Baby’s First Writ of Honorable Execution
Tumblr media
@wind-guide-us :D Thank you! I did the Vaynerii one. The Dreveni one is coming!
---
Prompt: willpower (from these prompts) Rating: T for murder and alcohol
---
Just one assassination. Just one, and then she’d be in. Vaynerii had found the base easily—she already had a network of whispers, so it was no trouble at all to find a den of assassins. They had trained her for a while in preparation for her proving. They had all agreed, to her relief, that she would make a promising reconnaissance agent, but it was still Morag Tong policy to complete one Writ of Honorable Execution before one could be accepted as a full member. And so here she was, on the verge of acceptance. Just one Writ.
It was an easy one, they had all said. Not that she had a sense of the range of difficulty when it came to assassinations, but it was comforting to hear. And of course she wasn’t going on her own. She would have Naryu—an assassin who had just graduated to solo missions and was now on her first “babysitting” mission—with her, always lurking just out of view, ready to step in if things went sideways. Supposedly.
The target was some petty Hlaalu. He’d roped someone into a bad deal and they wanted out. Simple enough, though it was curious. Writs weren’t exactly cheap. Vaynerii wondered just how bad of a deal it was that paying for a Writ was the better solution. She was almost impressed, almost wanted to hear the mark’s side of the story and how he’d managed, but that wasn’t why she was here. Well, maybe during the trust-gaining phase…
Vaynerii entered The Flaming Nix; Naryu followed right behind her and quickly found a table and blended into the shadows. Vaynerii found her mark at the bar, sat down leaving one empty seat between them, and ordered a drink. This was the easy part. A bit of Telvanni bug musk in her hair, an expression of boredom and loneliness, glancing around and catching his eyes for just long enough, and then he was beside her and offering to buy her another drink. And another. Of course, she had taken an antidote before she arrived to prevent the alcohol from affecting her, but she was acting the part. Soon enough, he agreed to go somewhere quiet. She noticed Naryu get up and cast an invisibility spell. Vay waited just long enough for Naryu to slip into the room behind her and give her a small nudge of acknowledgment before she closed the door.
Now for the hard part.
She flashed the most enticing smile she could muster, despite using all of her willpower to remain calm and keep herself from shaking. Slowly, carefully, she backed him into the wall. Those who trained her had said that that was an excellent position to get your mark in for situations like this, as it gets them to lower their guard while also making it harder for them to run away, should anything go wrong. But nothing would go wrong, of course, as she had practiced this move a thousand times before they would let her try it on a live target.
She brought herself in close. With one hand, she brushed his cheek, keeping her eyes locked on his face. With the other hand, she drew the dagger at her hip—freshly sharpened and dipped in a lethal poison to ensure a quick, easy kill—and jammed it into his heart.
There was a flash of surprise in his eyes, and then nothing. Emptiness. She lowered him to the floor and sat there, and offered a prayer to Almalexia. Not for forgiveness, since she had done nothing wrong, but for the strength to continue after ending a mer’s life. She supposed this was why they had sent her on this mission. As a reconnaissance agent, it would be easy to dissociate her work from the actual execution that would follow. This way, she had to see plain and simple what they were doing.
There was a whoosh of dispulsion, and then footsteps.
“You all right?” Naryu asked, placing a hand lightly on her shoulder only after announcing herself.
Vay nodded and stood up.
“Don’t forget your dagger.”
Vay retrieved her dagger from the dead mark’s chest and sheathed it on her hip again, ever so careful not to nick herself. That poison was nasty, and while it helped the inexperienced assassin make quick kills, it also helped weed out the clumsy ones.
“You did good. Quick and clean. See? Told you it would be easy.”
Vaynerii managed another nod, trying to keep her face casual, but she could see in Naryu’s eyes that she understood what she was feeling.
“Come on,” Naryu said. “Let’s go turn in your writ.”

Someone asked about your worst birthday gift, so I'll ask - what was the best one?
There are many ways to estimate gift’s quality, and not all of them are compatible with each other. I personally think that when one weights what they’ve received, they should not look on the gift as an object in vacuum. It is imperative to also take in consideration their own person, and also the giver.
In this regard I think that the best gift I had been ever given came from my sister, with whom I don’t get along greatly. Despite that she has gifted me with a set of matching daggers, masterful craftsmanship as far as I can tell. I have had them a little for a century, and while they don’t see frequent action, they still get to be in use, and so far there is not a scratch on them, and they refused to melt even though I had them on me the whole time I was in Elsweyr.
Realizing what is known about the Tharn family and also what I have told you, I think it is important to stress out that the daggers were delivered in a box.

