Hmm, the only AU situation I've put some thought into is that Sandayu sitcom dad shitpost.

Okay, so all five of them show up in Tokyo together with their usual case of amnesia and are like "dunno what tf is going on, but we all have the same stars on our hands, so let's stick together ig". None of them remember their names so MC2 takes it upon herself to give everyone nicknames to go by based on their features: Itsy Bitsy, Beauty (It's not narcissism if it's true!), Titan, Lanky, and [REDACTED] (Just call him R). Everything resumes the same with them going to Shinjuku, being taken into Mononobe's care, him disappearing, and Sandayu hoping in under Smoky God's employment. Problem is that they're like SUPER difficult to deal with after Mononobe left because they're hurt about being abandoned by their "dad", so he has to try really hard to worm his way in and earn their trust, resulting in shenanigans.

-Itsy outwardly seems cutesy and agreeable, but in reality is the Devil incarnate. They love attention and playing games, using their small, unassuming appearance to drag unfortunate bastards into playing with them until all their energy is drained out of them. Anyone who tries to leave them before they're okay with it, won't be shown any mercy. Absolute Hell will be unleashed upon them, which Sandayu finds out the hard way. The other four don't get sucked into their drama because they already know the trick to dealing with them. R is the most resistant to their games, but everyone knows he secretly has a soft spot for them, which is why they have matching nam- *bonked unconscious by stray sword flying through air* It's hard to tell how they feel about Mononobe because they flip between hatred and grief when he's mentioned.

-Beauty is sociable and wants to do fun teen things like hanging out with friends, sneaking out late, going on adventures, and cyberbullying minors. You can usually find her surrounded by people and being the center of attention. Also, she not-so-secretly likes seeing drama go down and will ignite it from a distance, but most people don't notice this trait and like her regardless. She ultimately ignores Sandayu's existence and attempts to engage with her, even if he's right in front of her, and insists that Mononobe will be back any day now.

-Titan is friendly, helpful, and the protective one of the group. Too helpful. He rarely shows up to class or does his work and his grades are tanking because he will drop everything and go assist someone as soon as they call for him. It's not an exaggeration. Once he recieved a call from Andvari during class, saying that he needs someone to cover a shift at his resort ASAP, and Titan immediately jumped out of the window and ran there because "Andvari needed him now and taking the stairs was a waste of time". He's actually kind and cordial with Sandayu, but he's like that with everyone. He won't show it, but he's exhausted and just wants a break. That won't happen though. Secretly, he feels responsible for Mononobe leaving since he thinks taking care of five kids on his own while working must've been too much for him and that if he proves that he can bare some of that load, Mononobe will return.

-Lanky is mopey, tired, and an airhead. He typically forgets to change into his school uniform, sleeps through class and practically everywhere else, and is always daydreaming when he's not. It's easy to drag them along on adventures and drama because he doesn't have a strong opinion on much. They have a "everyone is my pillow" mentality, which the other four don't seem to mind. Lanky is mostly indifferent towards Sandayu, but wishes he'd stop interrupting their naps. He usually doesn't talk about Mononobe, only contibuting a furrowed brow and frown, but on their off-days, he will cry over the slightest reminder of him.

-[REDACTED] doesn't like his nickname and finds it embarrassing, so he chose to shorten it to R. Nobody knows his real name besides the other four and Mononobe since every mention of it has been hidden and he will beat anyone who goes digging for it with the blunt end of his sword. Overall, he's the most normal and easiest to deal with of the group. He's mostly reserved and occasionally snarky, doesn't cause problems at school unless his "siblings" drag him into it, and he acts like any other teen. He has accepted that Mononobe is gone and doesn't cause Sandayu any grief over that specifically, but he doesn't trust him because he suspects that he has dishonest intentions in getting close to him and the others (he does). R won't show it often, but he cares deeply for the others and wants to protect them from getting burned by someone like Mononobe again.

They all love each other while Sandayu is going through it and getting his ass kicked.

What is he was on his way home after a last Christmas shopping at the street markets and ends up crossing paths with a poor frozen up cat sitting in the snow? Rule Nr. 1 with street cats, you feed them, and they follow you.🐱 So this little kitty follows him all the way home. Considering he may be greedy but not heartless, he lets the cat in, which he from now on calls "that little monster." 😌

Tadakatsu as well is pretty fond of cats so... you played yourself, you pretty dwarf you. You're now officially a cat dad 👉👉

What?! What the heck's going on! I don't remember tacking a trip to the beach! Ugh, my throat's really sore! Have been... singing the whole day?! Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with singing, but I'm just confused... And why is Lupin here?

