Found on iNat.... a fully paternless, nearly white female Platycryptus sp.

It is believed to be Platycryptus undatus, but not completely sure.

A gorgeous male tan jumping spider (platycryptus undatus) wandered onto my couch last night and posed SO nicely for me before I scooped him onto an envelope and let him back outside. Shocked at how well my shite phone camera got his face. Legend.

Male tan jumping spider (Platycryptus undatus)

Look at this absolutely gorgeous specimen I saw chilling in the house today! No idea what he was doing inside, I made sure to put him back out. Without knowing much about P. undatus, I have read that they exhibit a level of sexual dimorphism denoted by the band across their face! Females typically keep a white band, while the bands on males turn a pretty vibrant orange. You can see the gorgeous band on this male here, along with his boxing-glove pedipalps.

A head-on view of a small jumping friend! You can see her tapping her palps on the post as she moves, likely for extra sensory input. She was quite wary of me, but she was nice and allowed me to take a nice video and get a couple pictures! Tan jumpers have such fuzzy faces, unlike most other jumpers I see, and that gives them extra cuteness points in my head!

A large, beautiful (possibly gravid) Platycryptus undatus I found in my house a few years ago 🥰 she was so friendly and curious and looked right up at the camera! I took her outside to release her and fed her a small fly before she went on her way.

First Flatwell of the New Year. He's taken to using the super-high-growing clover as his hangout spot.

Milkweed got a bit of an upgrade tonight- these are her senior accommodations 🥺 It's been almost a year since I found her, and she was fully-grown then. Her grip isn't too great anymore, and she can't scale the sides of the acrylic enclosures. I lined the walls of this smaller cube with screen so she can do her exploring.

It is a bit darker in there with the walls covered, but I just got a super bright light bulb in my office, so I'll keep her in there during the day with me. Plus I want to keep an eye on her to make sure she can't get behind the screen and get stuck. The edges are hot-glued down, so .. should be fine!

Anyway, she seems fine now, snacking on some fruit flies.
