Photo Editing: What It Is And Why You Need it

Photo editing is the process of taking a picture and making it look perfect. It can be as simple as adjusting the color or adding an effect, to something more complex like removing blemishes from your skin. Photo editing has become increasingly important because we all want to portray who we are on social media with our best selves.

Gone are the days where you could simply take a photo with your phone and call it good enough; people now spend hours on their phone trying to edit out every flaw they see in their selfies before posting them online!

What is Photo Editing?

Photo editing is the process of taking a picture and making it look perfect. It can be as simple as adjusting the color or adding an effect, to something more complex like removing blemishes from your skin.

If you ever want to get on social media, you're going to have to make yourself look good in photos because no one wants to see huge pimples or cellulite on their newsfeeds! Selfies are very popular now and everyone has at least 20 photos of themselves lined up ready for a filter and edit before they upload them!

How to Edit Photos on your phone?

There are so many photo editing apps available on the market today. The one which is most popular is Facetune because it has tons of different filters and retouching tools! Here's a list of some other popular ones:

Afterlight  Which also allows you to add filters, borders, stickers, etc.

VSCO  Has various preset filters that enhance your photos to look moody or grungy or vintage depending on what you're going for.

PicTapGo  This app is really cool because it lets you take any image from your camera roll and turn it into a postcard!

Instasize  Another cool editing app as it allows you to edit videos as well as still images.

How to Edit Photos in Photoshop?

If you're looking for a more advanced photo editing app, then I would suggest Photoshop. It has hundreds of tools and comes with Adobe Lightroom which allows you to add filters and adjust lighting on your images!

If you don't want to spend money on buying the full version of photoshop, then there are lots of free tutorials on youtube that teach you how to do everything from removing pimples/blemishes on skin, dark circles and bags under eyes, teeth whitening and so much more!

So if you ever need a bit of help with editing your photos check out some youtube tutorials or even buy one of those books off amazon for $5 that show you how to enhance your photos!

@atrophia-sanguinis it’s honestly just a lot of practice haha <3 and a lot of time going through pins on pinterest. a lot of pins. so many pictures. 

i also use a layout app to get the grids and use pictapgo for editing the images :)

i’ve always used PicTapGo up until my last pic with which i tried VSCO ‘cause i’d heard good things! honestly they’re both great, i’m just more familiar with PicTapGo and it’s easier for me to use so i’ll probably keep on using that one

Whether you’re looking to lighten and brighten, pop the colors, or whiten your teeth, there’s a myriad of photography apps to choose from. And you’ll probably want to use more than one to achieve the full effect of a beautiful, professional picture.

Start with Facetune. This popular app is ideal for fixing unwanted blemishes. You can smooth, whiten, and reshape your way to a retouched look. The patch tool is also great for removing anything distracting in the background (like a photobombing tourist).

Layer filters. After you’ve set your photo foundation, use filters to correct colors and set the mood you want. VSCO is most recommended by the pros – and it’s super easy to use. You can pick from dozens of preset filters or create your own. Whether you’re capturing a sunset at sea, a meal on a patio, or wildlife in their element, there’s a filter to give your image the quality you’re looking for. (Start with A6, C3, or C8 if you’re lost.) From there, you can tweak the filter and increase the exposure within the app. Increasing the exposure is a cheat to brighten your image, without professional lighting.
