Odyssey Odysseus was always down to be a monster if it meant he lived and got to go home to his family again. Like he is not against doing fucked up things. He leaves Diomedes to die after he asks for help, he does dishonorable things as promising Dolon "I won't hurt you~" but lets Diomedes do it, he has Palamedes killed simply because he hates him. He does not give a FUCK most of the time. Yes, he cares for his men and his people but the whole "I'd trade the world to see my son and wife" has always been a part of him.

But I do really love the aspect of Epic Odysseus CHOOSING to be a "monster" however. Especially if it's a goofy "Wait, if Penelope marries a monster, I'll just become one! We'll renew our vows, darling!" (I still adore the fact that this goofy man has WEDDING MUSIC PLAY WHEN THEY REUNITE. WHAT A SILLY GUY!)