Asks coming your way! For the micro story one: 5,17,47 for whoever you find best fitting! And for ABCs of you OCs: A 1-5 for Talvini and for Ildari F1 and F4!
:D I’ve done the question part, and I’ll post the stories separately.
(from these questions)
For Talvini: A: Aptitude 1. what are your oc’s natural abilities, things they’ve been doing since young?
Magic. She grew up in Sadrith Mora as a member of House Telvanni by birth (like a lay member, although she does eventually reach a you-get-a-mushroom rank by doing things like cutting Molag Bal in half, and traversing planes of Oblivion via the Crystal Tower). So she's had magical training since she was very young and it's always come naturally to her—though it's likely that that's just from experience and early training.
2. what activities have they participated in?
This is so broad...Story-wise she does the main ESO quest and the Daedric Triad arc at least, possibly Greymoor but I think she's mostly off doing research by then and figures Milia can handle it.
3. what abilities do they have that they’ve worked for?
Magic falls into this category too because even if you have a natural ability to harness magicka relatively well, it still takes a lot of work to actually develop skill in using and understanding magic, and she does put a ton of work into it. She has also put a lot of study into Dwemer machines (and eventually what Sotha Sil-style clockwork stuff she can manage to study), so she has an understanding of magical-mechanics and some amount of soul magic. She also had to learn more destruction and defensive alteration magic than she would have otherwise, in order to defend herself in Dwemer ruins (which she often explores on her own in search of parts and information).
4. what things are they bad at?
She's not great at physical combat. Which is mostly fine with her because she has her magic, but if she were ever silenced or her magic were otherwise compromised in a fight, that would be a problem. She's also autistic so she struggles with social stuff.
5. what is their most impressive talent?
Does the fact that she's one of my better dps despite being a non-pet sorc count? But really probably the amount of magico-mechanical stuff she's managed to figure out largely on her own.
For Ildari: F: Fun 1. what do they do for fun?
I do think she loves doing magic research, but it is still her job (at least, depending on the time period), and I'm sure she does other things when she needs a break. Honestly she probably likes going for walks, but then that's not so much "fun" as like, a way to occupy oneself or take a break from other things. She likes to read for sure. She doesn't have a ton of friends to hang out with honestly—she was kind of a nerd growing up and then after the whole Nerevarine business she's in a sort of weird place. And she's not so much into like ritual combat or anything. And we know little about TES sport ball and whether she'd be into it. But I guess research, reading, and maybe like going for walks or whatever are her things.
4. can they have fun while conforming to rules?
Sure, she's a relatively chill person overall, so she doesn't like go kill people for fun. (She was part of the Morag Tong for a bit during the events of Morrowind, but that was a job.)

Was wishing there was a positivity post for original fiction writers since I see so many about how fanfic writers are doing so much for their communities even when they're not actively writing, and then I thought:
Be the change you want to see in the world.
So this is a positivity post for the writers out here who are working very hard on stories with no established community. Who can't talk about their blorbos and plot lines and brainstorming to anyone and expect them to know what any of it means. Who don't have much to share publicly, but are hoping they will one day.
You're doing a lot of hard work, and I recognize and appreciate what you're putting into the world, even when you're resting.

Heya! Your post with art advice got me wondering - would you ever consider posting a timelapse of how you draw an art piece? I really REALLY love your art and I'd be very curious to have a chance to see the process!
GHTURFJIEDSO thank you! Honestly I do have the tools to do so and I have considered making one, the only real reason I haven’t is I simply don’t know what to draw for one. To make a timelapse/speedpaint I sorta gotta know to record before I start drawing to make sure I get all of it, and usually when I get the urge to do a speedpaint I’m like mid way though the artwork

Mor'Ajwin got himself into a big mess once and intrrupted a daedric ritual to Mephala by stealing jewels from her altar during the very sacrifice. She didn't appreciate that; and since she enjoys mercilessly trolling mortals, she went "Oh you like snakes? Let's make you into one then!" Now he's a catsnek with a snake tail, venomous fangs, split tongue and a cobra hood behind his ears. [Hope you feel better soon!! ~Wind-Guide-us]
That definitely sounds like quite the conundrum and that response is so in character for Mephala wow but on the bright side his new additions sound awesome!!! Even if I’m sure they’re a little unsettling to most people... he seems like a really really interesting character!!! <333