Lupin: Sorry, I guess we better explain.

But first, we should do something about that sore throat. It's a good thing I brought some chamomile tea in a thermos.

Mr. Triton: I see. That's it. I was actually there when Mr. Jinn got sucked in. I guess he didn't notice me walking in and just looking at what he was doing on the computer.

Mr. Jinn's Voice: And that is why we knock before entering.

Mr. Triton: (looking a bit down) I know. And I'm so sorry for it. Let me make it up to you. How can I help?

There is one thing. You see that breaker panel there?

Mr. Triton: Yes. You said you were looking for them so you can finish rebooting this world of Mr. Boogeyman's.

Yes. We're hoping you can help us get to it.

Mr. Triton: (cheering up) You bet! Follow me!

You all jump back into the water and swim after Mr. Triton. In just a short time, you are at the breaker. Xolotl shakes himself dry... and then gives you a rubbing hug.

Xolotl: Here, harmono, let me dry you off. Don't want you electicuting yourself.

Lupin: (a bit embarrassed) Uh, gracias.

Wakan Tanka: (unimpressed) He maybe your brother, but watch it there.

You go to the breaker. Like before, you first press the red button, then the yellow button, then crack up the energy.

Maria: One.

Xolotl: Dos.

Hogen: Three.

Wakan Tanka: Four.

And finally, you the green button. The alarm sounds and you all jump into the water for cover as a large burst of energy comes from the breaker. It quickly passes.

Kurogane's Voice: Great job! There's only one breaker left. You turn it on, work the terminal, and you're home free.

Mr. Triton: Good work, everyone. If this were a test, I'd give you an A for that.

Maria: That's good to hear. Let's head back.

Hogen: (tired) I hope you like long swims. The ship pretty much sank in the storm.

Xolotl: I can teach you the doggy paddle.

*MUSICAL BOOM*

Hogen: (surprised) Now that's a big ship.

AHOY, ALL!

Lupin: Jormungandr, you're here!

Jormungandr: I couldn't stand it anymore. You were having a high seas adventure without me. So I invited myself to come down... And I didn't come alone.

You board the ship and said back to Candyland. You and Wakan Tonka are looking back at the cove.

Wakan Tanka: This place reminds me of the beach we went to for my birthday.

Lupin: I know... How about this, when this is all over and come back to this world, let's all visit this place again.

Wakan Tanka: I hope we do.

The both of you get close together as you sail on.

Boogeyman: (smiling happily) How charming... But I'm afraid I'm going to have to cut it short. There's another reason I came on this ship.

Lupin: What is it?

Kurogane's Voice: My computer says there's something wrong with the last breaker. We think it might be damaged. Probably because it's in someplace very cold and it probably froze.

Lupin: It is?

Boogeyman: Don't worry, we have all the stuff we need to repair it. But they're in a place that's hard to get to... Which is why I'll be joining you this time.

Wakan Tanka: That would be great, My Boogeyman.

The three of you smile in agreement as you sail on.

What's your analysis on MC's character? They're (for fun) seen as bratty, lustful, selfish and in need for attention but it seems to me that they don't want to feel the loneliness they felt after their creation and before they got summoned to Tokyo

WALL OF TEXT WARNING. Yeah, I'd personally agree with the idea that MC's entire character revolves around friends due to some kind of loneliness. I'll elaborate further in a moment though. For now I'll list certain details I noticed about them. 

-Recklessness: MC doesn't particularly seem to care about what happens to them and they'll always throw themself into danger for the sake of others. It's like they lack any self-preservation skills. 

-Insightful: I mentioned this before ofc, but I'll bring it up again. MC is lacking in general knowledge because they're an amnesiac in an unfamiliar world, but they're still smart and insightful in a different way. They're great at reading people and situations. They could see through Hermes' act in Christmas Showdown, they saw through Sandayu's act in the MQ and Kabukicho Night Festival, they pick up on Oniwaka's intentions in his CQ even when it likely wasn't apparent to players, and they consistently see through the World Representatives' bullshit and can point out exactly where they messed up in their relationships with the exiles or exactly what the exiles wanted. 

