ALL ABOUT THE BLOGGER
Hello, I'm Carol, a student with a passion for exploring the world whenever time permits. The upcoming collection of blog posts will delve into my reflections on 'The Ancient City of the Soul' Kyoto, Japan. I hope you'll find them enjoyable!
As an individual, I am continuously drawn to travel, seeking to immerse myself in new experiences and environments. My journey goes beyond merely visiting new places; it's about embracing diverse cultures and gaining insights into the social fabric of each destination. Through travel, I aim to expand my understanding of the world and foster personal growth.
My graduation trip with friends to Tokyo and Osaka, Japan in a vlog
Japan holds a special place in my heart, with its vibrant culture leaving a lasting impression on me. However, amidst the hustle and bustle of previous visits, I've yet to fully explore the serene beauty of Kyoto—a destination I'm eagerly anticipating for my next adventure.
In my blogs, I aim to offer a raw perspective, echoing the sentiment "real voyage of discovery consists not in seeing new places but in seeing with new eyes" (Lyer, 2000). I believe every encounter, whether joyful or challenging, enriches my understanding of the world. I cherish the opportunity to engage my senses fully and immerse myself in the wonders of each new land.

about me!

مرحبًا (hello)!
Welcome to Hubba Mama Ghanuj, a blog written for female travellers interested in Lebanon! Pictured above is myself in one of my favourite cities Lisbon, Portugal and my beautiful friends hiking in the Sapa valley, Vietnam. A lover of travel from a young age, I have been blessed to see some beautiful parts of the world, some hard to even imagine in the mundane of the everyday! For me, travel is a tool of culturing oneself to fully understand what it means to be a global citizen whilst taking oneself on a self explorative journey to find the type of person we are and what we are capable of. As Pico Lyer says, "What we find outside ourselves has to be inside ourselves for us to find it".
Over the coming weeks I will be publishing blogs about the state of Lebanon, located in the Middle East. After gaining independence in 1943, the state has rapidly introduced itself and its capital Beirut to the world as one of the bustling hubs of the Middle East. Despite facing tragedies and conflicts, Lebanon remains to carry with it a strong soul and plenty of kibbeh! My blogs will be largely written from a feminist lens to explore the women of Lebanon, their roles and the feminist movements there through the assigned topics. Though lacking in comparison to other countries, Lebanon has a rich, overlooked history of women's rights. Above is a picture of Elissa, a famed Lebanese pop diva who is outspoken on the issue of women's rights, evidently in her song "My mirror" which raises protest against domestic violence.
Much Love Habibis!

Hey Globetrotters 👋🏻 My name is Penelope and I am a travel blogger from Melbourne, Australia :)
As a person in my early twenties, travelling is important to me for reasons well put by Pico Lyer - “to lose ourselves…find ourselves…to open our hearts and eyes”. In discovering myself and making sense of the world, travelling provides an incredible platform to challenge my assumptions, understandings and complacencies - all whilst fulfilling curiosity and facilitating unmatched feelings of wonder.
This blog specifically explores the country of Egypt, prior to visiting. Whilst the richness of its history - through symbols such as the pyramids - is of great interest to me and many, these posts will further explore Egypt in the modern day and all it has to bring. I look forward to learning, understanding and investigating different aspects of Egypt as we explore the country and its offerings together!

About me
Hi! My name is Junyue Qian, and I am an enthusiastic travel blogger. This is my first time using this website. I enjoy traveling through picturesque mountain ranges, walking the streets of foreign lands, and sampling the cuisine of different places. All these can bring me happiness. According to Pico Iyer Journeys (2000), traveling is about opening your heart and eyes to the world. I agree with this and have an unlimited passion for exploring the world. And I'm willing to spread the wealth I get from traveling to everyone in the world.

As a travel blogger, I will present my adventures and explorations around the world to my readers through words and images. My blog will be a travel guide that takes you on a journey through time and space and explores the flavors and cultures of different countries. Today, I am excited to announce that we are going to start our adventure together in Italy!
Italy, as a treasure country located on the Mediterranean coast, is famous for its culture, art and cuisine. In this ancient land, we can not only observe the ancient Roman ruins but also appreciate the art treasures in the Renaissance period. Apart from this extensive historical and cultural heritage, Italy also offers breathtaking natural beauty. In addition, Italian cuisine is one of the most popular and favorite dishes in the world.

In summary, Italy is a fascinating place to visit. Whether for art lovers, nature explorers or foodies, they could get a memorable journey.
Finally, follow my blog and let's start this wonderful journey together.

I always remembered that I felt I was part of the first generation ever to be able wake up one morning and to be in Tibet or Boliva or Yemen the next day. My grandparents couldn't have imagined that. I thought, this is an opportunity I didn't want to squander.

About Me
Hi! I’m Amelia and this is my blog about travelling in Vienna. I have already been to quite a few countries and city’s around the world, so I hope that I can show my experience with travelling in this blog! Personally, I love travelling because it really broadens your mind and your concept of the world, plus there’s so much delicious food to try! I chose to create a blog about travelling in Vienna because I adore it’s artistic and intellectual legacy - from the museums to the orchestra, Vienna is packed with so many beautiful things to do and see.

