The discourse about Sarah J Maas being called a Zionist is giving witch hunt vibes at this point. Nothing I've seen has been conclusive at all. Just because she's a Jewish woman who went on birthright doesn't mean you should loudly denounce her as supporting genocide.
I am a Jewish woman who is pro-Palestine — so, not a Zionist — but who loves her Jewish diaspora culture. I have anti-zionist and non-zionist Jewish friends who went on Birthright because it's a free trip abroad. I know Jewish people who are staunch Israel supporters and I have Jewish friends going to pro-Palestine protests. Jews are not all one thing, and in fact it's ingrained in our culture that we have NEVER been one thing. There are Jews of all races, of all levels of religious belief, across the political and socioeconomic spectrum, scattered across the world.
If I were a semi-public figure (I say semi because Sarah has been clear that she is not the one posting on her public accounts and she doesn't have much interaction with fans outside of tours) people would probably have loud assumptions about me being a Zionist because I am publicly Jewish, I was a Jewish Studies minor in college, and I used to work at a synagogue. Guess what? I'm not a Zionist. I donate to UNWRA monthly, I do my clicks for Palestine, and I do my best to support with what I have. As a multi-disabled person that's all I can handle right now. If I were a semi-public figure I don't know if I would feel comfortable posting anything publicly either, because people are vicious and terrifying creatures. Sarah has a husband and child. She had gotten threats about fucking ship wars. This is so much more intense than ship wars.
Making these loud assumptions and calling for boycotting SJM, commenting on her social posts even though she isn't the one reading those comments — this is what antisemitism looks like. I know those of you who are angry at Sarah won't want to hear that, or will say that 'everything is antisemitic now' — which is a refrain that should raise red flags since it's the same argument other people use about transphobia, homophobia, racism, etc. You're the good guys, you support Palestine and you're anti-genocide and so on. But using stereotypes about an ethnic group to make assumptions and harass an individual of that ethnic group is not a good look even if you're convinced you're doing it for a good reason. Take that energy and put it toward spreading awareness, contacting politicians, attending protests, maybe even sharing messages from public figures who have posted publicly.
I understand that a lot of non-Jews (and a small number of Jews) are saying that it "has nothing to do" with Sarah being Jewish, it's just that she hasn't "used her platform." I implore you to consider why you are seeing and sharing such anger toward this one (fairly private) Jewish woman and not toward other prominent authors, especially those who are more active online, who have also not spoken out. Do some soul-searching and many of you may find that because Sarah is Jewish, you feel that she owes you a public stance more than other people. Because she is Jewish you feel confident enough to make an assumption about her views and post publicly about these assumptions. That is antisemitism at work. That is why this feels like a witch hunt to me, and why it is upsetting to watch.
As a reminder, I am pro-Palestine. I am not posting this to defend anyone. I am posting this to remind everyone that Jews are not all Zionists. Jews are not all one thing, ever. And deciding you get to hand down judgement on a Jewish person who has not shared their views publicly is antisemitism. It is deciding that you can assume negative things about Jewish people from afar. It is deciding that some antisemitism is actually okay — good, even, if you think it's warranted. I understand that people have other qualms with her writing, but those are not tied to her Jewishness, they're tied to her doing things like using the name Illyria and Illyrians for her ACOTAR series, etc, which is the kind of thing other fantasy authors have done over the years. Doesn't make it good or right but it certainly doesn't have anything to do with Palestine or Zionism.
If you disagree with me, please do not send hatred into my inbox. I am asking you to interact with this post thoughtfully. If your disagreement is going to be an explanation of how Jewish people owe the world every ounce of our energy, health, safety and lives, please step away and take a breath. I do not share your opinion. I have great admiration for those risking life and limb, risking jobs, risking arrest, to support Palestine. However, not everyone should be *required* to do all of those things, especially if you're disproportionately expecting those larger actions from Jews, thinking we "owe" it to the world.
Also, I want to be clear: This is not really about whether Sarah is a Zionist. It's about the fact that we don't know, and you cannot pretend to know. Most of the arguments I'm seeing are making a lot of assumptions, and that is the part that makes me uncomfortable.
If Sarah ends up being a Zionist, I still stand by this post, because it isn't about defending Sarah, it's about my hurt and disappointment in seeing people make assumptions rooted in antisemitism, assuming someone's views based on Jewishness and little else.