-MC's Only Interest Are Their Friends: I have mentioned this before too, but MC doesn't really have any canon or consistent interests or desires. Sure, you can occasionally pick an option stating that they can or can't cook, dance, draw, etc, but they don't stick throughout the game. The most I can think of is that MC consistently plays video games without the player's influence, but that doesn't seem like something they'll do on their own and it's more of a group activity thing. MC just does whatever their friends are doing or whatever the plot requires at the moment. Even all the school associations they're involved in such as being the baseball team's manager, being a member of the mountaineering club, or being a member of the cleaning committee is because of other characters. It's not something they'd go out of their way to do on their own. Honestly, it seems more like they're just a jack of all trades, capable of doing anything, but they don't particularly want to.

And when it comes to gifting MC won't express much interest in a specific item like most people. Of course they'll accept whatever physical item is given to them such as homemade gifts like Takemaru's and Lucifuge's Valentine Gifts or trinkets such as Andvari's ring or Chernobog's bracelet, but they won't say "I want [jewelry, books, food, video games, etc]. They'll always just say they want some kind of relationship (familial, friends, romantic) with the person asking or to spend time with whoever is asking. You can see this specific thing in Mugen Tanka's SQ as he worries over not knowing what to get MC before being informed that just spending time with him is enough for them. 

-Forgiving No Matter What: In Chapter 9, Hephaestus mentions that MC likely isn't bothered by anything done to them in previous loops due to some kind of safety mechanism, but it really goes beyond the loops. They won't even get genuinely angry at people like the World Representatives despite the bullshit they put MC through. Annoyed maybe, but genuine anger? No. Even Hermes points this out in Christmas Showdown when he questions why MC isn't mad at him for tricking everyone and he doesn't believe them even if they insist they are. It's odd because it's not like they're completely incapable of it, but their anger is over what most would consider arbitrary. 

-An Exception: Zao seems to be the only one who MC is consistently antagonistic towards regardless of the player's decisions and it makes sense when focusing on MC's traits. During Zao's event, he leaves MC behind to traverse the mountain on his own, which angers them enough for them to track him down to punch him. Zao thought he was doing something good because he was protecting them, but it's actually the ultimate slight towards them. MC values being with others above anything else, so being left behind like that is practically abandonment in their eyes.

To summarize: MC is someone who puts bonds and potential bonds above anything else, including themself. It's odd to explain, but it feels as if MC isn't even a person to me. They're just something acting like one. Of course this can be written off as a consequence of them being a blank self-insert protagonist, but I think it's completely befitting of them in regards to the narrative.

If LWs chooses to go the 4th wall break route: then you can equate MC's behavior to a video game character being puppeteered to complete a game. They don't need to require any actual substance to their character. They just need to progress the plot to win. Every friendship they develop or problem they get into is just another task to complete the game 100%. 

And it also fits in the case of my personal theory. To reiterate something I explained in another post: if the character selection process is canon in the story then the paper that shows up at the end with all of MC's information must be the papers Mononobe references in Chapter 1. It's even stated to be written in MC's handwriting. So you'd have to question why MC was even filling out those papers if they're an unwilling participant who was randomly summoned against their will. That's why I and others like to think that MC was either created for the game or volunteered for it. 

In the case that they were created for the game, then it's like they're just a program completing whatever objective they've been given. They don't need any interests, they can't get upset due to a safety mechanism like Hephaestus mentioned, and their only goal is to form relationships. That's it.

If MC volunteered to be the game's trophy then it fits in with the fact that they used to be a wyrm, the loneliest of demons and explains why they're so obsessed with relationships. Joining the game would've been the perfect opportunity to make friends, so they wouldn't be alone anymore. Various Loop Scenarios I had in mind:

The Color of Space Loop - Ryota gets possessed by the Color of Outer Space one night. No one noticed something different about Ryota except Daichi (who was in a relationship with Ryota). The entity thinks they’re the real Ryota. A very bittersweet ending happens.

The Berserker Loop - Claude found Daichi in the park first and recruits them to the Berserkers. Claude wants him to fight but Daichi shows no interest in fighting for a living and becomes business partners with Andvari. Their relationship becomes more than just business partners.