To quote from Why We Travel by Pico Lyer - “We travel initially, to lose ourselves; and we travel, next, to find ourselves.”, I feel this perfectly describes the experience of travelling to Vienna - and I hope by extension, you will feel this sense of finding yourself through Guten Tag Vienna!

on the speed of life.

A friend shared an Oprah Winfrey Super Soul Sunday podcast episode. Oprah chats with Pico Lyer about his latest book, “The Art of Stillness,” in this episode. Their in-depth discussion focused on the nuances that prevent people from cultivating stillness in their lives. As Pico outlined steps we can take to master the art, he made a statement that shifted my perspective on what it truly means to live life. He said, “we’ve become accustomed to living at the speed of light, that we’ve forgotten how to live at the speed of life.” Lyer further highlighted that we, as a society, forget how to be there for ourselves and others when we forfeit stillness to drown in busyness.
Lyer’s remarks also parallel a theme in “Deep Work” by Cal Newport that reiterates “busyness has become the proxy for productivity.” We’ve continued to let this dangerous ideology filter into our lives. We don’t realize the subliminal impact. We gradually pile tasks on our to-do list, and the list becomes what we live for instead of a reference.
Busy has become a norm and has also woven itself into our definition of success and progress. Have we forced ourselves to believe that we’ll get somewhere if we keep moving forward fast enough, not realizing we’re only running in place? Have we not realized that we are the root of our exhaustion and burning out?
Life has always been about a steady pace forward. I imagine that’s how life should be. I guess the speed would parallel the cycle of seasons. Seasons never seem to rush to move ahead. They happen every year without fail. What’s unique is that we know they come and go. And as much as we, “humans,” want to rush, seasons and all activities take their time. Flowers bloom when they need to. Grass grows in its own time. Animals migrate when it’s time. All these activities take place within an assigned season.
How awful would it be to give up the solace and rest of winter to rush into spring? Or zoom past summer’s heat for the briskness and subtleness of Fall? Imagine if Fall forced summer to end before it needed to. Thank god seasons don’t think as we do.

The one thing that I have learned is that transformation comes when I'm not in charge, when I don't know what's coming next, when I can't assume I am bigger than everything around me. And the same is true in love or in moments of crisis. Suddenly, we're back in that trishaw again and we're bumping off the broad, well-lit streets; and we're reminded, really, of the first law of travel and, therefore, of life: you're only as strong as your readiness to surrender. In the end, perhaps, being human is much more important than being fully in the know.

After reading the 5 different links on the definitions of the word action, I realized that many definitions relate to the process of doing something, or getting something done. “The Process of Doing Something, especially when dealing with a problem or difficulty.” This is the definition that i think describes the word action most accordingly. The first article that I read was the community service article. The action that needs to be taken in this article is that more people need to take action with the funding of community service hours. “ It would be hardhearted and counterproductive to squeeze any more money from the already meager federal funding for public service programs that help struggling schoolchildren, veterans, the elderly and communities stricken by natural disasters” (New York Times). Action needs to be taken here because without these essential programs those in need will not be able to obtain necessities for life. The second article I read had to deal with women in Tunisia. The action taken in that article dealt with the elimination of domestic abuse and sexual harassment of women in Tunisia. The first podcast i listened to had to deal with the spirituality of each person. This was the Pico Lyer podcast. In the podcast they keep restating that we need to “rediscover” the inner world through our spirituality. I just found this one very interesting to listen to, and i think the action that needs to be taken here is that we need to find some type of meaning within ourselves to have a better life. the second podcast that I listened I listened to was the “ Music is Medicine” one. Im not really sure what type of action needs to be taken but it was cool to listen to how people were able to channel their heartbreak and loss through the music of the musician being interviewed. He lost his two year old son unexpectedly and was able to make music for those going though loss as well. The action I think that needs to be taken here is that people who are going through loss should listen to this type of music as a way of meditation to channel and deal with loss.

“Aku Dan Sepatu lusuh”
“A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step”
- Lao Tzu
“We tavel, initially, to lose ourselves, and we travell, next to find ourselve. We travel to open our hearts and eyes and learn more about the world than our newspapers will accoummodate.
- Pico Lyer
“Travel teaches tolerantion”
-Benjamin Disraeli
Perjalanan mengajarkan toleransi.
“The more I traveled, the more I realized that fear makes strangers of people who should be friends.”
- Shirley Maclaine
“The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”
- Saint Augustine
“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.
- Henry Miller
Destinasi seseorang bukanlah sebuah tempat, melainkan cara baru untuk melihat sesuatu.
“Like all great travellers, I have seen more that I remember more that I have seen.
- Benjamin Disraeli
“Don’t tell me how educated you are, tell me how much you traveled.
-Nabi Muhammad SAW

And if travel is like love, it is, in the end, mostly because it's a heightened state of awareness, in which we are mindful, receptive, undimmed by familiarity and ready to be transformed. That is why the best trips, like the best love affairs, never really end. —Pico Lyer (at Panchiao)
