud195 pp lunch from Restaurant Orana, Adelaide (visited Feb 2020). My absolute favourite dish at Orana. Refer to the previous post for the server’s explanation on this dish. The marron was probably the best marron I’ve ever had so far - super sweet and just cooked. The green tree ants from far North Queensland were sour and provided the delicious pops of acidity. The green Geraldton wax sauce was divine. You probably remember from my stories - wiped everything cleanly with the bread. 🤤 #restaurantorana #adelaide #finedining #modernaustralian #marron #seafood #geraldtonwax #greentreeants #pfrtravels #pfrinadelaide #adelaidefoodreview #southaustralia #perthfoodreview (at Restaurant Orana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_SCOElDPI5/?igshid=104vpybcsvrh7

ORANA // Set buffalo milk, strawberry & eucalyptus; last course of our aud195 pp lunch at Restaurant Orana, Adelaide. Very unique dessert - the set buffalo milk had a consistency somewhat like panna cotta - melt-in-your-mouth with the fragrant Indigenous ingredients of strawberry gum and eucalyptus. Per Orana’s website, “Chef Jock Zonfrillo had fond memories of eating panna cotta with poached strawberries as a child in his native Scotland. At Orana, he’s given the recipe a distinctly Australian flavour, using strawberry gum leaves from the Atherton Tablelands which are infused with an oil and cooled, creating the vivid green emulsion in the pool of juiced strawberries that surrounds the set buffalo milk.” #restaurantorana #adelaide #southaustralia #finedining #setbuffalomilk #dessert #strawberrygum #eucalyptus #modernaustralian #pfrtravels #pfrinadelaide #adelaidefoodreview #perthfoodreview (at Restaurant Orana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_mdEK-jKIm/?igshid=1e2023zhxs6i

ORANA // Kohlrabi, quandong, lemon myrtle & dorrigo Return of the bread – with native thyme & macadamia butter; part of our aud195 pp lunch at Restaurant Orana, Adelaide (visited Feb 2020). This kohlrabi dish is one of the iconic dishes and featured on tonight’s Masterchef Australia S12 All Stars Pressure test. Such a pretty dish and the pickled kohlrabi was refreshing and delicious. The bread was crusty and chewy. #restaurantorana #adelaide #finedining #modernaustralian #jockzonfrillo #masterchefau #kohlrabi #breadandbutter #pfrinadelaide #pfrtravels #adelaidefoodreview #southaustralia #perthfoodreview (at Restaurant Orana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_PQrs0jejN/?igshid=h5rdltjhpjdd

ORANA // Two of the most delicious dishes on the aud195 pp lunch menu at Restaurant Orana, Adelaide. ‘Tongue in cheek’ roti – jerked leatherjacket cheek & lamb tongue and ‘Soup Soup’ – crocodile with Australian botanicals (pics 5&6). Salivating thinking of how good these two dishes were. Super tender leather jacket cheek and lamb tongue with the uniquely aromatic “soup soup” which smelt citrusy of Australian natives like lemon myrtle. 😍 #restaurantorana #adelaide #finedining #pfrinadelaide #tongueincheekroti #roti #lambtongue #leatherjacket #soupsoup #jockzonfrillo #modernaustralian #adelaidefoodreview #perthfoodreview (at Restaurant Orana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_NV3b4jJ_x/?igshid=djf9ss8cpwa4

ORANA // “Surf and Turf” - Toro with Davidson Plum curry & Wagyu with mountain pepper; part of our aud195 pp lunch from Restaurant Orana, Adelaide (visited Feb 2020). Swipe left for the video and enable sound on for the introduction. Both tuna and wagyu were very tender. First time trying seafood (both the tuna and prawns) that’s not thoroughly cooked - definitely tasting foods out of my comfort zone at Orana. #restaurantorana #adelaide #finedining #tuna #wagyu #skewers #pfrinadelaide #pfrtravels #southaustralia #modernaustralian #adelaidefoodreview #pfrvideo #perthfoodreview (at Restaurant Orana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_NTNhTDq2e/?igshid=wj2an3zjxddo

ORANA // Murray river cod, succulents and eucalyptus; part of our aud195 pp lunch from Restaurant Orana, Adelaide (visited Feb 2020). This was one of my favourites. The fish was perfectly cooked - deliciously tender in a yummy, creamy eucalyptus broth. One of the main reasons of visiting Orana was because they champion local Indigenous ingredients and to support the compilation of the Indigenous Food Database by the Orana Foundation. Pretty sure I wouldn’t have been able to try a lot of native Australian ingredients in a fine dining setting if I had not visited - this was what made the Orana experience unique. #restaurantorana #adelaide #finedining #pfrtravels #pfrinadelaide #southaustralia #cod #succulents #eucalyptus #adelaidefoodreview (at Restaurant Orana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_NPJHCD_jN/?igshid=1mq2yzs6xafgz

ORANA // To start: potato damper & lamb butter; macadamia & native thyme; scarlet prawn, crocodile lardo and boab; from our aud195 pp lunch from Restaurant Orana, Adelaide. (Visited Feb’20) The standout was the prawns (if you aren’t queasy having raw prawns) and macadamia milk with thyme oil. Personally not a huge fan of lamb hence didn’t really like the lamb butter. Apparently the scarlet prawns have been cooked over fire per the server’s explanation (refer to previous video) but the texture of the prawns were still very much raw (it was sweet, the prawn flesh was translucent). Felt uneasy eating the raw prawns and disappointed as we had previously advised our dietary requirements of no raw seafood or meat. Note: Their booking system uses Tock whereby a booking deposit of aud2 was taken from your credit card. This deposit should have been taken off the final bill but the restaurant had forgotten to do so on the day - I treated it as a donation to the Orana foundation. #restaurantorana #adelaide #finedining #southaustralia #pfrinadelaide #pfrtravels #adelaidefoodreview (at Restaurant Orana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_NNSW0DyUj/?igshid=1qvmuqwzxr7fx

ADELAIDE // A glimpse into the kitchen at Restaurant Orana, Adelaide - voted Australia’s Restaurant of The Year in 2019 by Good Food Guide and Australia’s Restaurant of The Year in 2018 by Gourmet Traveller amongst heaps of other accolades. I was really excited to check out this restaurant for the way it champions local Indigenous ingredients to showcase modern Australian cuisine. Had their Friday ten course lunch here (aud195 per person) three weeks ago. The restaurant is now indefinitely closed until we can all dine out safely. #restaurantorana #adelaide #finedining #kitchen #restaurantinteriors #modernaustralian #pfrinadelaide #pfrtravels #perthfoodreview (at Restaurant Orana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9_T5RgDOen/?igshid=1oov0rlou7iyx

OMG I’m dying! My handmade bowl is on the top page of award winning restaurant Orana! I want to go to eat superb chef Jock Zonfrillo’s very Australian (apparently we can eat ants ) dishes as they will open a popup restaurant in Sydney next month!