The Tycoon Loop - Licht and Melusine found Daichi first and took them in to join the Tycoons. Daichi and Licht are trying to keep their relationship a secret from the others Tycoon members.

The Outlaw Loop - Suzuku founds Daichi first and takes them in and they join the Outlaws. War against the police happens and some found family stuff.

The Daikoku Loop - Daikoku found Daichi first and becomes his guardian. They have a very intense love/hate relationship and Daichi becomes Daikoku’s student/apprentice.

The Akihabara Loop - Daichi attends Akihabara Academy. He doesn’t join the Creators but does hang out with them. Plays matchmaker with Hekate trying to get people into relationships.

The Yoyogi Loop - Daichi attends Yoyogi Academy and joins the Sumo Club. A love triangle ensues between Daichi, Yasuyori, and Ashigara

The Santa Loop - Daichi joins the Santa School, adopted by Ded, and ends being roommates with Ryota (who also attends the Santa school after he was recruited by Ded). Daichi was told to be part of the reindeer course but he wants to be a Dark Santa instead. So Yule and him have a common goal. And the Christmas event happens but this time it’s different

The Gamebreakers Loop - Daichi forms his own guild where the goal is to end the game and erase the app. Each member have their own personal goals involving the Three guilds and the Game masters. The members are Toji, Arc (who attends Shinjuku in this loop), Shinya, Furufumi, Robinson, and Tadatomo.

The Umamichi Academy Loop - Daichi attends Umamichi Academy and there Daichi eventually becomes King of the Delinquents.

The Takeminakata Loop - Daichi attends Roppongi Academy and joins their Sumo Club with Takeminakata. Licht and Tsath eventually get roped into it. Also some family drama happens with Takeminakata and Daikoku.

The Kirito Loop - Daichi meets Kirito first and they become partners in crime….until Daichi gets brutally backstabbed by Kirito out of jealousy.

Norse demigods having physical stims/ tics. Alex snapping her fingers, Magnus wringing his hands, Samirah feeling at her hijab fabric, TJ drumming on the table etc etc. Make Them Autistic Please. Have Magnus and Samirah avoid eye contact too and stuff

GHIBLI HAIR FLOOF! Especially when Magnus uses his healing powers, or when Alex is irritated

Give Magnus more plant powers seriously. Like in Encanto when Isabela grows flowers around her, and is also connected to her emotions!! I love powers like that.

Hearthstone and Blitzen physical contact lol. Grabbing each other’s arms or nudging each other n stuff hehe

Subtle but whenever Magnus is in nature like the woods or around plants they kind of bend towards him lol

More instances of casual super strength because I personally love when shows do that. Like in SU when the gems and steven do it yanno

Whenever they’re conversing with Hearthstone in a group at least one of them is also interpreting spoken language for him on the side

play with Alex’s animation style to where his movements are sometimes either smooth or angular etc. I think it would be fun :)

If I were animating Samirah I would also do it to a lesser degree, where her movements are very meticulous, calculated, and uncannily smooth at times. I would love smthn like that 😭

It isn’t really described I don’t think but the physical changes Magnus goes thru between books, where he looks more irritable and mean at first but over time softens up a bit lol.

BOAR MOTIF FOR MAGNUS. Idk how exactly to incorporate it but Freyr has an entire Golden Boar and it isn’t ever mentioned wtf!!! Hell maybe just make Gillenbursti show up looking like one of the wild boars from Mononoke Hime lol

Fierrochase hints between Alex and Magnus oh my god. Have Alex looking at Magnus when he’s not paying attention and vice versa. It’s described that he turns really red when talking to Alex sometimes but just more of that ahebfjcncksnskdn

More of Alex interacting with other characters without Magnus involved, too! I wanna see her relationships w other floor 19 ppl yanno. I want a flashback with her grandfather! I wanna see ADRIAN!!!!!! This also applied to Samirah bc I wanna see her being besties with the other Valkyries bc it was mentioned like just once or twice I think and I wanna meet Bibi and Jid!

Magnus being gay as fuck for Amir and other guys because that was so funny. He’s so queer I love him.

I know we had like one scene of Magnus using his his Intimidation stat while talking to Ran and Andvari and his Bullshitting when talking to Aegir but I’d love to see him use his people skills more because it’s fucking hilarious when he has to. You know that scene in mob psycho when teru has to use his bully persona against Claw? Yeah, that lmao.

