thinking about how Florian/Juliana are just as trapped by the narrative as Kieran is.

in the battle against the Paradise Protection Protocol, you have to use Tera Blast. you can’t use any items. even if you try to, it’ll make you.

you can’t tell Kieran the truth. there’s no option to.

you can’t refuse to give the professor the book. they’ll insist on it.

you have to catch the legendaries of the DLC. you can’t refuse to.

you can’t lose a story battle. the story will only ever move forward if you win. it might say you scurried back to a pokémon center, but characters don’t acknowledge that you have.

isn’t it strange how Kieran went to the Dreaded Den for years and never once encountered Ogerpon?

it’s because you’re the center of this world.

the protagonist is the person the story is about.

but they are as trapped in their role as everyone else.

you are the monarch of this world and the crown only fits you.

and it can’t be taken off.
