Challenges and Improvements
While the scheme is promising, some challenges exist:
Awareness: Many students are still unaware of such opportunities.
Limited Seats: High demand but limited positions in popular departments.
Unpaid Internships: Not all positions offer a stipend, which may discourage economically weaker students.
To improve the scheme, the government is working on:
Expanding the number of participating departments.
Creating a centralized internship portal.
Ensuring fair and transparent selection.
Increasing stipends and improving mentorship.
Conclusion
The PM Internship Yojana 2024 is a commendable step towards building a skilled, capable, and confident youth population. By giving students and fresh graduates an insight into the functioning of the government and real-world administrative practices, this scheme helps in nurturing future leaders, civil servants, and professionals. With proper awareness and outreach, the scheme can significantly contribute to India’s mission of becoming a global talent powerhouse.