Heavens Secret > Mimi, then Malbonte : essentially i went w Mimi bc i loved her design (who doesn't) but while her badass independent attitude is charming u see there's sth soft and vulnerable in her and i found her route very satisfying,, her love of plays, relationship with her father (rip btw ;-;) is just so precious... loved how she gets jealous and angry and won't let the mc walk all over her,, eventually I went with Malbonte bc he reminded me of another li I loved from another (now dead) app... that I didn't love tbh, I love an against the system character but I guess his 'love' wasn't enough for me... well my character. I love his backstory though and he is a very interesting character

Sails in the Fog > Chris Chris Chris... and Manta : so I played this story twice n each time I couldn't pick anyone but Chris (and not only bc I headcanon her as a lesbian and didn't want men to hit on her 🤭) she is very brave, she is beautiful, she is good with knives ~ what more could a girl want! Seriously through I think she s my favourite in the whole app with her bashfulness in emotional moments, protectiveness and fun loving personality. She has a bleak upbringing - doesn't let it bring her down, knows what she wants... yes she's very young (18?) and you feel this restless energy, but it doesn't feel sexualised,, in my story she kept disguising as a guy and they lived that way which I felt was the most respectful option like she doesn't need ball gowns to be a woman,,, and obviously in that time it'd be more comfortable if they went around as a man and woman instead of 2 women... Manta is just too mysterious I couldn't not pick his scenes but I never went w becoming his 'slave' route... the thing between them was just a brief intense experience nothing more. He s interesting

Path of the Valkyrie > Liod : y'all if u know me u know I played this book more than anything so I romanced all the characters. Liod supremacy fr. I love her I think she s so so interesting and different than other characters like her --- which is tall and sorta likes fighting, strong, you know the type. She'd usually be weirdly dominant and aggressive (well she is aggressive but not like that) a badly written wlw subversion of this big brute barbarian li.... But no she s anything but that. Liod is really thoughtful, she s smart, she s not afraid of asking for help, while she s protective of the mc she also teaches her how to fight and supports her. She's really loving and in moments she becomes vulnerable its clear to see she cares a lot for the mc u see this w/o anyone clearly saying those 3 words I call it good writing. They don't need to be constantly outwit each other w the mc tbh I'm not fond of that constantly bickering couple trope so I love the loving calm understanding these 2 have going on. Now I also really love Andvari he is very different too like with his delicate build or polite speech,,, honestly wish I could do both their routes

Theodora > Friedrich or Yoke : man i was really set on being a second mommy to Bruno and suddenly this shy german soldier got my attention... mostly i kind of related to him for his personality, interests 'wanting to feel safe and cared for by his so' and aversion to conflicts... He might be one of the top 5 characters i relate to rn.... ~ no but rlly i loved how he was trying to help that kid, trying to make up for the fact he's with the invading force and how he so obviously doesnt want to be there... unless he s like a spy which is a theory of mine... Doesnt help that i have a thing for blond men too.. Still its too early to say more. With Yoke i kind of loved the single mom representation? like some people have kids they still find love w others, its a thing. How she stands behind her decisions — during ww1 nonetheless! She might not be very flashy rn but i find her bravery and refusal to get shy her life and choices such as not taking very dangerous jobs bc she s the only parent her son has - very attractive. She s lovely.

Kali Call of Darkness > Ratan : im not gonna lie the first time i saw him i was like omg please be a love interest 🥺 He is one beautiful man. He is charming. He is definitely keeping secrets. Probably the dangerous kind. But man i cant help love him. The sensual way he speaks during the diamond scenes, his politeness and the way he urges the mc to be bolder w/o overstepping boundaries, and reminds her of her worth and significance and strength as a woman is just 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 very beautiful... Something I never saw before. I love how they are both surprised at this intense cinnection they got (which i hope is a sign of something something 👀) He explains everything so delicately i find his dialogues to be one of best (perhaps #1 for me rn) in the whole app.

Arcanum > Liam : i kinda lost interest in this book but Liam is still a fave,,, kinda lost my feelings tho 🤷🏽‍♀️ so my professional opinion abt Liam is that he's pretty af and i wanna brush his hair
