Hermes, unaware that Vulcan and Mabel broke up, invited them both out to the stargazer lounge. Surely enough, as the rain poured dramatically, their relationship dirt aired its way out with everyone watching. He should've known better than to try and pretend everything was okay. That this wasn't anything to be stopped by.

Lucy's boost in confidence when she's in her bear form is worth the slightly obstructed vision. How important it is to let a child be silly.

I took down the pictures of our love and put them in a box. If you want them, take them. I have no need for the pain burned into them. The quiet day to day things. Vulcan applied for divorce and it was approved.

Seymour has passed on, but it makes room for No-mour and Surprise to take the stage and protect the Nebula home from intruders and prying neighbors.

Here's to sleeping on the couch until the youngest kids are teens and sharing enclosed space with someone who very consciously hurt him. Lucy and Grace will be teenagers before the end of the summer though, perhaps a trip to the islands to meet the ancestors would be a good escape.

“I’m scared you’ll replace me.” The End Vulcan's Voice || Mabel's Voice

"Vulcan, I wish I wasn’t like this." Mabel joined him on the couch when the evening had settled in. “I know tonight was a disaster…” He started, taking in a deep breath. "... This has become too much for me. Caleb told me everything you and him had planned."

Mabel's face contorted in shock. "I trusted you Vulcan, how can you go behind my back like that?!?"

Vulcan held up a hand as if to hold up a stop sign. He wasn't going to hear it this time. "I just need you to tell me it's not true, and all this stops. I do still trust you Mabel. But you have to look me in the eyes and promise me, you never planned to take the kids and my family's fortune to become vampires and live in the Hollow."

Mabel paused. Lost for something to say. Slowly tears poured from her eyes and she shook her head. "I can't keep pretending to be in love with you Vulcan." She took in a breath and met his eyes "There's nothing left between us that's worth hanging onto anyway. You can keep your family jewels and your kids. I know what I want and that has been the case since I was a child. I've always wanted to be a vampire, I've felt it so deep inside myself for so long, I know it's my destiny, and being tied up to your white picket dreams isn't going to stop me from achieving that."

“We were never meant to work out.” Vulcan whispered, hurt by her declaration and the spite she used to say it to him. “I won’t keep telling our kids that this is any example of love.”

“You're right, we should just break up, in fact I think we should’ve broken up years ago. I deserved so much better than you Vulcan...” That was when she paused and couldn't meet his gaze. "...but.... I can't move into the nest until Vesper and Fortune are teenagers, they have to be proven to be yours or Caleb's. You can sleep on the couch. I'll take the bed."

She got up and headed up the stairs, leaving Vulcan holding his aching heart in his hand.

"I didn't mean to embarrass you. I was just going with the flow, what the producer guy said." Mabel's voice cracked behind tearful sobs. "Mabel, we really need to talk about all this. I can't keep doing this back and forth thing. I know today has been a lot and I'm not expecting a conversation right now, but later today, when you've calmed down."

It's the weekend in Newcrest. Vulcan and Mabel had been invited to do the interview a few months prior, when things were... better between them. But since Vulcan's fight with Caleb, Mabel has been staying in the vampire's nest.

Mark Visage: "Mr. and Mrs. Nebula what a sight, it's so wonderful to have you both here with us this evening." Vulcan: "It's great to see you again, Mark. How are the kids?" Mark: "Oh they're doing just fine, and Mrs. Nebula, wonderful to finally meet you, how are you doing tonight my dear?" Mabel: "Fine, all things considered." Mark: "Oh, ho, and what might those things be Mabel?" Mabel: "Oh you know, since my boyfriend got assaulted a few days ago for absolutely no reason at all." Vulcan felt his face heat up and the camera adjusted on him. Mark: "Oh buddy, I suppose that fight is no secret anymore, aye slugger?" Vulcan swallowed: "Yeah, I suppose so." Mark: "That does bring up an interesting topic though, Vulcan, Mabel, you two do the loving lots of people thing I hear, how exactly does that work out anyway?" Mabel: "Oh it's fun, my boys are very easy to love... At least one of them is. Haha!" Mark and Mabel laughed together, Vulcan felt himself folding inward. He had never felt so publicly humiliated.

Vulcan and Bella have a chat in the bathroom while she treats his wound after the fight with Caleb.

Bella: "You got banged up pretty good." Vulcan: "Do you make it a habit of hanging around in men's bathrooms?" Bella: "Waiting to heal the wounded. Let me see." Vulcan: "It isn't horrible. A good spot where his ring got me." Bella: "Who was it?" Vulcan: "Caleb Vatore. Confirmed all my fears and kept apologizing like he wasn't in on the plan from the get." Bella: "Ah, and what fears got confirmed?" Vulcan: "That I was just a means to an ends for her. She just used me for money and to get in with vampires." Bella: "Well, now that its out in the open, it's not all that bad, right?" Vulcan: "I guess, since I've already overthought it to death." Bella: "Kind of like you saw it coming, huh?" Vulcan: "Coming to an end, yeah."

Vulcan's Voice || Caleb's Voice

Vulcan had finally had enough, the tabloids were running wild about the story. Caleb and Mabel's plan had been leaked to the presses, that Mabel intended to take the children and Vulcan's fortune in the divorce, to start anew in Forgotten Hollow with Caleb. The polyamorous dream shattered in the very worst fear. He couldn't reach Mabel, and the emotion bomb had struck him. He was enraged. And there was Caleb, reading a book in the bakery where the magazines were being sold. "Caleb Vatore!" He shouted, drawing the young vampire's attention up and immediately into a defensive stance. A block, a punch, the boys were brawling in the corner of a public cafe in San Myshuno. Vulcan tried to turn the tables, and got himself turned around in the process, Caleb swiftly and skillfully spun the blue haired man and shoved his back against the wooden bookcase. "What the actual fuck Vulcan?!?" Caleb shouted, holding Vulcan pressed against the bookcase until he calmed down. "Tell me it's not true. These tabloids they're all talking about you and Mabel and that you two are going to run away together and leave."

Caleb was stricken and released Vulcan. "She didn't tell you..." He mumbled, the realization of it all dawning on him. "...Vulcan I'm so sorry. She hasn't loved you for a long time. You were just a means to an end and then we kind of fell for each other."

Vulcan swallowed the growing lump in his throat and straightened himself up off the bookcase, walking away. Caleb took his arm to try and stop him. "Vulcan I'm sorry."

Vulcan immediately pushed Caleb back. "Don't touch me coward. You knew and you were complicit." Vulcan's words shot out with venom and he left the vampire alone with the rest of the cafe patrons staring at him.

Vulcan gets home with the kids from the Humor and Hijinks festival and put both Vesper and Brandy to bed. Grace wasn't in bed of course, since she had conquered her fear of the dark, she had been practicing her violin more often outside with the moon hanging above her. He stepped out when she was in the middle of a mournful love song and Vulcan was brought to tears. The song ringing through him and showing him very plainly that his beloved daughter was losing faith in love, because of the example he was setting forth to define it for her. His heart broke. It has to end.

Vulcan took Vesper and Brandy out to the Humor and Hijinks Festival. The vibes were immaculate until it started raining. Jokesters won.