[ID: A Tumblr fan mail in typewriter letters on recycled paper background, sent by @plushiesaur. It reads: How do people refer to you most often? How do you actually like or dislike being called? Mr. Tharn? Lord Tharn? Master Tharn? etc.]
Nice to know that someone was bothered by this to at least ask to avoid screw ups. In proper setting, when spoken about I would be referred to as the High Chancellor. That title doesn’t bring with itself a special form of addressing, so when spoken to directly, I’d be addressed as Lord Chancellor (because Lord High Chancellor doesn’t roll off the tongue that easily).
Since the Tharns are a noble family, calling be Lord Tharn is perfectly acceptable in my eyes, even though since my position highly outranks this term of addressing in my person, and it might get quit confusing if there are more Lords Tharns on the scene, which I don’t suppose will be the case on this blog.
In theory I should not allow for people calling me just “Tharn,” at least in my face. I could and probably should make a lecture that it is, in fact, disrespectful towards me and degrading my person on the level of the common people. I personally am fine with being addressed as that, I view it more as of a job description rather than a name at this point. If you are eager for the lecture, though, ask Clivia. She is the one who really loves her titles.
Unless you are a summoned or bound Daedra, do avoid the word “master” in any connotation with my person. And even individuals falling into this category are very quickly requested to find a different honorific.
There used to be a lot of military titles, but I’ve officially left the army some thirty years ago or so, and therefore even on the battlefield I remain to be Lord Chancellor. Just one of the many ways I am making your lives easier for you.

Hii! You wanted some prompts, so how about Vaynerii and 8; Dreveni and 30? :3 Cheers! ~Wind-Guide-Us
Hi! I know I already half-replied to this with the first response, but I finished the second one now.
8: Willpower, for Vaynerii
and 30: Meeting, for Dreveni
(prompt source)
Thank you for these prompts! I never write about these characters so it was really fun to get a chance to. I’ve been thinking a lot about Vaynerii especially since writing that first one, lol.

Give it up for the character insults! Pick whoever, but I want many! XD
OH BOY
thank you so much for this i’m going to enjoy it. i got a little carried away.
i apologize in advance if these are uh not good i think i’m a lot funnier than i actually am. i have also given up on. actual sentences and grammar.
also apologize for the fact that some of these aren’t really insults. but they are fun! :D
Aellai Darrell - idiot. i mean. idiot. please stop throwing yourself face first into everything that wants to kill you. i mean really. just. absolute dumbass.
Raewyn Corellius - has no friends, just daedra. no wonder her moms sent her far, far away.
Evelyne Antonius - honestly these jokes just write themselves. literally a drunk necromancer. i don’t even need to say anything.
Ziapiel - tiny. so tiny. could squash her like a bug. that’s a really terrifying image. needs horns to be taller than anyone else. still shorter. shrimp.
Larandel - a THOT. also a Dres so there’s that. which is an insult in and of itself. please don’t tell her i told you. i will die.
Tamera Light-Bringer - a literal fanatic. hears strange voices and unquestioningly follows them. unironically likes meridia. has never heard of a brush.
Lyra Darrell - feral goblin. cares more about keeping her hair nice than the fate of the world, probably.
Mizuki - even more of a feral goblin. literally the unluckiest person alive. afraid of water. who the fuck is afraid of water.
Damiana - i don’t even know if it’s possible to insult her. smears blood on her face like an absolute sociopath. absolute biohazard. unstable.
Alvena - stuck-up. which is ironic for an altmer who worships a mortal god. terrible taste in other people.
Astraia - hopeless. probably couldn’t find her way out of a box. desperately needs help.
Altaire - also a thot. doesn’t know what shame is. would do anything (one?) for like... half a septim. reckless. please get standards.
Adelaide Darrell - needs to learn how to say no to people. would get pushed around by a limp noodle.
Zenaide - absolute dumbass. literal poster child for dumb jock. why the fuck would you consume hist sap. why would you think that was a good idea.
Emylynn - beats people to death with a stick. please see a therapist. pretty please.
Aralyn - the most feral goblin of all. seems to think biting is socially acceptable. afraid of 99.9999% of people. the coward.
Jaede - ?????????????? speaks for itself tbh. needs to stop playing golf with skulls.
Ashe - when you try your best but you don’t succeed. would probably blow herself up accidentally.
Zanthe - absolute ditz. couldn’t fight her way out of a paper bag. really, really bad taste in romantic partners.
Asenath - small and angry. teeny tiny. possibly having serious hallucinations. absolutely no clue what she’s doing. has never flexed her ‘decent person’ muscle.
thank you so much for this it was a ton of fun!!! hope you enjoyed reading at least a little bit, even if i’m not as funny as i’d like to be :’)
