You just know that he's been waiting forever to personally show that off to someone.

No I'm not crying over the ending of TOW. No, I'm not stupidly sad over Phineas Welles.

Phineas Welles is such a funny character he's just like "oh I'm just a feeble old scientist. I'm behind this impenetrable glass wall bc I'm so fragile and scared of being hurt 🥺🥺🥺" and then the Board comes to arrest him and he kills like 5 of their guys before they manage to haul him off
Obviously the glass was there to protect everyone else from him and not the other way around

*puts this here*
Phineas sat on the floor of the lab, legs fully extended in front of him forming a 'V' shape. From an observer's point of view he seemed to be fully engaged with surveying the ceiling of his living quarters when, in actuality, he couldn't quite get himself to focus on anything at all
The years of living secluded in space had left a deprivation in his internal clock that he hadn't fully realised until recently.
Really -- what were days and weeks, or even hours and years out here.
Of course the computer's internal calendar had tracked the passage of time but after a while even that had turned into another series of numbers that occasionally flickered in the background of more important matters. Codes used to organize data sets at best.
His head had started to feel light, almost wispy. A place where solid thoughts struggled to find a foothold.
Phineas shifted the mug of warm water uneasily in his hands before placing it on the floor in the space between his legs.
He knew that if he let that oncoming feeling prevail then he'd never get anything done.
He let the fingers on his left hand find the wrist of his right and habitually started to pinch it.
