Sunday morning motorcycle ride to the Sinagtala Resort in Orani, Bataan. This resort is located 120km northwest of Manila. The resort sits 450m above sea level overlooking the forests of Bataan. We were hosted by Arch. Nestor David and he showed us his rentals he calls Labuyo Villas. Labuyo is a small chilli pepper which is common in the area. The design is inspired by ethnic boat houses from the southern Philippines. He designed these homes to be aerodynamic against the strong winds that regularly hit the mountainside. The design funnels wind through and moves any hot air trapped inside the structure.
