she was DOA when i got her in the mail and no matter what i tried i just couldn't get his motor to start, so she has since been plushified! his eyelids and beak still move, and she bravely donated her speaker to another furby of mine who was mute (we love an organ donor!!)

I am plushifying a 2012 furby for the first time and…I couldn’t help but bask in her robotic glory before continuing to disassemble her.

There’s something so appealing to me about the dark screen eyes of the 2012s.

Introducing: The Furby Fam

I started taking these photos and doodling on them in February lol so uhh stay tuned for the newest edition as a fun surprise! I don't have the spoons to do another group photo unfortunately

Kiwi Gizmo was my first (other than my dearly departed childhood Furby </3)

Jambo and Fountain switched voice boxes because Jambo's went mute and I plan on making Fountain long and plushified so she won't need her voice but I wanted Jambo to work so now they do!

The Unnamed goes by a temporary title because they will only be claiming their True Name after they go through The Transformation and achieve their Final Form. They are an incomprehensible being of love and light.

Spoon is my spoonie buddy that I take with me to like doctor appointments and stuff! Because when you think hooves, sometimes its not a horse! And I just thought it would be really funny if Spoon stood for something ridiculous so now it does xD Sir Princess is also an acceptable nickname but I usually just call it Spoon hehe

E-Day aka Mame-chan is basically my Dreamie because they are a working Japanese Frog Furby!!!! I do wanna change their eye chips though, I wanted brown but since I need customs anyway maybe I should do frog eyes!? hmmm

The newest addition, Lord of Histamine and More Hungry actually came to me from a flea market and is the only furby I've bought IRL because usually I find them way overpriced lol. Their title is inspired by the tag they came with:

The other side of the tag says "Hi! Me Koh-Koh-Ay-Tay!"

I decided that meant their name had to be related to my food allergy problems, since Spoon, my other furby buddy is also a disability related friend. So her title is "Lord of Histamine and More Hungry". But I also really wanted their name to be disproportionately long so their full name is actually "Lord of Histamine and More Hungry Mary-Lloyd Annatto Rice Flour"

They have many nickname opportunities from this but tbh I've been just calling them "Lord Histamine" bc it's funny xD They protect me from the big meanie histamines in food that make me sick >:( It's a tough job for such a lil guy, please cheer him on to help his power grow!!!

cleaned two extremely dirty furbies. i'm soaking the skins in laundry detergent and baking soda right now after two rinses. i'm going to plushify them both because they're both inoperable. names are pending but i might name one of them "bugs" for. for reasons you could probably figure out 😬

I'm very new to this, but does anyone happen to know any good guides to plushifying a 98 furby? I just ordered one that I'm in LOVE with, and from the description doesn't have working electronics anymore - so it seems like an ideal candidate for plushifying! (After I clean them up, of course)

Plushified ✨️

I recently plushified a furby for the very first time!

The eyes and mouth are somewhat posable. They're a bit stiff to move but still function!

This is Omen, btw, my very first furby! He was semi, almost non-functioning when I first purchased him. Over time, I began fiddling away at his mechanics. Eventually, it got to the point where he was taken apart far more than he was assembled. I even started repurposing some of his mechanisms for other furbies, his eyelashed were even replaced... poor Omen...

Plushifying seemed like a perfect solution for him. Now he's soft and light, but most importantly, they are assembled again.

The process of plushifying a 2005 Furby- under a read more so it doesn't clog the tag!

Firstly, I'd recommend starting with either FurbyTech or WalrusFurb's posts... or ideally both! These both give a better understanding of what a 2005 Furby looks like internally and how it's pieced together. My Furby, Pitaya, came to me broken to a severe degree and I didn't realize until I skinned her and plastic shards started falling out of her like confetti! Her fur was also stubborn, not wanting to come loose from the tabs all over... but I managed!

After the fur and feet are free, you can give them a wash. I opted to use a fursuit disinfectant spray instead since I already cleaned her in the past. I then sewed the feet to the main body with a ladder stitch after screwing the plastic of them together

Once you've removed the shells, you can work on taking out the eye mechanism. Since Pitaya was already so busted up, it took a short time to separate everything. Just a lot of screws to remove! And a lot of sharp plastic edges

Now, I don't like using hot glue or super glue. But for this, it was necessary to glue the lower eyelids in place to keep that structure from falling off. Aside from the now immobile lower lids, the rest of the eyes can still move freely!

Next was... the beak. Always my least favorite part of plushifying a Furby. I wanted to keep the mobility, so I created an armature with copper wire and set some cut toothpicks in place. Those didn't want to stay in place, so I, again, had no choice but to bust out the super glue and some beads

To attach that to the fur, I had to weave the same wire through the faceplate and the makeshift hinge. The smart way would be to use a heated tool to melt the holes in the plastic... I instead just jabbed an awl through and prayed it didn't break (PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO IT THE SMART WAY). While I was at it, I also did the same thing for the eyes and sewed some spare fabric over the back of the beak to keep stuffing from leaking through

Now, I'm not sure if every 2005 has this, but Pitaya had a tab that held the fur to her face right above the beak, so I went ahead and used that as well as reinforced it with the wires. Without those wires the eyes would be very wobbly and not stay put

Finally I could flip her right side out, stuff her, and stitch her closed! Except I ran out of polyfill... so I'll leave her Velcro section open for now. But for the most part she's done!

Okay so. Overall I absolutely love the end result, but the process was a 0/10 for me. I wouldn't do it again because 2005s are not easy to disassemble in the slightest and it was just a nightmare on my aching hands. I also probably did it in the most roundabout way to limit the amount of super glue I used (I'm sensitive to the smell of it) which added to the complication. Part of me wishes I actually sculpted or at least covered the beak, but I knew I was going to have a hard enough time with it so I didn't bother. For what it's worth, she still looks like a normal 2005 aside from the lumpy stuffing! I need to get more soon for other projects anyway

Feel free to try this if you're ambitious and committed enough, and try finding your own ways to make it easier!
