A Wisconsin Decorative Arts Feathursday

This week we present some decorative avian motifs form the 1948 portfolio Decorative Art in Wisconsin by Anne Kendall Foote (1910-1986) and Elaine A. G. Smedal (1922-2014), published in Madison, Wisconsin by Screen Art Company. The portfolio is a follow-up to the authors' 1946 portfolio Norwegian Design in Wisconsin, and was funded by a grant from the University of Wisconsin's Committee on the Study of American Civilization. The portfolio includes 15 original silk-screened prints with photographs and descriptions of the artifacts that the designs are drawn from.

We were delighted that bird images were included, and particularly delighted that some of them were . . . CHICKENS!!

Gemi is a Korean narrow gauge diesel. They are impossibly small, even in comparison to other narrow gauge engines. For something so tiny, though, they are incredibly clever and cunning. Some might say devious.

A several rail lines in Korea were 2’6” gauge. The Class D was supposedly the only narrow gauge diesel to ever operate on the Chosēn Railway (not to be confused with the Chosēn Government Railway), and it was a class of 1 engine. Not much is known about it, and I had to estimate what a front view would look like- because the only picture I could find was the side view on its (very sparse) wikipedia page.

i think i drew a lot this year and a Lot that im actually really happy with! i havent posted much art on any socmed before this year (and a liiiittle bit last year but not much?) but i think doing so has definitely built a lot more confidence!

if youve liked or rbed any of my art, or even just posts of mine, then thank you!! it means a lot to me, even though i try not to let numbers influence me too much.

could you tell us more about cap and lou's relationship? I think they're adorable and would like to learn more about them!

AHH thank you!!✨✨ Glad you’re interested, I could rant about them all day haha

So! Lou is a gray alien with anger issues, and plays bodyguard to his friend and former superior, John Tobin (who goes by Cap.)

Cap acts as their manager and liaison, and Lou, who does the heavy lifting, is a whip-smart strategist when calm and collected, and a proficient, belligerent fighter when he’s in more of a violent fugue state. He’s an old soul with a mob-boss mentality, that bounces off Cap’s salesman-like ways, for quick (albeit unconventional) work.

Lou sometimes holds it over Cap’s head that he treats him like his guard dog, parading him around on a pedestal or keeping him at arms length when needed, but they both genuinely care for each other. Cap knows Lou’s limits, and how to ground him, and Lou knows not to take Caps’ tactlessness personally.

Cap knows and loves to handle Lou’s extremes, (sometimes selfishly) and Lou uses Cap as a sounding board and enabler to their more outrageous wants (also selfishly.)

But this is just a little snippet of their dynamic, I’ve been drawing them for a LONG while, and I’m more than happy to draw and babble about them some more! Thanks again for asking! ✨

Neon Troupe; an introduction to a tf2/overwatch fan game

welcome to the fairly near future… of the 80s! IBM, dotmatrix, disco, and cassette tapes are all the rage. despite lasers, miracle healing, uplifting animals, and more invented; we're still using CRT monitors and everything still groooovyyyyyyy. enter the companies Outlook Resurrection Grant (ORG) and Past Nations re-Kindled (PNK), which are locked into a corporate turf war due to a petty rivalry between workers spiraling way out of control. now enter the Contractors, people of varying stripes all equally (or more so compared to the others) willing to kill and die for a paycheck; and with corporate backing of military hardware, unexplained respawning, and unexplained clones (for the sake of the tone, neither of these will be explained).

if you couldn't tell already, this is basically TF2's excuse plot but set in the 80s, which hopefully we can do something new and original with! this project is inspired by OW2 self-destructing, making me finally deciding to start conceptualizing my idea for a class-based shooter in a similar vein as rivals of aether for platform fighters (more so inspired by tf2 then overwatch) pleaaaaaaase be nice to us; not only are we but two people who haven't designed any games before, but we're also purely doing this out of fun and aren't going to super strictly balance this. even if we're able to actually develop it. also, while we won't confirm any orientations, it'll be a looooooooooot more outwardly queer then either TF2 or OW <3 if that makes you angry, well we aren't creating this for you - Ξλ