@ ky why you unfollowed?
[*] please remember you can still send asks if you wish even if we are not mutuals as long as you're not minor not racist not pedo in both ooc & ic.
i don't have to explain to each one why I unfollowed but here's a list of possible reasons you pick what makes you happy:
[x] i changed my rules. i used to be fine when people tag some gross content but not anymore. due bad experience with some i'll just respectfully soft block so we both unfollow each other. if you still wanna follow my blog feel free it's just some content i'd like not to see on my dash n im tired following up with each blog gross list tags.
[x] i hate any type of including a minor/teen in a sexual content.. even if they are not in a sexual content i fukin' hate teen muses anyway. call me a hater i just don't wanna see them.
[x] im strongly against people writing characters that are racist pedophiles homophobes etc etc.. your character being a survivor of such stuff in their back story is fine.. but your character committing such shit in rp is nope for me.
[x] I lose interest in our interactions. When people lose interest to write with me I rather they unfollow me than force themselves to write with me just because we're old mutual. so when I feel that you or me lose the interest to interact i'll just respectfully unfollow or block/unblock. it's not your job to entertain me and it's not my job to entertain you so if one of us is not having fun it's not worth it.
[x] your replies are weird to me. honestly my writing is so simple it's even trash but at least i try to make my character's actions /words clear for you to interact with them. some people's replies are so unrelated to what my muse said or did like as if they're answering another thread. im not saying im a good writer nope the opposite i just don't understand your writing sometimes and i'll save us both the awkwardness if that is repeated in few threads i'll just unfollow.
[x] you don't give me much to work with. rp is like catch ball. you have to throw and receive. I cant keep throwing the ball at you every time and your character is too passive in their response. so unless it's an ending of a thread your character gotta do /say something for my character to react otherwise your character can stay in their own world and i'll unfollow lol.
[x] ooc drama/ demanding replies / crossing ooc boundaries / talkin' shit about another mun i rp with.. etc im not a good person im trash in both person and in my writing. i enjoy writing though and i wanna be respectful and chill with people but some people are not chill.. i wont keep up with that. I'll unfollow if I feel uncomfortable with you. (people who are allowed to personally harass me are tala and sila lolol) anyone else you have to respect some boundaries with me.
[x] Thoughts about quitting rp. instead of deleting the blog i decided to keep it for the sake of the very few people who i love writing with. but will keep inbox open for non-mutual asks if they want to.
that being said I hope you find your reasons within the list if you been so obsessed of knowing why. again i aint a good person im trash but i try to have fun.
After this post im starting a new page and leaving this topic behind me. don't come ask me again about it i wont hesitate to block.
please keep eye on my rules before interacting.
with all love and respect ky

hey, what's up? :)
im gonna be fully honest for the fact that i have absolutely no more interest in writing for genshin anymore. i still like my favorite characters, but i don't really see the point of writing for them either. i just don't get any interactions on this blog and it's completely dead now— for the week i have been inactive i have gotten two asks: one that was asking for a matchup (my matchups are closed.. 😐) and another asking me to promote their shop.
im not asking for everyone who passes by to go to my inbox to force themself to say hi or something, and i especially mean this towards moots! the last time i made a post about getting no interactions a lot of sweet ppl and moots sent a sweet message/an apology, but please do not feel like you have to talk to me/apologize because we are mutuals! i just mean in general that my blog has no interactions: no asks, no anons coming back, just requests and likes in my notifications. a reader might think that im being ungrateful, and yeah, maybe i am, but as a writer i just feel like my blog is being loved but the blog owner (me) is not.
for example, out of the 87 asks in my inbox, 13 aren't requests or asking for a matchup. that means the remaining 74 are rqs, matchups, or something else random related to writing something for them. i don't hate that at all, but at a point when that's the only thing i'm getting in my inbox then that's when i'm doubting continuing writing at all.
i tried many ways to get interaction. i tried posting more, but that only got likes. i tried reblogging ask games, but if it was an ask game for myself, only some moots would send something in. however, if it was a prompt ask game, my askbox gets filled. i tried replying quickly to every ask and comment and tried to post brainrots every so often. i tried to say good night every night.
this blog is completely dead and i'm pretty much tired of it. i plan to archive this blog and start over completely with a new jjk one, or just delete all of my works/this blog and move to ao3. i'm not saying that ao3 has more interaction (because trust me when i say that the hits and comments ratio sucks), but this blog isn't really my happy place anymore.
thank you to everyone/all the mutuals i have made on the way, you guys were pretty much the only thing that made me keep writing because of our interactions with each other. im sorry if i disappointed anyone by not writing part twos of things and/or et cetera, but thank you for helping me hit 2.7k before the end. if at some point my writings made you smile, cheer up, or even feel just a little bit better, then im glad. at some point (if i don't end up deactivating) i might come back, but for now, goodbye :-)

Sketchy Saturday FAQ : Last Revised on March 11th 2021
Hey there, friends, followers, and fans! This here is an FAQ I'll reblog before events to help keep everyone on the same page. I'll add to this FAQ as new things... well, become Frequently Asked Questions! Click through if you wanna know what this whole Sketchy Saturday thing is about... or, if you're already familiar, skim through anyway for giggles. I won't be mad XD
ONWARDS!
?What IS Sketchy Saturday?
Sketchy Saturday is a weekly event I host for the Fallout fandom, wherein I open my inbox for art requests from the community at large on Thursday Nights, and do as many of those requests as I can on Friday and Saturday. There’s no rules for whom can participate. You don’t have to be following me, I don’t have to know who you are. All you need to do to participate is follow the posted guidelines in the weekly prompt post for sending a valid request.
That’s cool! But won’t you get swamped by everyone?
I appreciate your concern! I actually keep a spreadsheet with a record of everyone who has participated in the event, and have a scoring system to dictate the priority of participants. New participants always get first priority, it is NOT first come, first served. In this way, I’m protected from overwhelm by a mathematical system that sorts everyone into an order, weighting my personal friends and returning requesters to the bottom. Also, I have a hard cut-off time on Saturday night to prevent overworking. I promise, I’m not gonna kill myself trying to get to everyone. You don’t need to worry about the artist. I has a system. :3
I wanna see you draw my OC! Is that okay?
100%! All characters are welcome to be requested. Canon, OC-- so long as it’s Fallout, it’s fair game! THAT SAID! If you send in an OC to be drawn, please send reference material as to what they look like to me via THE TUMBLR IM. NOT. THE. ASKBOX. It makes the asks look messy, and I like to keep my blog tidy <3
I’M HYPE! When’s the next Sketchy Saturday??
WOO! You can always check my pinned post to see when the next Sketchy Saturday is. When the request window is open, I’ll also have the prompt linked there for easier navigation :D
Why do you use prompts instead of just letting people request anything?
Prompts let me keep control of the requests. I'm not a content machine, I'm a human being, and I don't take kindly to other people telling me what to do... so I create a space of possibility with the prompt so requests can be made without anyone pissing me off or making me feel used.
Do you do commissions?
NOPE. But I can recommend a number of artist friends who do at any given time, so if you're hunting for artists in the Fallout sphere, feel free to poke me anyway. I can point you in the right direction of whichever friends have open slots <3
Why don't you do commissions?
I have temper tantrums when people tell me what to draw, even if I volunteered for it, and then I procrastinate out of spite cause I'm already upset. I've tried to play the commission game a few times, but it just doesn't... work for me. I hate it. I hate the idea of selling my time and skills directly, I hate the idea of someone else commanding me to create something that I'm still gonna sign my name so. I just... can't. Full props to people who can, but it's something I find psychologically impossible.
Dunno why, and I don't care to change it.
I donated to your Ko-Fi, can you do my request first next week?
NOPE. Sorry sweeties, that's not how I do this. Newcomers always get served first, and after that the priority scores are dictated by participation, not funds. I'm working on good perks to give people who support me, but these perks will NEVER mess with the order of requests. There is no paying for the front of the line, and there never will be. Period.
What's your name?
Loor, spoken like the lore of a story.
What time zone do you live in?
US Pacific time, I live in the state of Washington.
Why do you use all these colors on your posts?
Helps divergent people, or hell just tired people read them. Colors, bolding, changes in font size and otherwise direct the eyes and help the brain understand what's important and worth remembering.
HOLY HECK YOU'RE MARRIED? HOW OLD ARE YOU?
Yeeeep, coming up on 10 years married this October. I turn 30 this August. Yep, I'm an honest to glob adult. Because life doesn't end at 25. :P
